Obama To Cantor: Dismantle My Jobs Bill At Your Own Risk

The White House Monday continued its war of words with House Republicans over their unwillingness to move his entire jobs package, confidently vowing to let voters decide how to react to Republicans’ refusal to pass provisions such as infrastructure spending and retaining teachers.

I hope the people don’t let the President down. Especially those people all excited over the Occupy Wall Street activities – remember, there’s immediate work that needs doing for AJA.

Okay, UTALib, [aka Ms Tweeter] do you recognize Daily News (@ellerich17) and Janice Washington (@JaniceGW) who are asking to follow me on Twitter? Why would a news person want to follow me? I hardly say much. Please share your tweeter-opinion. Thanks

        October 3, 2011 at 10:14 pm

If someone I don’t recognize asks to follow me, I check out their last few tweets. Quick way to see if you need to block them or not. Sometimes people are good, but they have too much personal stuff in their timeline and I’d rather not see all of that. I leave them to follow me, and I just don’t follow back. That way, it’s a few more people who might see timely information.

Hey VC, @JaniceGW is safe to follow. A bunch of TOD’ers follow her and she is a FIERCE supporter of President Obama. As for Daily News, it is a conservative think tank wannabe. I saw a bunch of their tweets and they were disgusting. Preaching xenophobia, hate of muslims, President Obama is evil…… blah blah blah. So my advice: Don’t follow Daily News. Save yourself the high blood pressure. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions or requests feel free to ask. 🙂

      • October 3, 2011 at 10:20 pm

I’ve learned to be very discriminating when I chose people to follow. I check out their tweets and if there are a lot of personal info, or too much sports, or fringy talk I just leave them alone. I can barely keep up with the people I do follow.

      • October 4, 2011 at 8:25 am

Janice Washington has been an Obama supporter, she has posted at the Only Adult for sometime and used to write diaries at DailyKos. I think she’s with “Color of Change”.. I could be wrong on that, not sure.

When he said..That if congress doesn’t pass the bill..He will take it to every corner…He Really Meant It…God Bless Him. These no good Congress are really worthless, I just read that Cantor wants to dismantle the bill..and PBO is getting impatient with the Teaparty/Congress, that will not give the American people what they desperately need “JOBS”.

I’ve been tweeting for everyone to call Cantor’s and Boehner’s office and we should bombard them with calls, emails, fax, tweets.
PBO needs our help, he can’t do it alone, while Cantor and Boehner are playing the delay game…The more they delay….the less likely for the economy to gets better…

It’s always like he’s alone, fighting alone…the teabaggers on one side and the cowards on the other.

I respect some Democrats but not all that’s for sure and I won’t describe how I feel about the GOP, I would need to censor myself.
    Who’s helping the President?
What’s with the timing of that travesty of a protest on WS?

Endorsed by Michael Moore, Cornell West, Dylan Ratigan, Huffington, etc,.
Hijacked as usual by the same frauds

Why can’t they call out the teabaggers in Congress to pass the President’s bill?
Now it’s all about Washington and Wall Street, their message is so vague.

Well we know how the frauds who hijacked the protest feel about the President though, that’s not vague.

I find it very suspicious to say the least, the timing of the protest that is.

Yep…As as I said yesterday…This President had to fight to pass the biggest Financial Reform since the Great Depression…and when Bush approved Tarp…they were all blaming PBO for it…It is amazing that no one demonstrated while this President tried to pass most sweeping laws..Where were they in the DEBT Ceiling? Health Care? and so on…..I am beginning to think that, this is yet another distraction to bury PBO’s JOB BILL message….If Van Jones, Moore really cared, they would incorporated the AJA in their demonstration.

