Hey UTAustinLiberal – so I’m thanking you for the primer on tweeting. I was looking at your style of how you tweet and it’s so efficient that I tried it with as many OFA_’S as I could find. (for tweeting the vid chips made). Thanks again! 🙂

During this campaign swing PBO’s expected to bring in $8M dollars. This man is really unbelievable.

Yep, we’re in the game too and the President has not forgotten us. He tickled me today when he brought up the first mother-in-law and how she keeps him on his toes too. He was truly funny.

Can you believe the President had yet another fundraiser for the evening after that one?

I honestly can’t see how a President Christie or Romney would be able to keep up with a schedule remotely close to this one!!!

I just got home from work a few minutes ago…missed the House of Blues but did go back and see all the conversation about the “slippers”. I may not get this right but I think I know what he was talking about. Back in the 80’s and 90’s some AA never changed out of their slippers to start the day. It was even in my daughters dress code book at school. Students would come to school in their slippers…..never prepared to start the day running but…..slow out of the box. Please correct me if i am wrong here. Other than that my back is killing me…a few advil and it is time for bed.

      September 27, 2011 at 12:42 am

I remember that. And you’re absolutely right! It was even before the 80’s and 90’s. I remember back to the late 60’s – 70’s for some. Slippers and pink rollers in the hair going anywhere and EVERYWHERE! I kind of had that picture in my mind as well when I heard him talk about taking off your bedroom slippers…. AND I saw NOTHING WRONG with that reference. He was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

IMO, this whole thing with CBC and their supporters taking offense is just like the T-Repubs yelling class warfare at PBO after they have been perpetuating class warfare for 30 years. The attitude is: It’s okay if I beat the crap out of you as long as you don’t hit me back! Also, with the advent of social networks, they can no longer hide from public response and outrage when such a bright spotlight has been placed on them. We the people are in their faces, on their computers, on their Facebook pages, in their e-mail boxes, on their fax machines, closing down their phone banks and tweeting to them in real time. IT’S EVERYWHERE and they don’t like it shoved back in their faces. Squealing like little pigs that have been caught in a trap. No way out. PLUS, who knows how much money has filled their coffers to fan the flames of angst toward POTUS. Just saying.

    • September 27, 2011 at 7:15 am

But the thing is, its not exclusive to Black people. No matter your gender or race, when you are at home you are in your busted up clothes and your flip flops/bedroom slippers/house shoes or whatever. Its just what people do.

I’m praying for his strength and a safe trip. He’s taking a lot of heat from AA over the “bedroom slippers and “stop complaining line”. I wish folks wouldn’t take things out of context. I’ve been debating my peers all day in class and on facebook (I go to an HBCU). Smh ugh.

I know, I heard that after the fact, Sorry about that. I couldn’t make it out until I got it here and I said WHAT, OH LORD, lol. Turn down the volume and just watch.

            • September 27, 2011 at 3:03 am

Not to worry, Doris. I’m not exactly too young or too old to listen to the lyrics–so it’s all good. 😉 Actually, I like the beat, and I don’t usually like rap music. Besides, I’ve seen just about every version of that video clip that’s out there on youtube. There’s one longer version that I like that has the music with only a few of Jay Z’s words heard in the background. I must add that no matter the version, the Obama “Brush Your Shoulders Off” video is a classic. 🙂

Collegekay, that is very thoughtful of you. I also remember you stating that you would be off to college this fall. So proud of you. Keep you head up high and stand for what you believe in your heart. Then all will be well with your gentle and sweet spirit.

Do not worry about the heat. It will get even hotter as we make this journey through 2012, bet we will be focus and together. Heat can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on who is controlling it. So let them bring it on, you just control the knobs, and everything will cook just fine.

Now the complaining thing, do not worry. When the truth is spoken, a lot of people find it very difficult to own up to it. The President spoke the truth. Now if thie unkind spirits who started all of this fuss would have stood up and confess to the truth, then honor would have taken its rightful place. But no, they did not trust their own hearts to be true to their souls within. The President trusted his heart. He spoke the truth.

When Truth comes knocking on complainer’s door, then Mr. and Mrs. Trouble show up to start a fight. And remember, that is when you PRESS ON. PRESS ON. Press On. You just won the battle. Enjoy your college days, and stand up to anyone’s heat. Take care, study hard, and be ready to fight the world. I am 66 going on 67, and I am still fighting. So doo not allow granny(a young and fun thinking one) out race you.

