Add Eva Longoria to the list of stars rallying behind President Obama. The “Desperate Housewives” actress appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday night and chatted about a fundraising dinner for Obama that she attended earlier this week.
“It’s a special privilege to meet our commander-in-chief,” Longoria said. “And, you know, I’m a big Obama supporter no matter what he’s been through. He’s been beaten up the past couple of years.”
Longoria said she knows Obama well from her advocacy work on Latino issues and called him “very receptive.”
“He keeps getting beat up lately because there’s such an extremist movement happening and it’s a very dangerous — for me it’s very dangerous — because it’s not the character of America,” she said. “It’s really under attack. And he’s been governing in, like, a state of emergency since the time he went into office. So we haven’t really seen him do what he can do.”
I stumbled upon this last night right before I went to bed, and quickly switched off the TV as soon as they moved on to another topic. She was great – and you could see she wanted to make her point, and I think she would have named names, if she didn’t think it would have an adverse effect. She was wonderful! I’ve always liked her.
Eva is My sista Si se puede She has been very good for the Latino Comunity and we DO NOT WHINE we will support
PBO all the way make no mistake I am very confident that all my brothers and sisters are behind PBO. so let’s move
on and dtop paying attention to the MSM and ther rest of the whiners whoever they are.
@redbird45 @Charmed86 @lovelyladypa give me a direct quote on how i am “bashing” the president? She had the nerve to ask me this on tweeter so i gave her her quotes. The telepromter jab, The unleashe me jab, the not fighting for the poor jab. of course i got crickets. she changed the subject. On twitter now talking to her.
Yes – I heard that a couple of GOP congress people even said they didn’t need to support the jobs bill because even Democrats like Maxine Waters were refusing to support it.
I finally had the stomach to watch the Rachel episode from a couple of nights ago where she defended the President on the “bedroom slippers” speech. I need to stop doing that. Personally, I didn’t see a strong defense, and the mediocre defense was completely eliminated by that Barbara Lee piping up about how the CBC provided a pathway for the President to do what he’s doing now with the jobs bill, and how they’ve been working all this time. It was ridiculous, and so transparent – and went completely unchallenged by Rachel. Next time – I’ll just take people’s word for it that something good happened on Rachel.
I”m waiting to see if the media, Rachel, the CBC, the outrage African Amerian Professors (imanperry) going to talk about the fact the said “slippers” in his speech on the 14th in Raleigh, NC. Remember all this BS is about “slippers”…I asked Mad Max and she didn’t answer.
I think she realize she ( Maxine Waters ) is not talking to a uniformed voter. I got crickets on every thing i asked her. took her all the way back to her votes in the 105th and 106th congress under clinton. once again crickets, abt welfare reform, and not bashing Clinton on national tv. This is fun.
THank you Tulip well done I thoght the same thing about Bill Clinton, and of course she was a strong supporter
of Hillary Clinton when she was runing everybody is piling on PBO why because he happens to be black? this
is a total bullshit this is the 21st century PBO is the right man for this time let’s move on.
Special request. Is it possible to build a space where we can archive videos of people who line up to cheer the President when he travel both at universities and on city/rural streets and roads? Can we also archive pictures and videos of the President with children? People smiling and overall enjoying meeting him? I’d like to be able to push back on the MSM meme that people aren’t happy around him. Also, I think that documenting this time in history could benefit from having access to this kind of archive. Thoughts?
I like that idea Tien Le!! It would be a great push back for many of the silly memes, “he doesn’t relate to regular people” “he is losing support” etc…
I also think photos and videos the President with senior citizens would be nice.
Really excellent Idea, Tien Le! It would also be great to put together some of the President’s speeches and town hall meetings, over the past two and half years, that shows that he has consistently said that creating jobs and fixing the economy was #1 on his agenda. I am sick and tired of hearing pundits and self-serving politicians repeatedly lie that the President has not been focusing on jobs. A video piecing together the President’s speeches could be shared with people who may not be as tuned in to sites like this one.
Just looking at him soothes me.
He’s so calm and composed. And a bonus is he knows what he’s talking about.
People bash him but you watch; he will go down in history as one of the great presidents. Wayyy better than Reagan (which will eat the Repubs up). Mark my words.
He really is a marvel. He knows and has a 100% grasp of the issues like the back of his hand. It was very informative listening to the Open for Question Roundtable.
It is now the hour of the jackals and Jessica Yellin of CNN aka TeaNN is being a tool as usual, but Jay “Clark Kent” Carney is not letting her peddle lies.
I so wish Jay would get back his Clark Kent glasses. Very tres sexy! 😉
I know, I am really missing the Clark Kent glasses. I guess he has been too busy to replace them.
