        Gooooood Morning….everyone…..

been volunteering with the OFA_PA crew in conjunction with the PA State Dems to get out the vote…in the upcoming election…(NOV 8) as many of you know there usually is lower voter turnout in between Presidential elections….i have been stressing to everyone that i can…that we have to see these races as a priority as well…i remind them of the Senate and House and how the Reps have thawrted the President every step of the way…..of what has happened in State Houses across the country…the laws that have been passed ..from voter suppression to the breaking of unions…

it has become critical to get the information out…i meet many people who do not know about the voter suppression laws…here in PA there is a law pending that will require new forms of ID….

for me…first finding Chips blog…being part of the TODers……vibing off such an activist oriented group of men and woman has re- engergize me to become active once again….and being around the OFA folks is another jolt….hahaha…i hope i do not go into overloadd….

        Firedddddddd UP….Ready to gooooooo

    What is your first choice?

    • October 20, 2011 at 8:18 am

Hmm, I should really pick Ireland, Jovie, but if Dan Rooney wants to stay in the job then I’ll go for Trinidad and Tobago. Would you like to be my assistant Jovie?

      • October 20, 2011 at 8:20 am

        Lol. Yeah. What about Rome?

        • October 20, 2011 at 8:42 am

Hmm, yeah, maybe, Rome’s an option too – although that would mean having to meet Berlusconi occasionally and I’m not sure my stomach could handle it. The best option might be for me to be appointed TOD Ambassador to the White House, I could sit at a desk in the Oval office (no, not the big one) and do my blog work. I’d promise not to listen in on meetings or phone calls. Yep, that’s the one I want!

      • October 20, 2011 at 8:26 am

Wow, Chips, would love to have you here in Trinidad and Tobago. Just say the word and I will pick you up at the airport, anytime!
Don’t forget, there is always the fun Carnival in late February 2012. Now, there’s an invitation!

    • October 20, 2011 at 1:50 pm

Chips, that TOD ambassador to the WH sounds just the thing, IMO! Then you could expand and educate an even wider audience. Come to think of it, you could then give OFA Blog some hands-on assistance.

Rise and shine indeed. There I was watching Austan Goolsbee on Morning Joe making wonderful points about the real change the stimulus made to the economy, how PBO’s jobs bill is right for America because what we need right now is growth, growth, growth and how Kevin McCarthy (R) house whip from CA lied about the stimulus draining the economy and having no benefits – Austan was awesome as usual, actually got Joe to shut up when he hit him with fact after fact and Joe had to admit that repugs don’t have 2012 as locked up as they think they do – and BAM! Gaddafi’s been captured, injured in both legs, on the way to the hospital, dead, not dead, Reuters and BBC says he’s dead, NATO, Pentagon, State Dept. and White House can’t confirm he’s been captured let alone dead. If he has been captured or killed, then today will be a historic day indeed.

Some of you were discussing the MSNBC change up with LAW and ED. Here are the ratings as of

I work at the VA and all TVs in the building are fixed on FOX. I noticed that at my Honda dealer and the doctor’s office. Maybe they pay for viewers. Nevertheless, keep recording and watching Al.

Change the channel wherever you can, or ask that it be changed. I’ve changed channels across America. 🙂 Usually businesses will change the channel if you ask. Some owner puts that channel on in the morning, and there it stays, but employees don’t care. I’ve climbed up on coffee tables in motel breakfast areas to change the channel and on a chair in a car dealership waiting room and at bars waiting for a table I ask the bartender, “Do we have to watch this channel? Please, anything else” and the last place was a car wash waiting room, the cashier giving me a secret thumbs up. Be agressive.

        October 20, 2011 at 9:08 am

Good for you Dotster. When I patronize a business no matter how small or large it is and I see the channel on fox news, I politely tell them I don’t want to watch that channel and could they please change the channel to MSNBC (at least MSNBC has some good analysts like Martin Bashir and Rev Al) and they bring on some good experts like Joy Ann Reid of the Reid Report, Steve Kornacki, Richard Wolffe.. etc. Most customers and most employees really don’t care whats on the tv, since they’re going about their day; but I feel good that I’ve stopped the plethora of BS that fox spews and at least enlightened one mind. Sometimes customers tell me thank you because they too were tired of the crap but didn’t know how to speak up. So hey it’s worth it 😉

