Thanks Desertflower

A reminder: Salon’s Gene Lyons described Melissa Harris-Perry as “a left-wing Michele Bachmann, an attractive woman seeking fame and fortune by saying silly things on cable TV”. He dismissed her as a “fool” and likened her thoughtful piece on white ‘liberal’ elite racism to “KKK racial thought”. And Lyons call himself a progressive.

The article written by Gene Lyons was disgusting and for Salon to allow that racist and sexist filth to run says a lot about them. I checked on twitter and it looks like @JoanWalsh is being called out and having to answer for such crap. Good on the twitterers. Salon’s twitter handle is @Salon. The nerve of them.

I saw that this morning, pure filth……
How can anyone open a dialogue with these people? It’s impossible.
      Just denial.
When someone protest too much, there’s a reason.
They only accuse you of playing the race card
Joan Walsh wrote an article, David Sirota (Salon) as well 3 days ago in response to MHP’s article:
”Why white liberals are (really) ditching Obama”
”Racism isn’t responsible for the president’s drop in popularity. His right-wing policies are”

RW policies?? Yea like the repeal of DADT…it’s so RW.

Even after that they didn’t give him any credit, they made him do it and it took him too long…..whatever grrrrrrr

Yes there’s a double standard, yes the way they treat President Obama is disturbing and disgusting, if it’s not racism? What is it? That’s all I see anyway in their attitude, their lack of respect!

I know there’s a lot of ignorance as well as many still think that PO had a SUPER majority of 60 votes in the Senate, which is a lie of course.
Michael Moore for one still believes that and many others. How can you talk about politics if you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

They think they’re so smart but in reality, they know nothing.

They are the left version of the Teaparty.

      Salon is a RW rag

what a douchebag this Lyons person 😯 🙄

Daily Caller won’t back down from false EPA “scoop”

Here’s Politico — noted left-wing rag Politico! — handily debunking the story:

“Hiring the 230,000 full-time employees necessary to produce the 1.4 billion work hours required to address the actual increase in permitting functions would result in an increase in the Title V administration costs of $21 billion per year,” DOJ wrote.

DOJ adds that the tailoring rule is designed specifically to avoid that kind of scenario.

The EPA determined that phasing in the statutory limits would still allow most of the emission benefits “while avoiding the permit gridlock that unquestionably would result from the immediate application” of the thresholds laid out in the Clean Air Act, DOJ said in the brief.

Rumors of EPA’s $21B expansion sets Web ablaze

  4. September 29, 2011 at 2:22 pm

How could Joan be so misunderstood? She has lots of black friends. She just can’t find them right now, She thought Melissa was one of them but that kinda fell thru. i’m sure she’ll be able to dig up the rest of her “friends” if given enough time. 😉

I saw that too. It’s all excuses excuses with this woman. First she castigated PBO for not saying anything about the good work unions do in a speech he gave. He actually did commend unions. Joan didn’t watch the full speech, but still felt it was okay to go off on a rabid rant against PBO. Then Professor Harris-Perry writes her very thoughtful spot on article and Joan rabidily attacks her; because; hey it’s ok I’m a white liberal and Professor Harris-Perry is my black friend; how can I be prejudiced. Then she tries to make excuses for this Gene Lyons piece of filth article. People should also let the owner of Salon David talbot know that they don’t appreciate such filth.

No wonder readership and viewership ratings are going down down the drain for Salon.

And Salon likes to say that they are liberal, yet they are using the same sexist crap from the hard right.

These folks on “the left” who whine and bitch are exactly the reason why many folks dislike liberals as much as the hard right. They demonize those who disagree with them just as much as the hard right does.

I’m glad that their BS is being called out, they want President Obama to lose so that the Republicans get into power and they can continue to do nothing BUT complain.

President Obama hit the right tone Saturday night when he said quit complaining and quit whining. The fact that the professional left takes such offense speaks VOLUMES… did they think that President Obama would just sit back and take this BS and NOT fight back? Did they forget that this is the same man who executed Somali pirates, Osama bin Laden, and swatted a fly?

Keep pushing back against this crap, this is UNACCEPTABLE!!!! 😡 😡 😡 😡

Here is the article that goes with the video.

Who occupies 55 Wall Street? The sprawling, historic Manhattan building is home to the Ciprion Club Residences, a private club as well as residence to Wall Street’s élite.

Gathered on the balconies of this home of the rich, men in suits and tuxedos as well as women in silk dresses and business suits, casually sipped on their glasses while smiling and taking pictures, seemingly oblivious to the fight of the 99 percent.

The club has a total of 106 residences (living quarters) and their website asserts, “The club will provide you with everything essential to live the good life.”

For onlookers “the good life” is a far different cry then that of the remaining 99 percent.

I hope those people get identified…..especially that waving blonde arm candy

Has anyone noticed if Rachel Maddow has said anything regarding this issue since MHP fills in for her when she is on Vacation? I see Chris Hayes has weighed in and is on MHP’s side. Has Ed shultz weighed in yet? I want to hold them accountable since they drag PBO to weigh in on every issue. Please anyone let me know before I tweet them asking where they stand.

These Republicans are exhausting with their evil intentions. I had to check the date on this article, because I could swear we’ve been here before! What is wrong with these people? I hope these plans get brought up in the GOP debates – the Republican candidates have to own what the party is doing, and answer to the American people how these things add jobs, promote a competitive stance for the country, and live up to traditional American values.

    • September 29, 2011 at 5:38 pm

IMHO if the country continues down this path without solving our most pressing issues, it could lead to a civil war of sorts.

Rick Perry’s Budget Cuts Will Leave 49,000 Teachers Without A Job And 43,000 College Students Without Financial Aid

On education, Perry offers the same message: “I don’t think the federal government has a role.” In rebuking the Obama administration’s Race to the Top education funds, Perry said it “smacks of federal takeover of public schools” and “could very well lead to the ‘dumbing down’ of the rigorous standards we’ve worked so hard to enact.”

Fighting the Feds: 2012 Candidates Want States to Control Education

Perry’s education “standards” — exemplified by $4 billion in budget cuts to education for the upcoming budget cycle — will force schools to lay off as many as 49,000 teachers and will leave at least 43,000 college students without financial aid:

Faced with a $15 billion budget deficit this year, Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed off on $4 billion in cuts to education in the 2012 and 2013 budgets. The Texas State Teachers Association estimates that as many as 49,000 teachers may be laid off as a result of the cuts and 43,000 college students will lose all or part of their financial aid.

Indeed, scholarships for 29,000 low-income college students will be completely eliminated.

What’s more, Perry’s axe to the education budget has forced local school districts to impose fees on school programs and services for students and families, universities to find outside money to continue high-level research, and some universities to consider imposing higher tuition or fees on students.

The cuts will entirely eliminate the state’s medical primary care residency program and reduce funding for the family-practice residency by more than 70 percent. In fact, Perry’s entire education vision will result in the loss of more than 100,000 private sector jobs.

I’ve been reinstated at Twitter. Would appreciate your adding Our4thEstate to your list.

The claim is that monitors detected my using the @reply in a way that is abusive – i.e., they probably got some complaints from #Whimperingprogs or charter members of the #crybabycaucus. The Lyons comment is so disgusting – and typical. Like my sister academic Professor Harris-Perry, I did not need to be “trained to find racist symbols in the passing clouds”, I have four hundred plus years of the black experience to hip me to ” white liberal racism”. Lyons can “yada, yada, yada” my Black . . .
