{{DD4O}} I’m still feeling tremendous pride every time I’m reminded of your accomplishment. I’m particularly joyous at the way your efforts drew us in as a group. It actually added to the ‘fun’ in donating to this particular campaign. You so deserve this, DD4O! 😆 😆

ps – By the time PBO is done his second term we will notice an abundance of ‘leaders’ in the country who developed or honed their skills as a result of their involvement with this particular ‘community organizer’ who had no ‘executive experience’. 😉

Congrats again, Donna. You’re a true inspiration! 🙂 Say hello to President Obama for all of us here at TOD. Tell him that we love him and his wonderful family, too. Tell him we’re pressing on for his reelection as president and another win for us (this country) in the victory column.

All the leading Republican presidential contenders except Jon Huntsman are denouncing government, with high vituperation. Yet all have spent some to most of their adult lives as office-holders, enjoying the perquisites of government and pocketing some of the public spending they say they oppose.

This a bit like a used-car salesman claiming to be a consumer crusader or a high-class madam denouncing Internet porn. Why does anyone believe politicians who shake their fists against government while comfortably ensconced as government insiders?

A great read on these lying hypocrites. It takes to task the ‘voters’, too.

    • October 17, 2011 at 10:34 pm

I saw that on Lawrence’s show tonight. Incredibly powerful. It’s surreal that we are fighting overseas for other people to experience “democracy” and back home people engaging in peaceful protests are being arrested. It boggles the mind.

  22. October 17, 2011 at 10:24 pm

Wow, Donna, I feel so proud of you. And you’re beautiful. I always thought of you as looking like Michelle Obama and guess what? You do.
You’ve worked really hard and if anyone deserves the pleasure of a call form PBO, it’s you. I feel certain you’re going to inspire a whole lot of people to strive to accomplish what you have. And you work two jobs as well–just incredible.

“Over the Moon” kind of happy for you, Donna! Would love if PBO checked in here from time to time:) Please let him know that we adore him, appreciate him more and more each day, and will all work our little behinds off for him! He is the greatest President in my lifetime, and I have seen quite a few…I was born when Eisenhower was President:)
Any news from the White House on when the thank you call will come from the President?? Lord…I would wonder, “Do I have the drink BEFORE he calls….or AFTER he calls?” Have you gotten any suggested questions to ask?
Also, wondering if anyone knows how Joan made out with her surgery today?? hope she is resting comfortably, and will be on the mend real soon.

I’ll go you one further. I was born when FDR was still president and he is by far the greatest. Kennedy was handsome and charismatic with a keen wit and intelligence, but he didn’t have that special warmth and deep humanity and compassion that shines from PBO. I looked at Kennedy and felt he was like a movie star. With PBO, it’s as if he’s a beloved family member who just happens to be an intellectual giant , a brilliant statesman and a master politician.

Apparently the largest contributor to the OWS movement is also a Mitt Romney donor…

So OWS is no grassroots movement – it’s an astroturf plan to stir up voter apathy among Democrats and get a Repub elected.

    • October 18, 2011 at 12:03 am

Did you hear Joan Walsh in the Ed Shultz show.
She is basically saying that the President has done nothing for college kids, so why should they vote for him?
I am not kidding. She is a Snake.

    • 69 nathkatun7
      October 18, 2011 at 2:04 am

Keep telling the truth, Hopefruit. I know many good people support OWS. But I am still not yet sold on the politics, motives and timing of this movement. I still don’t understand why the focus is only on Wall Street but not on Congress or voting. Why hasn’t the movement, which claims to represent the 99% of us, not taken a stand on the President’s jobs bill? How come this movement was no where to be found when the President and the Democratic Congress were fighting to pass a historic financial reform law, to curb the power of banks and Wall Street, so as to prevent another financial meltdown? How come this movement is not out there organizing and registering voters to elect members of Congress who are pledged to fight against Wall Street?

Any movement that includes advocates of a third party, or those who advise others not to vote, is, as far as I am concerned, very suspicious . That is not to say that there are not many decent and sincere people supporting OWS, because I know they are. My concern, however, is about the originators of the movement, and, also, the possible impact the movement may have when it comes to voting and ensuring that the teabag-Republicans won’t gain control and dominance of all the three branches of government. While it may have been o.k. to talk about a third party in 2000, I was hoping that people would learn from history. After what the country went through under Bush-Cheney, It saddens me to realize that the so called purity progressives learned absolutely nothing. Once again, in the name of progressive purity, many are ready to hand back all the branches of government to the teabag-Republicans. So, to all the advocates of third parties and non-voting, the question is how is that going to help the 99% you claim to represent? Do advocates of third parties or non voting honestly believe that the interests of the 99% would be better served when the teabag-Republicans are in control of all three branches of government? Until I see some credible political strategy from OWS that is against the take over of government by the teabag-Republicans, I really can’t get enthused about this movement.

    • October 18, 2011 at 2:36 am

I don’t think its astroturf but I do think that them claiming to be leaderless and loving it is going to produce stories like this and tar its reputation. Whatever they want it to be. Who among them is going to refute this story or untie themselves from corporate money?

I just wanted to share that, after listening to a rebroadcast of the Bev Smith show from in the summer, a guest is discussing the MLK memorial, and PBO’s dedication of it, which we know to have happened already. Ms. Smith asked him what does he think PBO feels about this honor, and the guest said he imagines PBO is elated because he and Michelle have been donating to this effort for a few years already. Just another nice tidbit about our President that people don’t know. Now we do. 😀 Once again, great going Donna !!

Good morning Chips and friends. Here’s a good article about the “Obamabots”.

    ‘Obamabots’ defend POTUS in Twitterverse

Nothing bothers Los Angeles insurance lawyer Imani Gandy more than unfair criticisms of President Barack Obama, and when she saw Firedoglake blogger Jane Hamsher post a clip of herself on MSNBC late last year ripping Obama’s tax deal with the GOP, she had to tweet back.

“@JaneHamsher loves to edit clips to seem smart,” she wrote under her nom-de-tweet — @angryblacklady.

“I don’t think he was pushed to change strategy by the carping on the left,” Gandy wrote in an email, coining a new gibe: “Much as the so-called ‘emoprogs’ would like to think so.”

Oooh! So Greenwald & Walsh wonder whether we Obama Twitter warriors are “paid subterranean” agents of the White House? They cannot believe the PBO has such loyal supporters except we are paid operatives? that statement says more about how BOUGHT they are by their corporate overlords, that they cannot believe no one else can defend the President purely on the basis of conviction and strategic long term thinking.

They were the ones who thought of PBO in magical terms. We were “realists &pragmatists from the get go” . Now they fear our activism will destroy the so-called progressive movement. I say f**k them.

Because it’s the WaPo, they never have anything positive to say about PBO or anything else. This is the MSM attempt to control the narrative and it is not working for them. I can’t wait until there is Occupy the Media.

    • October 18, 2011 at 9:27 am

I am not surprised they ceased on this narrative. With Romney staying steady at 23%, they have moved onto something to divide the AA vote. I certainly hope we make it very clear that President Obama is the right candidate.

    ‘Obamabots’ defend POTUS in Twitterverse

By BEN SMITH & EMILY SCHULTHEIS | 10/18/11 4:49 AM EDT
Nothing bothers Los Angeles insurance lawyer Imani Gandy more than unfair criticisms of President Barack Obama, and when she saw Firedoglake blogger Jane Hamsher post a clip of herself on MSNBC late last year ripping Obama’s tax deal with the GOP, she had to tweet back.

“@JaneHamsher loves to edit clips to seem smart,” she wrote under her nom-de-tweet — @angryblacklady.

Gandy is one of a new breed of online activists in the Obama era. They call themselves “pragmatic progressives,” but they’re better known by their enemies’ derisive label: the Obamabots.

Under the mainstream radar and largely on Twitter, the Obamabots are waging a high-intensity guerrilla war against the liberal-leaning journalists and activists who have — as they see it — gone weak in the knees and abandoned the president in his time of need. As liberal pundits have swooned at Obama’s occasionally feisty rhetoric during recent weeks, the Obamabots were ready with an “I told you so.”

But even as a candidate, Obama — with his conciliatory tone and utopian rhetoric — was never a favorite of the combative, hard-nosed liberal blogosphere. And when, as president, he refused to nationalize the banks, declined to push for the public option on health care and generally proved a disappointment to progressive eminences such as New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, the left — and in particular what Rahm Emanuel derided as the “professional left” — made its disappointment felt. From The Nation to Salon to Firedoglake, Obama supporters became critics, and even the supportive precincts of African-American talk radio were no longer safe havens.

The Obamabots are the ragtag digital cavalry riding to the president’s rescue, a cadre of decidedly amateur supporters, people far outside the Beltway and its norms, whose intense loyalty and passion at a moment of wide disaffection can be reminiscent of Sarah Palin’s core of backers.

The best known of the group is a blogger who goes by the handle @shoq and who has proved adept at getting into the conversations and under the skins of his pusillanimous liberal foes. With a respectable 12,000 Twitter followers and an astronomical 173,000 tweets since 2007, Shoq — who spoke to POLITICO but declined to give his name — has carved out a modest but real corner of the diverse new media space.

