This is so nice~ I’ll be watching. I’m an army vet and from 2007 onward had joined ‘groups’ at OFA of ‘Vets for Obama’ .. more and more I’ve received negative emails from that group- snotty, dishonest commentary about POTUS. Today was the final straw when one of the morons wrote how Manning should have received the Medal of Honor instead of Mr. Meyer. I finally had to ‘unjoin’. What has happened, I believe, at OFA is that repub trolls & other kooks have infiltrated these groups and push the most ridiculous bs.

I think organized trolling what we see for the most part. I wish more websites would consider reasonable moderating practices, instead of anything goes. Free speech comes with strings attached, it also requires personal responsibility. hard to manage is an uncontrolled enviornment.

Are you feeling better Ms. Sherijr? I hope so.

    • September 15, 2011 at 2:50 pm

sherijr thank you for your service to your country. The military and veterans are something very close to my heart my dad was in the RAF during WW2 and I was very close to someone who was lost in the 1991 Gulf War. It makes me so sad when I see veterans being disrespected. I used to be on OFA all the time but the troll s*** became too much so I rarely go there now. I did make the mistake of looking today and was disgusted with the diatribe against PBO again from a troll. I will stay at this wonderful sanctuary.

I know this is go politico, but president Obama to shield social security from cuts in his deficit reduction plan:

Sorry to Ed Shultz and Bernie sanders who now have no talking points! Lol!

    • 60 theo67
      September 15, 2011 at 3:30 pm

The fact is that he was never going to cut social security to begin with. He was proposing minor adjustments, like raising the contribution cap, that would have strengthened social security for another generation or two. Now, that’s one more thing he’s got to kick down the road to his second term. People (PL) just freaked out for sensationalism. Never any cuts.

      • 61 nintendowii10
        September 15, 2011 at 3:35 pm

Moreso than that, he was posturing to get the Orange Boner and Turtle Man McConnell to blink, and lo and behold, they did. He was also posturing to allow Democrats to go make the media rounds, promising that they would NEVER allow Medicare and Social Security cuts on their watch. That the professional left didn’t see this and went into an endless tirade about President Obama capitulating says it all: the professional left are fucking stupid and politically tone deaf.

Obama Plants His Flag On Boehner’s Bridge

President Obama is taking his message about the need to fix the country’s aging infrastructure and create jobs about as close as you can get to Speaker John Boehner’s (R-OH) district next Thursday. And he’ll have a pretty powerful visual behind him: Cincinnati’s CRUMBLING Brent Spence Bridge.

The bridge spans Cincinnati and northern Kentucky. Obama plans to use the backdrop of the bridge to drive home the point that Congress should pass the American jobs Act in order to secure much-needed investments in infrastructure projects across the country and put more Americans back to work, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters Thursday.

The President mentioned the city’s aging bridge in his joint address to Congress last Thursday.

“There’s a bridge that needs repair between Ohio and Kentucky that’s on one of the busiest trucking routes in North America,” Obama said in his speech.

Reporters seized on the news of Obama headed into Boehner territory, peppering Carney with questions about it.

“Is it a coincidence?” one reporter asked.

“It’s not a coincidence in that it’s an [aging] bridge and we have an infrastructure problem in this country,” he said.

Donna, I think I’ll move to Maryland (until I can leave the country). Our governor (Pennsylvania) is trying to rearrange the electoral votes to allow division for President Obama. He said during the campaign in 2010 that he would not build more prisons—-he not only is building 2 more, but has taken education funds and more than likely is using that money to lock up the children after their education is strained and they lose hope of being a viable student/employee. Today, In addition to my emails to Casey and Toomey, I wrote a scathing letter to Mr. Corbett (I refuse to give him the courtesy of the title, Governor) in regards to this new ploy and all of the dastardly policies that he and his Republican/Tea Party majority Assembly and Senate are inflicting upon this state and the country. I told him that he is not a leader; but, a follower in that he is serving as a puppet for ALEC, the Koch brothers and the conservative forces that are trying to take America back to the 1800s and take with it, Jim Crow laws.