I absolutely loathe the front front row. The “Ice Princess” Nora O’Donnell was in rare form today. But, but, but Admiral Mullen said… why, why, why, blah blah blah. She is so annoying.
And don’t get me started with the Cheshire Cat that is Ed Henry. He always has a smirk on his face. It’s as if the press briefing is a game to him.
I can’t believe the inept questions that flow from the mouth of Chuck Todd.
I love his calm, patient demeanor while he answers a variety of content with ease and substantive detail. He truly amazes me in so many ways. His stamina is just at a completely different level than most of us.
I am so glad that President Obama is letting it be know that he does not have a magic wand to implement immigration reform. It just shows the ignorance of the questioner and the lack of focus on the LEGISLATIVE branch by the media. Too many people are blaming President Obama for the lack of immigration reform. He is doing everything he can from the EXECUTIVE branch. Why aren’t they hammering the Republicans who used to be for immigration reform. That is where the bottleneck it. It’s not President Obama.
As President Obama said, it is a disservice not to focus on the branch of government that has the responsibility of passing legislation to make immigration reform a reality.
Yes, why not hammer Rep. Gutierrez or one of the other Latinos in Congress – it’s as bad as the CBC demanding that the President perform the miracles that they haven’t been able to accomplish over many decades. With the exception of Rep. John Lewis, of course.
No idea, I wouldn’t have even been aware of this if I hadn’t been following him on twitter.. have unfollowed. His whole article is just awful and untruthful… very much in the Maxine Waters mode.
Exactly, it just never happens. He just works and works and works. I’m starting to believe there is so much envy out there for this man that folks are just sick with it.. not to mention their own prejudices.
Maybe just send her that link to http://www.obamaachievements.org – let her (and her readers) read ’em and weep. It’s almost not worth responding to people who are just that dishonest.
What is with all these “experts” who I have never heard of demanding the President get to works? No President that I can remember has ever worked as hard as PBO. Just more goal post moving.
Hi Sherijr, I read that piece and responded. I am so disgusted with these so called Black intellectuals who are doing everything to undermine this President by promoting division within the AA community.
President Obama is making a very powerful statement about the importance of voting in the Latino community. Brilliant. So glad he got that in. If you want to eventually have a Latino president then the Latino community has to vote and make their voices heard.
Actually Dakota, I think we should read the comments. These clueless people live among us and they need to be set straight. I was astounded at the stupidity! REALLY PEOPLE??!!!!!
A friend of mine and I have plans (strategy) to attend.
This roundtable was just terrific. Our energizer bunny president just keeps going and going and going. While “Troubled Waters” and the feckless media are flapping their gums about nonsense, President Obama is working his fingers to the bone for the American people.
When this Round Table becomes available, please everyone make it go viral so that as many Latinos as possible get the opportunity to view and hear it. I have Latino friends and their college age children that I want to make sure they receive this video!
Mitt Romney: ‘I Don’t Have A Political Career’ (VIDEO)
Romney has tried again and again to take a big hit off the popular vote fatty — running for Senate from Massachusetts in 1994, governor in 2002 and finally president in 2008 — voters have only given him a win once.
But Wednesday, Romney upped the outsider ante, claiming spending the better part of two decades running for office doesn’t classify as having a “political career.”
“Why am I in it? It’s not the next step of my career, by the way,” he said when asked why he’s running for president. “I don’t have a political career.”
I just loved, loveeed this roundtable. It was so refreshing to see
intelligent journalists in action. They should definitely write a book
called Inerviewing Skills-101 for Dummies and distribute it to
the rest of the uninformed media.
Our President’s brilliance, intellect and compassion just shines thru
inthis civil environment. What a Man…What a mighty good Man. Goose bumpsfor me.
An email I received today from FLOTUS. (makes you feel like she emailed you personally) 😀
“Not everyone knows how to prepare for a dinner like this. As someone who’s eaten countless meals with my husband, I want to tell you the one thing to do if you’re selected to join him…
Just relax. Barack wants this dinner to be fun, and he really loves getting to know supporters like you.
I hope you’ll take him up on it before Friday’s deadline.
Will you donate $15 or more today and be entered to have dinner with Barack?
These dinners mean a lot to Barack. They’re a chance for him to talk with a few of the people who are driving the campaign — and a chance for him to say thank you.
So come prepared to tell your story, and say whatever’s on your mind.”
Don’t miss the opportunity to be there. Donate $15 today, before the September 30th deadline:
Oh my goodness I can’t believe the WH PressCorps jackals are bringing back the labor day comments made by Jimmy Hoffa and Ed Henry is demanding why PBO didn’t castigate Hoffa. How about he takes Breitbart to task for saying that conservatives should get their guns and arm themselves against liberals. Fox News TOOL!
