    GOP debate in 100 seconds. . .

  2. October 19, 2011 at 10:14 am

Mark Pryor is on the floor talking about FEMA spending, Dnd how we should increase it but again republicans are saying no.
So, what does our good Sensator from Arkansas do?
He puts a hold on the treasury nominees until republicans see the light.
That is right, punish the administration for republican filibustering.

Mitch the turtle obsession with the President continues. Every morning, he only talks about the President.
Today, the turtle says that the President is acting like Howard dean.

This Week on Treasury Notes: Dismantling the Myths Around Wall Street Reform

    1) Myth #1: Wall Street Reform Hurts Small Banks

This claim is particularly dubious given strong support for enactment of the Dodd-Frank Act by the Independent Community Bankers of America. Wall Street Reform helps level the playing field between large banks and small ones, helping to eliminate distortions that previously favored the biggest banks that held the most risk. The Dodd-Frank Act subjects big banks to much higher standards than small banks in a number of areas:

    2) Myth #2: Wall Street Reform Puts the U.S. at a Competitive Disadvantage Internationally

The suggestion is puzzlingโ€”that a stronger and more stable financial system would create a competitive disadvantage. The strong protections offered by U.S. markets for much of the 20th century helped make our financial system the envy of the world. Rather than disadvantage the U.S. financial system, Wall Street Reform will assure investors that U.S. institutions and markets remain the worldโ€™s most attractive destination for investmentโ€”dynamic and innovative, but with a renewed strength and resilience.

ahhh this is a lovely way to begin the day: POTUS & FLOTUS ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. 14 dotster3
    October 19, 2011 at 10:31 am

MSNBC said they are going to carry it—–never know if that means 2 minutes of it or airing it while they talk over it or until some car chase becomes more important. Yesterday CNN’s announcement that they were going to air Obama’s appearance LIVE meant the last one minute of it—-they were too busy with Ron Paul—–higher priority than the President of the United States, according to FOXCNN.

  13. October 19, 2011 at 10:46 am

This fits better in the last thread, but will share it here. While waiting in the doctor’s office this morning, I was looking through the June issues of Woman’s Day. Found this: YES, WE CAN? The second time may not be the charm for President Barack Obama. Went on to say: Just 25% of you believe he’ll get re-re-elected in 2012. (That was printed in red print.) Who do the rest think will unseat him? Based on these results, it won’t be any of the current front-runners. Just 12% have faith in Mitt Romney. Sarah Palin (5%) and Hillary Clinton (3%) fare worse. (That was in red also.) Most of you (55%) say the next President will be someone who’s not even on the radar now.

Just had to share this. Interesting, huh?

      October 19, 2011 at 11:23 am

Since when is Woman’s Day political? I don’t recall politics during the Bush years. Another mag I’ll call a rag—more money saved.

I guess Jesus Christ is getting in the race then. He’s the only one who could run December 25th with a full campaign organization, donor base, and damn near 70% of the pop. behind him. Other than that, President Obama probably can hold steady.

    • October 19, 2011 at 11:50 am

There’s a difference between “do you believe he’ll get re-elected?” and “do you think he should be re-elected?”

๐Ÿ˜† but I don’t think he married up though….I think they are both on the same level…perfect for each other. He sure looked yummy today and Michelle clearly noticed it ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • 41 anniebella
        October 19, 2011 at 11:45 am

P, maybe it’s alittle joke when he say he married up. You know just like it is when Michelle says she don’t get to do anything with her husband any more. It’s the little give and take between them. They have a good sense of humor, this makes people relax and smile. I remember POTUS saying one time how Michelle makes him laugh. POTUS and FLOTUS is just good together.

  17. October 19, 2011 at 10:53 am

Ha ha! PBO says he hates “following” Michelle cuz she’s a brilliant speaker, then advises unmarried soldiers: “the whole goal is to marry up. Improve the gene pool”

The only thing I don’t like that President Obama says, and he just did it again—–the only thing ever—–is this thing about “marrying up”. That was W’s standard comment at EVERY appearance. It is cringe-worthy to me. It sounds so artificial and pandering. I don’t like it when anyone does it. I don’t like it at all.

    • October 19, 2011 at 11:04 am

He’s only telling the truth. When he came to Chicago, Michelle was his first mentor.

    • October 19, 2011 at 12:08 pm

it was true for W too. The one thing that both presidents have in common are their intelligent wives. There’s nothing wrong with PBO commenting that he married up, cute and smart as he is, he married up. Miche is one heck of a woman, that’s why they are perfect for each other.

