Repubs in a pickle. Tough explaining how they’re fierce for tax cuts but just not those for the middle class—the payroll tax cut.

Oh, the child in the last picture and the elderly lady capture my feelings about the president exactly! 🙂

And that 31 million isn’t counting all who watched PBO online, like I did. I wonder where those numbers are?

I too would be interested in the Whitehouse.gov number. Are we talking tens of thousands? hundreds of thousands? Into the millions?

    • September 10, 2011 at 12:36 am

Good question! I left work with peeps glued to their computers and I sure as heck whipped out my laptop as soon I got home. One of these days they’ll get hip to start reporting those numbers!

True! It also excludes many of us here in San diego/Orange county who missed watching because of power outage but watched replays once power was restored!

Good night Miss Chips. I make a suggestion for this weekend, seeing as this is the 10 year anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, that you make one thread for the weekend for us to respect, honor, and remember those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center and on the planes on September 11, as well as sharing stories about that tragic day.

Chips, you have created a masterpiece of a blog. I;’m only sorry that nowschool has started, I’ll be home less, and there isd no bloggiig at school. Even if I could sneak it in in the Rest Room with ac cell, it would be a distraction from the kids, and they don’t deserve it.

I’ll be around less, and evenb take a few days off here and there as I’ve done when I need a break, but thank you from my heart fro helping to make this a great summer for me…gail (yeah, I know I spent most of it as a “patient” but much good still emerged for me). ‘Night! If you’re even in CT….

Thanks for your dedication and commitment to our young people. Did I catch that you work with special needs kids? As an aunt of a niece with Rhetts Syndrome my heart is especially grateful. She has taught me so much, about the human spirit and our capacity to adapt and adjust, but especially about love. She is a delight and a blessing to our lives. And she LOVES going to school…she is 21, and she loves all those that help her and guide her and make everyday new and interesting for her and with her.

Will be looking for you to pop in when time in your busy schedule permits. Give your kids extra hugs from me 😀

I guess this is the letter (dated today; just spotted on whitehouse.gov) through which the President requests additional money for FEMA/disaster relief. Isn’t this the funding that Cantor has a problem with?

Letter from the President to the Speaker of the House of Representatives

    Dear Mr. Speaker:

I ask the Congress to consider the enclosed budget request for disaster response needs through Fiscal Year (FY) 2012. It includes a supplemental appropriations request for FY 2011 of $500 million and a budget amendment for FY 2012 of $4.6 billion for the Department of Homeland Security.

The proposed totals for FY 2011 and FY 2012 would increase by $5.1 billion as a result of this request. The additional funding would fund disaster response needs in the Disaster Relief Fund, including approximately $1.5 billion for the Federal share of costs to respond to Hurricane Irene.

This request responds to urgent and essential needs. The supplemental appropriations request would be designated as an emergency requirement. The request for FY 2012 in the budget amendment would constitute disaster relief within the meaning of section 251 of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985, as amended by the Budget Control Act of 2011, and would therefore adjust the discretionary spending levels for FY 2012 pursuant to section 251. The details of this request are set forth in the enclosed letter from the Director of the Office of Management and Budget.

    Sincerely,

    BARACK OBAMA

Good night everyone! I am so fired up! I mentioned on another thread I am so looking forward to Inauguration Day 2013 when we all attend The Obama Diary Party and we get to meet each other in person. I want to give a big hug and thank you to everyone here. The feelings I get when I am here is so strong it is hard to put into words. The real people here that work for the truth and for this country and this President. We don’t depend on idealogy. We depend on the truth. Thank you everyone.

Btw: the President is doing something very smart! He says he is in a jobs tour, and yet it is more or less campaigning!
So, he does not use OFA funds!
Me thinks that is just smart, killing two birds with one stone!

    • September 10, 2011 at 12:28 am

Well if the GOP wants to stop his jobs tour all the have to do is “pass the bill” – the longer they don’t the more job touring he’ll do. Admission was free, so there was no fundraising so the GOP wouldn’t have ground to stand on if they started whining.

    • September 10, 2011 at 2:42 am

LOL, benefits of being a sitting president also why it’s hard to beat a sitting president.

    • September 10, 2011 at 11:26 am

Happy Saturday TODville! Best wishes for a good, pain-free day for everyone!

By the way, in my world if this president ‘says he is’ on a jobs tour, then he is on a JOBS TOUR. IMO Republican obstructionism has forced the President into campaign mode to ensure the AJA gets passed. However, I find it hard to accept that PBO would be plotting to ‘kill two birds’ financially around the issue of putting Americans to work. Just my take, and I readily confess that I have a thing about nuances in word usage.

Willing to cooperate means to water it down. Their tactic is to either get the MSM to say “President Obama being unreasonable and unbending – unwilling to compromise” or to get a compromise and then further the “Obama is weak” meme they have their moles pushing.

The same MSM who never called Boehner on the carpet for taking the world economy to the brink to get 98% of what he wanted, when he could have settled for 70% and came to an agreement months before.

      September 10, 2011 at 1:45 am

StR, I always appreciate reading your opinion, but could we please stop repeating that Bohner obtained 98% of what he wanted? This is GOP spin.

      • 34 nintendowii10
        September 10, 2011 at 2:07 am

Yes, this has to be hammered that Tan Man Rusty didn’t get at all what he wanted, and was the first to blink along with McTurtle who actually wanted to give President Obama the authority to raise the debt ceiling. What Tan Man did get was a debt ceiling bill that guarantees the Bush tax cuts expire, and if the cuts are extended beyond 2012, that for every dollar is cut, half of it must come from defense spending. How Tan Man can say that this is “98% of what he wanted” is beyond me, even Rush Limbaugh was admitting that the Republicans got NOTHING out of the debt ceiling bill.

      • September 10, 2011 at 12:58 pm

I don’t think it’s a negative for us, I think it was a mistake by Boehner to say that. He said it – make him own it. The country seems to want compromise – Boehner took the economy to the brink and caused a downgrade to get 98% of what he wanted rather than getting a deal for 70% of what he wanted a month earlier. Also given that he made that claim, he takes on much more ownership of the economy – and given it’s not going to improve greatly in the next 14 months, Boehner getting 98% of what he wanted and the economy not making any strong gains couldn’t the case be made come the election that “Speaker Boehner said he got 98% of what he wanted 15 months ago and the economy is in the same spot – stagnant, and the economy was rebounding after the stimulus, maybe we should try more spending rather than austerity cuts…”.

Goodnite all and pleasant dreams. Chips thank you for the wonderful pictures and you guys are really great with your on target conversations with a little humor hear and there. It is a haven to air our concerns and our adulations for our great President. I’m up late as usual and just wanted to drop in and catch up with the latest now back to my geneology. I have over 1800 on my family tree so far. Patting myself on the back. 😆

Tweety Bird had one of the best analysis of the President Obama’s speech, IMO. He also included 95 bridges in need of immediate attention in Eric Cantor’s district. This is how we win..
