mmm, pumpkins….

Washington Post: ….. President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, pulled up to a roadside farmer’s market in their imposing Ground Force One presidential bus for a little pumpkin shopping.

…. As Obama talked to the shopkeepers, the first lady was busy inspecting pumpkins. She seemed very interested in oversized white-colored ones, which Betty Wood later explained were called “full moon pumpkins.” Michelle Obama picked one up by wrapping both arms around it to load it into a metal rolling cart with a long metal handle. Betty Wood later estimated the pumpkin could weigh 70 pounds.

The president quipped: “Don’t hurt yourself now.” He yelled out to an aide: “Where are we going to put it? In the back of the bus?”

Michelle Obama loaded more into the cart. “How many are you going to buy?” her husband asked. “You want anything else?”

“No, we’ll have enough trouble getting these back,” she said.

Hahaha…where’s my President going with those pumpkins? He cracks me up. 😀 He’s so darn ordinary, yet extraordinary at once.

Don’t they have baggage handlers for this stuff. These people are so real, they forget they hold the highest office in the land. Geesh!

What a great photo. Our FLOTUS is spreading a little wealth to a small business.

Love when he stops at these small businesses along the way. He seems to enjoy the ordinariness of it so much, and the businesses get the publicity in the local news and a likely increase in biz. Malia and Sasha are getting some great “pumpys” to carve to go with the candy treats he picked out yesterday.

And he gets the cutest smile on his face when folks try to tell him “no charge” for his little purchases. He always whips out his wallet and implies, “No No! I’m paying!” Probably somebody has to remind him to bring cash, but he always offers to pay his share.

        Could they be any cuter?

Wood’s Orchard will sell out for sure — just another bit of Obama stimulus in effect.

One of which will undoubtedly be Rusty Boehner crying like a freaking tap on the fritz. And the other will be Vermin Cain with the 9-9-9.

That is where he really really connects, when he is spending money at local stores or diners!
That is key, and he interacts with perfect tone.

Romney cannot do that, not a chance.

      October 19, 2011 at 12:33 pm

Romney’s too awkward when he’s trying to be “regular folk”. He seems uncomfortable with small talk, and that makes it uncomfortable to observe.

Jovie, you are so right. Romney is fake, he is phony.

      October 19, 2011 at 1:53 pm

Jovie – If you recall, one of the reasons Geo. H.W. Bush seemed so out of touch was that he didn’t even know what a scanner was, when he was in a grocery store or something back when he was running. That was a huge deal back then (and one of the reasons former Gov. Ann Richards said he was “born with a silver foot in his mouth.” That is, if I have the correct Bush – could have been his son!). Romney would show the same lack of touch with the “common” man or woman.

    Reid hurts Senate GOP’s feelings

A week ago, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), for the first time, broached a sensitive subject, suggesting his Republican colleagues may be trying to sabotage the economy on purpose for political gain. “Republicans think that if the economy improves, it might help President Obama,” he said. “So they root for the economy to fail and oppose every effort to improve it.”

No republican would ever bother to pull a pumpkin cart. They think it’s beneath them!! They have “people” to do that sort of thing.

You are so correct Me4obama. I have not seen a President pull a cart with pumpkin and look like a President of the United States, classy, handsome as ever, and have that beautiful care and love for good every day people. I love my President!!!! So grateful to be alive during this time. And what can I say about our intelligent, beautiful, greatest hugger in the nation, lovely First Lady. She is just great. HZ

Citigroup settles charges of misleading investors

Citigroup is paying $285m (£180m) to settle civil fraud charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The SEC said that Citigroup misled investors when it invited them to invest in a product based on US mortgage debt.

It said that Citigroup did not inform investors that it was betting on the value of the investment falling or that it had chosen the assets itself.

Citigroup settled without admitting or denying the charges.

Credit Suisse was also involved in the the transaction and has paid $2.5m to settle the case, also without admitting or denying the charges.

