I would ask that we all email, call or write to Ann Curry and thank her for her interview with David Suskind. She needs to get support for this type of action so she will do it again.

I couldn’t find Ann’s contact info last night when I tried to email her except for her twitter info. I don’t twitter but posted if anyone wanted to twitter it would be a good idea to thank people for doing their job as well as be critical if they don’t. I also asked for the info you have shared and thanks for sharing it. I just emailed to NBC and hope lots do too.

I should have added in the post above that Ann did a great interview with suskind yesterday, she had all the facts, called him on all the lies, was pleasant and calm and just nailed this guy.

I don’t have the link to the interview but it is on the Today show and it is very good.

OT, but what the f**k is Rand Paul doing on Airforce One with My President. damn It.

Rand Paul to lobby Obama for emergency bridge fund during Air Force One flight

    • September 22, 2011 at 12:49 pm

Why is Rand Paul lobbying PBO for emergency bridge fund money? Doesn’t he and his teabagger cohorts believe that government should not be doing anything for folks? I am stunned. Another big case of hypocrisy.

    • September 22, 2011 at 12:54 pm

Rand Paul should be lobbying his buddies in the Republican party.

        September 22, 2011 at 1:31 pm

I agree, why don’t that Rand Paul go ask Boehner for some money? Mr. President why the hell is he riding on Air Force One with you? I don’t trust these bastards.

I notice that Rand Paul has been very quiet in the senate. Paul’s sons also wanted to meet the girls, based on what he said when he was first sworn in the senate earlier this year. Paul is two-faced.

      September 22, 2011 at 1:26 pm

Remember my TOD family, POB is a master leader and knows the political landscape better than most, if not all of those foolish men and women in WA,DC. Remember, POB is true to his values and to his core as our leader. He usually invite the Senator and Reps. of a state and district that he is visiting to accompany him on AF1. We know the most intelligent and most compassionate leader will lead in the conversations, if any with Rand Paul, even if my feelings for Rand Paul are not where they should be right now in my heart becuase of what he stands for and seeing him last week speaking on the Senate floor, which was shameful. But I believe that POB is the man is the better human being in this situation. We have a great leader. This is what great leaders do. Then we will allow a powerful God with Rand Paul’s heart for sure. It will be done.

        September 22, 2011 at 1:37 pm

And they try to say PBO is thin-skinned. I don’t know where he got his resolve, but he needs to bottle it and sell it.

I watched this live yesterday. Martin Bashir and Jonathan Alter eloquently tore Suskind and his crap book filled with lies to shreds. But the one point that stood out to me and made me very uneasy was that Bashir pointed out that everyone who Suskind lied about has released multiple statements denying that they ever uttered such words and that Suskind either misquoted them or that his book is pure drivel. The only one who hasn’t denied anything is former OMB Director Peter Orzag. When Bashir talked with Suskind last night, he kept pointing out that Orzag gave many many quotes in the book that pretty much painted the Obama Administration in a negative light. Now Orzag is working at the WSJ. If this is so and is a case of sour grapes, then Orzag has done President Obama and his former colleagues a grave disservice.

I’m glad Alter said that PBO talked to his staff and sent word that they should not all turn on each other based on a book that peddles fiction. They have more important things to concentrate on. Good on PBO. What a decent man and a great leader.

    • September 22, 2011 at 12:58 pm

Its funny that the left is now looking to Orzag for what happened in the White House. When he left and started writing about what Pres. Obama should do on the bush tax cuts, they were very unhappy with him and calling him a corporatist, etc. They were especially pissed that he went to work for Citibank raking in millions per year.

        September 22, 2011 at 1:50 pm

I know, right? This time last year, Orstzag was a dirty word in poutrager circles. Now they’ve had a change of heart?

