ABC: President Obama has crossed off 60 percent of his 2008 campaign promises from his to-do list, he told supporters in Los Angeles Monday as he asked them to help him check off the remaining items.
“I keep a checklist in my desk, and I kind of see, all right, I made a bunch of these promises during the campaign and let me see, yes, I got that done and that one, yes. No, that one’s not done yet. So we’ve got about 60 percent done in three years”….
The president listed health care reform, the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and passing consumer protections among the promises that he has fulfilled.
“A lot of the things that we promised we’d do, we’ve done… we’ve made great progress, but we’ve got so much more work to do” …. Items left on the president’s agenda include comprehensive immigration reform, passing energy policy “that makes sense” and, of course, fixing the economy.
To check off the remaining 40 percent, the president said lawmakers will have to put politics aside. “Obviously, in Washington, the politics that I think people are hoping for is not what they’re getting. It’s still dysfunctional, it’s still perversely partisan. You still have folks who seem to be more interested in the short term and the party and elections than they are in the long term and the future and the next generation”….

Loop 21: Even though they can barely hear over the echo from their empty wallets, unemployed people are still shouting “Yes We Can!” apparently.
The Associated Press has found that President Obama still receives tons of support from the jobless, even as Republicans attempt to blame him for high unemployment and after blocking his jobs bill.
A study conducted by the AP shows that people living in the most economically distraught areas with the highest unemployment rates are still donating money to Obama’s re-election campaign. In fact, they are actually donating more than they were in 2008 during Obama’s first presidential campaign and right before the recession hit.
Detroit for example, even with a 14% unemployment rate, wrote more checks to the campaign than it did in 2007. Even though the amounts are smaller (Obama’s website allows people to donate as low as $10), they all still add up eventually.

Michael Tomasky (Daily Beast): Perry’s Ridiculous Tax Plan
….. his plan, like all flat-tax plans, is a gussied-up way of stealing money from the working and middle classes and handing it to the rich…..
…. whether Perry revives his candidacy or not, the real issue here is that a flat tax or something like it is getting ever so closer to becoming GOP dogma. Some years ago, it was just the messianic loons: Steve Forbes. Now the flat tax is mainstreaming within the GOP. Mitt Romney, who used to hate it, has recently opened up to the idea. It’s getting … respectable.
Simplicity is for simpletons: a handy slogan for the ruling class that wants more of your money. Don’t be that simple.

Don’t feel bad FLOTUS is here in Chi-town today and I can’t make it either. I feel horrible about it. I babysit my great- grandson when he gets out of school so my granddaughter can go on a job interview. 🙂 He voted for PBO when he was in kindergarten. He loves the President. I must tell everyone this story. I had Fox on in the kitchen and when he came in he asked me to turn it off. He said granny they say bad things about Obama I don’t like them. Now, if an 8 yr old can see that; why can’t the FOX-ites who cling to every thing says and does FOX do? No one is a bigger Obama bot for my fellow Chicagoans than me. At least, I thought, until I started reading TOD. Thank you so much Chips for keeping positive. Love your hard work.
Oh, and Chips – there is TAPE of the Roscoe’s visit – KTLA was showing it nonstop this morning on their morning news broadcast. (Or maybe you’ve posted it…. and I just missed it…..)
Will try to find it Tally, so far I can only find videos of people whinging about the traffic delays!
whatevah!!! A friend of mine was in the mass PULL OVER/MAKE WAY on the 134 – he got film. If I get it, I’ll send.
Here you go!!!
The girl’s a genius! Thank you Tally, added it to the post 😉
I love the other one – “AND NOW I’M GOING TO GO WATCH EPISODES OF THE WEST WING.”
😆
awesome!
SWEET.
Thank you for that lovely Video, Tally. I was smiling and grinning the entire time, as I watched 🙂
What in the heck? Is that a serious ad for Herman Cain? Is it funded by the tobacco industry? Who are they trying to get on board…maybe angry gruff older men who smoke? Pathetic!
It’s one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen in modern politics. Really, really disgusting on so many levels.
Oh, and the guy smoking? That’s his campaign chief of staff.
Creepy is the word for it meta! Honestly, it looks like something SNL would put together as a joke!
OMG – it’s TOTALLY CREEPY!!! And Cain looks EVIL at the end.
He makes my skin crawl!
Me too. When I saw it on Morning at 5am CT I thought I was hallucinating. I chuckled nervoulsy because I was so freaked out.
That should be Morning Joe.
That photo of the little girl saluting the pres is adorable and a real keeper. I bet she really touched his heart. What a great, great man!
The chart on Republican Primary voter preferences is such a sad commentary on American politics that it breaks my heart. A crazy pizza guy running ahead of a pack of looneys and Don’t Know getting more votes than Rick Perry. Maybe the 8 percent who said “don’t know” still have an ounce of sanity. Wonder how much ‘Hell NO!” would get.

