pitiful piers

Sorry to inflict Piers Morgan on you again, but you have to hear this.

The good stuff: the wonderful Dionne Warwick.

The stomach-churning stuff – Morgan: “I’ve had a lot of African Americans on the show – intelligent ones – who have all been disappointed in his delivery of the great promise.”

First, “intelligent ones”? What?

Second, all the African Americans he’s had on his show – who he’s encouraged to express huge disappointment in the President – have criticized him?

Really?

Even Morgan “if I could vote for him 1,000 times, I would” Freeman …. last week?

***

Piers’ face was truly a picture when Dionne said: “I love that man. I think he is brilliant.”

Never mind Piers, you can try again with your next intelligent African American guest.

It is amazing how this guy attempts to make his AA guests say bad things about PBO. Has Waters been on his show yet? She will give him what he wants. A little OT. I just saw on L. O’Donnell show that Christie’s approval rating in NJ is now 54%. Folks sure do have short memories.

I have no words for this moran and people like him. I don’t think Maxine has been on his show, but I wouldn’t rule it out. Can’t stand her either. Didn’t see LO, but I’ll use that crazy word one more time, lol, morans.

And he cooperated with the President and was seen with him. The minute Christie starts dissing PBO, his numbers will go right back down. This is NJ, not Wisconsin or GA.

      • September 29, 2011 at 2:47 am

Its good feelings left over from his handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. He praised the president continuously, toured with him and pushed back on his own party about requiring offsets for disaster funding. Nothing more.

Yep, temporary bump from the good Hurricane relief and the tour with President Obama. As soon as he gets back to the TeaParty agenda with stripping the state of New Jersey’s public sector jobs and collective bargaining his approval will start to disappate. The Rethug BRASS has seen those 54% numbers and believe he can give PBO a run for his moneyin 2012. I say his obesity is a BIG obstical and NO JOKE intended.

Piers Morgan is the scum of the earth. All the African-Americans – like Morgan Freeman, Hill Harper, Will-i-iam – he’s had on his show have expressed 100% support for PBO. I’m glad Dionne Warwick didn’t give him the satisfaction of triumph. As much as he wants the GOP and the teabaggers to prevail; it will NEVER happen.

If we do not elect Obama, the young people of this country and the world are doomed. I have a feeling the PUMAs want to deny this resident a second term as well as powerful forces that are scared of him. I also think they are taking away his base in order to steal the election via dibold machines thats why swing states like ohio, florida have GOP governors especially if it is close.

So true Zulu. The writing is on the wall. How are we to stop this. They want Christie to run to make the race close and have all the swing states mysteriously come out in his favor. 😦 In Ohio we experienced the TRAVESTY of a stolen election twice in 2000 and 2004 by Bush. I have NO children, but I have nieces and nephews and I fear for their future with a Fascist government that is sitting waiting to take over.

I’m seriously thinking of getting some friends together and we can each buy a pair of crap slippers at Big Lots – or better yet – Goodwill/Salvation army and sending ole Maxine some for Christmas. It would be great to have dozens, if not more, sent her way.

There’s that article on Piers in Vanity Fair that I posted awhile ago. Had no idea how vile many, if not most, people find him. He practically was run out of the UK over his shenanigans. When you get a chance just search VF’s site. Well worth the read.

Read some of the article, but how negative of the President can a writer get? I couldn’t even finish reading. The strategy hasn’t worked for PBO? His is an anemic Presidency? Too much acidity against PBO. Everyone looking for him to fail. If one isn’t careful, it’s easy to feel defeated. Actually, I thought PBO looked a little distant these last few days. Some are saying he looks tired……of the fighting, the obstructionism. My heart goes out to him, and I won’t give up, but the word out on him is so damaging and people are very short sighted. As was posted above, Christy with 54% approval. I have no hopes for this country when I see polling like that, and consistent berating of the one man who has worked harder than everybody. Have a good night all.

Approval rating as gov means diddly squat for President. Just remember, when miz palin was selected her approval rating as gov of Alaska was 82%!!! The highest rated gov in the entire US!!! Running for President exposes a lot of inadequacies and weaknesses that being governor HIDES. Christie knows this very well – which is why he won’t run. Not now.

