Thanks Chips and might I say, all the President’s men have got this. Not worried one bit. These guys are masters and the best of the best.
He’s probably going to Camp David to work on his speech. Don’t blame him.
Loving this pic though. Pete should be uploading all the pictures from August soon. Can’t wait.
With all of those brains in that room, I know things will work out. 🙂
Good. Camp David is the only place where he can get solace from the media vultures and have private friends visit.
So the speech is going to be at 7pm est? That’s too early for east coasters let alone its 4pm for West Coasters. Nobody is going to see it. Not good. Maybe it should have been pushed back to the following Tuesday.
The West Coast is solidly behind President Obama. The folk who will be in bars or/and in front of their teevees munching on tasty snacks and having beers, or whatever, awaiting the beginning of the NFL season kick-off game are largely the audience for this speech. Timing couldn’t be better imho.
Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!
Nevada and Colorado will be in play in 2012. 7PM isn’t even in prime time. I’d be willing to bet the speech will not get over 20M viewers.
They will talk about on the news. The ywon’t missed the speech.
I don’t trust the news to give a proper representation of the address. I’d much rather folks watch it themselves.
StR, isn’t their some way people can record the speech?
True that Bobbie. They don’t call the West Coast the Left Coast for nothin’. 😎
Not too early for the east coasters. The speech will be after the evening news. It beats the 9pm spot.
8pm is ideal, 9pm is better than 7pm.
8pm will delay the football kickoff. Obama don’t want to piss off any football fans. He may also want to see the game.I dont think NBC likes the time slot also.
You have really been ULTRA NEGATIVE lately STR. If folks want to see the PREZ they will watch even if is at midnight. This is not the 1950’s or even the 1970’s where if you missed the live telecast you won’t be able to see it at all. There will be constant playback on newcasts, playback on Youtube, and plenty of runs of the speech on most internet news sites and political websites. Not to worry. Oh and Cable news as well. C-span will probably replay the whole speech at some point.
Plus some have DVRs.
The Nielson Ratings are no longer accurate because of the prevalence of time shifting. People record and watch at their leisure. I wouldn’t watch at 7 or 8 or maybe 9. Won’t matter, I’ll record it.
Haha, so true Keith, I was thinking the same thing, lol. Everybody’s gonna see it that want to see it.
You could livestream from WH.gov while watching the football on TV, or vice-versa. People can even watch stuff from their smartphones if they don’t have a problem with eyestrain. If you want to see something, it’s there.
The address isn’t for the political junkies who want to see it, it’s about locking down a primetime slot from all networks at the same time and basically having a captive audience.
Good point STR. Never the less you will have more viewers than you would with a White house Press Room or Blue Room speech mid day for the Whitehouse Press JACKELS to devour. A joint session with Congress grabs folks attention. You have to remember PBO has one more SOTU address to make in January of 2012 before the election. Most definately that will be in primetime. PBO and his crew is always thinking long game my friend. We only know a tad bit of what is in store by this BRILLIANT administration. Stay tuned.
While the 7 p.m. time slot may not be ideal, there’s no longer such thing as a captive audience. Cable and satellite, with at least 150 channels to choose from, have changed that. I couldn’t even tell you how many addresses Bush gave in prime time – because I flipped the channel. If people want to hear what PBO says, they will find a way. If they’re not interested, they’re not interested.
Exactly folks. We are in the second decade of the 21st century. Folks that want to know the President’s new Jobs plan can find out with little effort. Too much technology. BTW STR they even have technological advancements in communications in Nevada and Colorado. 😉
Look at television ratings for the 7pm hour vs the 8pm and even 9pm hour. The joint session address isn’t something that folks will DVR or go out of their way to see, it’s the type of thing you put on all networks in prime time to have a captive audience and basically force folks to watch.
And please give examples when I have been ultra negative lately.
LATELY??!!
Good Night, StR. Sometimes your info is helpful, other times you wear me down. Get some sleep.
LOL!!!
If anyone want to see the speech they will fine a way to see it. If it is not seen by 20 millions then it’s not seen by 20 million. I will watch a speech by this President at 4am. I am counting the days.
