He’s lost the base, right? It’s true: well, he’s lost a masssive 14% of them, leaving a teeny 81% who approve of him. Doomed! (See here)
****
He’s lost the youth? Sadly, yes – listen to the stony silence that greeted him at North Carolina State University today:
****
He’s lost the African American community, right? Like this young man at North Carolina State University today?
They’ve turned against the President, now taking their leadership from inspirational figures like Cornel West and Tavis Smiley?
Well, yes, an enormous 5% of the African American community, according to the latest NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll, disapprove of the President, a tiny 92% approving of him (up 9% from July). Vindication for West and Smiley, then.
****
But what about Hispanics, his figures are tanking there, right?
Well yeah, look at their outright hostility towards the Obamas at tonight’s Congressional Hispanic Caucus Gala:
See? An ugly, baying mob, just looking for the President’s blood.
But, back to that poll – it has him at 57%-38% with Hispanics, up from 45%-48% in July. Crikey, that’s rather friendly baying.
Honestly, it’s just so hard to imagine why Hispanics/Latinos aren’t more attracted to the GOP:

He’s looking at you. Have you contacted members of Congress yet about the jobs bill?
The ever magnificent What is Working has all the contact details you’ll need
Do your bit.
Pass. The. Bill. 😉

But Americans hate the Jobs Act!
Oh really?

Enough of this positivity: the New York result was a disaster, right?
Well, it certainly wasn’t pretty, the fool that is Weprin (D) was trounced in Brooklyn (but actually won in Queens) but the notion that the district had ever been an Obama-loving hot-spot is kind of comical – as Nate Silver put it, “I doubt that there was any district in the country (in 2008), perhaps outside a few remnants of the “Solid South,” where so many enrolled Democrats voted against Mr. Obama”.
And as Steve Kornacki pointed out, “Obama performed one point worse there than John Kerry had in 2004 and 12 points worse than Al Gore had in 2000”.
So, New York’s Ninth Congressional District was never big on the President. I’ll leave you to speculate why.
Nate Silver: “Roughly 40 percent of voters in the Ninth District are Jewish, 20 times the rate in the country as a whole. Moreover, and perhaps more important, many of those voters are Orthodox Jews, who often have starkly different political viewpoints than Reform or secular Jews, and who are extremely rare in the United States outside a few spots in the New York region.”
So, no, Jews haven’t turned against the President, it’s just that Orthodox Jews oppose him – as they always have done.
And don’t forget, Anthony Weiner won the seat in the first place thanks to some real classy race-baiting – see here

But Europe hates him, right?
Ahem.
President Barack Obama remains highly popular in Europe, with 75 percent in 12 EU nations approving his handling of global affairs, a poll said Wednesday.
He is also much better liked than his predecessor George W. Bush, whose rating in Europe was just 20 percent in 2008, said the Transatlantic Trends poll by the German Marshall Fund.
Obama’s success in eliminating Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden appeared to be a factor in his popularity in the EU, with 73 percent backing his efforts to fight international terrorism.
(There’s a PDF at the link with all the poll findings)

Yep, he’s still looking at you.
If you love him and everything he has achieved and everything he stands for, fight for him – contact Congress now, and donate if you can.
Man Chips, you’re simply too much!
What a way to end the night, with a helluva recap!
Shut the front door!!! All this good stuff in one thread-BAM, Double BAM!!! Go Ms. Chips. 😀
All the way Chips you have done yourself your are fantastic so thank you very much muchas gracias
from all our latino friends this is the site to be.
You are a good person chip! Glad we are on the same team!
Thanks for this…
Brilliant, Chips. Just brilliant. Thank you soooooooooooo much for all that you do. TOD is the most awesome place ever. And there are just no words for how our President is serving this country. That’s why the hate has been pushed up on both sides. No political leader has what Pres Obama has. His intellect. His compassion and heart. His charisma and values are just unmatched. The rethugs know they got nothing. So they lie, use the media to lie, cheat, try to steal votes. Mock. The PL got nothing but whining because they have no courage. They couldn’t do what our President does. Weak? Please. The Mahers and the Moores know they are grade-A cowards who sit back and collect their big pay checks by criticizing others while doing nothing themselves. None of them could withstand the scrutiny of an election or holding an office.