    Good Morning TOD

Twitter brigade keep this Pew Research Survey in mind and handy today…

‎”One man running for president has suffered the most unrelentingly negative treatment of all: Barack Obama. Though covered largely as president rather than a candidate, negative assessments of Obama have outweighed positive by a ratio of almost 4-to-1. The assessments of the president in the media were substantially more negative than positive in every one of the 23 weeks studied.” –

    http://pewresearch.org/pubs/2116/media-primary-news-coverage-blogs-republican-presidential-race-barack-obama-rick%e2%80%94perry-herman-cain

Don’t let the media spin this triumph today. Send it to MTP, Face the Nation, This Week, The Today Show, GMA and every other show that trouts out Republicans every time this administration accomplishes something!!!

    Lol!

  34. October 20, 2011 at 8:59 am

This is such huge news about Gaddafi. All the naysayers against the president’s decision to provide US air support to Libya can take a hike. Libyan people are freed from a horrific tyrant and mass murderer. Good for them, good for the world, and good for PBO.

That stop at the outdoor market won a lot of hearts. The owner was great, although I would have been a blubbering puddle by then. I am so proud of our president. Imagine any of the right-wing candidates being this natural among real people. And the Obamas don’t just patronize people and let “the staff” pay (or, not, as in the case of the Hilary entourage stiffing waitresses of their tips). They get right into the spirit, enjoy the products being sold, and pay from their pockets. I think the Obamas feel really liberated when they’re out among people and love doing ordinary, every day things.

Also if anyone ever again mentions that PBO had an overwhelming Democratic majority to work with, you need only refer them to the irrational nonsense Joe Lieberman is tweeting on the jobs bill. And Tester and Nelson are Democrats only in the most tangential way. The D’s after their names add to the “sense” of a majority, but their voting record does not. I don’t even try to be polite to people who push this overwhelming majority theme at me, I just shove the facts at them. Let THEM work with idiots like Tester, Nelson, Lieberman (and don’t forget Max Baucus) and see what they get done. It’s a miracle we had got the Recovery Act passed, DADT, Health Care, and Financial Reform, not to mention accomplishments as long as several arms. My newest comeback: ” I stand with George Clooney. I’m disappointed in people who are disappointed in the president.”

Democrats find singular issues and go, ‘Well, I didn’t get everything I wanted.’ I’m a firm believer in sticking by and sticking up for the people whom you’ve elected.

“If he was a Republican running, because Republicans are better at this,” Clooney continued, “they’d be selling him as the guy who stopped 400,000 jobs a month from leaving the country. They’d be selling him as the guy who saved the auto-industry. If they had the beliefs, they’d be selling him as the guy who got rid of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ who got Osama bin Laden. You could be selling this as a very successful three years.”

Is there enough popcorn available to get us through the GOP primaries??

That Rick Perry ad going after “Mitt Leading” is devastating and it’s going to leave a mark. It’s negative and very effective. They got an awful lot of damaging details out in just 60 seconds. Clearly, from Steve Benen’s post, the Romney team is getting nervous. What a difference a debate makes. The Cain 999 plan has been totally eviscerated and Perry rattled Romney. It will be fascinating to see how the polls change after last Tuesday’s debate. The debate next Tuesday will probably require helmets and boxing gloves.

I plan letting my son take another break in about 7 weeks for Christmas Shopping with his family and I’ll leave the office and be on the road and see where I go then.So thanks to all

Well….I’m not actually near the Flying J 🙂 If you own your rig, maybe you could put up a little banner….you travel ALL over the place, and lots of people would see it….just a thought. You are a wonderful warrior for this President. Bet that you’d start a lot of conversations that way! You could educate the masses! Safe travels:)

          • October 20, 2011 at 11:01 am

Desertflower,Thank you so much for your idea about the banner.Let me tell you a little story about the road I did put stickers on my Rig back when the President was running for office back in 07& 08 well me and may insurance company had to repair about $22,000 dollars worth of vandalism done to the rig in truck stops and other places. So naturally the insurance company would protect it’s self first and fight every claim even though I pay $2,800 per month in premiums for the last 2 years. So they would pay after a fight but then they came back with a rider to the policy a new deductible of $25,000 or new premiums of $5.000 per month. So my sons and other drivers in my small outfit we will fight even harder for Our President from the inside out and online and everyday talking but our business because we travel in so many different surroundings and for my loving Wife not to go to jail when some of those right wing nuts on the road can’t have a discussion and loose the point then go out a damage property. That is why brought my laptop just to keep up and not stop the fight for that which is right for us all.I know this was long but that is a truckers life sometimes when you get in certain groups and everyone knows what I mean.

