Looks like CBS has joined the Cable news networks (FOX, CNN, MSNBC) to pathetically DECEIVE the public. Guys we might only have ABC left for objective reporting. NBC is the parent company of MSNBC. They want Romney or Perry in the Whitehouse. PBO’s numbers are already way down now they are trying to sink him further. They do not want his BIG JOBS PLAN to gain any traction with the public when he presents it to the nation in early Sept.

This travesty of reporting (lies about the responsibility for the national debt) is a pre-emptive strike to diminish the impact of PBO’s Jobs Plan announcement. This is getting ugly folks. KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!! Obama/Biden 2012!!

ABC doesn’t do objective reporting. All the non cable stations have pretty much become the sister equivalent of the cable stations. They followed the cable stations in reporting the false piece of crap Politico hitpiece that President Obama was going to use dogwhistle politics when campaigning against Romney. There are only a few trusted media voices left.

I don’t watch the MSM, because they ALL deliberately report misinformation without verification, remember the Arizona shootings back in January? Virtually everyone was reporting that Gabrielle Giffords had died before it was actually verified that she was alive.

And then they continue to deliberately report misinformation about everything that President Obama has done. From ObamaCares to the stimulus to the bank reform legislation, the media reports whatever talking points the RW are parroting as gospel. We have a fraction of the nation believing that Obama is a communist/Marxist/Socialist foreign born, we have people believing he is out to gut Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security, we have people regurgitating outright LIES, and the MSM is complicit because these folks don’t know any better than to actually do research.

Also, during newscasts, we have these “newscasters” reporting what goes on with the Obama administration and throwing in their opinion. If they want to weigh in fine, but get your own opinion show, and you can rant and rave about how much Obama is either a corporatist sellout or a communist socialist. I’ve had it with these fake news shows that are actually opinion shows.

I believed at one time that the MSM was plain lazy in their reporting ,but what the MSM does is exactly what they are supposed to do,assist the corporations in bring down BHO.The MSM puts out out right lies and distortions on anything having to do with the President and they are just getting started, it is going to get real ugly .I don’t watch any tv news at all, I do read the blogs and counter lies by posting the postive information I find on the President.
ALEC / Koch has been at this a long time ,thru several presidents, but PBO is a different kind of President so they are throwing every thing at him. PBO is up against a multi-headed very rich beast. Yet PBO has out smarted them domestically and internationally in areas ALEC/ KOCH have no control over,as in the killing of BL and what is happening in Libya.
I just learned from a list some one posted, that my insurance company is associated with and supports ALEC/Koch so I will now be switching my insurance co. All in all I’m not discouraged because PBO is a very strong smart President ,we just need to continue to support him.

Keith , try not to be overwhelmed. We need to both push back against the medias misinformation stream, and advance factual information that supports this administrations very solid and progressive track record. The 111th Congress was nothing to sneeze at….the 112th well the Republicans can answer for most of it’s lack of productivity.

Romney the ultimate flip flopper has what to stand on? People should start trending the topic of his stalking and pushing the record of his governorship. 47th in job creation doesn’t leave him much room for talk…do ya think.

Don’t let it get you down, just let it revitalize your efforts on behalf of President Obama. Maybe today everyone should consider a donation, even a small one (which sadly is what I can offer today…I went overboard in July/August if there is such a thing) to our President’s campaign chest.

Hey, I just wanted to say, I also have times when I feel as if we are swimming upstream and going against all odds. Just can’t submit to that. We have too much going for us to allow it to beat us down. Never give up HOPE!

            Chips I don’t watch MSM. I get all my news from the internet. It is a fair and factual statement that I don’t know how they are reporting, sorry to disappoint. I am not one of the supports that study the MSM and bring back their DIATRIBE to the internet message boards. I just can’t do it. So patients my dear. :wink;

      • August 23, 2011 at 4:52 pm

And let’s not forget–the MSM is doing the Irish jig over ONE poll. There are others that show different numbers.

