Irene costs restart Washington budget battle

Storm costs could amount to billions of dollars:

Washington’s never-ending budget battle threatened to snarl the recovery from Hurricane Irene as a top Republican said on Monday that any federal aid will have to be offset by spending cuts elsewhere….

After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and much of the surrounding region in 2005, the Republican-controlled Congress approved $81.6 billion as “emergency spending” outside of the normal budget process.

So, why NOT now? Please Wake Up America and STOP this GOP led asinine & childish behavior.

“Sí Se Puede! Yes We Can!”

Everytime I see data about the hell-hole GWB put this country into and the phenomenal, herculean job President Obama has been undertaking everyday to rewrite the mess and set us on a stronger footing, I’m so thankful and filled with gratitude that he signed on for this massive task and is stronger than brick.

Could you also send it to Norah O’Donnell who has replaced Chip Reid. She seems to have a bug up her arse about the fact that President Obama makes it a point to let people know he did not create the mess we are in, but as president he is responsible for cleaning up the mess made by the Bush administration.

Oooooooh good idea. I’m going to send it to Norah, Knoller, Todd, and the rest of the GOP morons.

From observing Norah over the last few years, I always had her tagged as liberal-leaning. This was the impression I got from her various comments, and watching her just delight in reporting on all the Palin stupidity. She has done a 180 since assuming this new position. I am trying to figure out if this new anti-Obama persona is to look tough and please her new bosses at CBS or to try and fit in with the other anti-Obama WH press pool. It would be interesting to know.

I know right? I liked her when she was on MSNBC. She was not only left leaning, but she didn’t indulge in the nonsense that the WH press corps indulges in. And she also didn’t indulge in the nonsense some of the bloviated talking heads at MSNBC indulge in. When she had a dem or repub congressperson on whatever show she was filling in; she held them to the same standards. She asked tough questions, she knew the facts, and she really really didn’t let the GOP come on and spew lies. I often scratch my head and wonder what the hell has gone wrong with her.

That was my take as well. I was truly surprised by her 180. I am thinking it has to do wit the groupthink mentality in the presscorps. It seems like Tapper and Todd set the tone in the press room and the other reporters follow along like mindless sheep.

I haven’t seen Norah O’Donnnell on the CBS Evening news much. I saw her immediately after she came on the news, and I immediately wrote her and Scott Pelley telling her her snark was not appreciated. I also told her she had been at MSNBC too long with her attitude, and needed to learn how to report facts for CBS, and reminded her of the CBS tradition with Walter Cronkite, etc. Actually since that email I haven’t seen her….I don’t watch the news conferences, they are exercises in futility. I’m sure she’ll be on as soon as Congress is in session again. However, I have made monitoring her on the news my personal mission.
ABC with Diane Sawyer is ridiculous, not hard news, just her silly stuff. NBC has pretty much become all Brian Williams and his ego, Last Friday evening ALL those two channels had on the news was how Irene was going to affect New York City…..not the rest of the coast. Sawyer went out on the street to ask people their pre-reactions!!!! I changed to CBS and Anthony Mason was on., and he was telling about Libya and other non-hurricane stories. Tonight CBS spent the first ten minutes showing the damage outside of New York City and showing how serious this storm was. When Pelley asks the correspondents questions, he does not ask opinion questions, he asks fact questions or clarification questions. They also did a good segment on Libya and Qadaffy’s houses and planes, and Powell talking about Cheney’s book.

Scott Pelley was good tonight, if he wasn’t in the Media business I would add Him on my list of good looking men crushes and Nora has really disappointed me since she left msnbc .

Awwwww Chips! Did you post this just for me????? Kidding…but I do have a right wing brother-in-law. He is a lost cause. Imagine a male version of Michele Bachman. The whole bit. No science, no evolution, no climate change. God gave man dominion over the earth to do with as he sees fit and if he sees fit to drill all the oil out of it and frack it till it’s dead then that’s all well and good because God intends to give all his followers a new body and a new earth. We won’t be needing this one anymore…well at least the Christians won’t, not all the Christians..only the “right sort” of Christians. Should I mention the gay issue? Maybe not. (I wish I was joking! I really am not joking)

Thanks for the link. I will send it out to people who are not lost causes.

The facts are clear – Obama inheriter an economy in free fall and a deficit built sky high by 3 wars, tax cuts, and the collapse of Wall Street. The issue is, will the Republicans be able to convince the public that our economic situation is Obama’s mess. Damn the facts – voters can be fooled. They often have a short memory.