Herman Cain if Karl Rove has his way won’t keep that lead.
Appearing on Fox News Monday morning, GOP strategist Karl Rove unveiled a laundry list of gaffes made by Republican presidential frontrunner Herman Cain on a variety of political issues.
Using a whiteboard to outline Cain’s missteps on: abortion, taxes, terrorism, neoconservatism, the Mideast, and other topics, Rove stated, “The whole effect of this is to not create an image, I think, of him being a flip-flopper.”
“I think it’s to create an image of being not up to the task.
Here’s the video. LOL, I thought I saw Cenk in there.

Love that picture of the little girl — made my day. Such a beauty.
The poor kitty living in the digital world! I have that app on my ipad. My kids like to play with it once in a while. I had never considered how confusing it’d be for a kitten!
Which app is it? I need to get it for mah kittehs!
The one I have is called “ifishpond.”
😆 I think it’s Pocket Pond, Tally. I used to have it and played with it just like that kitten 😳
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! We need video of THAT!!! 😆
I felt sorry for the kitty. He/she was pouncing impressively fast, and there was no reward. Couldn’t believe when kitty started singing, “Can’t get no—-satisfaction, and I try and I try and I try….”
😆 I felt just as disappointed when I tried it out Dotster!
🙂
The statistic about the donations from people going through hard times brings me close to tears 😥 . Wow. You can’t astroturf that type of support and shall we say……Hope. We can’t let these people down.
That made my heart melt too PJ. It shows just how much they still believe in him and have HOPE in him that he’s the right LEADER for these times despite msm lies.
My friends love to say “Let’s keep it moving MR PRESIDENT”
Thanks for this report SR. I have worked with OFA Ohio and the Ohio Democratic party for this result. Fascist Governor Kasich is one of the least liked Governors in the nation. Even more hated than Florida’s Rick Scott if that is possible.
Our task is not done. We are still working on GOTV. As a matter of fact I will be canvassing on Thursday. We are also gearing up for the 2012 election. My GOD I hope the Dems nationwide can capitalize off of the Teapublican over reach and the electorate’s dissatisfaction with it. I can only hope. Dems are prone to being their own worse enemies and screwiing things up. Hopefully we won’t miss this golden opportunity. KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!!!!
This post was in response to Saint Roscoe’s postive report on Ohio’s repeal initiatve of the anti-bargaining law in place (SB5) 55%-35 in favor of repeal.
There’s a fierce competition for the most despised R governor. For me, Pennsylvania’s Corbett is the lowest of the low and my contempt knows no bounds. At least they have a recall process in Wisconsin. We’re stuck with this idiot. I think people underwent a period of insanity in 2010. So many gubernatorial elections had such ugly, disastrous outcomes.
Wish I had developed pumpkin carving skills. I would like a jack-o-lantern like that one. Need retraining.
Here’s one I made earlier, Dotster:
😕
STFU. Seriously? You are a Pumpkin Carving Jedi Mistress!!
STFU!!! Chipsticks did you seriously carve that? Like no shit! Did you???!!! That’s some wicked carving skills. Don’t let me get on your bad side. Might carve a Christie on my tummy. 😯
“STFU!!! Chipsticks did you seriously carve that? Like no shit! Did you???!!”
Would I lie?????