I hope Jay and Gibbs, and any other Press Secretary under President Obama, get nominated for one of the Presidential awards. It must kill brain cells to have to deal with those jackals. The world is on fire over Europe, Syria, domestic issues – and those fools want to gossip?
Hahahahaha Jay Carney is wonderful and full of zingers!
Ed Henry the fox news TOOL, asked Jay about the Solyndra mess and said that the GOP leaders like McConnell, Orin Hatch etc. were right to castigate PBO and his administration on the “sloppy” approval of the loan. Jay reminded him that it was the GWB administration that approved the loan in the first place and those GOP leaders who are castigating PBO now, actually wrote a letter urging GWB to approve Solyndra and wrote a letter thanking him for his leadership; so they should stop being disingenuous. That shut Ed Henry up really quickly.
That question shows how little preparation the reporters really do. I’m not a journalist and I knew about the Bush approval and the McConnell signature (from the TODville research team, of course.;)
Does anyone here at TOD have fundraiser thermometers for the 2012 campaign? If so, I would like to donate a little something to your fundraiser in support of the President. If you don’t please consider setting one up and get started raising money for the President. I’d be happy to be the first person to donate. 🙂
Please post your link and I will give a small donation to the first 4 people who post.
Donna – do you know if non-citizens can fundraise? I tried to set up a thermometer on OFA a long while back, and seem to remember not getting past the questionnaire that governs who can donate.
You most certainly can. Some of our biggest fundrasiers over at OFA during the 2008 campaign were from outside of the US or non-citizens. You can raise all the money you want as long as you don’t donate yourself.
I tried to get involved with get out the vote from outside of the US (as per globalcitizenlinda), but the sign up kept asking for a zip code, After abandoning the form, I later got an email saying someone would contact me, but no one has done so to date. I suspect that’s because my phone number is not in the country, so they couldn’t really assign me to a region.
Hey Theo, if you are a citizen or a lawfully admitted permanent resident of the United States, then you can set up a grassroots fundraiser and you can also donate money directly to http://www.barackobama.com
wow meta. that’s very scary. I see a great big “V” on my state. Governor Dayton must have vetoed it but I thought it actually got stuck on our ballot to vote on. hmmm.
I was reading on FB last night where someone said that Rev. Al had a older gentleman call into his show and said that he was 85 years old and did not have a birth certificate so he was unable to get an ID from the DMV. This is so sad because we all know who these laws are meant to disenfranchise. This guy was born at home and there were no records of his birth. Now he has to show an ID to vote and is having a horrible time getting a state issued ID.
Exactly! “MadMax” should also be out there organizing and mobilizing to ensure that the DEMs regain control of Congress so that they can enact legislation to create jobs. The CBC members know better that the President can’t get things done without the support of Congress.
afternoon TOD. Liberal Phenom raised a great question on Twitter. LP said “Who leads the White House press corps these days? Time to target them for this nonsense.” Maybe this can be one of our Friday things. I don’t even know. Do they stay the same? They must. We keep having to hear Chuck Todd and Mark Knoller all the time. So anyway an idea. I’ll see if I can scare up a list of who those guys are.
I think Ed Henry was the head of the WHPC while he was still at CNN – or wherever he was. I think it’s an annual position, and I’m not sure if he had to relinquish when he went to Fox.
These people are shameless! They can’t even get their attack lies straight. On the one hand, President Obama has done all these evil things that have destroyed the country, on the other hand, the President has done nothing and “has been a bystander.” From the right, the President is a socialist, marxist, Nazi, Muslim, dictator; from the left he is corporatist, Bush clone who is more Republican than Richard Nixon. From the right, the President is a racist who favors blacks over whites, from the left (CBC) the President has neglected Blacks. Once you weed through all these attack memes you begin to realize that this is all about hating on Obama that has absolutely nothing to do with the job he is doing as President.
VIDEO: With Government Job Losses Slowing The Recovery, Romney Promises To Lay Off Even More
Romney promised that, as president, he would cut federal workers’ pay and slash the number of federal government jobs:
ROMNEY: Federal employees, we’ve got too many of them, and they’re paid too much. In many cases, they do a good job, we respect the work that they do, it’s important work that they do. We just have too many.
Romney Wants To Lay Off Public Employees
Romney’s argument that federal workers are paid more than private sector workers distorts the facts.
First, public employees are more educated, with 45 percent holding a college degree, compared to 29 percent of the private sector. Second, far more private employees work in jobs earning less than $25,000 per year, with many not making enough to clear the poverty line, which drags down the average.
Very cool, they have this listed as in both english & spanish at whitehouse.gov. awesome!