Steve Benen said it best–at this point, the horse-race polling this far out from the election is stupid. But that doesn’t mean we should get complacent either.

    • August 23, 2011 at 9:55 pm

Keith, I read your comment earlier and did not know how to respond. There is a helpless feeling some of us get because we understand the game is loaded. It is going to be a very rough election. It seems unfortunate that some on the far left are willing to throw PBO under the bus, but we must continue our fight. If somehow we lose, we know that PBO is a hero and will continue to do great things in this world.

BUT, We do have to fight. It is important to the survival of this country.

As disgusting as Mitt Romney’s journey to the nomination has been his campaign tactics obviously appear to be working. He is up in national polls now over President Obama. At least that is what Gallup says. PUSH BACK is our only recourse. The Obama campaign better recognize how Mittens is practically MORPHED himself into a FAKE PBO. SHAMEFULLY DISGUSTING!!!

Keith, there is only one President Barack Obama. I am not worried about Mitty. Plus I am not worried about polls at this moment. President Obama has work to do,and I plan to move forward with him in doing it. So the gloom stuff is not going to work with his supporters. Let us focus and keep our eyes on the good that is taking place right now in the world, and thank the President of the United States, Barack Obama. Let’s be calm, okay. We have trust in our capable President and in our hard work to get this done. Mit is not a threat to us. We choose to make him one in our minds. Let’s deal with the facts. Polls come and go. The President has his poll people as well. When David Plouffe and Axelrod start showing us worry, we will do just that. Until then, relax and put on your grateful hat today and enjoy the progress for the people in Libya. Okay. Love you very much Keith.

National polls don’t matter, the state-by-state ones do, and President Obama is absolutely shellacking every (R) in state by state polls.

The Gallup poll is meant to drive the meme for the media that “ZOOOOOOOOMG! Obama has lost his base!” and all that. I haven’t paid attention to polls and don’t intend to… remember, it was the polls in 2007 that showed that the 2008 election would be a race between Hillary and Rudy, was that the case?

      • 54 prettyfoot58
        August 23, 2011 at 4:22 pm

Gallup has lost their credibility with me… they questioned why the President’s numbers were not lower than they were….and then came the next polling cycle…POWWW!!..they were lower…Ummm Hmmm

      • August 23, 2011 at 5:04 pm

        Yup. This, right here.

I mean…the election is next November. Kind of stupid to fall apart over polls now, right?

I remember in 1999-early 2000 when the press was falling all over themselves with the belief that Bush was going to pound Gore into a fine powder with a massive landslide victory. And guess what–Gore won the popular vote, and it was only the imbroglio in Florida, plus Nader’s kamikaze, anti-Gore nonsense campaign that cost him. Oh, and the Felonious Five in the Supreme Court.

Keith, take heart! Please see my reply to your initial comment on the Mark Knoller thread 🙂

    • August 23, 2011 at 12:16 pm

There are going to be an avalanche of polls between now and November 2012. You have to bear in mind that this is a cottage industry. There’s a new one every single day and we haven’t even gotten into campaign season. So the best we can do is look at long term trends rather than the tick tock of each one as we get barraged by them from now until the election. And when PBO is reelected, they will continue unabated. It’s gross.

    • 58 ChristiMtl
      August 23, 2011 at 12:18 pm

      From Gallup’s writeup:

In August 1999, Texas Gov. George W. Bush led Vice President Al Gore by 55% to 41% in a Gallup trial heat poll. That race ended up in a virtual dead heat, with Gore ultimately winning slightly more of the national popular vote than Bush.

In August 1995, Kansas Sen. Bob Dole was slightly ahead of President Bill Clinton in a Gallup poll, 48% to 46%. On Election Day 1996, Clinton beat Dole by eight points.

In August 1983, President Ronald Reagan was ahead of Democrat Walter Mondale by only one point, 44% to 43%. Reagan went on to beat Mondale in a 59% to 41% landslide in the November 1984 election.