      Be joyful, Collegekay.HZ

Personally, I think those who are fixated on the “bedroom slippers” nonsense are acting quite juvenile. They’re only thinking of how they’ll feel when they defeat the President, and not what happens five minutes after that when he gets in the chopper and flies away to his next role, still with his millions secured in his bank account. Thanks for fighting the good fight,College Kay, but I think these people are just distracting us with these non-issues. It doesn’t help a single family who needs help, and just serves to demoralize the people who are also under attack by the GOP with their anti-voting measures. The whole thing is so misguided that it makes me want to scream.

      • September 27, 2011 at 12:56 am

The President has been having a very successful tour regarding his Jobs Bill, these traitors are working for the disloyal opposition and creating a diversion or a distraction of his success in convincing Americans that the GOP is not concerned about creating jobs. Maxine Waters and company knows exactly what they are doing and the MSM is calling her for interviews to continue to distract us. The GOP got nothing now, they have run out of steam and are using these cretins to try and bring him down. “bedroom slippers” is a stupid meme and it tells how low they can go, they have nothing and Maxine has been a longtime Hillary supporter, there was a time over 50 years ago the MSM would not give her a voice much less a vote, now they are giving her a platform to disparage our Black President and concocting ways to take away her vote. Shame on her!

One thing for sure the majority of AA knows a traitor when they see one and these cretins will be scorned, blacks do not like this type of crabs in a barrell actions especiall whey they are aiding and abetting the racist whites. Imagine Tavis in cahoots with Nader to challenge our first black President? There is a name for people like him and Maxine, but this to shall pass until the next time.

I found a great comment on “The People’s View” about campaign donations for President Obama. The commentor spelled out quite nicely how important regular, small donations are, and how they can add up. This was the comment – link to the article below:

“They’re also focused more on donors than money totals right now. I’d guess the feeling is get folks in for even $5 now because you can keep going back to that well – especially when the campaign season heats up. If folks are engaged enough now to donate – they’ll be even more ready to donate when election season is upon us. Asking for $10 a month is easier than asking for $150 and the result is the same. Getting 2M small donors to donate an average of $25 a month over the next 12 months is $600M come the election. I know money is tight for a lot of folks, and folks should only give what they can – but $25 a month is 82 cents a day”.

I posted part of the following on a previous thread.
Does anyone other than me think that the T-Repubs have UNLEASHED Troubled Waters who fired up the CBC to offset PBO’s big push for the AJA? Until now they have had no recourse or comeback that caught traction against the mighty force that was POTUS taking the case for his jobs bill to the people. IMO, she allowed herself to be tapped by the T-GOP to become their latest talking point. Another “black-on-black crime” tactic I would say… AND… I’m sure she was more than willing to oblige because of her ethics mess and the fact that she’s historically been “a mess”.

I read an article about a year ago (can’t remember where) that the CBC was disappointed because when the Obamas went to the White House, their star power would turn the DC social scene into one long party. They were quite disappointed, because the Obamas usually socialize for purpose… meaning if it serves a purpose for the people they serve, not just to smooze. The CBC has now been exposed to be just what they have been for 40 years “A DO NOTHING, LADDER-CLIMBING SOCIAL GROUP” who have forgotten why they are in Washington and who sent them there. What say you?

    • 42 theo67
      September 27, 2011 at 2:40 am

I can believe this – the Obama family typically invites veterans to social events at the White House, or children who need to see that they are entitled to opportunities and good things, or for people associated with special, humanitarian causes. They don’t seem to waste time socializing just to schmooze. And I can imagine that those who are in Washington for personal gain wouldn’t understand those motives. They have become so cynical that they can’t understand sincere, genuine motives. That’s why Maxine and company can so callously disregard the damage they’re doing. Because they aren’t motivated to do good.

    • September 27, 2011 at 7:21 am

oh so they are mad that they didn’t become Pres. Obama’s gatekeepers? And also mad they didn’t become a part of his inner circle?

Chips and my wonderful TOD Family, I usually stop and just talk out aloud with my humble thanksgiving of prayer for the day. I always take POB’s schedule that Chipsticks provides for us and pray for each event. I remembered that Vice President Biden will be on the View tomorrow.