This was truly a hit piece so I understand why Plouffe did not participate. I don’t see how anyone could feel this was a good article. I have been tuning out most tv and articles because it all the same meme. It also goes against what I experience when I am phone banking or talking with people. This is a trying time for the President. The previous years tell me he will prevail. He is not lucky he is good at what he does. The Press and every predictions for 2008 was that the wars and foreign policy would turn the elections. Now they tell us it will be jobs for 2012 elections. There will be so many events in the next 14 months so we will just see about that. Everyone is focused on the President and I understand that but I can see the Repubs in total panic right now. They are still not defeating the President with the bad unemployment numbers.

I completely disagree on losing the debate. President Obama convinced the majority of this country that we need a “balanced approach”, “shared sacrifice” and higher taxes for the rich at a time when the right wing and their allies in the MSM are talking only of cuts, cuts, cuts. The deal also continued to erode the people’s trust in Republicans and they still prefer PBO/Democrats over the GOP to get us out of the financial mess. The deal hurt PBO’s numbers but he didn’t lose the debate.

      • September 29, 2011 at 7:41 am

I totally agree, Go Brooklyn. He was masterful during that debate, won all the points you stated and ended up getting everything he wanted in the debt ceiling agreement (despite Blowhard Boehner’s statement) and he defused a timebomb that could have blown the US and world economy sky high. At the same time he showed how reckless the R’s are. All the negative articles, comments, memes are designed to produce exactly the sense of defeat that some people are feeling. That’s why PBO said “shake it off and get to work.”

Oh man, I didn’t mean to post negativity….I didn’t read the article that way at all. I guess I just glossed over the random digs…lol. I have perfected that when it comes to reading MSM articles. Anyway, I just thought it was a realistic look at Plouffe and where the president and his team are, in terms of their current tactic to be more aggressive.

      September 28, 2011 at 10:33 pm

She made a really important point that I’ve noticed too…people love to focus on what has not been done, rather than what has been done. Recently, Ed Schultz was doing the after show following the president’s Joint Session speech where he unveiled the AJA. I’m not remembering exactly what the issue was, but he straight up asked one of the panelists, what DIDN’T you hear that you wanted to hear, or something similar. In essence, his question was asking the person “what was wrong with the speech” without that person ever saying something was, in fact, wrong with it. It required a negative response.

      • 38 theo67
        September 28, 2011 at 10:59 pm

This is an excellent point. Maybe we need to send Ed a tweet after every show to point out what we DIDN’T see on the show – even if it would have extended the show to 24 hours duration. They are so juvenile, it’s mind-boggling.

Morgan is a moron! I think he has an unhealthy crush on President Obama. The man is maddening. On another note as I was searching for BBC America because the 2nd season opener of Luther was debuting, unfortunately or maybe fortunately that hateful Fox business channel is right next to the BBC channel, I briefly stopped on the channel when I heard that maggot of a racist host quoted someone who said President Obama has already 90% of the the Electoral votes he needs to win. Then some guy from the Wall Street Journal came on and started talking, I changed the channel because LUTHER was about to start. 🙂

Well thats got to be what this is all about… they are fiercely attempting to seperate POTUS from his AA support.. and frankly beyond that they’re attempting to seperate all of us.. AA’s against whites, etc.. and AA’s against each other.. and folks like Ms. Waters are playing right into their game. This is why I despise the repub & their media allies. Notice how they went this route in a big way as soon as Pres Obama rolled out his Jobs Act.. they really are wanting to change the message- anything to sabotage his support & his success with this bill.

