a demoralizing day

Here’s a world exclusive preview of what Mark Landler will (probably) write in the New York Times tomorrow:

“It was a demoralizing day for President Obama on his bus tour of North Carolina and Virginia, some of his lowest points, captured by our photographers, demonstrating just how much distance there now is between him and the people who once supported him.

From the moment he took to the stage in the morning to speak at the Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, it was evident how jaded and down he is, no spring in his step, no sign of the energy that he once displayed at these events:

Grim-faced and unsmiling….

….. his speech was so uninspiring it even prompted one member of the audience to start reading the book he’d brought with him just in case he was bored:

After the speech, the President displayed yet more of his professorial aloofness, failing to connect with his audience or show any human warmth:

It got worse later in the day when the President visited Bluestone High School in Skipwith, a group of teenagers (Jon Huntsman supporters, according to Mark Halperin) giving him an angry and hostile reception when he arrived:

There was a particularly ugly exchange with a student in pink:

…. which resulted in Secret Service having to step in:

On to Reidsville, N.C. and Brodnax, Virginia, where the President was confronted by several enraged women, two of them actually attempting to strangle him:

Stunned, the President ran for shelter in a Reidsville restaurant, where he hoped to find a warm and fuzzy reception, but there was to be no respite from the hostility, two enraged seniors confronting him, rather venomously:

The President, by now a broken man, left for Emporia, Virginia, where he gave another speech to a half-empty hall of largely unenthusiastic one-time supporters at Greensville County High School:

Once again, he ignored the issue that is, clearly, the most important to Americans – unemployment:

…. which might have explained the ugly incident that completed his day, when a young black man – possibly a Tavis Smiley and Cornel West fan – attempted to assault him by hitting his hand really hard:

Frankly, it’s hard to know how the President can recover from such a demoralizing day (#VoteMitt).”

Chips, you are too funny. It was the most wonderful demoralizing day! I’ll take afew more of them. The President is really getting to the Repubs. McConnell went crazy at his press briefing. I love it. They have never gone against a man like our President.

It s clear that the media are with the Republicans, they are not trying to be fair and balance. They are the mouth piece for the Republicans, the spokesman, carrying the Republicans water, wiping there tail, and everything else.

Really does make them look racist, doesn’t it? The over-scrutinizing each and every move he makes, every utterance, every personal contact. I’m of the opinion that we simply have a very very racist news media in this country, party aside. The things they focus on this President isn’t even about politics—–it is and always has been about him as a person, a human being, a black man—-that old double standard. I challenge anyone to show me otherwise. By the way, Chips, thanks for the laughs as I sit here folding my laundry. You are a brilliant satirist as well. 😀

          October 18, 2011 at 10:17 pm

EDP you won’t see anyone challenge you, cause your post is SPOT ON. All the resistance to Obama has always been about the man and hardly about his policies. If it were a White President passing all this historic social/economic legislation you would get some pushback by opposing parties and the like, but nothing like what PBO has endured. Folks say that FDR and JFK had just as many enemies when they were in the Whitehouse, I still say the MSM scrutiny of today is way worse for PBO and the HATE is way worse and yet he KEEPS ON TICKING and he urges us to PRESS ON!! KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!!! Obama/Biden 2012!!

I was thinking it was mainly racist too until Herman Cain got in there. Now since Cain is getting media support I think it has switched to policy more with media support for the real people incharge, the Corporatists. .

The intention to pump up Hermie is to divide the AA and minority votes to enable GOP to take the ball and run, IMHO. It’s part of racism 101, still.

NYTimes is really on the attack!!!

They had this full page article on Sunday that was without doubt an unpaid advertisement for both Jon Hunntsman’s father and for Jr. who continues to drag in the polls against all attempts to prop him up!!!

It was pathetic as the writer tried to sell this dubious family bit ended up unfortunately exposing the Huntsman’s for the entitled, manipulative, petty, opportunistic multi-generational asholes they obviusly are.

But the most important tid bit to be gleaned from this article besides the fact that Huntsman Sr. has been setting up to buy his son the U.S prseidency for quite a long time, was the fact that Papa Huntsman is “extremely close” to and “great friends” with both Glenn Beck and the filmmaker purist extraordinnaire Michael Moore!!!

Yes, fucking Michael Moore who will attack President Obama for even slightly compromising with the majority party in Congress in a bid to protect the middle class!!!

But apparently Michael Moore has no qualms about schmoozing with a billionaire who has not much in common with his publicly stated and unmoveable ideology and liberal purity!!!

Now it all begins to make sense.

The unrelenting attacks on President Obama for not being uncompromisingly hard left on every single issue even as he battles a majority GOP congress – thanks to Michael Moore and his cronies-

But the gushing about how appealling Jon Huntsman is solely on the basis that he once admitted that he believes in evolution!!!

Yes folks, that’s your liberal conscience loudmouths for you!!!

          • October 18, 2011 at 11:17 pm

michael moore is just a pity porn peddler. i read that nyt huntsman puffpiece in India, can you believe it ?