Joy came to my heart as I was talking out aloud about blessings coming to Joe and POB. I thought of them in the Oval Office looking at a phone or some new tech item and POB had such a big smile on his face, and Vice President Biden was smiling big as well. They were having fun together.

I thought , oh, I can’t wait to read their books when they leave office in 2017. Now that will be some good reading. Oh, this is getting so exciting. Just think what we have to look forward to, TOD Family. Books, his Presidential Library. Oh, my goodness!!!! We have to PRESS ON like Chipsticks reminded us today. Lets Do It. HZ

    #PressOn, in_deed.

Though it seems that Maxine, or Tavis, or Corny, or KO, or FoxNEWSTAINERS or some other bottom feeder has complained to the twitter folk and I’m now awaiting someone at twitter with a sense of decency and a basic understanding of the 1st Amendment to allow me to continue defending our President and our Democracy. FYI … my note to ‘Twitter Support’:

I am re-sending my earlier response because my spam/junk detector classified your email as such.

I haven’t received any notifications and I’ve certainly not done anything inappropriate. I have read every ‘best practices’ and rules you have and have done absolutely nothing in violation of any of them.

If supporting President Obama, calling on members of the CBC to stop unjustly criticizing him, calling out the newstainers for their incessant misrepresentations of all that our President is trying to do, urging a major ‘house cleaning’ in the Congress, being totally against the state-sponsored killing of any person (e.g., Troy Davis), absolutely never advocating violence against any person, supporting those seeking liberation in Libya and Syria are in any way a violation of your rules then let me know and I’ll move on.

Otherwise, please rectify the suspension, asap.

Thank you for your kind and timely resolution. All the best!

      Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!

      • September 27, 2011 at 2:45 am

Bobfr, are you really saying that your twitter account has been suspended? 😦 Maybe your words were too profound.

      • September 27, 2011 at 7:21 am

Hiya Bob, strange – I got a similar email from ‘Twitter Support’ yesterday for an account I don’t even use! Even though the address looked genuine I suspect it was a scam, there was some link at the end of it that I didn’t click, but it was something about winning a prize. Is your Twitter account still working?

Found this from last year: Have you received an email from Twitter support today? Well, think again. Because it could be that you have just received a message from a spammer trying to lure you into clicking on a link to their online drugstore. It may look like a message from support@twitter.com, but trust me that email about an “unreadable” message is really designed to bring you to an all-too-familiar Canadian Pharmacy website selling the likes of Viagra and Cialis.

Thank you Chipsticks. I did not receive any email from Twitter and have zero idea why they would suspend my account. I’ve sent them email requesting clarification. It seems very odd to say the least. I’ll keep you posted.

Thank you newcenturywoman for your kind words.

      • September 27, 2011 at 10:37 am

        Morning Bobfr,

This explains why I lost one of the people I follow when on Twitter. I noticed a drop in my numbers and didn’t take the time to figure out who/why as I was sleepy. Sure hope you are able to clear this up quickly.

Sorry, but my face (not me – this is serious) broke into a smile at your first sentence. I just LOVE how words can be used to send a ‘nuanced’ message. 😉 (One reason why swearing doesn’t appeal to me – there are so many other fun ways to tell someone to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.)

Chips, I clicked on a link here yesterday, or the day before, that took me to a seeming Canadian pharmacy site too. At a glance it had nothing to do with what the commenter implied, so I came back here and clicked again with the same results. As there was no connection between Canada and the topic under discussion I just walked away without actually reading what the site was about. I can’t remember which thread it was on.

Thanks to both you and Bobfr for the reminder about spammers. Periodic reminders help the less tech-savvy among us (me) who are so busy genuinely and innocently participating in the back and forth we forget that the mean-spirited are out there with their havoc-wreaking agenda. Oh for a world that’s happier and more collegial!

        • September 27, 2011 at 10:41 am

“Chips, I clicked on a link here yesterday, or the day before, that took me to a seeming Canadian pharmacy site too.”

Yikes VC, that’s bizarre – if you come upon that link again will you let me know? Thanks.

Hi again VC. I’ve never found ‘vulgar’ to be useful. Again, I have no idea why they would suspend the account as I doubt Tavis, Corny, KO, ‘troubled waters,’ et al would take the time to focus on my comments given the amount of ‘heat’ they get from folk who are much more ‘pointed’ (aka vulgar, swearing, etc) in their tweets. We’ll see. But, for now Our4thEstate is silenced, or is that, twiticided 😉