I have them.
But President Obama is winning and will win re-election in 2012 hands down.
Have a great night all.
Oops that should be “I hate them.”
Don’t laugh PofO, but I was gliding down the picture thread and for a moment when I got to the last one my brain said ‘Gosh, the President sure looks like Proud of Obama’ before it righted itself with the thought ‘You’re such a dolt, VC!’
HAHA! Now that’s funny, and I woulda done exactly the same thing as you vcprezofan2!!
Funny! I love that pic of him. Soooo coooool.
Oooo, some mishmash action! Yummy. Thanks, Chips.
Wednesday night wrap up indeed! Chips you are A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!! HERCULES! HERCULES! HERCULES! HERCULES! HERCULES! HERCULES! HERCULES! 😀
Well, Chips, now you’ve lost part of me. Rather than constantly going back and forth, refreshing, to see if you’ve sprung another thread on us during the time I’m on this blog, I plan to just stay on this thread until 2012! Honestly, everything one could ever hope to see about President Obama to bring a smile to her face is right here. Your passion and creativity and optimism … remarkable. I deeply appreciate you.
Plus, earlier I was wishing I could see the NC speech and video of Joe Biden’s meeting, since I didn’t have time to catch them earlier, but was too lazy to go find those links. And here they are, again.
Peel me another grape, honey pot!
I’ll keep you company here until 2012, and maybe people can just drop in and give us tidbits of info every once in a while… 😀
Chipsticks, you’re awesome. I thank heaven every day that I found your blog, and have a place of sanity to come to when the crazies and naysayers are out in full force. Thank you!
And grapes – don’t forget the grapes!
I’ll bring the grapes, and I really don’t mind peeling them. 😉
Thank God. 🙂
😆 You crack me up VC!
Vaya con Dios. 🙂
How about a little wine and some cheese too?
Now you’re talking!
Ms. Chips, you saved the best for last. PASS THIS BILL, OKAY?
I love it! 😀
Beautiful work, ma’am. Simply beautiful.
You are on a RoooOOOOoooL! Lol. I don’t know how you do it but I’m glad you do.
LoveLove!
Obama/Biden2012&I’mIn
The Mother of all Wrap Ups. Wonderful mish-mash! I think you have a little knack for this blogging thingie, Ms. Chips. 😉
(I’m mesmerized by Michelle’s gorgeous back in that last photo — she keeps getting more and more beautiful.)
I recognize the young Asian man at the laptop from the HBO movie on the ’08 campaign — he was awesome in that documentary; glad to see he’s still around.
I remember how moved he was the evening of the election…he had me in tears as well. That was my favorite documentary, of the many I have seen. Can not get enough of our wonderful Obama’s 😀
Chipsticks, repeating all the words of wisdom already expressed….you are such a gift to this world, bless you, always and forever.
i wonder what would be Congress’s reaction if the people came together and marched on DC? What would it be motivated to do if there were a million plus folks standing on and around the Washington Monument holding signs that say ” Pass the AJA”. Standing quietly not saying a word until given a signal to shoot “PASS THE BILL”. i’d love to see something like that.
Me too! We have to get our voices out there is the public meme. We have got to get off these computers some and get on the ground. I can’t say it would change how reporting is done but it would voice another opinion. Right now all we have is the two right wings (the Left and far right)! I have been waiting for the National Black Journalist Assoc, NAACP, Urban League, and so many other to wake up and push back. I guess I can give up on that dream. This Presidency was a perfect time to become a stronger political force but nothing from these losers. They should be pushing to host debates. They should be holding the mainstream media accountable for fair reporting. So many of the terrible conservative policies will hit the AA community first and very hard. This is a very importance election for us all but especially AA. We can not sleep on this one.