There’s no AmericanDream, with out a Job…and most of the demonstrators I am sure are unemployed and looking for a job. I think that the timing of this whole thing is disturbing, especially when I see the likes of Moore, Cornell.
Van Jones heart might be in the right place, but to not champion for AJA is really non-productive IMHO

I know how you feel, Christi – he’s out there on his own. And it’s either the media doing a blackout on the Dems, or the Dems keeping silent. When I heard Sen. Reid saying they’ll get to the AJA eventually, and then tabling immediately some nonsense, non-emergency bill to sanction China if they manipulate their currency – I was screaming in the car. They are busy doing foreign policy and interfering with the President’s job – making it harder – instead of doing their jobs to authorize the AJA! And for once, I agreed with the GOP that they are playing with fire starting a trade war with China right when the country needs to increase trade opportunities with the Asian community. And not to mention that there’s an Asian conference in a couple of weeks, hosted by POTUS. Whomever said that Dems are really good at grasping defeat from the jaws of victory, really knew what they were talking about – ahem…

My displeasure with the Democratic party is growing by the day. After PBO serves his second term I will probably become an independent. I will never vote Rethug, but it is just exasperating to watch how weak and DOCILE the DEMs are. PBO can win re-election on his own merit, but he won’t thave much of a congress to work with unless these back stabbing Dems, turncoat Dems, racist Dems, CBC Dems, get off their collective asses and do some work to advance our Progressive agenda. 😡 Obama/Biden 2012!!

I had such great hopes with DWS in charge, and the beginning of the summer, Democratic messaging looked like it was finally on the right track. When they took their month off in August after the debt ceiling battle, it’s as if the Dem’s disappeared — again, ceding the narrative to Republicans and leaving the President out there on his own to fight all of the battles himself. I’m thoroughly disgusted.

At some point, it is no longer laudable to talk about our ‘big tent’ if the party cannot realistically assess their enemy and fight them effectively. It is unconscionable that the party cannot decide on some broad principles and fight for those broad principles with a unified voice. That doesn’t mean there isn’t room for disagreement — but how does a major American political party not understand that there must be some unity in order to achieve electoral success?

What was the story throughout August and September? The CBC. They were allowed to say and do whatever they wanted, with no marginalization from the party or finding a means of bringing them back under the tent and using that same energy against our real enemies. Our enemy is not Obama, for God’s sake. It’s Republicans. Unfortunately, that buck stops with Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. I’m very disappointed.

Republicans got where they got with lies because they were unified. We can’t seem to get anywhere, and we have truth on our side.

Well said 57. I was excited for Wasserman Shulz as well. Where has she gone? The President selected her. Does he contact her to see what is up with Dem messaging to reign in her renegade legislators? President Obama is not the problem. He has been campaigning and carrying the AJA and deficit reduction TORCH/message all by himself.

    What the holy hell???

Has anyone else seen this video? Herman Cain Says He Plans To “Update” “Hail To The Chief”; Fox’s Wallace Asks If That Means “Hip Hop”

So Hermain Cain was interviewed by Chris Wallace on FOXNews and Herman Cain made an offhand comment about “updating” “Hail to the Chief” and Chris Wallace literally asks Herman Cain if he plans to “hip-hop” it up?????

WTH??? Let’s forget for a moment that Herman Cain doesn’t really fall into the “hip-hop” demographic age group, but what is it about Herman Cain that makes Chris Wallace think he would “hip-hop” up anything????

    • 25 utaustinliberal
      October 3, 2011 at 10:25 pm

Chris Wallace is a tool. I hate it when certain (not all) white people try to denigrate Hip Hop. What the hell did he mean try to Hip Hop it up? First of all, lamh31 you’re right that Cain doesn’t fall into the Hip Hop generation and second of all if these bozos understood what real Hip Hop was they wouldn’t denigrate it. Real Hip Hop is lyrical, its poetry, it tells the struggle of a people, it speaks of the anger of people who are constantly being alienated and made to feel downtrodden. Hip Hop gave rise to many many genres of music. Hip Hop is rhyme, musicality, and soul. Many of these idiots who denigrate Hip Hop have children who are the greatest consumers of the genre. They all spew ignorant rantings against what they don’t understand.

I know exactly what Wallace was getting at. He was snidely suggesting that Cain was going to update Hail to the Chief into a tacky inferior version using Hip Hop slang. If a white candidate had said he or she was going to update Hail to the Chief, Wallace would never have uttered such ignorant words.

