Hi everyone, I posted about the new Pragmatic Obots Unite site a couple of days ago, but I didn’t realize why it had changed from W.E.E. See You until now – read about it here.
Wishing Pragmatic Obots Unite the brightest of futures, the site is wonderful.
Oh my, that was painful to read. I have New found Respect for Chipsticks and BWD for the emotional stress and determination that is needed to run a Blog. Its not easy to support PBO unconditionally but we have to remind ourselves what is at stake and put our pity grievances aside.
Well, I’m glad they didn’t wait to fly on their own! YAY! One more AWESOME PRO-OBAMA BLOG!
I just found this video, and thought, WTH are people bitching about? Pragmatism and compromise IS CHANGE. Being exclusive, “My way or the highway” and sulking in your corner painting anyone who disagrees with you the enemy you should destroy IS THE SAME POISONOUS SHIT and NOT change.
Did they forget when Obama said – in 2004 – “There is no Blue America, or Red America, but THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”????
I was in the UK the night Obama was elected. It was awesome. We were ROCK STARS. People were thanking us on the street. Our money was no good in pubs, because everyone was buying us a round. The entire WORLD can see the awesomeness of Obama – but our culture keeps regressing to a sandbox mentality that rewards immature tantrums, illogic thinking, and ignorance. WTF is wrong with us?
Thanks Tally for this poignant reminder of what it means to support President Obama. And why we cannot afford to allow the likes of the disgruntled left distract us from what’s at stake here.
I had to LMAO at this: “Our money was no good in pubs, because everyone was buying us a round.” I woud’ve loved to be in the UK on that night!!!
Hopefruit, it was an awesome night here in the UK, we celebrated all week! There was an amazing atmosphere, everyone just seemed to be smiling – what a great time to be an Obama supporter. My friend and I went into our local shopping mall a few days after Barack’s victory, I was wearing my Obama shirt with pride and if I had a dollar for every person who commented in a positive way about it I would be very rich!!!! He is still loved greatly here only in a less exuberant way. It is an honor to support such a great man and I sincerely hope he will be re elected – he deserves to be.
I just finished weeping myself!!! We must do it again not just because it felt good but because it is pertinent that President Obama get a second term to make that positive the world desperately needs!!!
Thanks Tally for taking me back to that incredible day! I thought I was too old to cry, but I remember shading a few tears of Joy on that memorable day. I shed tears because, in all honesty, I never thought that I would be alive to witness such an event; may be my grand children, but not me. What has been so distressing is that in spite of that historical, world unifying, day there are forces that have been so determined, from day one of President Obama’s presidency, to take us back to the ugly days of the past. Down deep I am hoping that the people who rallied to elect him in the first place would be there to re-elect him.
Thanks for the link that clarified the the reason as to why WSY was shut down Chips. After reading the summary of the events, I just want to say a big TAHNK YOU Chipsticks for everything you do to make this website a hub of information and a haven where we laugh, argue, laugh, share relevant and factual information, encourage each other and continue our fight to hold the media accountable for their lies and where we unabashedly, wholeheartedly, 100% scream our love, respect, admiration and dedication to our wonderful President, First Lady, Vice President, Second Lady, and the whole Obama Administration and also where we laugh again. You do yeomans work Chips and I am grateful.
As for Pragmatic Obots Unite, I wish them the best of luck in their continued support of President Obama and their adherence to truth regarding the brilliant work his administration conducts day in day out.
UT, this is my wake up call to cherish each day I come to this beautiful site because it’s true that you don’t know what you have until it’s gone and If Chipsticks can hang on to our craziness until the election is over, I don’t care for Politics after PBO is re-elected because he is My first and my Last President I will dedicate and put my life commitments on hold for, after 2012 to Hell with the Democratic Party I have had enough with all of them.
Chipsticks, thank you for not being like Webb. 🙂 We here at TOD really really love you and respect your words and thank you for allowing us to “play fair” when disagreeing.
I feel like the kid who heard a whole bunch of noise next door….peeped over the fence and came running back into my own home where it is safe and occasionally sane.
Chipssticks, I say,”Thank you for this site which is a beautiful place to respect, respect, respect, and respect.” Thank you, Chips. I just asked some weekds ago of our TOD to lift you up in our thoughts, prayers, and meditations daily. I still ask that because I know that this site is a true haven of blessings from you. I humbly thank you so very much for all of the hard work that you do to keep this a respectful place. I hope and pray that I will never disrespect you or any TOD Family member here. HZ
Thank HZ for voicing my sentiments so well! I am a newcomer here, but I greatly value Chipstick’s dedication, as well as people like you who post inspiring comments on this site every day.
I so agree with what everyone has said. I feel so blessed to have found this place. I know all that Chips has gone thru to keep this place what it is for all of us. I too pray BWD will be back. We must stick together and continue to show respect and love for all in this family and beyond. I have enjoyed lurking at the WSY site. I will definitely go back and support them. I love the Blogroll and how it is growing. We are not a small group. Our voices will be heard and Obama will be reelected. Love you all!!!!!!
I know that all political movements are fraught with tensions and disagreements, but why does this have to happen with so much on the line? Why do so many think that they are progressives when they are playing right into the hands of the extreme right wing, doing everything they can to risk the significant progress this country is making, all because they cling to some embellished fantasy that Dennis Kucinich or Bernie Sanders can or should be elected President?
