This comment takes the cake. Chris Matthews just said on Morning Joe that President Obama is too “debonair” and not angry enough.

    • October 3, 2011 at 7:53 am

Matthews is ridiculous. I’ll never forget how during Weinergate he had Coward on and Matthews asked Coward if perhaps Weiner was such a scumbag because of his wife (trying to blame the wife for the husband’s stupidity)—- in my opinion. I’ll say one thing about Coward: He immediately knocked that stupid 1932 sentiment down with something like”that’s ridiculous, blah, blah, blah” I must admit to being surprised when he didn’t get any blowback from anyone. When I first heard him, I thought I was hallucinating. In fact, as I write this down, I’m tempted to believe it was a product of my own imaginings, except for the feeling of WTF?! I remember.

      • October 3, 2011 at 8:51 am

He’s getting slammed on Twitter for that comment. I told him as an American I was offended at his insult to the President and that he should apologize. I told him no one’s going to watch that mess of a show he’s been pushing where he and Michael Moore are going to tell the President how to run for re-election. What jokes these people are.

Good on you proud! You know, when I saw that he was having his little “roundtable discussion” of what all of them thought PBO should do for his re election…it made my blood boil! Like they are experts on political election strategy! Poor David Plouffe…hasn’t the slightest idea what he’s doing, and THEY all know so much better than the professional! The arrogance is stunning.Glad you called him out.

            October 3, 2011 at 11:03 am

Yes, David Plouffe has no idea how to run a campaign and the first black President needs lessons from Tweety and Moore on how to be a politician. All of these “experts” feel the need to give advice to the President, but none of them call out repugs for anything. They let Romney lie, and never demand that he explain himself and never demand anything of any of the repug candidates.

i switched off Chris Matthews after that “President of the World” fiasco. Where was his President of the world during the eight years of the Bush Administration – and the fact that Bill Clinton didn’t force them not to air that crap told me what I needed to know about Bill Clinton’s ego, too. As someone who formerly held the office, and knows how hard it is, he should never have allowed that show to air. I won’t forget.

I saw that too Bill. Chris Matthews must have mental issues. One day he’s up; the next day he’s down and always spewing spit in every direction. He was absolutely disgusting on Morning Joe today. Downright stupid. He said that everything is working against President Obama because he’s too debonair(he stopped short of calling him elitist and instead paused and used the word debonair) and he’s not angry enough. That PBO is too breezy and casual. That PBO keeps telling people to keep calm and carry on and people don’t want to hear that. They want an angry President who will shake and pound his fists and scream from the rooftops. That’s why many people are gravitating towards Chris Christie. He basically said that’s the reason for Chris Christie’s positive poll numbers. That Christie tells it like it is. He’s macho, he’s in your face, he doesn’t back down from confrontation. He represents the everyday man because he’s showing righteous anger. Yet in the same breath Matthews admitted that for all the anger Christie is showing, it hasn’t reflected in real legislation. He’s slashed education funding, New Jersey’s unemployment rate is higher than the national unemployment rate, the rich are getting richer in New Jersey, Christie never tries to be bi-partisan, when they poll women; women don’t respond favorably to him because he’s rude, condescending, and a bully. On the other hand for all his “breeziness” President Obama has more than delivered substantive legislation that benefits every single American.

I would like to ask Matthews aka idiotic moron; after a President gets mad and screams from the rooftops; if there is no substantive legislation or bill or law that benefits people what the hell was all the shouting and yelling for? I don’t want a President who thinks that in order to be “macho” he has to be a rude, priggish, condescending jerk and an outright bully whom everyone fears. That’s an empty suit President and that is exactly what Chris Christie is. An empty suit.

        October 3, 2011 at 9:17 am

Tweety is an ignorant jerk. He basically said the same thing about Perry that he’s now saying about Christie. That does NOT bode well for Christie. I predicted a few months ago that Coward Fineman and Tweety’s drooling over Perry did not bode well for him. I was right. And I’m right about my current predictions where Christie is concerned – if he decides to run that is.

      • 12 hopefruit2
        October 3, 2011 at 9:24 am

Matthews and his sidekick Fineman both 60-something, are still stuck in that adolescent male phase of development. Their arrested development probably stem from their own insecurities in adolescence that they never came to grips with and has had them fixated on vapid displays of machismo, bullying, threats, aggression, etc. They are projecting their own BS on the President who they know to be more capable than them in just about every area one could imagine.

Tweety and his sidekick Fineboy = EPIC FAIL.

      • October 3, 2011 at 10:02 am

The media is so full of BS and Chris Matthews is tops on that list… how effing ironic that he’s on Morning Joe calling POTUS ‘debonair’ when only a month ago, his pal from Politico was on the same show calling POTUS a ‘dick’. I think we know what I think of all these scumballs.

      • October 3, 2011 at 10:05 am

Oh and wasn’t it just last week when all media was up in arms ’cause POTUS was being ‘mean’ to the CBC over some bedroom slippers?

My Gawd they’re pathetic in their obvious attempts to push this election to republicans.

Chipsticks are you sure about the name of the city in Texas. There is no Eastville, TX. I live in TX I was thinking of going after seeing your post, but when I checked on Google and Wikipedia, there is no city listed in Texas named Eastville.

    • October 3, 2011 at 8:22 am

Hiya Viv – oh, sorry about that! Time names the place as Eastville, but I’ll check somewhere else for the correct name. Thanks Viv.

