Mrs. O is absolutely the cutest. I love that she’s out and about in her mystery disguise without anybody knowing it. No wonder she’s so balanced and human 100% of the time!! Sweet.

The Obamas are so incredibly normal. I love that about them. The President through the 10 letters he reads every night and the close friends he has from Chicago finds a way to keep in touch with ordinary peoples lives, the goings in and out, the pain felt from the recession, the joy felt from finding a job, the joy felt from being able to afford healthcare due to ACA, the joy of being able to retain ones job due to the stimulus and other job creating measures achieved by his administration. The First Lady through letters she receives, going out incognito so their girls never forget that not all Americans live in a position of comfort, so that she gets away from the Washington cocktail set with their fake platitudes and gets out into the real world to see and feel how ordinary people are getting along day by day, maybe sometimes chat with them and get a different perspective of what agendas they would like the Government to pursue on their collective behalves. We have a wonderful, compassionate and REAL POTUS and FLOTUS in the White House and I for one am immensely thankful.

No it won’t. That’s a PL meme. The president has put in protections for displaced workers along the agreement – something that was lacking in Dubbya’s version.

I’ve been writing DeFazio all summer since he’s my de facto Congressman (damn you, David Wu) until the special election. I’ve told him repeatedly to stop being so contrary about the President’s agenda. It is disrespectful to PBO and NOT helping those of us in the trenches with OFA registering voters and trying to get Democrats like him re-elected. I’m also incredibly upset with Jon Tester and Ben Nelson for filibustering the Republicans on the jobs bill. How can ANY Democrat oppose it?

Do you think it would be counter-productive to write chairs of DNC (Debbie Wasserman-Schultz), DCCC (Chris Van Hollen, I think), and DSCC (Patty Murray) and threaten to withhold further donations unless they promise not to give any of our $ to these traitors? I will make it clear I’ll donate directly to Democrats who support the President. Maybe the power of the purse will talk when moral persuasion and repeated polls about what the American people want do not.

      • October 12, 2011 at 10:41 am

Not DNC, she works for the President, other two, yes.

      • 20 dotster3
        October 12, 2011 at 10:43 am

Every time I get a request for a donation from any Dem source, I reply that I will only donate to Dems who step forward and openly support President Obama.

      • October 12, 2011 at 11:03 am

Here’s the problem as I see it. Nelson and other conservaDems come from red states. They vote with the Dems about 70% of the time. There are only about 3 Republicans who vote with the Dems, rarely. At least 97% of Republicans never vote with the Dems. So…..do we want Blue Dogs from red states who will vote with Dems the majority of the time or do we want Republicans who will never vote with the Dems?

        • 22 Judith Fardig
          October 12, 2011 at 12:21 pm

Thanks for your perspective. I tweeted Tester and Nelson directly yesterday and called them out for their filibuster vote. I just do not understand how anyone, much less two Democrats, could be so heartless as to not even bring this bill up for discussion and vote. Don’t they see the pain and despair of the jobless in their own districts and hear that primal scream in the streets of the protests against the greedy callousness of too many of the top 1%?
I hope OWS starts pounding Congress for passage of the AJA piecemeal if nothing else.

Thank you for reminding us about Africa, Donna. During our call to action yesterday, I know if she had been present on the blog she would have been as fired up as the rest of the TOD family in getting certain feckless congressmembers from both sides of the aisle to do right by the American people.

Hey Africa, I just wanted to let you know that the TOD family is thinking about you as you cope with the loss of your mother. We know you can’t be here with us in real time, but we’re all sending you prayers and good wishes. We’re all sending you hugs of comfort, warmth, courage and strength to deal with this trying time and come through on the other side of the tunnel a more resilient human being. I sincerely hope that your new job is progressing along in leaps and bounds and all is well with your nuclear family. Take heart dear friend and when you’re strong enough, please do drop by. In the meantime, we’ll continue the valiant effort of making our congressmembers do their jobs, getting President Obama’s American Jobs Act to pass and making sure that President Obama wins re-election.

      • October 12, 2011 at 11:39 am

Africa, I second all that utaustinliberal says. You are in my prayers and thoughts as you cope with your sad loss. God bless you.

I also send my prayers and hugs to Africa as I mentioned earlier this week. Also, we keep good thoughts for Sue as well. So Africa and Sue I pray that your strength will be stable knowing that you are loved, lifted up in our thoughts and prayers. Sue, continue to rest and be careful. Sending love and BIG hugs to both of you. I send my love,HZ

Combining my good wishes with others (in the hope they’ll pack a bigger punch up) for Africa and Sue in M, as well as for Roberta and her sister, and others unnamed who may be in pain. May you all feel strengthened by our positive wishes.

The First Lady is so adorable.

I am posting the candle link this morning for anyone who would like to light a candle for our President, First Family and the Nation. The President says he is a fourth quarter player so I know he’s got our back, but it never hurts to give him some backup.