Of course we’ll go out of our way to see it. We need the folks that wouldn’t. They flop down on their sofa’s to watch whatever show is on the respective networks and they see the President speaking, flip to the other channels and the President is there as well. They might flip to HGTV and have already seen the show, flip to the NFL pre-game and realize Kid Rock isn’t very talented and then decide to flip back to the President, if for no other reason than to make sure they don’t miss the cut in to the regularly scheduled program they initially wanted to watch.
The 8pm slot that you keep suggest won’t be seen by everyone either.
exactly.
Checkmate 😎 Everyone’s ideal time at 9pm just won’t happen due to America’s favorite pass time football. If anyone is SOUR over this time slot and the date for that matter they need go to Tally’s BRILLIANT op-ed a few threads back and get some useful information. 😉
Why thank you Keith!
Let me break it down for you WHY 7pm EDT is fine……
Let’s pretend you’re a FOOTBALL fan, as opposed to a futból fan…. Opening Game Of The Season. Saints v Packers. (I’m sorry, is Mike Magee, Robbie Keane, or the überhawt Diego Forlán playing? No? Why do I care? But I digress….)
If you’re planning on watching this game, chances are you’re going to be where you are before it begins at 8:30pm EDT.
If you watched the ClownCarCrazy® Race To Insanity the night before, you’re probably pretty fucking horrified, and might be wanting to see why the BFD regarding the whole SCHEDULEGATE nonsense is about, and for the sake of ALL THE GODS EVERYWHERE, is there SOMEONE who isn’t batshit crazy????
So if you turn on your TV, or you’re in a bar, waiting for the game, having gotten there early to get a decent seat, and you’ve got your beer and your wings, and there is a TV ON – chances are the channel you’re tuned to, unless it’s Nickelodeon, is going to be broadcasting the JOINT SESSION. including NBC, which will air The Game.
6pm CDT is going to be the same scenario as above. They do everything an hour early TV time, so they’re used to it.
5pm MDT – is tricky, but they’re pretty big fans too, so they’ll either be in their cars – they can listen if they’re not on a music station, or they’ll be en-route, or close. Besides, there’s mostly rocks and coyotes here. Vegas has TVs in the casinos, so the speech will be on in the Sports Books, and they’ll have a crowd for the opening game. Denver will be paying attention. Colorado Springs can’t afford electricity anymore since they’re überconservative and pay no taxes, and they’ve gone caveman anyway. Utah…… is well, Utah. The rest? The people who care will watch. The people who don’t, probably won’t vote anyway, or would never vote for a black man even if Hitler were to become a zombie.
4pm PDT – We care. A LOT. The Left Coast will watch. The West Coast PL/EmoProgs will watch so they can whine about what Obama didn’t say, and how they’re all pissed off that he never called to ask them. The Hillary Would Be Better Bunch won’t because they can’t allow anything to derail their personal denial. The rational Independents will watch because of Wednesday’s Horror Fest that was way too soon before Halloween, and REALLY SCARED THEM SHITLESS. And the Freepers in Fresno are lost in Fresno.
If this was all taking place Tuesday, no one would care unless they’re political junkies like us.
If this were Wed, the same time as the Express Train to Crazytown, neither would get an extra audience.
Thursday is perfect. They have a built in audience of millions of people already PLANNING TO WATCH THE SAME CHANNEL IT WILL BE BROADCAST ON. And NOW, since the Rush had a tantrum, and the Media got foamy, it’s now a BIG FUCKING DEAL.
Epic. Win.
😀
You are the GREATEST Tally. 😉
No, YOU ARE!!! 😀 😀 😀
stop being a downer…PLEASE!!!!!
Small disagreement here. The speech impact their lives. If they care enough, they will watch. We as Americans need to start taking responsibility for our own lives. People find time to do all sorts of things, when it benefits them.
Hopefully they will think this is important enough.
I agree. Which is why I don’t accept the idea that the football game is reason to put it on at 7pm.
I agree with you africatimes2 100%.
I want to know what the President will say, so if people think it is important enough for them to watch, then they will watch it.
What a powerhouse of talent in that photo. We could not ask for more dedicated public servants. The only person missing is the adorable Jay “Clark Kent” Carney.