            • October 18, 2011 at 11:36 pm

Michael Moore is such an opportunist, he doesn’t fool me not one bit. Exactly. Whenever he appears, it is to push some product of his using events such as the death of Troy Davis or Occupy Wall Street.

On Twitter the other day, he was pushing the fact that his book had made it to the NYT best seller list. Another time, he was pushing for followers.

He has zero credibility, to my mind.

You get a feeling that all that bluster and purist crap Moore spews is phoney baloney. He’s made a killing pushing his version of us against them crap that has lined his pockets while he turns around and worships at the feet of the same slimey rightwingers. What a fake!!!

As for the puffpieces on behalf of the flimsy Huntsman, it’s all so pathetic and pitiful!!! The plan to force-feed us a white-washed and revamped image of the phoney Huntsman hasn’t worked out too well for little Jon, his papa or the GOPmedia all set to crown him king thanks to daddy’s bucks!!!
Even daddy is throwing a fit about Mitt having the nerve to run against his little Jon-y!!!

Thanks for the link jaleh, I just copied this from the article:

But the increasingly caustic tone of the president’s attacks on Congress raises a question: How long can Mr. Obama continue to hammer Republicans without exhausting the patience of voters who elected him to be an alternative to Washington partisanship — and without risking the perception that he is part of the problem?

I just read some comments about the POTUS–on a site that fluctuates back and forth in its opinion of him–which really, really, really made me feel that things are beginning to turn around. I know it’s hard to believe given the amount of negativity that the media, politicians, talking heads, and haters direct at the POUTS. please, follow the link and READ THE COMMENTS. You’re in for a surprise! Don’t become demoralized. If the president can keep going under these circumstances, we have to keep pressing on too!~

Demoralized? I’m not demoralized and never will be. I have FAITH. The President is KICKING ass and taking names later. He is doing a lot right or he wouldn’t have this amount of HATE being thrust at him. They can not stand that he is being successful. The MSM, pundits, politicians, groups, etc is all a show and theatre to confuse the public. The Rethugs KNOW they don’t have a credible plan other than their ancient remedies that never work to turn this economy around and create jobs. It is only supporters that look to the MSM and our untrustworthy politicians for validation and approval of PBO that get folks in a stupor and uproar.

I don’t believe much of anything coming out of the media in all its forms nowa days. I look at the candidates themselves and make my own impressions. I don’t need corrupt journalists and talking heads to do my thinking for me. WE WILL PREVAIL AND WIN AGAIN!! BRING IT ON MITTENS!!! KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!! Obama/Biden 2012!!

          • October 19, 2011 at 2:06 am

Hi Keith, I know that a MAJORITY of those who support the President aren’t demoralized, as evidenced by this quarter’s fundraising report. But there may be some people who feel deeply saddened by everything that the POUTUS is being put through. I know that sometimes I feel that way but it serves in strengthening my resolve to keep it moving. That’s what I should have said, but I was so busy trying to post my comment that I didn’t express my thoughts as well as I could have.~

I assure you creolechild I’m totally not ‘demoralized.’ The next 12 months are going to be transformational for America and we are each going to contribute to that transformation. The outcome will be #4MOREFOR44 and a solid Democratic majority in the House and Senate.

Hey Bobfr~ You and I go way back from TPV. You know that I know that you’re not ‘demoralized,’ and I’m sure that many others here aren’t either. I read the comments often and feel the enthusiasm and the energy that emanates from here. All I can say is that I hope the comment is received in the spirit in which it was made–which was with the best of intentions–and that it’s not taken the wrong way.~

Will not be clicking on that link Creolechild, thanks, but no thanks!!!

I have NEVER wavered in my undying support of this phenomenal President and do not need any validation from the wishy washy crowd to make me feel better or sure about why and how I support President Obama!!!

Even if I were the last man standing, I am standing solidly with and behind this once in a generation President.

          He ROCKS!!!

          • October 19, 2011 at 2:15 am

Eleroy, I can appreciate your position. My suggestion about clicking on the link was not intended as some form of “validation from others to make any one feel better about why or how they support the POTUS,” but to show that some people are finally getting it–which I think is a good thing given what we’re up against. And just so you know, there ARE several individuals who post on that site who are staunch supporters of the POTUS from day one and have never waivered….

      • 58 Obama Grandmama
        October 19, 2011 at 2:17 pm

I heard Thom Hartmann say that there are many Mormons that left Utah for Nevada and live there currently. Harry Reid is a Mormon too. One thing I noticed in the GOP Debate was that when Perry and Romney got into a heated discussion over Mitt’s employment of undocumented workers Mitt at one point put his hand on Perry’s shoulder. I thought that would be mentioned as too confrontational from the media since in one of the presidential debates between Gore and GW, Gore walked right up to Bush and the media would not stop with the too confrontational, not presidential comments. I even wondered if that was the pivotal moment in the campaign against Gore.

