I never thought I’d encounter anyone in politics stupider than Sarah Palin.

    I was wrong.

Memo To Rick Perry: Social Security Is Not Facing ‘Dire Financial Challenges’

2012 GOP hopeful Texas Gov. Rick Perry today penned a USA Today op-ed on Social Security, clearly trying to lay to rest some of the controversy surrounding his deriding the program as a “monstrous lie” and a “Ponzi scheme” ahead of tonight’s Republican primary debate. Tellingly, nowhere in the op-ed do those words appear, nor does Perry revive his argument that Social Security is “by far the best example” of a program “violently tossing aside any respect for our founding principles.”

But despite calling for a “frank, honest national conversation” about Social Security, Perry misleadingly says that the program has “dire financial challenges” that require big changes (which Perry didn’t deign to explain):

I wonder if he’ll get tough questions on his past statements at the debate tonight, or will allow him to slide with his new and not much improved revised version that some campaign person wrote for him. In any case, this is preposterous—Rick Perry being considered for the candidacy for POTUS. Mind-boggling. Idiocy. Hasn’t he always just been a joke, Gov. Goodhair, the subject of ridicule?
I did enjoy the cartoons—-funny and frightening.

WIW, you are doing a fantastic job. I have posted the following newspapers

The first is the Kansas City Star which is a metropolitan newsaper that covers Kansas and Missouri and the surrounding areas.

This one is “The Call” which is one of the oldest and largest African American newspapers in the country and straddles Kansas and Missouri.

The third one is the Topeka Capital Journal where our sad sack Gov. Brownback resides.

I have one more to find which covers our Johnson County Kansas area and is huge. Thanks for your hard work and thanks Chips. You are the greatest.
