‘obama strongly leads gop candidates in california poll’

LA Times: …. a new USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll shows that Obama’s strength in California has endured despite deep dissatisfaction among voters with the economy. In hypothetical matchups, Obama led Romney by 19 points, Perry by 24 points and Bachmann by 26 points.

By 50% to 43%, voters approved of Obama’s handling of the presidency, down from a high of 60% a year after his election. But the state’s three most potent voter groups – women, nonpartisan voters and Latinos – remained firmly in his corner. Fifty-five percent of women and nonpartisan voters were satisfied with the job the president is doing, a judgment shared by 59% of Latinos.

…A Republican presidential candidate last carried California in 1988; in 2008, Obama won in a landslide over GOP nominee John McCain. Neither the economic downturn nor Obama’s slipping popularity had changed that dynamic markedly. Asked whether they preferred a Democratic or a Republican congressional candidate in a generic matchup, California voters chose the former by a 17-point margin.

…. In November 2009, voters had a 65% positive impression of Obama. Now, that figure is a relatively healthy, if diminished, 58% … Sixty-two percent of women viewed him positively, and 35% negatively. Sixty-four percent of nonpartisans embraced Obama, while 33% did not. Latino voters were even more positive, with 70% holding a positive impression of Obama and 28% with negative views.

The president was the most popular politician measured in the poll. His occasional nemesis, House Speaker John Boehner, had a 22% positive rating, 36 points lower than Obama’s.

I will keep you in my thoughts as well. Keeping taking care and get some rest as well. Hugs coming your way,HZ

What I think is gradually happening is that people are choosing to orient themselves in the direction the President is pointing us. Even though things are difficult, even though the lies and demonization is rampant on the Right, even though the Democrats have to learn solidarity anew, I think there is something in the healthy human spirit that responds to the idea of hope and change. We aren’t used to being able to trust or work together. We are used to division and things not being as they seem. But society is built on trust not distrust and we are able to collaborate again once we understand how we have been manipulated to pull apart. Collaboration is intrinsically motivating.

I agree, President Obama is prescient, supremely patient, and has a finely tuned sense of timing. We get so impatient, which does not help the matter at hand, but like you I sense a movement growing…which is a product of President Obama’s political acumen.

    Hi Everyone,

I want to tell you all that John Fugelsang is hosting the Stephanie Miller show (which airs here in So. Calif. from 6:00 am to 9:00 am). He’s great to listen to and I’m learning a lot from him.

At work I sometimes tune into Thom Hartman. Which can at times be a good and bad thing. Most of the time, I don’t listen very long, as he likes to bash our Presdient. Today he was ragging on the speech he’s giving tomorrow; saying it follows some of Reagan’s ideas. I turned it off right away, of course. I always try to remember that our wonderful President has way more information than him, is EXTREMELY capable and smart, and all the other times I worried and how he came through with flying colors!

A great thing I heard today was a news report that right now there’s more adds for jobs than before! Isn’t that great!

I want to alert all of you that John Fugelsang is hosting the Stephanie Miller show this week. He’s very good and informative.

I heard a news report that there’s now more ads for jobs than before. Isn’t that great?!

In the few minutes I listened, Thom Hartman was bashing the President’s speech and ideas already. He said they were Reagen ideas. This is when I remember how the Pres always comes through with flying colors.

I work in a school district. A lot of teachers don’t like the Presdient’s endorsement of Merit pay for teachers. I look it up and saw a press conference with Arne Duncan. He’s supposedly the one pushing this meme. All I could find with the President was him endorsing it in 2009. Any of you smart people have any comments about this? Any teachers? Their points are valid.

Oh, I forgot to mention this. Please call your Senators to tell them to support Richard Cordray, POB’s nominee for the Director of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I just received a Leadership Conference Action Alert to call. I called my two Senators. Do not forget to make those calls. Love my TOD Family.HZ

Go California! I am so proud of my state. In the midst of all insanity going on in other parts of the country, I am delighted to know that most of us in California still appreciate and support President Obama.