I’m so tired of the incessant and infantilizing micromanaging of this President, a man who has more than proven in no uncertain terms that he is capable of carrying out the duties of his office and his responsibilities to the American people. The expectations for him to solve problems immediately and take steps that are clearly not in his purview when faced with unprecedented resistance and destruction coming at him from all angles are so unbelievably unrealistic and beyond the absurd, which suggests to me that there is very little understanding of our legislative process or how institutions really work from a dynamic perspective. He is trying to change institutions. He is trying to change attitudes and worn out approaches. He is trying to create something befitting the times that will meet the challenges of the 21st century. True change that is deep and sustainable takes time. Sometimes decades. So it pains me to hear about the struggle at Wee See You. So glad we have our priorities clear here at TODville.
Meta, I so share your point of view. It not only pains me to see and hear so many with preconceived notions of how things should be done and ‘closed’ ears and eyes to what has actually been done, it also angers me to the core. My grandma used to say that every captain runs his ship differently; if these armchair presidents would just stand with the real president and man their oars there’s no telling how much could be accomplished. I know we don’t like to think this way here, (it’s far enough away from the election that I’ll risk it) yet I sometimes think that I don’t want the president to go through another 4 years of this kind of venomous criticism and ingratitude. However, it consoles me somewhat to know that he is not naive as to their behaviour and he is a confident and courageous individual.
Great Comment, Meta! I’ve been reflecting on the wisdom of the great African American historian John Henrike Clarke. Clarke once warned us about divisions based on ideological rigidity. He worried that Africans, and African Americans, had been out of power for so long that once they came close to threshold of being in power again they would panic and start arguing whether to cross that threshold with the right foot or the left foot. In the meantime, while they are bunched up at the gate arguing, people who always occupied power over them would regain their strength and take over once again. This is what I see happening with the likes of Cornel West and Tavis Smiley. And also of Congress people like Maxine Waters and John Conyers. This may also be the case with Mr. Webb of WSY. Instead of supporting the President, they would rather join forces with those who want us to be bogged down in arguing about the purity of the President’s progressivism. Does any one remember Tavis Smiley and Cornel West going on a “poverty” bus tour during George W. Bush’s Presidency when poverty hit the roof in the all communities, including the African American community? Does any one remember Maxine Waters going on a tour to expose George W. Bush’s for all the jobs that were being lost before President Obama took office? Do they even bother to look at the charts which shows that since the stimulus went into effect the economy has been creating more jobs instead of loosing more jobs as was the case when President Obama came into office?
What is so wrong with people who claim to be progressives and yet spend all their energy, time, and money, undermining the most progressive president in my lifetime? What is so wrong with some prominent voices–though a minority– in the African American community who are hell bent on undermining the first African American President, who is working so hard to solve the problems of the country while facing the most vile and hateful opposition than any other president in the history of the United States.
I suppose Dr. West, Tavis Smiley, Maxine Waters, John Conyers, and all the holier than thou white progressives (like Krugman, Greenwald, Hamsher, Green and Shultz) think that the country would be better off with a president Perry, or a president Romney, or a president Paul, or a president Bachmann. Thankfully there a great many of us who are determined to do everything we can to ensure that none of these right wingers win the presidency.
I am proud of the courageous people from WSY who refused to bow to the bashers of the President, and instead created a new site that does not apologize for supporting President Obama. I truly love their motto: “Pragmatic Obots Unite!” I am definitely heeding their call!
Boy! After reading this I can’t say I blame the folks at WSY for striking out on their own. If I want negativity like that, I’ll go fight with the baggers at Huffpo or Yahoo, which I have to admit, I do more often than I should.
Reading the explanation for the former WSY’s dissolution brought two main thoughts to mind.
1. The ‘angry black man’ approach is so unproductive, ineffective, alienating, and unsightly. IMO
2. Ms Chips, you are one wise chica to answer only to yourself here at TOD Place! I bless you for the realization that you are your own boss, even as I confront the truth that this is a LOT of work and you go above and beyond daily. !Muchas, muchas gracias! We don’t mind you raising the rolling pin from time to time when we forget to be affable, but WE SO NEED YOU to keep the doors open. Thanks for your smarts, and your sweat shed on PBO’s and our behalves! [Okay, better substitute ‘behalf’ as the plural looks weird and it’s really one united goal.]
IMO, it would be terrific if the pro-Obama*** blogs could ‘link arms’ and form a network of sorts leading to November 2012. A network for things like twitter campaigning (ex. # GOP obstruction-ism) using specific truthful pieces of information, research gathering, etc.
*** Have to mention that I’ve run across a couple of ‘pro-Obama’ sites with less than supportive posts, so linking arms would need to be carefully done, I guess.
That’s similar to what I just posted on another site.. where it is in our Mission Statement..that, yes, we actually do support President Obama. .
“I have this feeling that all the Pragmatic Prog sites are going to be coming together Stronger as we gear up to get the President re-Elected!” It was on a thread that linked Pragmatic Obots Unite.

Definitely, me4obama. Thanks Chipsticks for giving us the scoop on what went down.
HFS!!!
