Wow! Lots of threads. I am behind as of yesterday. My oldest daughter is visiting from Germany. She lives there now. Boo hoo, but I have someone in Europe to visit now. 🙂

Didn’t seem to let too many into the airport “ropeline”…

Hatchet job on Obama on Chgo Trib front page, written by James Oliphant of their Wash. Bureau. I have noticed that he has a fondness for Obama hatchet jobs. It’s so misleading, running with the NY 9 election spells doom and gloom for Obama and the jobs act theme:

Okay Chips, and TODville, Good Afternoon! I hesitantly signed up on Twitter a few days ago and followed a handful of TOD-ers around for a bit. Imagine my surprise that my laptop has not exploded yet, and no strangers have followed me home!!!! 😆 😆 so WHAT”S NEXT? I’ll be clear – this
techno-challenged TOD-er has no reason for signing on except to be of help when the family here needs an extra body. Realistically I don’t have anything to say that would cause people to ‘follow’ me, but I could help pass PBO’s message along, I guess. What do I do now? I need help in practising how to send a message, etc. etc.

Oh! I’m @sonamie. Chips can add me to the family twitter album. 😉

vcpresofan2…you are my hero…..I signed up and abandoned it immediately. I’ll watch for responses from our group to your call for help.
And than as Linda suggested find the courage to start using it.

Way to go……..your evil (cause I have a potty mouth, whereas you are gracious and ladylike) twin is proud of you!

      • September 14, 2011 at 2:25 pm

‘Good’ twin, ‘bad’ twin are we? Get outta here, I’m not at all ladylike, and I don’t happen to appreciate you labeling my twin negatively. 😉 Truth is, when I was a teenager I stumbled onto James 3: 10-11, and it made such perfect sense to me that I have not been able to forget it. Like you, after my twitter sign up I wandered away for a while, but I’ve gone back a time or two to peek and fiddle. I figure if I can get gradually comfortable now, by the time the campaign really starts heating up I’ll be ready. Maybe we can read the suggestions here then hold hands as we step into this new venue?

        @sonamie

The truth is I like to spout off too, but only after loooong observation. 😆

vcprezofan2, I put in a request to follow you. I’m @lmrjustice. Don’t worry, I’m still learning Twitter as well. A few of us are still newbies. I make a lot of mistakes, and could care less because it’s part of learning. My fav thing is to attack the pseudojournalists. like @markknoller jerk because he tweets such crap. The more you use it the better you’ll get at it. 🙂

    • September 14, 2011 at 12:47 pm

      Make sure you’re following @barackobama

You could also follow @chucktodd @jaketapper @andersoncooper @markknoller and the like so when they tweet garbage you can reply to them. You can just tweet to them by putting @chucktodd (for example) as part of any tweet. If they search their mentions than it will be there frr them to read.

Also there is sometimes a hashtag that folks use for example #JobsNow and if you include that hashtag in your tweet than anybody following that hashtag will be able to see what you’ve tweeted when you used it.

It will take a bit to get used to. You’ll be up to speed in no time though.

        thanks StR

I don’t know why this makes me nervous….don’t usually miss an opportunity to spout off!

      • September 14, 2011 at 2:11 pm

‘You’ll be up to speed in no time though.’

You think? I was just about to say ‘Could I have that in writing?’, then realized that it WAS already in writing. 😉

Thanks for answering, StR. I’ll add the President and a couple of the other idjiits you suggested, but I confess that I haven’t yet figured out how to send my first message. Do I just go to the message section and type it in, and do I have to be sending it to a specific person to get me going? Right now I naturally have no one following me so who would I send a first message to?

        • September 14, 2011 at 2:35 pm

You could do either. If you just type it without “@ mentioning” anybody than it would only go to those following you. If you mention somebody ( means when you for example type @chucktodd) than anybody searching @chucktodd would see it.

If you start following folks on the twitter list that Chips has put together, if your twitter is recognizable they’ll likely follow you back. And then you’re off and running.

          • September 14, 2011 at 4:38 pm

THANKS, StR! I have to go make dinner, but I sent my first message to the 2 people* following me and when I come back I’ll see if I got an answer and learn how to access it.

            * Thanks lmrj and tien, I appreciate the helping hand.

Hopefully Chips will add me to the list later, and I can broaden my horizons as people follow me and I follow them, or whatever. 😉

You’ll be surprised how quickly you get into tweeting and pushing back on nonsense, or spreading the good messages. Just be careful who follows you. I’ve also given up trying to educate right wingers. They’re not interested in being informed or corrected – so as soon as they follow me, I block them. Good for my keeping my blood pressure steady.

Gov. Bev Perdue totally rocks! 🙂

Wow. A relative of mine who has fun irking me with RW talking points ADMITTED this morning that OUR STANDING IN THE WORLD has greatly IMPROVED after Bush and with PBO in the White House, and that our new standing is a good thing.

I told him to “stop there,” since I wanted to revel in his admission. (He voted for PBO, but is way too libertarian on financial matters, otherwise, for my blood.)

    Yee-haw!

P.S. Of course, I irk him back as much as I can with PBO talking points. Our back-and-forth started in October ’08, when I framed an image to show him of two ravens around Halloween – one raven was saying “John McCain” and the other was saying “Nevermore.” Really must dig that out again before this Oct. 31st!