She’s so clueless….
Actually she’s way more hypocritical than clueless, she knows exactly what she’s doing,.
This is the woman who has those ethics charges against her. The arrogent nasty old witch. I’m talking about Maxine Waters.
Has anyone let Mad Max know that the GOP/teabaggers are using her as a talking point to not support the AJA?
Yes – I heard that a couple of GOP congress people even said they didn’t need to support the jobs bill because even Democrats like Maxine Waters were refusing to support it.

For some reason I can’t get the sound at WH.gov.
Listening to President Obama speak with that marvelous baritone is downright hypnotic.
lol I agree, his voice is so soothing…..it’s amazing.
Just looking at him soothes me.
He’s so calm and composed. And a bonus is he knows what he’s talking about.
People bash him but you watch; he will go down in history as one of the great presidents. Wayyy better than Reagan (which will eat the Repubs up). Mark my words.
He’s a marvel. Every questioned answered thoroughly and completely with such ease.
Just try to imagine how President George W. Bush or any one of the GOP presidential candidates would be handling an interview like this.
He really is a marvel. He knows and has a 100% grasp of the issues like the back of his hand. It was very informative listening to the Open for Question Roundtable.

Does anyone know what room they are in? That rug is beautiful….
I was wondering the same thing. it’s beautiful,…
I didn’t like this question, when they think the President doesn’t do his part, he’s not a dictator.