But, but…the pretend left keeps telling us Obama in the packets of bankstas….

“Citigroup settled without admitting or denying the charges.”

There was a free for all during the Bush administration. It was tantamount to legalized gambling. This is good to see.

But oh dear, this won’t be enough for Michael Moore. He wants to see the perpwalk and the jail cell. It doesn’t count if there was no perpwalk and time served.

Wonderful pictures, the President of the United States out buying pumpkins with the First Lady . And the President pulling the wagon with the pumpkins his self. Buying candy the other day, now buying pumpkins. They are so special and I love them like they were members of my family.

  15. October 19, 2011 at 12:48 pm

Politics aside, I really do love this couple. They remind me of a lot of Black “marrieds” I know. Actually, scrap that, they remind me of a lot of non-Black “marrieds” I know.

Hilarious seeing the prez pulling the wagon of pumpkins. I cant wait to see what the right wing conspiracy theorists come up with for this one. I bet it will be something like “those muslim Obama’s are using the pumpkins in some satanic ritual in the White House using the taxes of hard working americans while promoting his socialist agenda”. SMH!

Anniebella, I know how you feel about Mr. Woods. I hope he will place a copy of the photo that POB said they will send him showing how they used the white pumpkins to decorate out front of the WH. That will be something awesome for him. He made me happy just seeing and hearing him speak about the experience at this place of business with President Obama and First Lady , Michelle Obama. It was just great. Love people like that. Plus , it is so good for POB to be around people with that beautiful energy. It makes him feel so good about what and where he is trying to take the country in a beautiful way with beautiful people like the wonderful people.HZ

It’s going to be wonderful amk; when our guy gets into the debates. Whoohooo it’s demolition time! He’ll swing from all sides and take out the GOP nominated clown.

Off to tweet this. @davidaxelrod is amazing. He never backs down from calling out GOP and MSM lies.

      • October 19, 2011 at 1:14 pm

David Axelrod has been around the corner and back many times, and he knows how these guys are just empty suits looking for power and not hard work for the American people. Love David. He speaks with convictions, true to his inner core, and respects the President.HZ

    • October 19, 2011 at 2:14 pm

This: Romney has no core. Romney has no job. Unless running for president for 5+ years is considered employment. Romney is living off his mega-millionaire $$$ which is a 15% capital gains tax.

Thank you, Mr. Axelrod. Romney reminds me of the “Slytherins” in the Harry Potter books/movies. Hope all you tweeters let D. Axelrod know that we think this is the (hor) crux of Romney’s underbelly.

Hey all–here’s a little inspiration: Dewey Bozella’s fight for justice
This is Dewey Bozella’s interview a day or two after the fight about his current life, etc and shout out to Pres. Obama…

Little background for some who might not be aware of his story: After 26 years behind bars for a murder he didn’t commit, Bozella triumphantly realized a dream deferred in his first and only professional fight.

Bozella won his pro boxing debut Saturday night, beating Larry Hopkins by unanimous decision in the latest stunning chapter of a remarkable life.

  24. October 19, 2011 at 1:34 pm

I think Axelrod is so great. He tells it like it is. I suppose Rush and his ilk will have some pumpkin remarks. I look at the President and First Lady doing as many normal things as they can–keeps them grounded. I remember Bush Sr. being unable to understand grocery check out. Can you imagine Queen Nancy painting a living room wall, or working in a soup kitchen?

I was just on the Le Figaro (French newspaper) website. This story was on the home page!!! No pics, though… Madame Obama was apparently teasing Le President because of the size and number of pumpkins he was buying: “How many of these are you going to buy? Do you want anything else?” PBO: “No, it’s going to be hard enough to get these back home.” Very cute 😀

What a treat for the Store owners. What a boost right before Halloween. You can tell the old guy just LOVED hugging Michelle and he can truthfully say he and the President of the United States of America were “pulling in the same direction”. This will be a great story to tell when he retires.