In August 1979, incumbent President Jimmy Carter was tied with former California Gov. Reagan — each getting 45% of the vote. Reagan ultimately defeated Carter by 10 points.

      • August 23, 2011 at 1:48 pm

In other words, Christi, polls this far out mean nothing. Multiple variables affect a poll in any given moment–who was polled, what age, time of day, day of the week (get mostly seniors on weekends), mood of the moment, etc., etc. As Steve Benen said, considering that the president is out of the spotlight, considering what’s happening this summer, considering the absolutely hostile media, and considering number of kitchen sinks thrown his way, he’s doing pretty well.

Just back away from the polls Keith. Just. Back. Away. I can guarantee you that the polls will look horrible from here on in. Ever since they interviewed that Rasmussen fellow who was trying to figure out why Pres Obama was still polling well after all the crap they throw at him. The very next poll had the president down after being way up. All that means is they’ve figured out a way to manipulate it. So now these polls mean nothing! Count on the polls saying what they want it to say and PLEASE just back away from them.

The sculpture in front of the compound is just chilling……….

The Fist Crushing a U.S. Fighter Plane Sculpture, a gold-coloured piece of public art, is located at the Bab al-Azizia compound in the Libyan capital of Tripoli. The sculpture was commissioned by the nation’s leader, Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi following the 1986 bombing of Libya by United States aircraft.[1]

During the 2011 Libyan civil war, the sculpture was frequently noted in media coverage of televised speeches given by Gaddafi on 22 February and 20 March 2011, in which he vowed to “die a martyr” to prevent anti-government rebels prevailing.[2]

On August 23, at the height of the Battle of Tripoli rebels breached the Bab al-Azizia compound and Sky News broadcast pictures of rebels gathered around the statue, with one fighter having climbed onto it.[3]

“I think this is a tremendous achievement,” said James Steinberg, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s recently departed deputy secretary of State, who is now dean of the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. “The biggest factor to date is the fact that we [Americans] have not been the problem. People aren’t saying the Americans are trying to do regime change. Whether in Tunisia or Libya or Egypt, we are seen as supportive of others. It’s an obvious contrast with the previous administration…. And the fact that tyrants are not able to rally their people against us shows the nuance and skill of this. It’s working.”

Senator McCain and Senator Graham know that but they will never admit it. Instead they look like fools trying to pretend that President Obama has not handled the Arab Spring properly. Their hypocrisy is just breathtaking.

To think that people like Glenn Greenwald have been saying since the beginning that President Obama =Bush or is worst than Bush.

        It’s so disgustingly false.

I didn’t see americans flags set on fire, which we saw so often during the Bush years, of effigy of Bush burning.

President Obama is a brilliant leader.

        The world needs him….

…There were times when the United States and Europe should have committed more assets. But Mr. Obama made the right decision to let Europe take the lead.

Libya will need even more support as well as vigilant monitoring and likely frequent goading in the months ahead. The challenges of building a stable and representative new country cannot be overstated…..

I am glad the NYT acknowledged the President made the right choice, but they could have left out the part about committing more assets. The paper of record that helped lead the media and the country into a war with Iraq has no business offering any foreign policy advice, period.

This is NOT good news for Gaddafi’s good friend, John McCain:

So Ronnie Raygun tried to get him and missed. Because of Raygun’s failure, Gaddafi in retaliation orchestrates the Lockerbie bombing and becomes a multi-billionaire.

Fast forward a few years, King Bush the 2nd and many of the current Repubs in DeeCee decide to prop up and promote this clearly deranged murderer once again, using taxpayer money by the way. So much so that Gaddafi was invited to a G8 Summit resulting in President Obama having to shake his hand at a photo-op (a current Repub deception by the way…they’re falsely comparing a forced 5 second moment to those Repubs flying to Tripoli to meet privately and the resulting Repub praise of Gaddafi).