Mr. Corbett and his Republican/Tea Party legislators are the mirror image of Wisconsin. They have been operating under the radar as attention has been on Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio and Michigan. This may change as a result of this latest fiasco!

I just got this reminder that I will be passing on to some people I know who have lost their minds. Please feel free to use it or not.

After The 8 Years Of The Bush/Cheney Disaster, Now You Get Mad?

You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate Energy policy and push us to invade Iraq.

You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got ousted.

You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn’t get mad when we spent over 800 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn’t get mad when Bush borrowed more money from foreign sources than the previous 42 Presidents combined.

You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn’t get mad when Bush embraced trade and outsourcing policies that shipped 6 million American jobs out of the country.

You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden.

You didn’t get mad when Bush rang up 10 trillion dollars in combined budget and current account deficits.

You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn’t get mad when we gave people who had more money than they could spend, the filthy rich, over a trillion dollars in tax breaks.

You didn’t get mad with the worst 8 years of job creations in several decades.

You didn’t get mad when over 200,000 US Citizens lost their lives because they had no health insurance.

You didn’t get mad when lack of oversight and regulations from the Bush Administration caused US Citizens to lose 12 trillion dollars in investments, retirement, and home values.

You finally got mad when a black man was elected President and decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick, the unemployed need help, the banks and the uber rich need to be reined in and made accountable and contribute to the society from which they benefit so much, women and gay people should be treated equally and oh yeah killed Osama Bin Laden . Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, job losses by the millions, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, and the worst economic disaster since 1929 are all okay with you, but helping fellow Americans …Oh, Hell No!!

Here in Indiana, we don’t have a liberal radio station. So when I’m in my car, I listen to either NPR or sometimes RW just to hear what the enemy is saying. Well, just a few minutes ago I had to run and errand and guess who was on Dennis Miller’s show? Good old Jake Tapper. He was bashing the President over Hoffa’s comments. He mentioned a book he said the tea party would love. So I guess he’s just admitting he’s a tea partier.

So I posted a tweet asking him if he is a member of the tea party. I said if you are you should not be covering the WH because you are not objective. Haven’t seen a response. You know he’s arrogant enough to try to come back with something snarky.

I just wanted to put it out there for everyone to know. Not one media person is objective. They are all bought and paid for by the RW.

Jake (The Snarl) Tapper was carrying water big time for the GOP today. He was oh so concerned that President Obama had not called Speaker Boehner to discuss the American Jobs Act since the joint session of congress. And then for good measure, Nora (Ice Princess) O’Donnell wondered exactly why President Obama was doing an event next week at bridge in Ohio – Speaker Boehner’s backyard. Awww, poor widdle Speaker Boehner.

        A politically smart road trip

President Obama will promote his jobs bill at a bridge important to House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) district next week, the White House announced Thursday.

The White House said that Obama would visit the Brent Spence Bridge in Ohio on Sept. 22 in order to highlight the “urgent need” for infrastructure improvements, one of the ideas included in his bill.

Although the bridge is located very near Boehner’s district, Obama has not spoken to the Speaker since he gave his speech introducing the bill to a joint session of Congress last week, and White House press secretary Jay Carney did not know Thursday whether Boehner had been notified.

Carney said the bridge was chosen because it is “relatively easy to get to from Washington.”

