NY Post: Following reports that President Obama phoned Warren Buffett from vacation in Martha’s Vineyard to discuss the economy, The “Oracle of Omaha” is hosting a fund-raiser for Obama’s re-election, billed as an “economic forum”.
Tickets for the event at New York’s Four Seasons restaurant on Sept. 30 start at $10,000 a head, with VIP tickets a budget-boosting $35,800.
Meanwhile:
Reuters: Warren Buffett will invest $5 billion in Bank of America, stepping in to shore up the company in the same way he helped prop up Goldman Sachs and General Electric during the financial crisis.
Bank of America shares rose 15 percent to $8.03 in early trading, erasing a large part of the stock’s August losses.

I cannot believe this stuff. I cannot believe that a full 40% of Americans vote for these guys, without question, and we have to worry about the low information ‘independents’ who can be persuaded that our government is better in their hands. And that the looney left thinks they have the luxury of sitting out elections because they didn’t get a ‘public option’ but will get non-profits in the health care mix starting in 2014.
Read this and weep:

It has to be a psychological sickness, because nothing else explains voting for Republicans unless you’re a multi-billionaire with money in foreign accounts. Even Warren Buffett doesn’t support the evil nonsense from the Republican party.
theo67 our household discusses the psychology of this frequently. Maybe it is universal…but it is disturbing to see how close minded and easily manipulated Americans are in their thinking.
Par for the course for Cantor. I’m sure this will go over well with the people in his district.
Enough to vote him out?
It just boggles the mind. Steve Benen, as usual, was spot on. They’ll start wars without paying for them, oil subsidies that we don’t pay for. But disaster relief — let’s cut a lunch program somewhere else in the country.
It’s nothing new, but there are days it just hits you.
Like I said days ago, asked to fund a war, they say sure; asked to help poor people, they say F–k you !
“Enough to vote him out?”
Probably not. They’ll say something like, “That’s our Eric” and then reelect him in a landslide. It’s their way of giving the rest of us comic relief. All I can say is thanks?
They will still vote for him. He was talking crazy before the election last year and they still voted for him.
I just sit here and shake my head. My only hope is that part of that 40% will vote differently. If they do not vote democrat, let’s hope that more moderate republicans will run against them.
Eric Cantor is a huge dirt bag with a very small, shallow brain.
As I read this article, it caused me to remember something that Mr. Cantor said about people without health insurance. If you recall, he suggested these folk seek out CHARITY! Well, in my opinion, if CHARITY is good for one group; then, it’s equally as good for the people of Virginia…especially those in his district, who do not have earthquake insurance.

Let’s get this party started!!
Hey Warren, I heard that Charles Koch said your mother wears army boots! Are you going to stand for that or donate to Bill Burtons Priorities USA SuperPAC and get all of your billionaire Dem leaning buddies to do the same?
Buffett: Why I oughta…
or
Buffett: I wonder how he knows so much about my family?
Warren – We love you!
And we WONDER why union membership keeps dropping. With friends like these, who in the hell needs a damned enemy.