  20. October 19, 2011 at 10:56 am

The President wants to fly on a stealth f-22 raptor. It has thrust vectoring, can cruise at over Mach 1 without using afterburners and can kill up to 6 enemy aircraft before they even see them!
I would say, go for it Mr President!

  22. October 19, 2011 at 11:03 am

That article I read yesterday about how the Obamas should campaign together is totally spot on. He is just glowing when she’s around. They are so beautiful together.

    • October 19, 2011 at 11:24 am

Lawrence O’Donnell had a segment about this on his show yesterday. He spoke very highly of FLOTUS. He compared FLOTUS with Rick Perry’s wife. He did not have any footage of Romney’s wife. POTUS and FLOTUS are the dynamic duo.

    • 56 P
      October 19, 2011 at 11:32 am

I don’t know what article you are talking about but they surely should campaign together. Can someone please tweet EH and ask her why didn’t give 2 shit about AA’s not working during the 8 years of GWB and why is she worried about it now and wouldn’t she call it favoritism had POTUS focused on those AA’s in particular? ๐Ÿ™„

Elisabeth needs to get off FOX news and go to whitehouse.gov and I am sure she’ll realise that PBO’s “campaigning” is very important when you have a Congress that refuse to listen to the cries of the American people!!! If some of them would join in the “campaign” they will promptly get the Jobs bill passed!!!!

    • October 19, 2011 at 11:53 am

    • 70 GOVCHRIS1988

Thats what makes me laugh so much. How Republicans suddenly know about black unemployment and talk as if black people didn’t know that there was high black unemployment. And that it was high from jump street. You KNOW there just using that as a cudgel to beat Barack Obama over the head with because they have no plans to fix it.

Tea Party Nation Urges Businesses To Stop Hiring People In Order To Bring Down President Obama

Tea Party Nation sent a message to their members today urging businesspeople to stop hiring people in an effort to sabotage the economy and make President Obama fail. The message came from activist (and traitor) Melissa Brookstone, and reads as follows.

So, I caught politico 44 in a lie. They said his support for Jews is waning in NYC, according to a new quinnipiac poll.
So, I checked it, this is what I found:

New York City voters approve 62 – 33 percent of the job President Barack Obama is doing and approve 51 – 34 percent of the way he is handling the situation between Israel and the Palestinians. Voters say 58 – 28 percent that President Obama is a strong supporter of Israel.

    You see?

Federal regulators vote to curb financial speculation in commodities

Big financial speculators will be limited in their ability to manipulate the price of oil and 27 other commodities under a set of new rules adopted Tuesday by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Yet even as the CFTC approved the new rules to rein in excessive speculation on a 3-2 party-line vote โ€” with Democratic commissioners in the majority โ€” some financial-market analysts and lawmakers in Congress complained that the new rules fall short of what’s needed to curb speculation effectively.

“This rule begins the process of doing that, but much more needs to be done,” Dennis Kelleher, president of the advocacy group Better Markets, said in a statement. “Speculators’ casino mentality brings them big profits but hurts everyone else from the kitchen table to the gas pump.”

That picture brought tears to my eyes. We lost a friend a few years ago that was a Tuskegee airman, Mr. Bob Lawrence. He was asked once, with all the ugliness and discrimination leveled against the airmen, why did they do it? He said, “We had a job to do.” These men were the epitome of what “True Patriots are.”

      • October 19, 2011 at 2:35 pm

It was an honor to call him friend. His church held a reception for him after he and several other surviving airmen FINALLY received their medals of honor (from G.W.Bush) at the White House. His medal was on display as well as a replica of his plane and other awards, and memorablila. It seemed that everyone in town came! So well respected and so richly deserved.

      • October 19, 2011 at 3:28 pm

Dakota, i know what you’re feeling. One of my co-workers (back in the day) was a member of the ground crew that served with the “Red Tails” in Italy. Jesse was my mentor and friend until he passed a few years back. Our boss, at the time, had been a bomber pilot and he remembers the Red Tails saving his group on several missions.
From the tales they told, the movie was on the mark. As i think back, our coming together in a work environment was the direct result of Dr. Kings assassination and the companies mandate to integrate it’s workforce….i wish they could have seen this.

          October 19, 2011 at 3:57 pm

That’s incredible yardarm. It must have been wonderful for Jesse and your boss to have had that connection. Mr. Lawrence was a dear, sweet man and so loved in this community. I too wish he would have lived not only to see that movie, but to celebrate the election of our President Obama. He would have been soooo happy!

Love, love, love the Tuskegee Airmen photos! You can see the pride and contentment on their faces, as if they are thinking “This is why we fought and struggled and suffered so these two great people could be the United States’ representatives!”