Chipsticks, I recall you have a previously posted the short clip of then-candidate Obama singing Dionne Warwick’s song “Walk on by ” and complementing her during a campaign appearance. Personally, I hope that the Murdoch scandal comes across the pond….maybe Piers won’t be so smug…since his hand has LONG been in that cookie jar.
It’s quite apparent to me what’s going on here, and should be to everyone and anyone that is paying the slightest bit of attention. The RW is trying it’s damnest to portray PBO in a negative light.. the AA community at large is being used as a pawn against this President..to reach the goal of placing doubt/fear about him before the election. Hasn’t done enough for them, higher unemployment than national average, not speaking to them…blaming him for things he had nothing to do with, in the hopes that enough doubt will be in place for them to question what the President has done for them…and cause them to vote against their own best interests…because lord knows, that if some had their way…..all but the wealthy AA’s would cease to exist in the minds of these radicals.Everyone, and I mean everyone…needs to be engaged, paying attention, and while everyone is at it…don’t have such a short attention span.We can’t afford to forget HOW and WHO got us into this mess!!

An Expression of Wisdom – Frederic Lionel

“If we are aware that a compassionate understanding of others creates trust, then something changes.

If we understand that ignorance is the source of all conflict, and if we strive to dissolve it, keeping silent when words are superfluous, then something changes.

If we understand that knowledge without wisdom leads to the death of the soul, then something changes.

If we realize that being angry or arguing with someone, regardless of who may be at fault, is an impulsive reaction through which we blame rather than understand, and if we understand even those whom we blame, then something changes.

If we practice the language of friendship, and if we try to contribute to the well being of everyone, then something changes.

If we try to promote a path of inner realization, without any desire to convince, then something changes.

If we set aside that which separates and emphasize that which unites, then something changes.

If we abandon the desire for results and do what must be done at each moment, then something changes.

If we are aware that virtue demands submission to the laws of life, and not to our own rules or ethics, then something changes.

If we accept that any search for security, although an understandable desire, opposes freedom of the soul, the Omega Point of Evolution, then something changes.

If we are aware of fear, experienced by the creature in all of us, veils the aspiration of our inner being, whose essence is divine, then everything changes.

And we witness the miracle that spirit can accomplish.”

Whether our President Obama has ever read these words, his actions are highly consistent with Frederic Lionel’s insights.

This is a great read by Playthell Benjaminn with whom I am only familiar as a broadcaster on listener-sponsored radio station WBAI in New York many years ago. Someone has sent me a link to an open letter Benjamin posted on his website to Cornel West, August 30, 2011. It may make you feel better as it did me about–good old INTELLIGENT Blacks are really thinking contra Piers’ lying take.

Playthell Benjamin has an interesting take on the President’s CBC address as well. He takes into account the huge applause which I feel supports Benjamin’s view and stands in stark contrast to the sarcastic pushback of Cong. Waters. I love the way he honors the “tropes and imagery” which that awful Professor Butler snidely criticizes. She denies the President his Blackness—American Blackness—Playthell recognizes that the President honors and embraces it.

This is Butler’s stuff which I reject. I don’t encourage reading it if you want a good night’s sleep. I only scanned those negative lines I cite.

However, when a disingenuous point like Butler’s is made, if there is a contexualized rebuttal available to juxtapose to it, I think it is a good idea to contrast them as it gives one ready ammunition for pressing on;-) and definitely lifts the spirits.

Further, I’d seen this woman’s quote about other groups not being spoken to in this way, and right after the quote an example of the “slippers and marching boots” quote was cited being delivered before a white audience. I think that’s a really powerful way to fight back against these lies. In fact, I may have seen this rebuttal here, and I thought it was impressive and used it in a discussion with my sister who quoted Butler’s words.

I will be careful not to post these negative comments at all without some powerful and exemplary pushback. We can’t let these memes gain traction, without being prepared to argue against them.

Sounds like Dr west is a provoctoeur, since he has done this before to Al gore. Well if Obama loses, he will be okay as he can always move to Austria. We are the ones who will be in hell while West enjoys his fine gains in Aruba.

Well, according to Gallup, 87% of blacks approve of Obama – more than any other demographic. http://www.gallup.com/poll/124922/presidential-approval-center.aspx

      September 29, 2011 at 4:01 am

That is down from 93%. So it has had some effect. Black support should always be above 90%.