Oh my, Randi’s love, Alan Grayson is on; says PBO should have a plan to bring unemployment down to 5%. Yeah, Alan, you are so brilliant, your behind couldn’t stay in office. I love Randi but I do question some of her loves……Grayson, Kucinich….and she thinks Romney is smart and good looking. Okay, dear. Whatever. Aside from these freaks…….she’s pretty educational. Alan Grayson couldn’t even manage his own personal unemployment numbers (i.e. he lost), so now he thinks he’s qualified to tell President Obama – the most successful president ever in terms of legislation – how to get something done on unemployment? What bill did Grayson ever shepherd through to successful completion? Crickets. I thought so…

that asshat Adam Grayson is on Randi and he managed to criticize PBO’s jobs bill saying that he needed to go bigger and have a plan to get unemployment down to 5% and that’s what he should be selling. WTF?!!! That good for nothing frackface! Seriously? he was like, going big is something he [PBO] never does. That frackface! Asshat, he doesn’t do meaningless things that have no hope of getting passed by the hostile teapugs. 🙄 That asshat is apparently running again. Hopefully he loses. Can’t stand his stink ass.

LOL, Lisa. Can’t stand him either. If he was so great he wouldn’t have lost his seat. Now he’s going to try to run by bashing the President. Screw the so called “progressives.” I have declared war on them. Bunch of cowards who can’t get anything done. Can’t get elected. Riding on PBO.

You know, one has to question even Randi Rhodes for being so into him. What is it with these so-called “libruls” that even those who support PBO, feel the need to associate with the rabid ones? Maybe the pool is that small? I trust her to be deeper and smarter, but I can only shake my head. Even Rev Al had Bob Herbert on radio today……one who is so jealous of PBO he cannot fathom a kind word toward him. It’s getting to the point that at some point during each of their broadcasts, daily, I have to shut them down.

        • September 15, 2011 at 5:14 pm

I was listening to Randi today too. For someone so smart, I don’t understand why Randi is so big of Alan Grayson. She says he’s a big thinker. Well, that big thinker couldn’t figure out how to keep his seat. I guess we can’t always agree on everything, but this one is a no brainer.

Also, folks were worried about Jon Huntsman, look at where he is right now: 1%, behind even NEWT GINGRICH!

I wasn’t worried for a bit about Huntsman, Cain, or any of these Republicans the media tried to milk out as serious threats against President Obama, and I’ve been vindicated thus far. Heck, I wasn’t even concerned about Perry, and his “Social Security is a Ponzi scheme” extremist rhetoric is making the media rounds.

We have the Republican Party vying to nominate the most extreme right wing fringe candidate possible, and yet folks are worrying their asses off over whatever hair on fire meme the media has. If Barack Obama was able to defeat Hillary Clinton and John McCain, both BIG names in politics, then he can defeat any clown that the Republicans nominate. Heck, even if Jon Huntsman somehow got the nomination, he’d be forced to pick a right wing fringe running mate.

              PBO has got this.

James Carville… another Clintonite that needs to go away.

The last President who panicked and fired folks was Jimmy Carter and what was the end result? The media thought he was a crank, that he was losing it, and that was partially to blame for the election of Ronald Reagan.

President Obama does NOT need to panic, he needs to maintain a calm head and remain the adult in the room. Carville can stuff it.

    • September 15, 2011 at 6:33 pm

        September 15, 2011 at 6:41 pm

If you’re talking about Sanders running against the President, that’s not happening, because Sanders would have to change parties and become a Democrat. He’s most likely raising money for re-election like Desraye pointed out.

You need to relax a bit and quit with the hair on fire narratives, especially ones with no substance. Bernie Sanders goes over the top sometimes, but he’s no idiot. If he was to run a primary against President Obama, that would be the end of Bernie Sanders political career. Look at Anthony Wiener, who was an enemy of the President… his career is over, of course mainly because of showing his penis on Twitter, but even if he hadn’t done that stupid act, he’d be struggling to stay in Congress because he took so many public stances against the President. Also look at Alan Grayson and Russ Feingold who stood against the President, both LOST.

Don’t take Carville’s advice yourself, chill out.

        • September 15, 2011 at 6:55 pm

The pccc endorsed sanders for president, so has michael Moore!

Also, can’t you, nintendow, ever just answer a question without condescending

Again Jovie, who cares about the opinions of the PCCC and Michael Moore? Michael Moore exposed himself as a fat racist fuck when he said that he voted for the black guy and got the white guy voting for President Obama.