    MITCH MCCONNELL LOSES HIS COOL

This has to be the clearest indication yet that the flawless roll out of the American Jobs Act and taking it directly to the American people is working. President Obama has basically said to the GOP “Enough is Enough”. You don’t have to answer to me for sabotaging the economic recovery and blocking job creation, you have to answer to the American people and your own constituents.

    ==============================

Spend enough time around Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and you’ll learn a few things about him. He’s the most disciplined GOP leader on the Hill, and one of its savviest. His devious parliamentary tactics have been a cornerstone of the GOP strategy to thwart the Democratic agenda, of which he was the key architect.

But he rarely loses his cool.

That’s why his acid-tongued attack on President Obama Tuesday came as such a surprise — and, perhaps, an indication that Obama’s campaign against the GOP for blocking his jobs bill is working.

Thanks for the link to this. For someone who is supposed to be the most disciplined GOP messenger on the Hill, McConnell seems to have made a very big slip up and I hope that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz can use it in an ad somehow:

“He owned the Congress for the first two years. They did everything he wanted. Everything. The only thing they forgot to do — I don’t know why they overlooked this — they forgot to raise taxes.”

That one slip up undermines the entire foundation of Tea Party movement, which held their first protest on April 15, 2009 — the day of the largest tax break in American history for the middle class. It undermines the current ads running, that were produced by Karl Rove’s American Crossroads, suggesting President Obama wants to raise taxes on the middle class.

I would love to see and ad of Mitch McConnell running opposite these Karl Rove ads:

‘Sometimes in the heat of the moment even career politicians tell the truth:

“He owned the Congress for the first two years. They did everything he wanted. Everything. The only thing they forgot to do — I don’t know why they overlooked this — they forgot to raise taxes.”

“When you’re young, you look at television and think, There’s a conspiracy. The networks have conspired to dumb us down. But when you get a little older, you realize that’s not true. The networks are in business to give people exactly what they want. That’s a far more depressing thought. Conspiracy is optimistic! You can shoot the bastards! We can have a revolution! But the networks are really in business to give people what they want. It’s the truth.” ~ Wired, February 1996

‘I think what we can see today, with the capture and death of Muammar Quaddafi, is the full flowering of Ronald Reagan’s successful strategy to isolate Quaddaffi and nurture a budding democracy, when he bombed a tent in the 1980s. We can attribute the ousting of Hosni Mubarak, death of Osama bin Laden and elimination of scores of Al Quaeda lieutenants to the strategically brilliant initiative of George W. I admit I have not been as connected or active as I should be lately — I have responsibilities to meet and I’ve unhappily needed to prioritize. I always contact my congress critters on important votes and topics. I have not had the time to explore how twitter works (I honestly still don’t get it). But I’m trying to catch up on my reading.

Here’s a post from TPV yesterday that appears to have Democratic soundbites written all over it: http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2011/10/dick-fuld-and-gopconservative-attack-on.html

Our task is that a full 40% of Americans believe the lies, believe what’s easy. Donald Trump yesterday was absolutely stunning: Cain’s plan is simple, so it’s good. No, it actually sucks and cannot remain as it is, but as a political tool, it’s effective. TPV Americans have dangerously short attention spans (when it comes to their world or their government, not when it comes to new iPhones or the World Series). It’s not enough to say, “They lie!” but come back with instant, potent soundbites that cut to the core of the lie.

The TPV post referenced above shows a picture of an OWS protester holding a big sign explaining what Wall St. has done. It’s amusing. But the “Other People’s Money” meme has potential for being distilled into something that can be used against Republican/conservative lies, because Americans do not understand what Wall St. and the banksters did.

GOP JOB CREATION (What a joke.)

And the media continues to carry water for the GOP. They act like there is only one branch of government (EXECUTIVE BRANCH) that is responsible for governing and job creation. The GOP has a majority in the House of Representatives (LEGISLATIVE BRANCH), but you would never know it from the feckless reporting of our media. They have failed the American people miserably. It’s a disgrace.