The only organization currently pushing a march for jobs is Rev Al’s National Action Network. Check them out.
http://www.nationalactionnetwork.net/
Wouldn’t you have to get a permit before so many could gather in one place?
I’m sure that wouldn’t be a problem since Glenn Beck got one.
Me too:) Alas, I can’t afford to get there right now:( That would be so dramatic and meaningful. Starts with one, yardarm! And another, and another….:)
This is what I want as well…..how do we do this? Yardarm756 ….can you imagine how far and wide the volume of that untied voice would carry. That gave me chills. I’m giving you the bullhorn 😀
Just checked The National Action Network has a rally scheduled for October 15th/dedication of the MLK Memorial is the 16th
I have join the chorus….Thanks Chips for all that you do! TOD is the first and mainly the only site I go to these days.

Bon nuit , toute les monde! Merci, Ms. Chipsticks, you are making a huge difference, and I surely hope you know it! Get some rest now, our prayers and love for the First Family are of great value to their work! Obama~Biden 2012!
On thursaday at 1 pm, I want you all to see how John boner will get msm coverage for his jobs speech!
Even though he has a 28% spproval rating!
Biased propaganda!
Jobs speech? What JOBS?? What could he possibly be offering the American Public but more OBSTRUCTION? 😡
De regulation, moratorium on al EPA regulations and drill baby drill!
Not kidding! And the msm will lap it up like a kitty!
And Boehner will call it the “American Jobs Act”; it will be leather bound (not stapled, as the middle class would do), and it’ll be paid for by corporate America – oh, and his announcement will be made on a golf course, with gift bags for the press containing samples of whatever the hell kind of tanning solution he uses.
Next.
Lol!
No frickin binder clips! Of course a 2 page bill wouldn’t require one, those Republicans are such policy wonks 😉
I KNOW! I visited the site of my jackwagon rep today, and he wrote that the House has passed 11 JOBS BILLS but the Senate won’t act on them!!!! So I checked his “jobs bills” out on OpenCongress…what a frickin’ jackass he is! HR 872: Reducing Regulations/Burdens Act….this prohibits the EPA from requiring a permit under the CWA for dumping pesticide, and other poisons.
Real great job producer that one is!
HR 910: WOuld amend the Clean Air Act to prohibit EPA from promulgating any regulation of greenhouse gases to address climate change and “other purposes” Great! If you’re a climate change denier!
HR 37…couldn’t find that one.
HR 72: Authorizes Labor Secretary to make grants to states/local govts/tribes for employee training programs…good idea, but not near enough.
HR 1230…DRILL, BABY DRILL!
HR1229: MORE DRILL BABY DRILL!!!
HR 1231: Reverses PBO Offshore Oil Drilling Morotorium….MORE! Drill Baby Drill!!!!!!!!!!
That’s it! That’s all they got. shilling for the corporations like they always do! I wanted to get that info all in order for when I call little shit Baby Quayle tomorrow…whoever answers the phones in his office usually likes to “engage” in a little koolaid spitting with me.I’m prepared:) Going to get emails, phone calls and maybe even a LTE! Then I’ll call the Bobsie Twins (McCain/Kyl) and tell them to pass this bill…and for good measure, I’ll ask both of them why on earth they voted NOT to take care of people with disaster aid!
Just wanted to say thank you, Chips for all your incredible hard work…it means so much to so many, me included:) Just about B E D for me…I woke at 2:30AM yesterday,up for an hour…back up at 4:30AM…FOR THE DAY…I’m pretty wiped. Night all….
Maybe we should tweet the GOP and ask them to have the CBO score their so-called “jobs bills”. Tell us how many jobs their job-killing bills are going to destroy.
Spot on Theo67…..
Will Boehner speech be before a joint session of Congress? I’ll make sure to miss it. Maybe Msnbc and Fox Jr. will carry it.
DANN CHIPS….YOU ARE OFF THE HOOK!! This wealth of information is just staggering!! 😯 You just keep feeding us material. It’s like we are DRUG ADDICTS and you are the SUPPLIER!!! I love it. Please don’t stop!! 😀
I love him and everything he has achieved I will DONATE NOW. Good Night!