I’ve gotten frustrated with these kinds of unnecessary hair on fire memes that the PL espouse, especially opinions that don’t relate to enough of the electorate. Most of the electorate don’t care about the opinions of the PCCC, Michael Moore, or the rest of the professional left. We don’t need these hair on fire memes, and you need to quit acting like they have any substance, because they don’t.

            • September 15, 2011 at 7:10 pm

Again nintendow my point is that sanders is on tv everyday!
He comes from Vermont so he does not have to worry about re ekection for senate!
And who said anything about a primary from sanders?
I think he might do the general election, or is thinking about a third party!

Furthermore, their are several other democratic senators that are running for senate re ekection, why are they not in tv everyday!

If you don’t know just say so and stop your insults!

                September 15, 2011 at 7:17 pm

Oh geez… where did I ever insult you? I’ve insulted the hair on fire memes from the MSM/PL that you’re espousing as if they have any substance.

There have been plenty of Democrats making the rounds on TV, I’ve seen them on Reverend Al’s show. Heck Debbie Wasserman Shultz has been making the media rounds as well, Sanders isn’t the only politician going on TV.

Also, another problem with your meme is that it ignores Republicans. Republicans are also going on TV everyday as well, to bash and attack the President.

And honestly, being on TV every day doesn’t make you a stellar politician. Alan Grayson was on all of the PL shows, yet he is currently an ex Congressman running to get his seat back. Most Americans don’t have the luxury of turning on TV and watching their politicians go back and forth with the other side, as a matter of fact, a good amount of the American voters hate this partisan back and forth bickering.

I apologize if my responses were offensive, I just wanted to point out that you’re pushing memes with zero substance and that is being counterproductive, especially right now when we need to be pushing the AJA.

                    September 15, 2011 at 7:37 pm

Third party candidates didn’t defeat Barack Obama in 2008. Did Cynthia McKinney’s bid spell the death keel for Barack Obama in 2008, regarding his campaign?

The only places I’ve seen third party candidates being spoilers after that 2000 debacle is local and state level races. Like the races in which deadbeat dad Joe Walsh and loose lips governor LePage won by razor thin margins.

As for not trusting Sanders, that’s your choice, but as I posted below to lisa, he did have the President’s back and was defending AJA on Rev. Al’s show today. I believe Sanders has been getting the blowback for posturing against PBO’s politics, which would explain why he’s got PBO’s back on the AJA. Sanders might disagree with PBO on policy, but he is far removed from being a PL, don’t forget, that the PL threw him under the bus when he voted for the American Care Act.

                • 184 nintendowii10
                  September 15, 2011 at 7:32 pm

I have to disagree with Sanders being a disgusting sick and meaningless joke. For all of the stuff he has said against President Obama, for the most part it has been over personal differences over politics. And FWIW, Sanders did have POTUS back on AJA when he was on Rev. Al’s show earlier this evening. I believe that Sanders has been getting a lot of blowback from bashing the President, and sees that attacking the President will get him nowhere.

Also FWIW, I haven’t seen Sanders engage in the same type of character attacks that we’ve seen from Michael Moore and the professional left. As I’ve stated, it just seems to be personal differences over politics, which makes him far removed from being a PL.

Carville worked for President Clinton, and we’ve seen how jealous Bill has had over how much more success President Obama has had at getting things done than Clinton. PBO got healthcare passed, which Clinton failed on. PBO also got card check and financial reform, also where Clinton failed, as well as DADT repeal. It sounds to me that Carville is just channeling the bitterness from the Clintoncrats because they have been rendered irrelevant, and that’s because PBO defeated the Clinton machine in 2008.

Mayor Bloomberg is a reasonable guy. He gives the President credit for doing his best and caring for us, and he even said that he is our elected President.

Looks like Bloomberg is shaping up for a 2016 run. 2012 has been ruled out because he’s been positive of the President, and has even channeled a lot of the President’s ideals: working with each other, being respectful, etc.
