Women Voters Buoy Obama’s 2012 Hopes

“Lilly Ledbetter, 73, whose pay discrimination case inspired the law, is also likely to be at least an unofficial surrogate for Obama on the trail. ”I’ve never been so proud of anything,” she said, telling of her travels to college campuses nationwide to talk it up.

“It sent a strong message to the women, minorities and working families across this nation,” she said. “I am just working as hard as I can to hope to try to keep Obama in office another term so he can keep what he started, because in my opinion it really takes two terms for a president to succeed in all their goals.”

    PBO sat down with Univision:

“I don’t think it requires us to go negative in the sense of us running a bunch of ads that are false, or character assassinations,” Obama told Univision News. “It will be based on facts … We may just run clips of the Republican debates verbatim. We won’t even comment on them, we’ll just run those in a loop on Univision and Telemundo, and people can make up their own minds.”

    Lots more here:

Good Question, Lisalovesobama. I still can’t figure out which Romney we are listening to. Oh well, I suppose he is no different from Chris Matthews. I still can’t tell if Chris Matthews is a progressive Democrat or a rabid right wing Republican. No wonder the MSM is cleverly pushing for Romney to be the Republican nominee.

Mainstream media: Why has President Obama failed to solve all the economic problems of Michigan, Europe and the United States?

To see Ms. Ledbetter at this beautiful age still moving and shaking with us is such a blessing. An inspiration to all of us. Love her spirit and what the Lilly Ledbetter Bill does for the young women in the future in the job world. We need her voice and energy. HZ

Not watching the debate, the head story on both CNN and MSNBC is about Joe Paterno and the Penn State horror story.

I know we’ve talked about it ad nosum, but this story is just heartwrenching and disgusting. No one who see a child being harmed should take a blind eye and not go above and beyond to report and ensure the child and future children’s protection from a predator.

I’m not watching the debate, but I’m finding this guardian liveblog the most interesting so far:

    • November 9, 2011 at 8:38 pm

8.34pm ET: My Guardian colleague Ewen Macaskill is watching, and says that the moderators dropped the ball in quizzing Herman Cain:

      Ewen MacAskill

Cowardice on the part of the journalists on the debate panel. Having raised the sexual harassment issues with Cain, they backed off after being booed by the audience. Having raised it, they should have seen it through, putting it to at least a few of the candidates.

Doesn’t seem very much like Christians to me.

    • November 9, 2011 at 10:26 pm

It doesn’t matter. The 91% of African Americans say they will vote for President Obama again. 73% of all Democrats say they will vote for President Obama again, So let the Johnsons, Smilelys and Wests scream on. They have had little effect of the President’s standing with the base. BTW, the base is NOT ONLY firebaggers and elites. West sits in his ivory tower, Smilely gets money from corp and paid to run his mouth and Johnson made his money objectifying young black women by showing them with little clothes on and gyrating across the TV screen.

      • 62 nathkatun7
        November 10, 2011 at 1:38 am

Go ahead and tell it like it is Shahidah! We all know Robert Johnson and Tavis Smiley were die hard Hillary Clinton supporters. As for the flaky “prophet, professor, Doctor, brother” West, he supported Ralph Nader over Al Gore. And look at what we ended up with: George W. Bush. In 2000, the vast majority of African Americans showed up to vote for Gore because they knew the stakes. Not so for the smug Ivy league professor who is so full of himself. Just because he loves Jazz, he thinks he knows more than the ordinary black person who has to confront the real racist system, day in and and day out. The ordinary black person is not blind. He knows how President Obama has been treated by the media compared to how the media treated past presidents. The professor’s gibberish talks about oligarchs and plutocrats may impress his holier than thou white progressives, but us ordinary black folks are not impressed. We compare how the so called white progressives treated President Clinton to how they are treating President Obama.

  37. 82 nintendowii10
    November 9, 2011 at 9:01 pm

No wonder the national media hates PBO, they KNOW that he has more respect once he gets his message directly to the American people.

They obviously want a horse race for ratings and money, hence why they keep talking about Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, being in play. The media obviously ignored last night’s election where right wing ideas were REJECTED and progressive Democrats won across the board.