Check out this amazing website below. Read it and weep for our country. It’s up to us to get the word out. Twitter brigade, you know what to do. http://www.republicanjobcreation.com/

    =================================

Shortly after gaining the House of Representatives in 2010 the new Speaker of the House, John Boehner, made the welcome claim that the primary purpose of the Republican Party was to increase employment. His exact words were:

“We’re going to have a relentless focus on creating jobs.”

The following, therefore, is a chronological list of legislative activities by the GOP beginning 2-10-2011. I’m sorry to report that none, so far, have resulted in a single new job being created in America.

(Note: I began this list as sort of a joke. That it has reached its currently imposing length without one anecdotal citation of new employment is astonishing.)

    (1) Attempted curtailing of abortion rights.

    (2) Attempted defunding of Planned Parenthood.

    (3) Attempted defunding of NPR.

    (4) Investigating Muslims.

    (5) Declaring English as America’s Official Language.

    (6) Reaffirming “In God We Trust”. Yawn.

    (7) 3-28-2011: Challenging AARP’s tax-exempt status.

    (8) 4-1-2011: Approved defunct funding for failed religious schools.

    (9) 4-6-2011: Attempt to destroy Medicaid.

    (10) 4-8-2011: Attempt to destroy Planned Parenthood.

    (11) 4-11-2011: Planning on shutting down the government

    (12) 4-13-2011: Attempt to destroy the EPA.

    (13) 4-15-2011: Attempting to eliminate financial counseling.

SORRY MITCH, THIS IS A PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY, SUCK ON THAT!

        Tell it L3.

October 2011 is starting to look like the month when the American people finally woke up. The combination of the roll out of the American Jobs Act and the Occupy Wall Street protests has the GOP back on it’s heels. The American people are with President Obama and there are polls to prove it.

And Mitch McConnell has the audacity to slam President Obama for taking his jobs plan directly to the American people?? Somebody needs to tell Mitch that this is a participatory democracy. President Obama is doing exactly what he should be doing.

Mitch made it clear that his goal was to make President Obama a one term president. His goal wasn’t job creation, it was to take down our president. So now he thinks he can blame President Obama for the sluggish economy and high unemployment? Unbelievable.

Again I ask, where is the media. They should be ashamed of themselves. They are afraid to compare the AJA with the GOP plan because the AJA makes the GOP plan look like a coloring book. They are afraid to report the facts because the facts will make the GOP look bad. How pathetic is that??

Minority Leader Pelosi Statement on Social Security COLA

    October 19, 2011

Democrats created Social Security, and we will protect it.”

    ===========================================

San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the Social Security Administration announced that, starting in January 2012, Social Security beneficiaries will see their first Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) in three years:

“Social Security is a bedrock promise to our seniors: that after a lifetime of work, Americans would know some small measure of protection in retirement. Increases in the Social Security COLA are central to keeping that promise – helping seniors face the rising costs of basic necessities like food and housing. With today’s announcement, America’s seniors will once again receive this critical assistance.

“For two years, seniors have gone without a COLA, threatening their economic security in the midst of the economic downturn. During this time, Democrats tried repeatedly to fill this gap; yet, at every turn, Republicans opposed any action, choosing to deny our seniors this vital lifeline of stability and support.

“For today’s seniors and for generations to come, we must reaffirm our fundamental commitment: to preserve and strengthen Social Security, not privatize it; to maintain this pillar of economic security, not undermine it. Democrats created Social Security, and we will protect it.”

Where was Maxine Waters this weekend when we were out there marching for jobs?

    Roland Marting just tweeted this:

I blasted him @rolandsmartin So talking loud & doing nothing is impressive to U. Where is @MaxineWaters jobs plan. What is she doing to get the AJA passed.

These so-called “pioneers” are just a big bag of hot air riding around on things they did in the past. I am about sick of her and those who think she is all that. Roland is caught up in the history of this woman because she isn’t doing a damn thing today to help her constituents except embarass them with all her ethics issues.

    Just GREAT Chipsticks.

Your “rise and shine” reminded me of my son, who was witty even as a very little kid. I would wake him up with “rise and shine” and he would say, “LOW and DIM”.
