fired up

Misc reports: President Barack Obama criticized Republican opponents on Sunday as he began a West Coast fundraising tour, accusing them of “ideological pushback” at a time of national crisis.

… “From the moment that I took office, what we’ve seen is a constant ideological pushback against any kind of sensible reforms that would make our economy work better and give people more opportunity,” Obama said at his first stop in Seattle.

… Speaking at the home of former Microsoft executive Jon Shirley, Obama said he had hoped “because we were in a crisis, the other side would respond by saying now is the time for all of us to pull together …. That was not the decision they made.”

… Obama was greeted enthusiastically as he began to speak in Shirley’s home before about 65 people paying $35,800 per couple. At his second stop, 1,750 supporters paid to listen to him at the Paramount Theater in downtown Seattle.

… He is cramming in seven fundraisers during the West Coast swing that descended later on Sunday on California’s Silicon Valley, the heart of America’s high-tech industry. He visits San Diego and Los Angeles on Monday.

….. Speaking to a group of 350 at the home of Symantec Corp Chairman John Thomson: “Some of you here may be folks who actually used to be Republicans but are puzzled by what’s happened to that party, are puzzled by what’s happening to that party. I mean, has anybody been watching the debates lately? You’ve got a governor whose state is on fire denying climate change,” he said per the pool report, referring obviously to Texas Gov. Rick Perry. “It’s true. You’ve got audiences cheering at the prospect of somebody dying because they don’t have health care and booing a service member in Iraq because they’re gay … that’s not reflective of who we are.”

“We’re going to have a stark choice in this election,” Obama continued. “But I have to make sure that our side is as passionate and as motivated and is working just as hard as the folks on the other side because this is a contest of value. This is a choice about who we are and what we stand for and whoever wins this next election is going to set the template for this country for a long time to come.”

…. Mr. Obama said it’s not enough for the supporters in the audience to support him. He said if their friends and neighbors are reading the Wall Street Journal editorial page or watching Fox News the donors at this event need to talk to “push back” on their “inadequate information.” “And in some cases I may need you to have some arguments with our progressive friends.”

He told the donors if they believe in a “fact-based” America, they need to work hard for him.

He later spoke under a tent at the home of Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, whose 70 guests included pop singer Lady Gaga, and told them that “2012 was an even more important election” than the one in 2008.

Fallacy, Fakery and Lies: Stimulus and Perry’s ‘Zero Jobs’

Why would you want to vote for a liar and what else has he lied about?

Perry’s message may resonate with the GOP/GOTP base but it will not work with the majority of voters, especially if the comment is so easily refutable. Can you imagine Perry standing across from Barack Obama and making the mistake of throwing out the ‘zero jobs from 825 million stimulus’ statement?

yes…that is what i focused on as well….

even though it may be hard to watch…we must watch and be ready to debunk ..but as someone mentioned ..we have to understand what is truly at stake here….the President has stated it many times…do you want to live in an America where everyone gets a fair shake or do you want to live in an America that only those at the top benefit…

from the very beginning the President has focused on the Middle Class…more than anything….those at the top do not like that….they use racism to divide us…whether it is the PL or the TP…the results seem to be the same…

Like the President says….it is never easy…it is hard…but we are going to Pressssssssssssss ON…because our cause is JUST…our cause is Right….

****i do not have time to feel sorry for myself…i do not have time to complain…..i have to Presssssssssss On****

He’s right. There are way to many progs mouthing off about how a Mittens Presidency wouldn’t being so bad, and too many so called independents saying that both parties are basically the same. I make sure that I set these people straight whenever I can. Noiw is not the time to be talking crazy bad chit, we get enough of that crap from the CBC.

Love Our President!! This man is not going to be playing, Love what he is saying and I hope we start seeing Dems in Congress saying the same things. This election is going to be about the future of our nation and who we want to be.

My appreciation to you desertflower, Bobfr, Fred, Tally, Jovie and others, some of you who are in poor health or in pain—you are such an asset to Chipsticks’ site! After perusing the comment sections in some other ostensibly pragmatic blogs, I can become so discouraged. Increasingly TOD is becoming a one-stop information center, not just for facts but to hear from people who are putting their marching boots on. Thank you all for your examples of commitment and courage.

I have commented only a few times but I also appreciate the work chipsticks and others do every day. Since the OFA blog is such a mess, I turn here for information and positive vibes. Thanks to all of you for your input. I have learned a great deal. By the way I have called my rep regularly although he is a repub. and have had a letter published in the Atlantic City paper asking people who care about jobs to support the president’s jobs bill and call the rep for district 2. I included his phone number and it was also published.

Great work, Diane. I thought getting a letter published in my local paper would take a miracle, but it didn’t. And someone approached me at work and said he had read it and felt good that he’d found someone else who was supporting the President and believed in the cause. There are plenty of people out there who feel the same – they’re just quiet, and drowned out by the loudest voices.

Good Morning Chipsticks and TOD Family, I hope all is fine with our family and friends. Thank you Chips for your dedication and love in this site. It is a comfort to work from to help our President. I stayed up last night and read and wrote letters.

I just put some informations posted by desertflower on twitter. Calling Congress and the Senate VA Committee about HR 5360, and HR 4810. The bill passed the House but has not been passed by the Senate.

Interesting to look at the bills that POB has signed during the 111 Congress concerning Veterans It will change your minds about what is being said about what he is he not doing for Vet, in all areas of their lives. Let us spread the facts. Those of my TOD family members who are more computer smart than HZ, please pass it on. Help a senior help our veterans. I sweetly thank you.HZ