I love love love this roundtable, more smart questions with intelligent thoughtful sensible policy answers by POTUS.
On another note, this article/blog by Kai Wright of ‘colorlines’ “It’s President Obama who needs to stop complaining & get to work”… please folks read this & respond if you will: http://colorlines.com/archives/2011/09/its_president_obama_who_needs_to_stop_complaining_and_get_to_work.html
Who is this Kai Wright and where has she been for 3 years?
No idea, I wouldn’t have even been aware of this if I hadn’t been following him on twitter.. have unfollowed. His whole article is just awful and untruthful… very much in the Maxine Waters mode.
She has a black history series on NPR.
They just can’t handle the truth
Huh? When has Obama been complaining? Someone please tell me.
Exactly, it just never happens. He just works and works and works. I’m starting to believe there is so much envy out there for this man that folks are just sick with it.. not to mention their own prejudices.
As the kids say……She stupid !!
He flat out said he doesn’t have time to feel sorry for himself, to wallow in the mess. What more do they want? Just colossal stupidity!!
Maybe just send her that link to http://www.obamaachievements.org – let her (and her readers) read ’em and weep. It’s almost not worth responding to people who are just that dishonest.
theo, thank you – that is an excellent idea 🙂

Hi Sherijr, I read that piece and responded. I am so disgusted with these so called Black intellectuals who are doing everything to undermine this President by promoting division within the AA community.
Thank YOU nathkatun7.. I really appreciate that.. there will always be traitors, imo, history tells us so. Its hard to fanthom.
President Obama is making a very powerful statement about the importance of voting in the Latino community. Brilliant. So glad he got that in. If you want to eventually have a Latino president then the Latino community has to vote and make their voices heard.
I haven’t watched this yet, but it’s wonderful that he’s put that idea in their heads that they, too, could achieve the “impossible” – like he has.

OMG
Didn’t my boyfriend Carney already address that like two weeks ago? Why isn’t Henry concerned about jobs?
🙄
Hahahahaha Jay Carney is wonderful and full of zingers!
Ed Henry the fox news TOOL, asked Jay about the Solyndra mess and said that the GOP leaders like McConnell, Orin Hatch etc. were right to castigate PBO and his administration on the “sloppy” approval of the loan. Goooooooooooooooooooooooo Jay!
Ohhhh that sounds pricesless!
ZINGER!!
OMG I love this man. LOVE HIM!!!!
Can I just say I don’t at all miss Gibbs as WH Press Secretary?

Please share this broadly so people can see how pervasive the attack on voter ID laws has become:

wow meta. that’s very scary. I see a great big “V” on my state. Governor Dayton must have vetoed it but I thought it actually got stuck on our ballot to vote on. hmmm.
I’m tweetin it.
It was on his tv show….
THIS is something Mad max should be on TV complaining about but no. I guess Obama is a much easier and more attention-getting target.
I can’t stand that woman. Her and the other no-good Dems in the Black Caucus.
Exactly! “MadMax” should also be out there organizing and mobilizing to ensure that the DEMs regain control of Congress so that they can enact legislation to create jobs. The CBC members know better that the President can’t get things done without the support of Congress.
Ha ! I have to laugh at my State of Georgia…..
The DMV employees sell Drivers Licenses to illegals here…..anyone can get one. Just meet them in the parking lot after closing for the day.
afternoon TOD.
I think it’s an annual position, and I’m not sure if he had to relinquish when he went to Fox.
thanks theo67.
He relinquish his integrity if he ever had any in the first place.
Chris Christie says that President Obama has been a bystander???? Unbelievable….
Try to imagine Chris Christie keeping up with President Obama’s schedule for last two and a half years. I rest my case.
Christie could not even keep up when the President went to Jersey to visit after the hurricane.. He was huffing and puffing
Let Christie try to keep up with the President’s schedule the LAST TWO DAYS!
Romney’s argument that federal workers are paid more than private sector workers distorts the facts.
http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2010/10/federal_pay_myths.html
First, public employees are more educated, with 45 percent holding a college degree, compared to 29 percent of the private sector. Second, far more private employees work in jobs earning less than $25,000 per year, with many not making enough to clear the poverty line, which drags down the average.

This creature lives in a world tailor made just for him, by him, where only his voice is truth.
Oh I can so see a campaign ad made from this!
Thanks Mitt.
I love the 2nd picture of the President. I could hug him (sorry, I turn to “mush” when I see great pictures of President Obama – lol).
