Friend —
President Obama is in Dallas today urging Americans who support the American Jobs Act to demand that Congress pass it already.
Though it’s been nearly a month since he laid out this plan, House Republicans haven’t acted to pass it. And House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is out there actually bragging that they won’t even put the jobs package up for a vote — ever.
It’s not clear which part of the bill they now object to: building roads, hiring teachers, getting veterans back to work. They’re willing to block the American Jobs Act — and they think you won’t do anything about it.
But here’s something you can do: Find Republican members of Congress on Twitter, call them out, and demand they pass this bill.
Be the first to use our new tool and tweet for jobs.
Here’s why we built this new tool, and why it’s important.
If you’ve written letters or sent email to Congress before, you know it can be a frustrating experience — sometimes it takes them weeks to respond, and sometimes they don’t respond at all.
But many members of Congress personally receive the messages sent to them on Twitter, so you have a better chance of getting your message directly to them.
And even if they don’t respond, your message will be public — front and center for everyone who follows you or your representative. That means their staff, other constituents, and the media will see the mounting pressure.
So tweet for jobs now:

I love the Obama team. They’re technology wizards. They know that Twitter is a powerful tool and only takes seconds to get your message across loud and clear for all the world to see.
Press On TOD and Tweet On.
Love the 2012 picture through the camera’s lense Chips. Very nice! 🙂
Oh, I loved using that Tweet-for-Jobs tool! So glad I was encouraged (by my son and CanadaBarb !!!) to get on Twitter. Never thought I could say anything in 140 characters, but turns out I can (but only with a built-in counter)! 🙂
Love your 140 character comment, Jackie. Please keep tweeting those twits. What in the world is the matter with them? Not even bringing up the bill for a vote? Then again, you’ve got 54% of R who think the taxes on millionaires should not be raised.
I tried the tweet and I couldn’t get pass the choose which tweet. I would click on which on I wanted and it wouldn’t tweet it. Is anyone else having problems?
ME TOO..SAME THING HAPPENED HERE!
I had the same problem in Firefox but when I went to Safari it was fine. Try another browser. Chrome, Opera or event the dreaded IE might work. :->
PS – Welcome back Sue, so glad to have you back in the fold again.
I just tried it again and it worked this time and I was in Firefox.
Nifty! It’s so easy! The only republican that comes up for me is john boehner though – I tweeted him anyway. Very cool! 🙂
Here is another COOL website – and we have Donna to thank for it.
I was at her Facebook page and someone made a comment about a site that not only emails your elected officials, but shows you trends in the email (oopose or support) lists optional comments folks make and shows who has endorsed the bill.
So I went over and made an account.
Here is the data from California, if you guys can’t see it without being checked in let me know and I will make a web page with the data.
This is so cool, if we could get an account in every state we could see trends on relevant issues right up until the election.

Linda, that IS cool. I LIKE it. You can click on each state though and get info about each one. There are only two comments from minnesota and they are both supporting the AJA. Love that. Thanks!
This is a fantastic tool! Thanks to both you and Donna for sharing. Really great – interesting comments, too.
I just wrote a letter to two local papers using the form provided. I sent a letter a few weeks ago to the Atlantic City Press and it was published. i even included the phone number of the rep. in NJ2 so hopefully some people called. The rep. is a republican and he is hopeless but not a Tea Party guy . I did speak to someone from his office not just the phone answerer and he said the bill would probably be broken into pieces. That was a couple weeks ago before Cantor’s statement. Politics as usual–
Chipsticks I kindly beg you to delete the vile comment Jovie left you on the last thread it’s going to depress and anger so many people that VALUE and support the work and sacrifice you put in on this blog. Please also delete this comment I don’t want to ruin this thread I just wanted to make my voice heard. Thank you and my heart aches for u right now. #PRESS ON.
Hiya M4O, I’m so sorry that all that craziness upset you, thank you so much for being so kind about it.
The only reason I let two of Jovie’s comments through – you should see how many more are in the spam folder! – is to give people an idea of why s/he is banned.
I know most people hugely appreciated Jovie’s brilliant links, as I did too, but s/he also posted endless stuff that I had to delete, including links to hit pieces on the President from right-wing trash sites.
I repeatedly asked Jovie to stop posting them, but s/he kept doing it, so I put her/him on pending.
When s/he finally agreed not to post that crap here anymore, I took her/him off pending.
But the Troy Davis thread was the final straw. Again, I asked her/him to stop spamming the thread with links unrelated to Troy Davis, on what was a very painful night for everyone, and s/he ignored my request and kept spamming.
As I said before, life’s too short for all of this, so that was the end of Jovie’s involvement on the site. I’ll miss her/his great links, but I won’t miss the endless grief.
Just wanted to explain.
Thanks again M4O, Jovie won’t be appearing on this site again.
I fully support this decision (as though that means anything, lol).
I had learned to scroll past 99% of Jovie’s posts on this site and others. I have an issue with people who always bring the hair! on! fire! all! the! time! drama. They’re not happy unless people are in a perpetual state of fear/anxiety/alert. Just my 2 cents.
Anyhoo, thanks again for all you do, Chips. You’re priceless. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Just know you are the ROCK of this Family and you shouldn’t be abused and insulted in your own HOME. I, we need you more than you know #PRESS ON.
Thanks PJ 😉
I think Jovie has too much of an affinity for the exclamation point.
Chips, you are in charge of this great place. I respect and admire all of the hard work you put into maintaining a positive community of support for President Obama who is very dear to all of us for a multitude of reasons. If you warn someone and they don’t take heed, then they bring it on themselves. It’s a shame but your rules are clear and agreeable. Thanks.
I just read this story at CBS – heart wrenching
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501465_162-20114744-501465.html
It leads to a site with folks who are putting up their stories – the 99%
http://wearethe99percent.tumblr.com/
This is who the President is fighting for.
Thanks WIW….
Everyone wants a picture of my President. He has got to be the most photographed person in the world right now.
I was also encouraged to read this story on CBS

the sign in the photo lists Jobs, Education and Health Care, all 3 thing PBO supports and Republicans are trying to kill. Works for me.