This doesn’t sound right. I thought the unions just announced their endorsement and support of President Obama’s re-election campaign? Something smells fishy here.
Agreed. I went over there and read this and it seemed kind of cut and pasty to me.
REAL fishy.
If President Obama loses in 2012, the Union movement is dead. Period. Because it would also mean the GOP keeps the House and wins the Senate. America will be Wisconsin on steroids and public unions will be legislated out of existence and states will become “right to work”.
I totally agree. Unions better step up to the plate and get our Democratic president re-elected.
“Asked how Obama fell off course, Trumka explained, “I think he made a strategic mistake when he confused job crisis with the deficit crisis a number of months ago — when he would talk about job creation and then the same sentence talk about deficit reduction and people got the two confused. And he helped with that.”
Sometimes a lot can be said for having a good education. This man apparently has not. Exactly when has PBO ever relinquished discussing job creation ? This here is after just earlier this month, AFL-CIO roundly endorsed PBO for 2012. Who is this man really working for?
Sounds like he just likes to hear the sound of his own voice, no matter how unreasonable the words. I hope these union leaders don’t go to the dark side with all of their stupid commentary. We’ve got a Democratic president to re-elect! Quit criticizing him … criticize the other side, Trumka.
The President wants a huge investment in infrastructure as well as a bank to go with it and has never stopped talking about jobs.
There must be some disease that stops leaders and public officials on the left side of the aisle from paying attention to what this President says and does. Trumka knows better than that.
I know a lot of people that think Unions have spelled too much demands on businesses and have made it too hard to function. I think Unions are necessary in keeping businesses from getting too greedy and uncaring. We need livable wages as we have had in the past. I guess you could say somewhere in the middle is necessary to keep workers protected and businesses functioning. Unions can do themselves damage by being too loud and obnoxious. I have been a fan of the Union workers in WI trying to take back democracy and the American way from a strong dictatorial Governor.
Isn’t Trumka the guy who wasted all that money following Jane hamster to primary one blue dog with another in a right to work state? If the unions fall, they have only themselves to blame.
Yep. and when a scathingly honest remark about it came from Rahm, Unions and Progressives lost their minds.
There is nothing confusing about it. People would prefer a balanced approach vs the extremes of all cuts or no cuts at all. Americans really are worried about the deficit/ Obama is offering a solution to combat both joblessness and the deficit. And the way he wants to do it should not in anyway be confused with how the GOP wants to do it.
Really, do Progressives not understand the advantages of Obama snatching the mantle of “fiscal responsibility” away from the GOP while creating a new definition of the term?
This an article by ( drum roll) Brian Beutler. He always write these hair on fire headllines and then the story ends not being what that headlines saids. TPM is becoming Huffington Post 2 with the hyperbole headlines. Josh Marshall is all about the clicks. Trumuka will be backtracking his words when Obama visits Detroit to celebrate the with the unions.
This is also true. I’m not going to read the article because then I’ll be sucked into the comments.
Yes, I will not read the comment section. This is an article to attract the emoprogressives.
I feel better after reading that. Thanks.
OMG! Bite it Trumpka. That is BS. He must be living at Ed’s house. Dam, the president is speaking before the Unions on the first. I wonder if they will boo him. I am going to try to tweet that twitter head.
I tweeted Richard Trumka was a giant douchebag this morning.
“FUCK YOU TRUMKA – I’m in THREE UNIONS, and YOU ARE A DOUCHEBAG! STOP LYING! #ISUPPORTTHEPRESIDENT” with the link ^^^
I bet that Cantor would be screaming for government help had his house been damaged or destroyed in the earthquake.
He did and here is what he said, lol. I couldn’t believe it.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor assured his constituents on Wednesday that Congress “will find the monies” to assist earthquake victims in Mineral, Virginia – but the Republican lawmaker noted that “those monies will be offset with appropriate savings or cost-cutting elsewhere.”

THAT WAS SO FUCKING RIDICULOUS!!!! I heard him talk about needing FEDERAL DISASTER MONEY.
WHAT????? For a 5.8 EQ??? Why, because you BROKE A WINE GLASS?????
September will be the last month of fundraising in the third quarter, with results needing to be published by October 15th. President Obama’s campaign said they’ll likely miss targets because they had to cancel 10 fundraisers during the debt ceiling negotiations. They’ll need at least $100M raised during Q3 and that will be very tough to get unless they greatly expand the small donor base. A lot of the Q2 80M came from maxed out mega donors who can’t then donate again for the rest of the campaign.
Well, Warren Buffett’s fundraiser will help, then.
What? They reported that 98% of those donors were $200 or under. Not sure why you’d want to spread worry around with a false statement, especially considering President Obama’s #s for this stage of a campaign are completely obliterating anyone’s fundraising #s for this stage in history, including his own #s from the last Presidential election.
Considering there will be no massive primary fight, as there was with Edwards and Clinton last time, and all the money will be concentrated to him, I don’t think money will be an issue at all for President Barack Hussein Obama.
It’s all about the ground game anyway, and even with that they’re so far ahead of the last campaign. OFA was a fledgling organization just getting up and running then, and now it’s running on all cylinders. Regardless of the fundraising #s, we KNOW the MegaMedia seek to distort them anyway in attempts to depress President Obama’s supporters, so let’s just ignore them and to work with the REAL work needed to win in a landslide once again.
This is one supporter they will NOT be successful in depressing. Sent my monthly donation last week. 🙂

