Hey everyone, I wouldn’t worry about comments in the Daily Mail, the site is infested with Britain’s equivalent of Teabaggers – nasty, vicious, racist scum. The paper is a right wing rag.

        • November 13, 2011 at 7:48 pm

They did a nice aritcle on Michelle though, surprisingly. The cockroaches who infested that piece were all from the good ol’ USA. Dumb bishes as PragmaticObots would say.

That’s true Cha, the tone of the article amazed me, they usually print pure poison about the Obamas – they even report National Enquirer anti-Obama bile as serious news!

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D), appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, accused Rick Perry and the rest of the Republican presidential field of pandering to their party’s extremists and demonstrating “little serious thought” about what they would do if elected.

O’Malley, the chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, was asked about Perry’s assertion during a GOP debate on Saturday night that he would zero out foreign aid and have all countries, including Israel, make the case going forward for what they need.

Host Bob Schieffer said that assertion by Perry, the Texas governor, had caused quite a stir on Twitter and other social media.

Here’s an article that describes various aspects of Medgar Evers’ life, and includes a photo of Saturday’s ceremony in honor of him.

Back in the early 1990s, when he was governor of Mississippi, Ray Mabus made Myrlie Evers a promise that she doubted he would ever keep:
“I will do something at some point to see to it that Medgar Evers is remembered for the man he was,” Mabus told the widow of the World War II veteran and slain civil-rights leader.

Myrlie Evers said this week: “I thought he was just saying something to be nice. But he made good on his word.”

The promise was fulfilled Saturday when Myrlie Evers smashed a bottle of champagne against the hull of the 689-foot USNS Medgar Evers, christening a $500 million dry cargo ship at General Dynamics NASSCO on San Diego Bay. Mabus named the ship not long after he became secretary of the Navy.

I remember Mabus supporting PBO way early in the days of his campaign to become President. He’s an incredibly decent man who has been loyal and has served our country well. RIP, Medgar Evers.

    IT’S DEMOCRATS OR DISASTER

Voters Have Two Choices: Dems or Disaster. Stop Helping Disaster Win!

    =======================================================

If you call yourself a progressive, and you don’t stand 100% behind this president and the Democratic Party at this time in our history, then you’re either a right wing plant who’s lying about being a progressive, or you don’t really know what the word “progressive” means. I’ll give you a hint; the root word is “progress.”
    .
    .
Voters have two choices every November, between competence and disaster. When you trash “the Democrats” mercilessly, the Republicans gain. And if you don’t think we lose when Republicans gain, then you haven’t been paying attention.

I’ve learned not to read comments too, on many sites. I am convinced that there is a pod of right wing trolls who patrol all articles about POTUS and FLOTUS and make comments. I think perhaps 50 of them have different sign-in names to make other readers think there is a huge number. Most people are too busy with their lives to be involved and comment on articles such as these. This is where I comment, because this is where people are sane and sensible. The rest of the time I’m too busy with teaching to get involved with those articles. I believe thousands of others are the same. Therefore, I don’t worry about stupid commenters. They don’t represent the majority.

Although this article is dated November 3, 2011, I suspect that we’ll be seeing memes similar to the one that was insinuated by AP–designed to give the impression that the POTUS ‘should be worried’ about a challenge from the likes of Mo, Larry, or Oops because he is losing donors! Fortunately, the author and Adam Bonica, a Stanford University political scientist and expert on political donations to campaigns, were on point and debunked this nonsense.~

AP Suggests Obama has a Donor Problem — What does the Empirical Evidence Have to Say?

    ~snip~

Q (me): Is it correct to conclude, as the AP report noted, that “larger donations are the strongest signs of enthusiasm“?

A (Bonica): I don’t think this is really the case. Large contributions signal more about how much time and effort Obama is putting into big-ticket fundraising events. If someone can afford to drop thousands of dollars per plate at one of these events, I presume they would wait until Obama visits their area before writing a check. If they give the maximum amount over the internet, they are technically barred from giving again at the fundraising event. Small donors and midsized donors are arguably a better indicator of enthusiasm, and Obama appears to have done quite well in this respect.

Q: Should Obama be worried that, as the AP noted, “Records also show a handful of Obama contributors from 2008 donated to Romney this time; none appeared to give to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, another leading GOP candidate.”

A: I’ve run the numbers on where Obama ‘08 donors are giving in 2012. I included the cross-tabs below—the columns are donors to a candidates ‘08 campaign and the rows are the totals/percentages given to 2012 presidential candidates. I count 793 donors that gave to Obama in ‘08 and Romney in ‘12, which represents 2.3 percent of donors who both gave to Obama’s ‘08 campaign and gave to any of the 2012 presidential candidates. But when I perform the same calculations for donors to Romney’s ‘08 campaign, I find that 2.2 percent of his donors gave to Obama this time around. Yet the article didn’t bother to interview any former Romney donors who switched sides. My numbers cover the entire ‘08 campaign, not just April to September 2007, but they suggest that the Obama campaign has fared well in retaining it’s donor base.

Thank you Chipsticks for creating this wonderful site. The President’s interview with the Boeing executive was truly amazing. The President’s grasp of all the serious issues raised was totally breathtaking. It is really a shame that the mainstream media will never allow Americans to see this interview because it contradicts their negative appraisal of the President. I am sure I’ve said this before, but I will say it gain, I am absolutely convinced that President Obama is one of the most wonderful Presidents in my lifetime. Like any one interested in history, I have read about past great Presidents like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and the great libel icon FDR. But, since I never directly experienced the presidency of these iconic great presidents, may view of them is simply based on what I read about their records. I have, however, experienced and studied presidents since JFK. And, based on my experience and knowledge, President Obama, in terms of both intellect and temperament, is one of the best, IF NOT THE BEST, presidents in my life time. I challenge any one to offer concrete proof that proves me wrong in my assessment.