“The Hour Of The Jackals” has been especially trying these last few days with the press obsession with the scheduling of the speech to congress. They have taken “Look At That Shiny Object” to a whole new level. It just shows that they are not interested in educating and informing the public with the facts. Their most powerful weapon against this brilliant president (who makes them feel small) is that they get to set the narrative. Most of them sit in the briefing room looking like cheshire cats because reporting is a game. There must be winners and losers no matter what the issue ie. That’s all they care about. My heart goes out to Jay, he has the patience of Job.
Can’t believe this one—-if you remember the tea party duo who confronted President Obama in Decorah, Ia. on his recent bus tour, which of course made the news because it was the only negative to report from that successful series of town halls—–well, the girl is now saying her “confrontation” with Obama has made her decide to run for office in Iowa. Now I know what that little staged moment was all about—getting some tea party cred. Just unbelievable, these people:
http://caucuses.desmoinesregister.com/2011/09/01/iowa-goper-inspired-to-run-for-statehouse-by-confrontation-with-obama/
grifters everywhere
My goodness. Grifters, leeches, parasites, scum. They all use this President as a jumping base for their nefarious actions.
If I were PBO, I’d be doing the same thing. Getting on Marine One and going to Camp David for some peace and quiet surrounded by family who love him unconditionally, so he can work on his kick ass jobs speech. Let the msm and the GOP enjoy the toxic mess of the political side of D.C. on the weekend.
hey i’m going to check that video again and see if Romney is anywhere in the background
😆 Wouldn’t be surprised if he was lurkin’ around in the crowd…
She’ll do well – like that other plant, Joe the Plumber.
I emailed that guy after the incident. My email: *We are saddened and sickened by the way you represented the state of Iowa so poorly today, in heckling the sitting President of the United States. It’s a reflection on you – not him. Please apologize to him. We will pray for you. Thank you.*
I passive-aggressively kicked in the *We will pray for you,* just to get his goat further, like maybe I was reasonable or didn’t hate him or something. Ha! Here’s what he wrote back:
*My soul is taken care of I prefer you pray for our country in this critical time.*
Joanne the Plumber. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.
President Obama is so darn good looking. Sorry, can’t help but go there, ladies.
This is unbelievable——remember the tea party duo who caused a confrontation with President Obama at the end of his appearance in Decorah, Ia. during his recent bus tour? It got a lot of media attention because it was the only negative they had to report from the successful series of town halls. Well the t party girl now says that the confrontation has caused her to run for office in Iowa, so outraged was she by Obama’s (decent) treatment of their concerns. Now we know what that staged protest was all about. These people just take the cake—-lying, deceptive lowlifes:

Obama Detroit Labor Day speech to be preceded by Aretha singing
President Barack Obama’s Labor Day address in Detroit will be open to the public and follow entertainment by Aretha Franklin and the Mosaic Youth Theatre, the White House said Thursday.
Obama will be in Detroit to meet “with workers and their families as well as discuss his bipartisan efforts to create jobs and strengthen our economy,” the White House said in a statement.
From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20110901/POLITICS03/109010437/Obama-Detroit-Labor-Day-speech-to-be-preceded-by-Aretha-singing#ixzz1Wl3cy12x
Oh, my.
Looking forward to her hat this year!
I’m pretty sure Maxine and Conyers knew of this visit when they were implying to their audience that Prez. preferred White people. Waters asked why Prez was in Iowa and not Detroit or Atlanta. Gee Ms. Waters I have no idea why Prez was in Iowa for a talk on the RURAL economy.
Well, I read on Twitter that Maxine and the CBC’s Jobs bus tour goal of 10,000 jobs fell short by a mere 9,937. Sixty-three (63) jobs in total.
And those 63 probably went to their family members…
LOL.
LOL! Thanks for the laugh.
Really funny! But then again you may be right.
“Well, I read on Twitter that Maxine and the CBC’s Jobs bus tour goal of 10,000 jobs fell short by a mere 9,937. Sixty-three (63) jobs in total.”
ROFLMAO! Thanks for the much-needed laugh hopefruit2.
