It’s not the best thing to see troops guarding airports and bus stations!
The police protects citizens from domestic threats, while the military protects citizens from foreign enemies!
When you put the military in charge of domestic threats, sometimes they may see the people as the enemy!
    Just saying!

With all the natural disasters, they probably need the extra manpower. Plus, better to see them on the streets of the United States, relatively safe from harm, versus in the deserts of Iraq or Afghanistan. I don’t think there’s a danger of them mistaking regular people as the enemy.

With the added need for security due to the ten year 9/11 anniversary coming up I am glad to see they are playing it safe with extra security. DC and NY have been earmarked for harm.

I am nervous because all four of my grown kids are meeting for a first annual gathering this weekend and flying back to their homes in different directions on Sunday which happens to be 9/11. I asked them to fly on a different day but you know I am being paranoid according to them.

Do they take into account that many watch from the Internet? With the three hour difference in time zones, there has to be a good number of people (like me) that were still at work when it aired. I watched it on Whitehouse.gov.

        Hi Jackie,

These are just the teevee #s and he out performed the NFL opener, btw!!!

I’d not be at all surprised that by now, via streaming live yesterday evening, replaying the PBS, White House YouTube, CSPAN, etc videos that well over 100 M Americans have seen some or all of the speech.

Those tbaggers drew less than 6 M for their mudslinging contest the previous night πŸ™‚

Indeed Jackie4Obama! They didn’t even take into account millions of us In Southern California who lost power Just a few minutes before the President began to speak. For example, here in San Diego county, with a population of more than three million people, we were without power for 6-12 hours.

The whole event in Richmond, VA was brilliant from start to finish; but this rallying cry from President Obama was just AMAZING!

How big was the crowd in Richmond. It reminded me of the days of the 2008 campaign. I would have told the GOP to pass the dam bill you sorry S.O.Bs. Just kidding I would not have said that.

I absolutely agree. I tweeted the video to @DWStweets (Debbie W Schultz), @IsraelDCCC (Rep. Steve Israel) @Thedemocrats @DCCC @DSCC and told them this would be a perfect campaign video to rally the base and others to make sure this bill becomes law.