First apologies if this has been asked in other threads. Found it disturbing in its wording and pretense at anonimity. It’s an ad that’s been running non-stop all evening/night in the DC Metro market, and I’ve seen it many times on NBC tonight, could be running on other stations. I don’t know. It’s an ad that starts off against WV Gov. Tomblin & what they call his support of “Obamacare.” Yep, that’s what they’re calling it! Anyhoo, it says that “Obamacare” is (and here I quote) “going to jack up taxes on businesses, & destroy jobs. STOP OBAMA [their vocal emphasis], stop Tomblin from implementing Obamacare” [and they add the (304) phone number to call]. BTW, note the “Stop Obama” bit & the Tomblin bit that follows. Then that voice states: “Paid for by the Republican Governor’s’ Public Policy Committee. Not authorized by a candidate or committee.” Does anyone know who these people are, who’s behind them? I’m also wondering if it’s been all over the TV stations in WV. I know DC Metro market gets picked up in WV, but is the ad showing up on local WV stations? Many thanks!

I’m in the DC metro area and I’ve seen the ad but I would imagine it’s one of the usual suspects that fund Republicans (koch bros, etc). The election is tomorrow and it’s going to be tight race between Tomblin and his R opponent. But then again this is West Virginia.

        October 3, 2011 at 11:30 pm

Thanks, hopefruit2, I couldn’t seem to get away from that ad tonight. We need to nip them in the bud, put a name(s) to their guise, because they’re not going to stop at Tomblin or WV. The main focus was stop Obama. Would not be surprised if it’s done by the usual suspects!

      • 48 hopefruit2
        October 3, 2011 at 11:36 pm

The media is so disingenuous…this article tries to have it both ways in favor of the Repubs by suggesting that if the Republican wins it’s going to be a sign of defeat for Obama, but if the Democrat wins, Democrats should not be too happy about it because Tomblin is for NRA, etc…

I mean, the fact remains that this gubernatorial race is about local politics and restricted to the candidates on the ballot. Has no national implications and isn’t a referendum on the President.

        October 3, 2011 at 11:54 pm

Darn, desertflower, instead of Tomblin backing away from the healthcare issue & our President, he needed to totally embrace it all and show his constituents all the ways they’ve benefited, and can benefit. I’m praying the Dem party pulls together nationwide because I don’t want my foot to kick the air by their backbones. OK, time for me to contact those people on my “payroll” (that is, Congress) & give a kick to something firm. I think these guys behind that ad are going to become increasingly rancid as we get closer the election.

        Zulu-

It seems like there are several things happening at once. I break it down this way for myself. 1. I keep yammering at congress critters about the AJA. 2. occupy movement: is there a way to influence this movement to remind them that the AJA is important. That’s it. As far as voter suppression, I’ve signed a petition for PA and am about to write my own congress critters about redistricting in my state. but i need to educate myself further. I agree though, it is important. very.

I don’t get worked up about the media so much cuz I stopped watching those guys months ago. better for my blood pressure. I’m glad that some people do take them to task because people listen to them and are influenced by them. once the aja gets passed, i’d have more time for yakking at these MSM yahoos.

but i’m just one person and can only do so many things. However there are resources. check over on the side of this blog and you’ll see “contact congress” there are several people : the congress, of course. the super committee, the reticent democrats. (which by the way I’ve heard from a couple sound like they’re more on board.)

Does this help? yes. applied pressure from a mass of people help to change things. also one voice can change things. case in point: PBO.

So check out WIW on the side where it says “congress critters” that’s a start. write, email, tweet. make yourself heard.

good luck let us know what you find! let us know if you hear from someone! Whatever you can do to help is a job well done.

      • October 4, 2011 at 8:52 am

First, I think everybody has to write or call DOJ to ask them to investigate. Then write or call Dem members of Congress to ask them to urge an investigation since DOJ is more likely to respond to a member of Congress. Write, call and complain to state reps. If all else fails, learn these new restrictions cold. Then organize around them If people have to go to a DMV to get an ID, organize cars/vans to take them there. If the IDs cost money, fundraise. If there are restrictions on who can register voters, work around them. Make sure you bring everyone to the polls on election day, even if you have to rent vans to do so. Then make sure to sign up to be a poll watcher and make sure that no “unnecessary” restrictions are placed on people when they come to vote. Have backup teams behind you so that your protest can bring in support if you need it.

The state of Pennsylvania has always made it hard for voters, even under Democratic governors. We have early voter registration deadlines, no early voting, many restrictions and lots of delays on election day. But in the past (before the threat of gerry rigging the electoral votes) we managed to overcome. Learn the rules and make them work for you.