Gah! I read that on twitter too. So Obama created almost 3 million jobs and the CbC created 63. hmmmm…..
OMG LMAO!! 😆 The clowns that our BRILLIANT Prez has to deal with. LOL
hopefruit2, maybe if Mrs. Waters and the CBC had been doing something about jobs all the many, many, many years they have been in Congress, instead of deciding to do something this year, they would have been more successful. All the while running around blaming the President cause he haven’t solve the unemployment in the black community in the two and a half years he has been President. Well Maxine Waters has been in Congress how long? Should we blame her and the CBC that the unemployment isn’t better in the black community? What respect I had for her is long gone.
Agreed annibella. Now they see pbo cannot wave a magic wand and make jobs appear. Rev al says that he hope the dems are ready to get behind pbo and support him after the speech.
Wow. Interesting.
Confidential to Chips:
I got it.

HEADLINE: U.S. Is Set to Sue a Dozen Big Banks Over Mortgages
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/02/business/us-is-set-to-sue-dozen-big-banks-over-mortgages.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all?src=tp
Good news. The Obama Administration is once again on the ball.
Also, the Fed says that Goldman Sachs has to pay homeowners harmed by their financial misconduct.
“NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The Federal Reserve sanctioned Goldman Sachs on Thursday, saying the investment bank must investigate questionable lending and foreclosure practices in its former mortgage unit.
The action orders Goldman to review foreclosure proceedings by Litton Loan Servicing between 2009 and 2010 to address “a pattern of misconduct and negligence relating to deficient practices,” the Fed said.
The move came on the same day that Goldman announced it had sold Litton, the 23rd-largest U.S. mortgage servicing company, to Ocwen Financial Corp.
The Fed said Goldman will be required to compensate any homeowners that were found to have been harmed financially by the alleged misconduct. The central bank also said it plans to announce monetary penalties against Goldman.”

Excellent.
FABULOUS!!! THIS RACE IS NOT OVER YET FOLKS. WE HAVE A MASTER CHESS PLAYER IN THE WHITEHOUSE!!
Actually it IS over. President Barack Hussein Obama is shattering every fundraising # at this point in a campaign already, and OFA is now a well-oiled machine that’s beating all it’s own estimates of involvement so far…way beyond where they were in the last Presidential campaign, and there’s no significant primary this time.
Our guy will win no problem. It’s ALL about the House and Senate now, and we’ve GOT TO have major victory on that front. So let’s get offline and get busy with the work that actually wins elections…find your local OFA chapter and get down there, y’all!
Please don’t get too complacent – there is an electoral fight ahead.
– There will be a batshit crazy GOP candidate that people on the left will think can’t possibly win (Reagan) and will stay home.
– There are hired GOP bloggers everywhere who are doing a mass psyop to demoralize the Left. It already worked in 2010.
– There is RECORD VOTER SUPPRESSION in almost EVERY STATE.
– There will be RECORD NUMBERS OF E-VOTING MACHINES that are OWNED BY THE GOP. (Easiest way to steal an election. VOTE ABSENTEE, BY MAIL, ON PAPER IF YOU CAN!!! REGISTER NOW!!!)
– There are states where they are cutting back on early voting.
– This will be a fight that will end up in the SCOTUS again, that ROVE will try to STEAL AGAIN, unless we come out in RECORD NUMBERS AGAIN.
Chips, I vote this to be a word from Tally.
Still, we must work like we are 100 points behind. Can never be satisfied until PBO is in the White House again.
” So let’s get offline and get busy with the work that actually wins elections”
Exactly right !
hopefruit2, as you know, anyone whom thinks this is accidental, either in timing or substance, is a fool (aka PL, newstainers, Republicans – all of whom, are just that, FOOLS!)
This is just the beginning ……..
Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!
Easy does it. He gets the job done, while people bluster.
Hear the good new! president Obama is abt to sue a dozen banks over mortgages. Think progress.com
Tulips you and I were posting the same thing at the same time!!! 🙂 Great minds think alike!
LOL! if they give him time, The president i knew in my heart he was doing behind the scence things. He could not come out the door with out being prepared. The left owe this President an great big apology.