BTW why does everyone believe a few Black politicians and public officials represent the entire AA demographic? Just like Dan Choi does not represent all Gays, or Rachel Maddow, Keith Olberman, and Bill Mahr do not represent all Progressives. Wether we realize it or not we feed into the MSM propoganda. 😡

Keith, in one breath you latch on to the same sentiment you rail against…anticipated failure…

Sometimes you do contradict yourself and add quite a bit to the angst and defeatist sentiments you accuse others of…

That number has been in the high 80’s before. This is NOT the first time. And furthermore, I have reason to question those polls – particularly when they seem to come after the MSM has been pushing a particular narrative. I saw something similar happen with the Jewish vote. It was supposedly down and then after the NY09 it was “freed” to go back up again…mind you, the President has been giving pro-Israeli speeches since he took office so I’m not buying that last week’s speech caused his numbers to go up.

        These polls are FISHEH!!!

…………..and on another note. I have seen posters post: well since Maxine, Cornell, Tavis and all the other haters are on this anti OBAMA rampage when he loses this election or when he flies away from the WH, or when the vote turns RED…….what is that? We have to have thicker skin. We will overcome this. All this was done in the 2008 run for the Whitehouse if you all can remember. KEEP HOPE ALIVE!! YES WE CAN, YES WE DID, YES WE WILL AGAIN!! Obama/Biden 2012!!

This is a short article so I can’t quote much, but it is about Murdoch’s News of the World bribing people working at other newspapers to give over their best scoops to NOTW:

“She is believed to have received £250 a week for passing her paper’s best scoops to the News of the World, which was then edited by Piers Morgan.”

I encourage to read it – seems Piers, “The Intelligent One”, was bribing people for stories.

Don’t hold much stock on that Christie approval rating. Women, especially , in the state disapprove mightily. If it is in anyway accurate, it may reflect on the hurricane. He botched up with the blizzard last winter so he had to do better. But while he played to the national media, local officials got nothing from him but confusion. He was busy going on TV and not letting people know the highways at the shore were open. He’s done nothing about employment except make it worse. He cut stuff from the last budget out of revenge. And don’t forget about his secret meeting with the Koch brothers. He never told anyone he had left the state. A few videos showing him calling teachers thugs and shouting down people who ask him questions he doesn’t like will show others his bullying behavior.

I agree Diane, and as I said earlier, approval rating as governor doesn’t mean much when it comes to the Presidency. We saw that with Palin whose approval ratings were in the 80’s when McCain selected her. The GOP and the media kept boasting that she had the highest approval rating of all governors in the entire US!!!

Yet as soon as she it the national scene, not only did her high approvals in AK plumment, but she dragged Johnny down and cost him the Presidency too!!

    • 116 vero804
      September 29, 2011 at 9:11 am

Plus, the national media has some bizarre love affair with him…he gets glowing media attention. So, if you’re in NJ and everyone is saying how brave and charismatic your governor is, perhaps you figure he must be doing something right, even if you don’t see it.

Hurray for rethug governors. Yep, now a new poll has Pennsylvania gov. Corbett with over 50% approval, majorly from other rethugs, but an increase in women. Yep, it’s only less than a year, and this is also behind the poll indicating the state is 52-40 against him changing electoral vote rules. So, I have to wonder what questions are asked on these Quinnepiac polls. We’ll see how long this lasts for the both of them come campaign time 2012. I have to only hope that people are not that stupid, but I ain’t holding my breath with the American people. They went for W twice, and only soured when their little fortunes started staggering. I still believe, in spite of President Obama’s immense talents, that if it were not for the economy, this country would have elected McCain. Clearly PBO was the best candidate, but too many people have way short memories, and only live for the moment. So sad.

😯 something is amiss. I hope the American public is not that naive and out of touch with what is going on. I can dream can’t I? Now if Ohio, Wisconsin, and Florida’s Governors have risen from the ashes out of the 30% then I know something really dasdardly is going on with polling. The governors of those 3 states were the most unpopular in the nation because of their Teathug tactics.

I believe the Teathug operatives want a better standing for GOP Governors around the country heading into the 2012 campaign season to bolster their chances at stealing the election. 😡

When someone of such dubious journalistic integrity gets a job at a major news network, it’s quite reasonable to conclude that the American media is far from impartial.

It’s been a while since I’ve commented though I’ve been keeping up with the posts as much as I can. I’ve had no Internet at my house for a month and still waiting for it to get fixed. Grrr.

