Non-contrived, unrestrained empathy will always be the reason why he will be re-elected.

Something I think….Christie will never again be able to talk about the President the way he has in the past. Now, he has met him and has talked with him, that makes a big difference with people. He’s SEEN with his own eyes the kind of person the President is. That has to have a long term effect. So many of the people constantly harping on him refuse to meet him in person. I think they are SCARED! They know, deep inside, that if they meet him, they will change their minds and won’t be able to talk the same horrible ways. Like DWS, I am a glass half-full person, and firmly believe that the goodness in President Obama will shine through and win. People are slow often, but good always triumphs over bad in the long run. These things don’t work in our designated time schedule, but they do work.

Let’s hope he has a conscience. I believe he was invited to the White House for one of those State Dinners.

    • September 4, 2011 at 7:02 pm

Just a reminder that this is NOT the first time Christie has met with the President. Apart from his attendance at the WH Governors’ retreat earlier in the year, we’ve seen pictures here of him walking beside PBO at some other function, though I can’t remember now what it was. I believe it was after one of such photo-ops that he made the statement that he could win, but he wasn’t going to run. Nevertheless, it is good to see him being focused more on the needs of his constituents, and not on his party’s line.

    • September 4, 2011 at 7:50 pm

Giuliani met the president at the fire station I NYC, after obl was killed. Basically said, that the president is a warm and caring man and not what he expected. Of course, he is not what you expected! Listening to glen beck and hannity every night- yeah right!

Did you notice, Carolyn, that in the pics where PBO is making physical contact with people, Christie’s hands are in his pockets? What is he afraid of catching? IMO, it looks bad for him to have his hands in his pockets while PBO is making real contact with the people. He so reminds me of GWB.

  4. September 4, 2011 at 7:01 pm

President Obama is a good hugger and is always putting his arm around people, even Gov. Christie. I like that about him. He’s warm and caring and provides comfort. He’s got a long list of sterling qualities.

Love is kind and lacks pretense and it involves treating others as one would want to be treated

    • September 4, 2011 at 9:37 pm

Linda, my middle daughter, who had her wedding in our back garden, had that famous bible verse read out by the priest —

      1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Those lines perfectly describes our president.

Why aren’t the Republican presidential candidates in these towns? Remember when candidate Obama went somewhere in the midwest and was loading bags of sand in preparation for flooding? Now CNN is showing Romney sucking up at a Tea Party rally. sigh.

aamom, these are poor and middle class people, you know those Republicans don’t give a dam about people like that. But we do have a President who care about these people.

    • September 4, 2011 at 7:27 pm

Aamon, they aren’t helping because they depise the middle-class, the poor and Government. They only want the keys to the White House to screw more of us out of our pensions, 401ks, Social Security. Medicare, and Voting Rights..

Good, Romney is tacking teabagger right. Wednesday debate will be interesting as Romney isn’t the front runner anymore and I expect the gloves to finally come off. Romney never saw Bachmann as a threat so still played above it all – now with Perry in the race he’ll need to go at him, and it will be interesting to see Perry respond – he’s not in Texas anymore.

I am watching Julian Assange and I have the funny feeling that he might pull another stunt next year just before the 2012 elections in favor of the President. With the threats made against him by the likes of Palin and co;he might just retaliate against them.As long as he doesn’t put their lives at risk I won’t mind if he does something unexpected and exposes these radicals.
There is a LOT we don’t know about the likes of Palin;Perry;Bachmann;Huntsman and co and I promise you if he does find something that will blow them up I say go ahead!

having said that.I wish you all a good afternoon;evening and night TOD family

thank you Chip for this wonderful site.

    • September 4, 2011 at 7:59 pm

I don’t think Assange is friends of the President considering he is releasing secret diplomatic cables that is causing huge headaches in the State Department.

Given the last drop was supposed to be his insurance policy – I wouldn’t fly in any small planes with Assange.

      • September 4, 2011 at 8:30 pm

I agree with you StR, I always gotta the feeling he was trying to embaress the president rather than help. Where was he during when the president has been having problems with wingnuts. Should there b esomething outthere about murdoch, ailes and deMented/

        September 4, 2011 at 9:06 pm

You are correct, StR. Assange is a conservative from what I read. And the fact that he’s the PL’s hero tells me that his motives are not about helping the President in any way shape or form.

        September 4, 2011 at 9:41 pm

StR, I agree with you 100%! There is no way this guy is a friend of the President, or cares about the country. Any stunt he pulls will be purely for his own self-promotion.

    Hi All,

Have not posted in a long time but I have been lurking. Saw persons were trying to remember when Gov. Christie was in company with Pres. Obama. They were at the Ground Zero function after Osama was killed.

  13. September 4, 2011 at 7:56 pm

I saw this article a few days ago and was encouraged. We need to ask all our Democratic representative to get behind Nancy on this.

Pelosi blames GOP for job numbers

    • September 4, 2011 at 8:04 pm

      September 4, 2011 at 9:20 pm

Good article – and then you get to the comments. I really, truly don’t understand the hate in some of these black hearts, I honestly don’t. Is the way many people are brought up? My folks were Republican (though I seriously think my mom voted for JFK ๐Ÿ™‚ , but they were loving, kind people and would be appalled at what’s going on these days. Perhaps it’s just the ability to hide behind a screen, knowing you can say any vile, disgusting thing.

