‘the un-bush’

Andrew Sullivan: …. This administration actually is what the Bush administration claimed to be: a relentless executor of the war on terror, armed with real intelligence and lethally accurate execution…..

…. Obama has done in two years what Bush failed to do in eight. He has skillfully done all he can to reset relations with the broader Muslim world (despite the machinations of the Israeli government) while ruthlessly wiping out swathes of Jihadist planners, operatives and foot-soldiers in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He has thereby strengthened us immeasurably both in terms of soft and hard power.

…. Obama has ended torture and pursued a real war, not an ideological spectacle. He has destroyed almost all of al Qaeda of 9/11 (if Zawahiri is taken out, no one is left), obliterated its ranks in Afghanistan and Pakistan, found and killed bin Laden, in a daring raid pushed relentlessly by the president alone, capturing alongside a trove of intelligence, procured as a consequence of courage and tenacity rather than cowardice and torture.

…. Obama is winning the war Bush kept losing. And since Cairo, we have witnessed the real flowering of democratic forces in the Middle East – unseen during the Bush-Cheney years. For all the tireless efforts of the Israelis to cripple US foreign policy against Jihadism, Obama has done the job….

Back in 2001, I wondered if Bush would be the president to win this war, while hoping he would. I wondered if his errors might lead to a successor who learned from them. That hope has now been fulfilled – more swiftly and decisively than I once dared to dream about.

This is a stunning endorsement from Sullivan. But, it’s entirely accurate. This President just gets the job done – and no matter those who say he’s “done nothing”, or whatever other insults they throw at him no matter how dishonest, the facts are the facts. And history will record them. He’s not celebrating the death of human beings, he’s doing what is necessary to protect the people of his country.

I recall Chancellor Merkel who said that he takes his responsibility to serve and protect the American people very seriously. And it shows.

Good read. Sane Americans and people all over the world thank their stars everyday that President Obama is NOTHING like GWB.

I read all of Andrews posting and I agree and disagree with one part and that is the belief that President Obama needs to go out and tout his accomplishment with taking out the Al Qaeda network. I think that others needs to speak out as much or more about this than the president. The media isn’t interested in hearing the president talk about his accomplishment and other journalists and bloggers need to do so for him.

I agree with you Jalenth;the President;members of the Administration and Democrats have got to take ownership of that

have you heard 1 single Democrat comment on that today? NO! predictable? yes but still sad and infuriating

      • September 30, 2011 at 5:46 pm

        Yes, and I concur 🙂

Once again, we ask—“Where are the Democrats?” Every chance I get, every response to every email, every plea for contributions, I say I am only contributing to President Obama and to Democrats who come forward to support him and his policies.

Dotster, that is exactly what I say to every one who asks for my support. Stand up for the president and you get my support and attention. Until then, buzz off. Of course, I’m even less polite when the request comes from someone like James (ugh) Carville.

I see that Jake Tapper and Ezra Klein are making fun of the President’s campaign emails by indulging with some Obama-haters on Twitter….

In the big picture, both of these people are irrelevant.

Hopefruit today is Friday and once again just like the President did when taking down OBL’s terrorist ass;the President let the haters hate and talk while he did and those operating the drones this time do the working.

haters like Tapper and Klein cannot be happy the President won another Democrats are “soft” on terrorist battle once again without them knowing what the hell was about to go down 😉

Sully was spot on! Great article. Great Presidential foreign policy achievements. “War on Terror” done right, and smart.

Remember the infamous Rolling Stone interview with General Stanley McCrystal, and the uproar it caused ? Our remarkable President has come a long way since then hasn’t he? I say thank God for President UnBush.

Today’s the last day for the political fundraising quarter. Just gave $20 to DCCC and $25 to OFA. If you can give, give.

It took #PresidentObama protecting Americans by nailing Alawlaki to reveal that #FOXNEWSTAINERS are actually terrorist sympathizers #PRESSON

As, Jim Wright of #Stonekettle noted:

    Stonekettle Jim Wright
Help, I’m trapped in the bizarro mirror universe. I’m watching Fox where conservatives are actually condemning the killing of al-Awlaki

#GWBush will be remembered for clearing brush while Al Queada prep’d 9/11. #PresidentObama will be remembered for destroying Al Quaeda.

This is a great statement from Sully on the president’s remarkable achievements in national security, but the same can be said for every other area of his responsibility. No one has done more than he has in health care, the environment, education and the economy, against the most hardened and determined opposition. Even the mythic Hercules was given one Augean stable to clean. Our president has to tackle just about one a day. He is really without parallel in modern presidential times.

I am hearing there are some complaints about that terrorists Alawlaki being killed, some say he was an American. No he was born in America, but he turn his back on this country and would have destroy it if he could. So to the ones on the left who are complaining, what did you want for this terrorists to kill more Americans? And I know what the right is complaining about, this is another success for the President and they don’t want to see that.