None are apparently troubled by Perkins’ 1996 payment of $82,500 for the mailing list of Ku Klux Klan Grand Dragon David Duke. None are apparently troubled that Perkins lied to local election officials and filed fraudulent campaign finance documents to cover up his KKK payment. None are apparently troubled that Perkins’ pals at the White Citizens Council call black Americans “a retrograde species of humanity.”

    Good morning TODville!

Some good news to share this morning:

Number of people seeking unemployment benefits falls to lowest level in 5 months

WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of people seeking unemployment benefits fell sharply last week, an encouraging sign that layoffs are easing.

The Labor Department says that weekly applications dropped 37,000 to a seasonally adjusted 391,000, the lowest level since April 2. It’s the first time applications have fallen below 400,000 since Aug. 6.

Applications typically need to fall below 375,000 to signal substantial job growth. They haven’t been that low since February.

Second-quarter growth revised up to 1.3 percent
(Reuters) – The economy grew slightly more than previously reported in the second quarter, helped by consumer spending and export growth that was stronger than earlier estimated, according to a government report on Thursday that pointed to slow growth rather than a recession.

It makes me so mad when I think of how things could be if the American people hadn’t fallen for the okie doke and given the keys back to the Repubs. We were on a good trajectory, and now we are on a bumpy road toward full recovery. Think about how hard it would be for the Senate Repub minority to block AJA, if we had a Democratic House pass it first and all eyes land on the Senate.

      Ah well…

Hi Vero. My remedy for what ails you, make yourself a cup of tea, and mix in some cayenne pepper and lemon; hold your face over a bowl of hot water with Vicks vapor rub in it, or use a vaporizer; drink plenty of water. My son also suggested to from time to time, raise your arms over your head—seems to open up the diaphragm. Be well.

Well, I’ve been doing the tea, so I guess all I need is to add the cayenne pepper! Would you say like 1/2 a teaspoon? I will do the hot water thing too…my mother used to have us do that when we were kids.

              Thanks!

OH NOES. Hope it doesn’t last long. I have a friend who swore by this incredible soup from a Vietnamese restaurant around the corner from my apartment and she would order it in whenever she got sick. I tried it once and darned if she wasn’t right. I was on the mend the very next day. Weird.

Lotsa good healing vibes your way.

In more news related to “don’t let the black man touch anything…”

Obama pick for deputy Commerce job to withdraw

Terry Garcia, President Obama’s pick for the No. 2 spot at the Commerce Department, is withdrawing his nomination because it’s been delayed in the Senate, Reuters reports:

“He is withdrawing his nomination today,” [an administration official] said, referring to Terry Garcia, an executive vice president at the National Geographic Society who Obama nominated in May to become deputy Commerce secretary. …

“He’s been held up for no specific objection to him, his qualifications or background. We’ve seen this happen with a lot of our nominees, where there’s an objection raised that has nothing to do with their qualifications,” the official said.

The nomination of John Bryson, Obama’s pick to lead the department, has been held up by Republicans, too.

MY QUESTION TO PIERS MORGAN IS; WHY DO YOU FEEL IT NECESSERY TO ASK BLACK FOLK WHO APPEAR ON YOUR SHOW,HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT PRESIDENT OBAMA? WHY DO YOU NEED TO KNOW WHERE THEY STAND POLITICALLY…THAT SHOULD BE NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS….AND I THINK THE GUEST SHOULD START SAYING SO!!!!

THIS!!!!!!!!! I know he didn’t have his show when Bush was President but I wonder if he did the same to white people he spoke to when Bush was in office? Of course he did not!! I understand the fascination with PBO’s election and him being the first black President but geez lay off the topic for once PLEASE Piers! Base you questioning on what the guests are there to speak about and keep Obama’s name out your dirty little mouth!!!!! Now take a big long “Stuepsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!”

So I just want to thank Chips for posting the video of the President singing Dionne to Dionne. Oh my goodness, that was the most adorable thing I’ve seen since the rocking the baby video! Brutha can carry a tune too. He is so awesome! Anybody know when and were that event tookl place?