It seems the same on almost every site. Are there REALLY that many people that hate that much or are they just more vocal? I certainly don’t like Palin and friends, to put it mildly, but I would never post such mean-spirited, horrendous remarks. And I thought we were divided during the Vietnam days!

Thanks for all the uplifting pictures, videos and comments. There is so much goodness on these pages that it brings tears to my eyes. Somehow I ended up here after reading yet another rant about PBO “caving” on the democratic underground. Always seems to be a video of Cenk, sigh. He must have come unglued after seeing Rev Al get a show.

ok I had my Christie fun for today but in reality, I just don’t get the sense he’s that batsh%%t crazy like the rest. He knows he’s in a blue state and I applaud him for meeting and greeting the Prez today. He knows what the Prez presence means for these folks.
ok…Boardwalk Empire is on. Goodnite all.

    • September 4, 2011 at 8:02 pm

He’s not. He’s an old school Republican – we’ll hate his guts because he is a bully, but I think he could work with Democrats on issues of mutual benefit/interest. Screwed over unions in New Jersey like the rest of them though.

  15. September 4, 2011 at 8:01 pm

These pictures are beautiful. I always love seeing the President no matter the situation — he has such grace about him. And in situations where people are in need like this, he is so compassionate. You can tell by the people that reach out for him and his caring response.

A couple of weeks ago I looked at all the upset in the press and online and I realized things were never going to be the same. I had the idea that if we could get a Democratic majority again in 2012, we would have excellent legislation that would fix our problems and the Tea Party would fade away. And that somehow we would be back to the sanity we had before.

What I realized is that it will never be the same and that’s a very, very good thing. There are things that needed to be changed for a long time — ways of doing business, people’s beliefs, ways the government was working, that weren’t working for the good of the people and our country. Now all these problems are out in the open where everyone can see them, make choices, make decisions about how they want life to be and take action. We can never go back or would really want to, the path is through all of this to the new that we want to create.

One reason the people in this country don’t know what is going on is that there is so much attention paid to the Republicans and Leftbaggers. Either by people who are agreeing with them or those that don’t agree. Some people are warriors and want to make the good fight against them. I applaud and appreciate them.

Everyone has to make their own choice. For my own peace of mind I’ve decided I am not going to read ANYTHING that is negative about the President anymore. I don’t watch television or read newspapers. I get all of my information online and I will only look at that which is positive and working toward solutions. The President is asking us to work with him to get him elected, to get people registered to vote, to get good Democrats elected so that’s where I’m going to focus my attention.

I appreciate this place you have created, Chipsticks and all of the positive TODers here. President Obama will be elected. I have no doubt about it. Pelosi and the DSCC are doing an outstanding job working for the Democratic majority in the House. There are good Democrats running for the Senate. This is a wonderful creative time when we can join together to create the world we want to live in. It’s a very powerful time.

The President is truly a beautiful person who inspires me. I’m absolutely honored to work for him and with him and with all of you.

Big week for the President – Labor Day speech in Detroit tomorrow, Joint Session Jobs Speech on Thursday, and the 9/11 Ceremonies next Sunday where he’ll speak at all three locations.

10 year anniversary of 9/11 was also on the mind of Bin Laden, so everybody keep very vigilant and report anything you see that doesn’t sit right in your gut. You know your community and when something seems out of place. Don’t feel silly about calling things in.

  19. September 4, 2011 at 8:11 pm

I can’t wait till the president starts campaigning again. It’s going to be epic!

    • September 4, 2011 at 8:22 pm

He’s strategically holding fire right now, knows the polling now is meaningless. It’s about peaking at the right time – which is November 2012.

    • September 4, 2011 at 8:47 pm

I think there will be a huge push as part of the campaign to go around the MSM filter. President Obama will hit 10M twitter followers within the next week if he keeps up his current pace – that will be a huge tool come the thick of the campaign. Also the campaign hired that apps wizard a couple of months ago – who knows what he’s coming up with but I’m intrigued at the possibilities.

you know really, one would have to be a DANG fool, not to see that our beloved President Is a genuine and caring Man. How could the common sense people, the people with Wisdom, not re-elect him? He’s a sure winner again, It’s a gut feeling, and a strong hunch. PBO Is covered by our Lord and Master In heaven. When I look at the snapshots here on this blog are so telling, and real. People just need some reassurance that everything Is going to be okay, so then a hug from our President, Is soothing. Again, how can the American people not see the realism and genuine caring from our President. especially when we’ve seldom seen this from pass Presidents. These kind of reflections sticks not only In the minds of the American people, but In their hearts. So why not re-elect PBO ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t trust the media, the pictures we see of the people standing aside the road waiting for the President’s motorcade to past were cheering for the President, when CNN, MSNBC, and the other stations show it you will see people standing out there with signs and yelling against the President.

The President is going to make Tea Party a dirty word.