Last January, for instance, Shoq jumped on Hamsher and Salon’s Glenn Greenwald for their criticism of the administration’s treatment of alleged WikiLeaks source Bradley Manning.

“And the ONLY people to claim it’s remarkable are Greenwald and Hamsher. We’ll see what the UN says. I bet ‘nothing’,” he tweeted on Jan. 24.

    Greenwald fired back:

“I keep wondering why you wrote a claim you now know to be completely, undeniably false and don’t correct it,” he wrote. “[Y]ou’ll say anything to defend your leader. Amazing.”

Some prominent liberals declined to talk to POLITICO about the Obamabots for fear of drawing their wrath. Greenwald, an early Obama dissenter because of the president’s refusal to investigate the Bush administration for war crimes, sees them as a symptom of a broader disease, a “cult of personality” some critics say surrounds Obama.

“They don’t have any belief system, they don’t have any political views, they only have reverence for and loyalty to President Obama,” he said.

Others on the left view them with something more like curiosity.

“I’m actually fascinated to learn who these people are and what makes them so die-hard,” one prominent liberal media figure said.

This is a WEDGE article that is attempting to cause further rifts within the democratic contingent going into the 2012 election. Although it tries to appear objective, there are subtle and not-so-subtle digs at Obama supporters as empty brainless worshipers of the President, comparable to that of Sarah Palin’s support base. The article speaks from the point of view of the Obama-bashing “liberal” punditry, using the same derisive labels and talking points. Not surprisingly, this is Karl Rove at play, via GOPolitico.

The media realizes that for all the 24/7 Obama-bashing from both the Right and LEFT, he still maintains a solid core base of supporters who are able to think independently, do their research and come up to their own conclusions and not simply fall prey to MSM propaganda. When Obama goes on his bus tours all over the country, he is warmly received by all kinds of folks (some of whom I suspect didn’t even vote for him in 2008) and his speeches are met with enthusiastic responses. That does not support their half-baked “Noonanesque” narrative that “no one loves Obama.”

So now they have decided to wage a war between Obama supporters and the liberal punditry, AGAIN another attempt to divide and distract from the epic failure that is the Republican party and their current crop of worthless candidates (including their chosen boy Mitt Romney, his minstrel sidekick Herman Cain, and Rick “George Bush” Perry).

When shall we see an article about die-hard Perry Supporters vs. Romney supporters….still waiting….

That was my take on the article too hopefruit. They just can’t be positive. They have to sneak in their digs. I did not pass this article around on Twitter for that reason.

You’re right. They will do anything to undermine the supporters of the president. That “ragtag” group they talk about is actually the American people who respect and admire their president. To lump those who support and voted for the president into the same group as the Palin diehards is a quintessential example of slimy reporting. Why not examine the irrational hatred from the handful of so-called “liberal” media, who didn’t support Barack Obama in the first place and are either Libertarians or Hilary supporters. It looks as if Ben Smith woke up one morning filled with hatred for the president and decided to create an issue that doesn’t exist since, of course, there’s is nothing else really important going on in the economy or the world right not. These people are ciphers, throwing their balls of hatred back and forth between each other and completely oblivious to the real world.

WTH! How dare they compare us to Sarah Palin followers! Seriously, we are the most logical, reality-based constituents out there. We don’t inhabit any wing left or right. We’re pragmatic. We’re progressives and if that makes us “Obamabots” then I’ll wear that derision as a badge of honor! You know these liberals are the same type that in the 1930s were giving FDR hell because he didn’t nationalize the banks, because he had Wall Street types in his cabinet, because he argued with Labor, because he tried to stuff the Supreme Court, because he detained Japanese-Americans…the list could go on. Yet these descendants of those yesterday progressives have lionized FDR and put him on a pedestal that they say Pres Obama will never reach…oh, the irony! Yet we are the naive novices who are clueless about how things work. Give me an F’ing break. It’s interesting that Politico writes an article sympathetic to Joan Walsh, Greenwald and all…apparently, they are really scared of the real “reality-based” community. We are not just a cadre rag-tag group, we are Legion and we include such celebrities as George Clooney, Martin Sheen and international leaders like Pres. Lee. So, PL and the rest of you lying liberal elites, you should be afraid of us….your lies and misinformation will not go unchecked!

What a load of BS X 1000 from Greenwald: “They don’t have any belief system, they don’t have any political views,

I don’t have any words for this sob and his lies. Scum, is all, just scum.

“What we’re going to do is we’re going to break up my jobs bill. Maybe they just couldn’t understand the whole all at once. So we’re going to break it up into bite-size pieces so they can take a thoughtful approach to this legislation.
These are PBO’s words yesterday in NC! I LOVE THIS!!!!
“Maybe they couldn’t understand the whole all at once….” HAHAHAHAHAHA!