The anti union crap that failed in Ohio more or less seals up Ohio for PBO, all he has to do is go there and praise the unions and point out how electing more Republicans would be to rubberstamp the anti union agenda of John Kasich. PBO can also seal up Florida by going there and pointing out how Rick Scott rejected high speed rail for political points.

The only Republican strategy is to minimize the vote, which is why we must all be vigilant and do our best to drive out as many folks to vote for PBO re election and give Nancy Smash the gavel back.

  49. November 9, 2011 at 9:41 pm

Fifteen minutes later, Rick Perry’s brain clicks in. “By the way, it was the Department of Energy that I was reaching for before,” he reveals.

Somebody must have tweeted him….This is becoming pure comedy….hehehe

    • November 9, 2011 at 9:53 pm

Could Perry always have been like this and got re-elected in Texas? Was he showing these symptoms when people urged him to run for president?. Couldn’t someone in his family, a friend or even a doctor have told him he didn’t have it in him to take the pressure? Everything I read before he announced said he was a formidable candidate. What happened? There have been really weak candidates who’ve run for president in the past, but I don’t remember anyone who had such trouble getting his brain to work. IF Perry were a bit older, I’d say he had early onset senility. I’d like to meet one person who has donated to the Perry campaign so I could just ask “Are you nuts?”

The media and the pundits are frauds. President Obama was supposed to be quaking in his boots about Michelle Bachmann. Then that fizzled. Perry was supposedly the Greatest Threat to Any Republican Contender in the Universe. That has failed to materialize. All that’s left is Cain and Romney.

President Obama’s record, political instincts, emotional intelligence and communication skills will trounce any of these clowns.

And if President Obama doesn’t trounce these idiots, then some thing is terribly wrong with the majority of Americans. I just don’t see any one on that stage who has the caliber to match President Obama’s intellect and charisma.

FiredUpinCa, I remember what’s his face Thom Hartmann going on and on about what a formidable and dangerous opponent Bachmann was going to be!!!

I’d catch the last few minutes of his show waiting for Randi to come on and he’d go on and on about not discounting Bachmann.

These PL folks are such frauds and terrible forecasters of anything!!!

And when their predictions fail to pass., they get mad, testy and attack President Obama all the more.
They then take their attacks and slander of President Obama to new levels trying to force their desired results and narrative of him losing!!!

All just so they can be right!!!

        I hate them all!!!

Herman Cain’s campaign touts ‘Princess Nancy’ comment

After spending more than a week defending himself against mounting allegations of sexual harassment, you’d think Herman Cain might try not to appear condescending toward women.

Or, that after announcing during a televised debate that “Princess Nancy” blocked Congress from taking up a Republican healthcare bill, his campaign might hope the comment would fade away.

Nope, not the Herman Cain campaign.

Moments after Cain uttered the comment, this popped up on the candidate’s official Twitter page, THEHermanCain: “The answer to Health Care: HR3000, the bill killed by ‘Princess Nancy’ in committee.”

According to MSNBC Latino enthusiasm for Obama is fading. Someone please tell Univision since they just had a poll out that contradicts that.

POTUS was Fabulous tonight.. his speech was mighty and real and I don’t doubt for a second that he has always considered women his equals on every level. Man I hope this country really wises up to who he is and to how highly he thinks of us all, how he truly treasures this country and every single person in it~ we’ll not see his like again for a very long time I’m afraid.

Missed the loser club debates.. but enjoyed the heck outta the tweets~ 🙂 have a good sleep everyone, thank you as always Chips for all that you do.

Lawrence O’Donnell is asking MM to critique the GOP candidates position on letting the auto industry fail – when MM advocated the same position! No wonder MM tried to change the topic and quickly pivot to “jobs” platitude. Now, MM is praising Hunstman.

Hopefruit2, Michael Moore is very good friends with the Huntsman family!!!

He obviously picks and chooses which evil, greedy corporatists he reserves his fury and attacks for!!!

Jon Huntsman is a close, personal friend. Go figure!!!
