Is it just me or is bill just everywhere, all in the way and continually talking about what he would do or what President Obama “should, ought to or can do”? Why can’t his ego understand it’s not about him any more., he had 2 terms. May be me…….

You’re so right, sankofa – he keeps popping up to offer his alternative, or pre-empt and/or contradict the President. When President Obama was still “President-elect”, he made a point of saying “we only have one President at a time”, even though he was taking over an economy that was heading over a cliff and the current President was signing baseballs and sobbing into the camera. Bill Clinton should have more respect for how difficult that job is, and should offer his advice to President Obama privately, with a “no comment” to the media. This just shows how big his ego is. And I am sure that Hillary is thanking her lucky stars that she’s not the one being second guessed by her own husband for every decision – because that would have been even uglier. Bill Clinton should know better.

That pretty much sums it up, theo67. I haven’t listened to many of Bill Clinton’s comments … but thought his were more of the “when I was President” type, rather than a direct comparison with PBO. I’m not surprised if he’s veered off track.

Dick Cheney and Bill Clinton sometimes seem to think that it takes a village to run the White House. Perhaps before they make public pronouncements about current White House policies, foreign or domestic, they would do well to reflect on the fact that two signature achievements which they would have liked to have had, and eluded them for two terms — namely, capturing and eliminating Osama bin Laden and passing comprehensive healthcare delivery reform — happened under the leadership of the current occupant of the White House, without their advice, without their team, without their blessing. They do deserve some credit. Their epic mistakes have been an excellent guide for this President.

Here’s a link to President Obama’s speech at the Clinton Global Initiative.

    http://www.wnyc.org/blogs/wnyc-news-blog/2011/sep/21/clinton-global-iniative-tackles-energy-jobs-and-womens-issues/ (scroll down)

It starts at 40 mns into the video. Very compelling speech, loved it especially the last sentence!!!!