This is why the banksters are going hard for Romney in their donations. They want the wild west back.
Yes, I told ya’ll from the JUMP……Romney is Corp America and Wall Str. front man. Obviously PBO is not in their best interest. He will get his millions from us, Hollywood, and unions. Perry is going to get financed by Texas Big Oil. The primaries will be a BLAST with all the NUTJOBS banging HEADS.
Hey everyone lets start emailing and twittering Brian Williams questions he should ask the republican candidates at the debate.
*Ask Corporate Romney how many private sector jobs did he create?
*Ask each candidate what are their jobs plans?
*Aks each candidate would they issue cuts before they agree to help disaster victims?
YES!!! Another small getaway. You deserve it Mr. President. Enjoy!

*Ask corporate raider Romney, how many private sector jobs did he create?
*Ask each candidate what are their Jobs plans?
*Ask Rick Perry how many jobs created in his state were Government jobs?
*Ask each candidate if FEMA runs short of cash, how would they replenish this funding?
*Ask each candidate if they feel that Government is the problem, then why do they so desperately want to work for it?

Very proactive – thank you!
Thanks JOboomer!
I’m up late, have to go to work tomorrow but I did something I rarely do and that was taking a long nap when I came home for work so I’m making use of my time tweetin questions for the republican candidates next week.
Tweets so far follows:
Please send candidate questions to Brian Williams @nbcnightlynews “What are your job plans?
Candidate questions for Brian Williams @nbcnightlynews “Do you agree with Dick Cheney’s view on torture?”
Candidate questions for Brian Williams @nbcnightlynews “Does this presidnet deserve any credit for killing OBL?”
Candidate questions for Brian Williams @nbcnightlynews “Do you agree with the pull out date for Iraq, or would you stay longer?
Candidate questions for Brian Williams @nbcnightlynews “If FEMA runs low on cash how wil they replenish funding?”
Candidate questions for Brian Williams @nbcnightlynews “Romney, how many private sector jobs did you create?’
Thanks, bjw2! All excellent questions! Lets hope Brian Williams picks some of them.
Here’s a question for Rick Perry, did he use that horrible Stimulus money to balance Texas budget?
Candidate questions for Brian Williams @nbcnightlynews “Are you for a law that makes lying as a journalist/newscaster ILLEGAL like they have in Canada?”
Candidate questions for Brian Williams @nbcnightlynews “How are you going to rein in BANKS, and get tough on FINANCIAL REGULATION?”
That should be tweeted a bazillion times, because you KNOW they hate regulation of any kind, and I want them to SAY THAT OUT LOUD.
We need to be asking questions that bring out their hideous policies like:
– Union Busting
– Government of the UTERUS
– Privatizing EVERY FUCKING THING ON EARTH
– How does the Government get revenue for needed things like DEFENSE, PUBLIC WORKS, POLICE, FIRE, ROADS, the FAA, Airport Security, YOUR PAYCHECK etc if there are no taxes??
And most importantly:
Candidate questions for Brian Williams @nbcnightlynews “Are you for cutting the LIFETIME BENEFITS AND PAYCHECKS for MEMBERS OF CONGRESS?”
That last one should be STOPPING instead of cutting.
Hey everyone. Since PBO speech time at 7 p.m. is being discussed as to whether it is a good time or not, how about we try to maximize his viewership by doing something to urge people to watch. Let’s get on twitter the day before and during the day of and push it. Those on Facebook, do the same thing with your friends.
As StR noted, not everyone is political junkie, but lots and lots of people have facebook I gather and twitter too, I hope. If we can get others we know on facebook who are not necessarily political junkies to help spread the word that would help.
I am enlisting all my youngish neices and my son to help by posting on their walls and reminding their parents.
People should watch the speech no matter the time, because for millions it impacts their lives. Surely, I hope they will spare a few minutes to hear what this means to them.
Let’s go do it.
Hope everyone’s day is a bit brighter than yesterday. And remember, we are the ones we’ve been waiting for. No matter how much the media and GOP tries to tear PBO down, we’ve got his back. And more importantly he’s GOT THIS! We need to do the ground work.
Chow!!