What freedom looks like …. thank you President Obama!
Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!
Joe “You Lie” Wilson is in the hospital with possible Lyme Disease.
Like I always do whenever some fucker says something horrible about the President;I look towards the sky and say take care of it . . .
I hope he gets well, but somehow with the news, Screamin Jay Hawkins comes into mind.
love. that. song.
Depends on how quickly you catch it. If you have the “target” bite reaction and go to the doctors right away and get the antibiotics I don’t believe you’re really in any danger. If you wait or don’t get it treated and it crosses over into your blood than it’s a long term issue.
Good thing he has that gubment helfcare.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
JoJo, you better be coming to mah show. 😀
OBAMACARES will cure Mr. Wilson with whatever affliction comes his way.
I just find it very fascinating that folks who go out of their way to tear down PBO, always end up having some calamity befall them. Mark Sanford, Anthony Weiner, etc. Coincidence, or something greater at play? You be the judge.
Yet so many left to fall. Biding my time…. !
Lyme’s Disease can scramble your brains….perhaps Joe has been suffering from this, although undetected, for a long time. I want to wish him all that he deserves…..
Fred I like your strategy….:D
But can these polls really be accurate? Remember these same pollsters said Hillary Clinton was going to beat Barack Obama. We have 14 long months to go so anything can happen…..BUT….imo these guys are propped up to fail by the media. Perry for example is a ‘newby’ so he gets a jump at the polls…and who really are they polling? Remember Donald Trump was outpacing them all and where is he at now? In the Trump Dump!
So I wouldn’t take all this polling data to heart. What really counts is getting people to the polls to reelect the best president I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. 🙂
HELP! Would someone PLEASE repost the info Chips gave re clearing your ??/cookies? I’m feeling bold or desperate enough to folllow the steps as I’m still getting that white video space on certain posts. I tried finding it myself but was unsuccessful. Please take pity on a poor technology-IGNORANT sibling and don’t rag me too much. :red:
See, I can’t even remember the symbol for embarrassment, but I am embarrassed. 😦
Don’t panic VC!!!
What browser are you using?
Do you have it updated to the latest version?
Internet Explorer, version 8 – Haven’at a clue if this is the latest version or not, but sure hope it is.
ps Chips, I had to ask for help to even find out this little piece of information. Before that I was going to ask you to speak in English.
Sorry for popping in and out, but this is the story of my life since I acquired by young guest who can be quite ‘clingy’. The only time I feel ‘free’ is when he goes to sleep and by then most of the action here is winding down AND I’m too busy trying to catch up AND too sleepy to add anything worth reading. 😦
“Before that I was going to ask you to speak in English.”
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
Okay, I might need help from other Internet Explorers here, but as far as I can make out you don’t have the latest version, which looks to be IE9.
If you go here you can update to IE9
Or, IE users, is there an easier way of updating for vcprez??
Unfortunately, lots of IE users seem to be having trouble with the blog – needless to say, I have no clue why! WordPress recommend using the Firefox browser for their blogs (you can download it here), but that hasn’t been perfect either.
Try updating IE and see if that makes any difference. Let me know how you get on 😉
Okay, thanks Chips. I’m going to take a deep breath and try the IE9 update. The Firefox browser suggests me trying to CHANGE from one browser to another, and that, Dear Chips, is too complicated a technological manoeuvre pour moi! Maybe in another decade?
You’re welcome VC! I wouldn’t worry too much about the Firefox suggestion, I use two different browsers all the time (Firefox and Safari), so you won’t have to replace IE, you can switch between it and Firefox – but if there are any techy geniuses out there please give VC better advice than this!
Technology Doofus again! I managed to download IE9 and checked the blog again and the white spaces were still there, so since the laptap can accommodate the two browsers, and since I’m feeling somewhat successful I’m off to download the Firefox thingy. I truly appreciate you taking precious time to walk with me on this. I owe you one ……..MORE! 😆 Off I go on my adventure!
Oh flip, sorry that didn’t work VC – I’ve been showering WordPress Support with requests for help on these problems but the really, really helpful guy in there seems to have disappeared, any replies I’ve got haven’t been helpful at all. Give Firefox a try and update me!
Yippee! Ya-hooooooo! 😆 😆 Firefox worked! White spaces are history! Can you see me dancing around? We-l-l-lll, TRYING to dance around? This time I’m off to watch those videso I couldn’t see before. Mmmm, SMACK, Chips Chica! That’s just my big friendly kiss of appreciation, I’m sooooo happy! La-la-la-la. [Good thing you can’t really hear or see me! I’m the one my very young ‘musical’ son used to nudge in churhc and whisper ‘That’s not what they’re singing, Mommy’.
ps. Did you scare away that super helpful WordPress Support guy by being ‘too needy’? 😉 😉 Tut. Tut. Tut
Hey, Chipsticks, I think my last ‘Thank you’ reply went into moderation, or into cyberspace. I was dancing around with glee that Firefox DID work, went to give little guy a requested snack, then came back to enjoy my previously white squared videos only to notice that my reply wasn’t there! So in case you did miss it, {SMACK} and thank you! Reading will be so much more meaningful for me now . 😆 😆
Whooooooooooo hooooooooooo!!!!! Just found you in the pending queue and released you in to the wild! Thrilled Firefox works for you, although I still have NO idea why IE has so many problems with this blog?! Delighted to help vcprez 😉
fucker please give Gabby Giffords a call to discuss getting shot at 🙄