President Barack Hussein Obama gives a speech in Cairo just 2 years ago where he clearly is saying to the average person in the Middle East, “If you decide to try and overthrow your brutal dictators, we got your back.” Dominoes are falling all over the Middle East all to the cost of about 1-2 days of the Republican Invasion and Occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The MegaMedia essentially ignores all the above, and chooses instead to promote the idea that President Obama is “weak” and “in over his head” still…you know, the President that got Osama bin Laden (does the general public even remember this by now?).

Imagine what our President could do with an actual Congress instead of these BigMoney infiltrators currently in Congress? Let’s get out there and get our guy the Congressional support he needs! Democrats in 2012!

Doris – I was upstairs watching the Libyan action on BBC and was like what the “heck” is that???? Went down the hallway calling my son and his office door was shaking off the hinges and the door was closed. Then I thought, did someone break into the house? Then I heard like windows breaking, the floors shook under my feet, the walls were vibrating around me and pushing inward so I grabbed my kid and we hauled a*s down the stairs. I took him outdoors until it stopped. Still didn’t realize it was an earthquake. Thought the house was about to blow up or something. Went back inside to check the basement to make sure something wasn’t faulty and that no one broke into the house our something.

Don’t ask me why I went back in but . . . I always do things like that anyway, still didn’t know it was a quake and called my spouse who said the same thing happened in VA and everyone was outside. Then the siblings called and said they were checking in from Greenbelt area wanted to make sure we were fine, I am by the Naval Academy and my co-workers from the Bethesda area checked in saying they were fine..

I still couldn’t process that it was an earthquake until another coworker called from California laughing because we had what is considered a “little” earth quake.

CONCORD, NH (The Borowitz Report) – The mystery surrounding Col. Muammar Gaddafi’s whereabouts was resolved today as the dictator announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in a town hall meeting in Concord, New Hampshire.
In announcing his candidacy, the Libyan madman joins a Republican field which is believed to number in excess of seven hundred candidates….more…“Unfortunately for Muammar Gaddafi, he might be out of step with the current crop of Republican candidates,” one pollster said. “There’s a perception that he’s too moderate.”

          • August 23, 2011 at 5:37 pm

Sue , I am in total agreement with your thoughts on this issue. I just saw something that was so disgusting to my eyes, and that was a look of total hate, jealousy, and envy. These are awful things for this President to have to endure each day, but thank God that President Obama’s inner strength daily is kept together by his faith, his good deeds, his love and compassion for doing what is right and fair for humankind. I also think that we here at TOD along with his many true supporters and dear friends, and of course our First Lady and First Daughters keep him grounded. He knows that there is a remanant of supporters who will have his back in all of this vile cesspool. That is why we thank Chipsticks for giving us the opportunity to come here and get facts, share facts, interact in great and honest conversations, share in great commentaries and respond with respect. If we keep our ears to the heart of this President, and move our feet to the path of clear directions as much as humanly possible, and carry out faith, meditations, quiet moments of thanksgiving in the form of whatever spiritual grace that we carry with us daily, we will get through all of this. But we have to pray hard when we see the evil, the lies, the hatred, and do with our good and decent actions what is appropriate and good for the sake of respect for ourselves and our wonderful hardworking President. This must be one of our most important task in the coming months ahead. I love you all very much in the TOD Family.HZ

One would think that at troubled times, albeit minor for now, souls would remember their mortality and be beholden to the God who made us all, i.e., not spread lies and animous. Not here in America. The racism and bigotry, jealousy and envy is so deep that they are oblivious to the danger we all face when we carry putrid thoughts and feelings in our minds and hearts.

It was tough trying to get in to work in San Fran for a while after that. It’s very scarey to experience a quake and sometimes hard to get over the aftermath, especially when you’re not living in quake country. Hope that all are okay. Prayers go out for limited aftershocks.