Thank you Ms. Chips!
I missed all of this and will go through it all; your a true gem. 🙂
Colbert is hilarious. He mocked Fox News and all Rupert Murdoch affiliates for their dumb fascination with the paper clip on the AJA bill President Obama was holding at the whitehouse event. In that witty, satirical way of his, he just decimated them and pointed out their foolishness. Now he’s mocking Fox News for advocating closure of the Post Office. He has on a professor who worked at the Post Office for over 20 years and is touting all the benefits the Post Office provides to every American and how the Post Office is setting up a 50 state rally including Washington, D.C. to fight for continued funding. One thing I like about Colbert is that he not only talks the talk, he walks the walk. He said the only way he wanted the Post Office saved was if they made a stamp with his image because he’s more important than the Liberty Bell 😆 😆 😆 Well, now he has his image on a stamp and he’s urging all his viewers to go to his website and buy lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of stamps. He wants them to just keep on buying. Even though he pretends to be a “conservative” on his show who “hates” anything connected to government; he’s doing his own part to help save the Post Office. Stewart could take a million lessons from Colbert and his team on how to be truly funny, relevant, politically and socially conscious.
Colbert is da bomb!
Colbert cares.
I haven’t read all the other comments here but I am sure they were great! I listened to the replay on my laptop of the speech in NC today and I am just awed. Seriously. I have listened to many, many of his speeches, but today’s may have to go down in history as one of the most inspiring, passionate and yet practical speeches I have ever heard! And that is saying something considering that he is one of the best speech makers ever! I went immediately to WhiteHouse.gov and posted a comment to that effect. I am excited about the jobs creation bill on a personal level (oh, I have a job … my husband and I are self employed; he is a professional counselor and I am his office manager, so as small business owners, certain aspects of the bill will apply to us but …) because I am so interested in what can be done to improve and enhance the infrastructure in this country and the jobs that might create! Roads, railroads (high speed trains where possible … improved tracks, routes), runways, bridges, internet access in rural areas, on and on … next to support for and encouragement of the arts, this interests me the most. Getting this country back to where it should be, going forward to what it can be is so imporant and can energize, revitalize, rebuild America! Today’s speech is a promise of that. I hope that promise can be made to happen.
It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it, Peggy? All of it.
Peggy..
you have capsulized it all in a paragraph….The Promise of America….for all of its ciitizens…not just for a few….This is the America that i have always dreamed about….and never thought possible…
this is why the other side…tries so hard to keep the truth away…this is why racism ever raises its head…to keep all peoples from joining together in their own self interest…
i pray that we are successful….
what i did today…
i emailed all of my congress people including casey who says that the bill is too big….
i have started to email member of the CBC,,, strongly uging them to support the American Jobs Act…and to speak out as forcely for the Bill and the President….this is the bill that they claimed the President should do….
i have made copies of the fact sheet of the American Jobs Act….to distribute on my block…starting this weekend…sending emails to my address book copies as well….
The Struggle Continues….
YES WE WILL
Thanks for the mishmash of what happened today, Chips. Good night!
Yes Chips, this is the place I come to every night to catch up on All Things Obama. I don’t watch the news anymore so this is my place for information. I know we all say thank you for all you do, but really you give us a place to gather, it feels like a warm apple pie. If you ever need any help..please let us know. We are in this together. Night all….
Chipsticks, you are on fire tonight!!
This is my place also. Thanks everyone; you are all very much appreciated.
WOW…… WOW….. WOW….. CHIPS!!!! You are A – W – E – S – O – M – E ! ! ! ! !
You are our own energizer bunny. WONDERFUL! THANK YOU!!!
I have proudly tweeted this thread and will post it on my Facebook page tomorrow. My family can take in so much info at one time and I have now thoroughly saturated them with “PASS THE BILL” posts. lol…. Thank you once more! 🙂
What else is there to say except that you are a true treasure, Chipsticks.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