        September 22, 2011 at 1:50 pm

I thought it was great when Martin Bashir was reading from The Audacity of Hope where President Obama talks about equal opportunity for women. Fast forward, the first bill he signs into law is the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. And if you go to whitehouse.gov and look under COUNCIL ON WOMEN AND GIRLS you will see these words ……………

With passion and courage, women have taught us that when we band together to advocate for our highest ideals, we can advance our common well-being and strengthen the fabric of our nation. – President Barack Obama

President Obama has been and is surrounded by remarkable women. From Stanley Ann Dunham, his grandmother “Toot”, FLOTUS, Sasha, Malia, his mother-in- law Marion Robinson, Valarie Jarrett, Melody Barnes, Jill Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and others in the cabinet, the list goes on.

But to sell his book, Ron Suskind wants to imply that President Barack Obama was allowing a hostile atmosphere in the White House for women. It just does not compute, just doesn’t make any sense. Very dishonest. The points that Jonathan Alter made were spot on. Most people aren’t going to read Suskind’s book, but they will hear the negative soundbites.

          September 22, 2011 at 2:10 pm

Yes, that was a very strong point of Martin’s interview. It really put Suskind on the defensive, forced him to grudgingly revise and modify his position, and severely undermined his credibility in writing the book.

          September 22, 2011 at 2:16 pm

I agree with your post and add one thing I have heard Suskind say over and over that this book is about the evolution of the President. Inorder to have an evolution you have to have things that were not up to parr at the beginning. I think Suskind had the theme of the book in mind when he started and worked to create a below parr beginning by leaving out parts of quotes such as the one left out “if it wasn’t for the President…” and retelling what the interviewees said with his theme in mind. Also I think the book about Lincoln that Doris Kearns Goodwin wrote that PBO read and cherished and based his choosing of his cabinet on believed Lincoln’s strength came from his cabinet of adversaries. Lincoln wanted to hear opposing opinions and then make decisions after hearing both sides. Obama adopted that philosophy which was quite different from the yes men of the current past administrations so when using the old measure of success against this model writers and journalists don’t think things are measuring up. What they do not understand is PBO was more ready and able than they could see. His undergrad degree of international relations, his work in nuclear proliferation riddence, and his work in getting things done in both the IL and US Senates along with his law degree and teaching and organizational work put him in a strong place to come into the presidency.

        Agree, Tally,

Would love to see Martin Bashir in prime time; he represents a more global view which, IMO, is sadly lacking. Also hope that the collective “we” express our appreciation by reinforcing both Bashir and Alters’ contributions to real journalism.

    • September 22, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Thank you, ut, for that report from Martin Bashir and Jonathan Alter! It really helps those of us who don’t even own a tv but love to see push back on Ron Suskind’s “making shit up” book and passing it off as non fiction.

  9. September 22, 2011 at 1:15 pm

Suskind is another of those folks attempting to make fame & fortune off Barack Obama- anyway he can get it. Also, I’m not terribly impressed with Anita Dunn at this point… do these folks actually ever think before they speak to media- any media?? She couldn’t have possibly expected that Suskind was seeking truth or facts- but drama & trauma. The last people in the world I’d ‘share’ with are media/journalists.

Watching DWS really pushing back at Andrea Mitchell’s claims that Obama has really lost support with Jewish voters. (because of Israel) Mitchell was strident on this topic, as she has been for a long, long time. DWS did not accept Mitchell’s premise, and said straight up, “No, that’s not true, Andrea.” And made her case brilliantly.

  14. 55 dotster3
    September 22, 2011 at 1:41 pm

Now Mitchell is talking about Obama’s problem with Jewish voters with Norm Coleman, for gods sake. She is really pushing this. Double ugh. Coleman is trying to say that Obama has thrown Jewish voters under the bus, and they’re flocking to Romney. I don’t know how much more of this I can take. It’s twilight zone all over the place.

I can’t understand why anyone would get hoodwinked by Romney. No one knows what he truly stands for. He is the constant flipflopper like John McCain. He is not trustworthy and consistent.

In Rachel Maddow’s recent interview with former President Jimmy Carter he mentioned he had lost the support of the Jewish people when he was running for reelection and that was one of the biggest factors leading to his loss. My guess is Andrea Mitchell wants to recreate that scenario.

Beall, now a board member of Aptera, happens to be a Republican donor in California. A political action committee he helped found and fund, the New Majority PAC, has contributed at least $15,000 to Issa over the years.