      Update! Found it:

Now you can tell Time that they need to make sure they’re reporting accurate information 🙂 Have a great day and THANK you for all that you do. Chipsticks, this is way off topic. I post TOD on FB all the time; and each time I think, “Wonder if we could change the picture to one of PBO without sunglasses. . . . ” So that’s my query and my request, actually. Thanks. xoxox

        • October 3, 2011 at 9:50 am

Hi Sara, thanks for posting to FB! I’m confused – which photo with sunglasses do you mean? Thanks.

          • October 3, 2011 at 11:46 am

The photo that shows up when I post TOD to my FB is similar to what ProudofObama uses here on TOD, except PBO has a fine smile on his face. Have you posted something from TOD to your FB? If you do/have, then I think you will see what I mean. I think we oughta have a picture of POB like what your are using for Chipsticks. If you go onto facebook and look at my homepage, you’ll see what I mean, where I have posted from TOD to FB.
If I am not making sense, let’s correspond by email. I’m saracarternc@gmail.com. Thanks

Pundits fare poorly on the Truth-O-Meter

“The results, shown in the table below, reveal that pundits and talk show hosts get more False and Pants on Fire ratings — and fewer Trues — than the overall totals. (Keep that in mind the next time you’re watching cable news!)”

I bet you won’t hear this discussed on your cable shows anytime soon.

Does anyone else have problem accessing TOD via firefox browser ? The site simple hangs in ff.

Only google chrome seems to work for wordpress and I hate chrome due to privacy issues.

    • October 3, 2011 at 8:35 am

I have the newest FF version…….it works great for me. So I’m not sure we can blame FF for problems, at least not on my computer.

      • October 3, 2011 at 8:44 am

Thanks Sequana, it seems like an updated Firefox and Chrome are the best bets with WordPress blogs, everything else seems to cause problems – and being clueless about these things, I have no idea how to fix them!

      • October 3, 2011 at 9:33 am

FF doesn’t have problems with other wordpress blogs like bwd’s. It’s frustrating not knowing how to fix this issue.

    • October 3, 2011 at 8:36 am

Hi amk, yikes – Firefox is causing you problems? Have you updated to the latest version, 7.0.1?

      • October 3, 2011 at 8:48 am

FF 6.0.2, 7.0, 7.0.1 – nothing seems to work. I did a clean install every time in each of these cases. The damning part is that once I click TOD, the thing just hangs for hours together (that annoying round and round indicator) and I can’t access any other sites. It won’t even show an error message. I had to close the browser and start all over again. Plenty of complaints in FF dashboard about their poor performance all around (not related to TOD)

As of now I am using the much chrome to access TOD.

Chips, it’s on twitter that PBO is being interviewed by George S of ABC on 2:30p. Don’t know when it will air or anything else.

  10. October 3, 2011 at 9:03 am

Here’s a story to tweet and make vital. Romney personally benefits from tax rule that PBO’s Buffet rule would stop. From WaPO:

Mitt Romney would be targeted by the “Buffett Rule”: Start your morning off with this must read from Michael Scherer: Mitt Romney might be vulnerable in a general election because he is exactly the sort of wealthy individual who has personally benefitted from the unfair tax rates that Obama is seeking to overhaul.

Key takeaway: If Romney were to argue in a general election against Obama’s push for tax fairness, the President would have a pretty clear rejoinder: He could note that Romney is personally benefitting from the current system. Romney’s personal wealth from investments would seem to render him a less than ideal messenger on this issue — and tax fairness is likely to be central to Campaign 2012.

Contact the Whitehouse, show your support for the AJA, thank them for all they have done, and let them know what our friends and neighbors have been saying. So often our CALLS TO ACTION focus on complaints, I think it is good for our souls to also make time to offer appreciation and support.

    Not sure if posted earlier.

  24. 76 Keith in C-bus, Ohio
    October 3, 2011 at 11:34 am

The Koch brothers are in full blown election STEALING/FR mode. I have friends and family in Chicago who panicked when after watching the Chicago Bears play the local CBS station had a preview of a show documenting how PBO is losing support in his homestate. They were asking regular citizens if they would vote for PBO. All of the ones interviewed said NO. I told my aunts to back up from the ledge and start some research to find out what is behind all of this. I also ask them to work with their local OFA offices and help with voter registration. I told them the MSM, the Teathug state governments and officials are going to any lengths to steal the election. They have no viable candidates to compete with President Obama for the Whitehouse. They will have all these specials and programs and polls to indicate that PBO is on the verge of being a one term Prez to deceive and demoralize the electorate. The GOP base is totally uninspired with their choices so the Koch brothers and Karl Rover are working overtime and underground to keep PBO from a second term. Some of their shananigans is even overt and not hidden.

Its going to get worse, but we will prevail. I know PBO and his staff and campaign team must be aware of what is going on if we are. KEEP HOPE ALIVE FOLKS. Im still working diligently here in Ohio. We are working on overturning our anti-collective bargaining law and the new voting restrictions that our Fascist Ohio Governor Kasich has instituted. The Vote is in November. We also collected the proper amount of signatures on petitions to put the new voting restrictions on the ballot. YES WE CAN, YES WE DID, YES WE WILL AGAIN!! Obama/Biden 2012!!

I think this story deserves a lot of attenton. It’s another excellent New Yorker piece written by the great investigative and ethical journalist, Jane Mayer. I know we’re all aware of all the damage unleashed by the horrific Sup. Ct. Citizens’ United decision. But this story tells how this decision allowed a conservative billionaire’s donations affect an election there which put the state govt. in Repub hands. This is scary stuff for the election—N.Car. will be important again, we’re going to see swiftboat junk all over the place, money can buy an election by the slime it can sling:
