I watched an interview with Jimmy Carter a few days ago and he said that they wrote ALL THE LEGISLATION in the White House when he was President and sent it to Congress to consider.
i saw that interview and Jimmy Carter said that legislation was written by HIS direction by members of his staff with input from staffers in the House and Senate.

When doing Boehner speech last week he said something like we can’t have this my way or the highway attitude, then Boehner turn right around and said what he won’t stand for. So according to the nut from the other planet, the President or Dems can’t have the my way or the highway attitude, but he and the T-Republicans can.

Donna, he was in fighting mode, firing on all cylinders. He really gave it to the Republicans, calling out Boehner and everybody who signed the Norquist pledge. Phenomenal. Now he’s off to the UN to go into a lot of difficult /complex meetings with Karzai, Cameron, Sarkozy, Erdogan, the new NTC of Libya leadership Mustafa Abdel Jalil, new Prime Minister Noda of Japan and possibly Netanyahu – so he’s just warming up.

I agree with you Jacqueline. Tim Geithner is a smart, committed, capable, and, all and all, a very decent human being. The firebaggers hated him just because Arianna Huffington hated him. They then started lying about him claiming that he was beholden to his former corporate employers. The truth is Tim Geithner has never been employed by Corporate Wall Street. He has spent most of his professional life as a public servant.
Meta, I totally concur. Whenever I find Tim speaking, I am tuned in. Brilliant young man. Well of logic and deliverance is always done brilliantly.
I still remember his first encounter with the press after his confirmation where he totally bombed. The transformation since then has been remarkable. He handles the press, Jake “The Snarl” Tapper, hearings in congress, and interviews with aplomb. He is one of my favorite cabinet members.

Smartest thing to do is turn them off when you see they haven’t changed. Every once in a while I tune in to see if they’ve seen the light, and I last about as long as you did. When you’ve stayed away for a while, it seems you have less tolerance for their nonsense. It sends you over the edge quite quickly.