Mcclutchy – ‘herb’ cain takes the lead SC poll.

I am hoping this know-nothing becomes the rethugs’ nominee. I want the racists all over the amurikkkan map go apeshit crazy and shoot themselves.

    • 36 PoliticalJunkessa
      October 12, 2011 at 10:17 am

I think these crazy poll results are evidence of a weird type of malaise on the republican side. They don’t like Willard, they know Perry is not up to the task, and the rest are an assortment of crazy and crazier. So they figure, “let’s vote for the gimmicky black dude — he’ll show Obama! See, I’m not a racist!” The psychology of this is very interesting. It’s almost (not quite, but almost) like they’ve given up. There’s nobody on that republican roster that can energize or inspire. I think they’re depressed. LOL.

    • October 12, 2011 at 10:21 am

Not only that, it makes Cornell west and friends look foolish! Because, if they dont criticize Herman Cain, then everybody will know it is personal, between him and the President.
I mean, have any of you heard West come out and say Herb is a plutocrat?

    • 38 donna dem 4 obama
      October 12, 2011 at 10:23 am

I was thinking about his last night, not the shooting themselves part 🙂 but they will go crazy if Cain is nominated but I’m not so sure he couldn’t win the Republican nomination any longer. They voted in Steele as Chairman to prove to everyone, “see we have black people too”. They might just think that this will somehow make their party look more reasonable and inclusive to the independents. Trust me it won’t fool any AA’s to make a difference but they might just be crazy enough to try this.

Except so many racists will stay home if they have a choice between 2 black men; they will just give up and resort to armed resurrection, which they already are itching for. Me thinks they’d better stick with the white guy. Of course upon a second PBO term, we just may see that resurrection anyway.

Beautiful Michelle. How does anyone NOT recognize this woman? She could walk around with a bag over her head, and I would know it was her because of the kindness that radiates from under the bag:) How does she do this without calling attention to herself? Must be an armored Prius driving around DC….doubt she drives up in The Beast! That said, I’m so glad that she gets to do this from time to time…how cathartic.Absolutely adore this woman.

She uses a black SUV and this area is so diverse that you really wouldn’t notice. I had a girl friend of mine tell me that she saw Mrs. Robinson (the First Granny) at Macy’s the department store in Tysons Corner. Just walking around shopping. No one was bothering her and few people recognized her.

I read before that she sneaks away quite often with gal friends to go shopping and out to lunch in Va. etc. A hat and shades, and I guess most people are too self-absorbed to notice. I would notice, though, because here is a nice thing I try to do because I’m nice :)—-I try to look in the eyes of everyone I meet during the day and SMILE. It’s like magic. Everyone looks grateful and smiles back. It makes me feel good, makes them feel good, makes everyone’s day a little nicer. Try it!

But you’re right; if I catch someone smiling at me, I smile right back. And it is a great feeling.

Oh Donna, thanks for the link………..I love it.
What Mr. Bennett said is absolutely true.
The expression on Pier’s Morgan’s face is priceless. He was probably expecting something negative but didn’t get it.

      • October 12, 2011 at 10:43 am

Yeah, the asshole piers couldn’t stomach it when TB called Obama an intellectual. When the punk tried rephrase TB’s intellectual comment into ‘he is intelligent, TB smacked him down and doubled down on the intellectual part. TB spoke from heart.

        • October 12, 2011 at 11:45 am

IIRC, Tony Bennett has actually met PBO so he would know firsthand what he’s talking about. I haven’t heard/read that Piers Morgan has ever been invited to the WH, so his opinions are based solely on conjecture.

I don’t watch that show but seems to me he keeps inviting people on who support the President. Could he be a masochist? Also, I knew there was something to Mr. Bennett that I find so moving. He has a gentle spirit, and is a real humanitarian. And, he’s smart. The last of a golden era.

After the vote on AJA, I do not know how people feel about this repeated proclamation about the so-called moderate republican senators from The Great State of Maine (Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins) and that fake play boy Scott Brown.

I believe that Senators who win their positions based on a substantial number of democratic votes need to show that they appreciate it by returning the voters confidence in them on issues that are not controversial like the AJA especially in a times of economic crisis.

Democratic voters in these states and around the country need to demand accountability from these so-called moderates. Show your face on behalf of the people who are hurting.

if we ignore their no vote on the AJA and let them get off free then they will be under no pressure when the parts of the jobs bill come up for vote later.

in addition to the two democratic dessenters, I feel that today we should call up Collins, Snowe and Brown and ask them WHY they did not support the AJA which contained bipartisan ideas and yet their position in the senate relies on democratic support. we should at least express our displeasure with these senators so that we can push them to vote the right way in a few weeks.

what do you think about challenging the so-called republican moderates on their shameful votes on AJA last night?