Wow, you’re good. My “punkin” just has an Obama bumper sticker on it. But I bet you can’t twirl the baton as good as me! 🙂 By the way, are you SURE that was your handiwork?
Mine is just a pumpkin. 😦
“I bet you can’t twirl the baton as good as me!”
Oh yeah?
LOL!
Niceeeeeeee, Chips, I like 🙂
There is a lot of frustration with the Republican base. They want a Reagan-like messiah to appear on the national scene and it ain’t gonna happen with Mitt, Perry, or Cain. They are angry at the attack on their freedoms to bargain for better wages and working conditions. It is obvious to everyone that Kasich and the Teapuplicans like him across the country totally overlooked that they would be effecting large portions of their own base with these fanatical laws being passed. No, Republican union workers are not happy.
I get a sense that they believe it is Kasich overreach, but if the right Conservative candidate comes along who expresses their beliefs and values they will stay Red. Dems can still capitalize on their discontent and at least bring some of them and conserva Indies and Dems to our side in the 2012 election. It is very possible seeings how their options are limited. Thanks for asking.
“but if the right Conservative candidate comes along who expresses their beliefs and values they will stay Red”
A bit late for that 😆
Keep an eye on Gingrich. If Perry doesn’t have a second act, Newt could be the next flavor of the month. He seems to be gaining slowly but surely and somebody will have to be the anti-Romney on the ticket and it’s not going to be Cain. Newt could be that “time gone by” Republican that could have pretty wide appeal if he ever decides he wants to win the primary and not just along for the ride and the VP slot.
GIngrich is not likeable. Comes off as mean and over the top in his Obama bashing. I still think that the GOP establishment will dump Romney because he has many negatives, and go for someone else, either Huntsman or a surprise candidate. But they are careful with the timing. They’re letting the radical base getting discouraged enough so that they will accept a more mainstram candidate. They’re letting the “moderates” and the media get discouraged enough so they’ll jump with excitement for their “annointed” candidate.
Unless you’re right about your theory on the strategy of the Bush clan, StR…
PBO just got done taping 3 segments for Jay Leno. They will be leaking clips before air time.
SF press is reporting that there will be Medical Marijuana, OWS, anti-war and anti-pipeline demonstrators at the W Hotel when PBO arrives. ARGH.
Chip- my posts are going to spammy!
“Press on, Mr. President.”
Yep. He keeps going, doing what he has to do. So should we.
Also, has anyone read this post at Consortium News:
http://consortiumnews.com/2011/10/25/why-the-left-wont-accept-success/
Parry has been critical of the President, but here, he (rightfully so) takes the Left to task for not realizing just how important the announcement of the withdrawal of troops from Iraq is. Read it–but avoid the comments.
O/T: This article just made me angry……wanted to share with the TOD family: http://www.gosanangelo.com/news/2011/oct/21/dale-mcfeatters-archivists-long-for-obamas/. Think I will see if I can find any fact check on some of what he says. If any of you have anything, please let me know.
Every politician since the invention of the teleprompter has utilized it. It’s just one more nitpicking thing they throw at Obama. This is a non story.
I live for the day when we have a general election debate against one of these clowns. Pres Obama will chew them up and spit them out! They are soooo uneducated on a whole host of issues. They almost make it seem like they only have an 8th grade education…..not to offend the 8th graders. 🙂
That Herman Cain thing is the creepiest thing I’ve seen this entire Halloween season …..
Whoever said the nation is no longer in love with our 44th President has never seen any videos of how the Public reacts to him