I guess not reading the NYT much is paying off – I never heard of this guy Landler. It’s just so much better to be out working the grassroots, meeting more and more new people who want to get behind this President. I have to remind myself what it was like at this time in 2007 – he couldn’t catch up with Clinton in the national polls but I knew from my conversations with people, with reactions on the ground, that he was going to prevail. That doesn’t mean we don’t have to work out bums off for his re-election; it will be uphill all the way. (It will be easier as soon as he goes head to head with whatever moron the R’s come up with but….).

Hahahahahaha. ROTFLMAO. He thinks Newt won? What the heck is he smoking? PBO won this round because America was once again exposed to the horror that is the GOP. Even Gergen saw the writing on the wall.

    • October 18, 2011 at 11:03 pm

They are all living in circusville. I truly can’t wait for the campaign to begin in earnest, when PBO takes to the stage. It is shameful that the media treats these people with such seriousness as it does.

Toomey is mine as well, Alycee. I just sent him an email in response to a letter dated 9/15/11, which I received just last week. He went on about how PBO has hurt the economy and how he couldn’t vote for the AJA. This is why I was glad I was not cordial when we all blitzed them before the vote. As PBO would say……”He’s a jackass” ….LOL!

Chips – Very Funny! This totally makes me laugh. This Landler guy’s a dweeb.

  42. October 18, 2011 at 10:35 pm

Okay heres my issue with these debates: I realize not a lot of folks watch them.. yet there are like 19 or 20 scheduled and in each one thus far we have 8-9 ‘candidates’ lying, misinforming and literally making shit up- while the media/commentator says nary a word to correct them. Folks are being lied to in this country- and frankly if you all pay attention you will see that allllll of the lies are aimed at President Obama, his policies, etc. Will the media in all the morning shows tomorrow correct this misinformation? heh, not gonna hold my breath. So we have about 40 hours of FREE advertising for republican policies, unchecked going out to this nation.

    • 112 TrumpDog
      October 19, 2011 at 10:55 am

You are correct to be suspicious. This is purely Republican PR and a means to get as much of their right wing bullshit out on the airwaves while promoting themselves. The GOP plans to drag the election out all year to get as much attention as possible. They want it to be like 2008, where Obama and Hillary captured the country’s attention. They’re trying to replicate that.

    ‘Good Data Flow’
The National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo sentiment index climbed to 18, the highest level since May 2010, the Washington-based group reported yesterday.
“Some good data flow in the past 24 hours helped support markets, as has profit reporting in the banking sector,” said Stephen Halmarick, Sydney-based head of investment markets research at Colonial First State Global Asset Management, which oversees about $145 billion. “Worries about Europe are likely to persist ahead of the weekend European leaders’ meeting.”
Japan’s Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 0.7 percent and South Korea’s Kospi Index added 0.3 percent. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.8 percent. Futures on the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index dropped 0.5 percent.
France and Germany are engaged in “intensive talks” on bolstering the European Financial Stability Facility, said Steffen Seibert, a spokesman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

  56. October 18, 2011 at 11:22 pm

Wonderful wonderful! Boy, those crowds just can’t stand the Prez can they? Do you notice how babies love him? It’s because they just KNOW a good person when they come across one–and our guy Obama is one good man. Have you heard about Harry Accornero, R. New Hamp. state legislature who wants the President charged with treason for letting illegials in? Where do the new Hampshire voters find these guys? Here in Washington State the apple growers are worried because they don’t have enough pickers, will be a huge loss if they don’t get the help they need. Good night everyone.

We need to reinforce the AJA message. We have a focus – jobs for teachers.

I think the Secret Service is having fun with this President, because every day there’s some new challenge. Yes, they have to pull women’s arms from squeezing him too tight, and sometimes, they have to actually pull the President from some crowd he’s dived into – but they must be having fun… I can’t remember these kind of activities and fun crowds with other Presidents.

BWAHAHAHAHA……………… Stephen Colbert is at the top of his game. He just eviscerated Herman Cain. 😆 😆 😆 Definitely a must see.

Tonight, writer Calvin Trillin was on The Daily Show and he had this hilarious rhyme where he compared Romney to the Ken doll from Ken and Barbie. He said Romney’s flip flopping is like Ken’s interchangeable parts and like Ken, Romney has no genitalia. 😆 😆 😆 😆 He pretty much called Romney a coward with no balls. The rhyme had me ROTFLMAO. Another must see.

I played the debate game at OFA: put $5 per reference to “ObamaCare” for a maximum of $75: 15 references so hit my max. Can’t believe they are happy with throwing kids off parents’ insurance (1 million plus); return to denial for preexisting conditions; skyrocketing rates; paying for preventive care. Major fail. We need to continue the fight to save America from GOP insanity and heartlessness.

MSM fools are cutting of President Obama’s explanation about OWS and are trying tp make it seem as though he trashed them.

Correction demand from MSM needed because the MSM just claims: “President Obama says OWS not much different from Tea Party”.

What POTUS says after is conviniently cut off because he says that now from the left and right, people are expressing their frustrations that the system and government do not work. instead those who are rewarded are those who game the system…. what we need to do is to listen to the people ….and make every work play fairly. Someone need to get the actual full quote and correct these MSM morons!!
