a word from tally: dearest PL/EmoProgs everywhere

Dearest PL/EmoProgs everywhere…..

President Obama is just like the GOP??
uhm yeah… because…. Republicans are all for:

 – Lifting the ban on stem cell research

– Ending DADT

– the ACA (which will lead to the end of for-profit health care and usher in Single Payer when the Non-Profits come online in 2014 IF WE DON’T FUCK IT UP AND ALLOW MORE GOP INTO OFFICE.)

– START Treaty

– NOT Privatizing Social Security, Medicare, & Medicade

– Ending the Bush tax cuts

– Creating infrastructure jobs – IN AMERICA

– Cutting defense spending with the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act

– Trying to close GITMO (even though only 6 dems voted to close it)

– Credit Card Bill of Rights

– $4.6 Billion to the VA

– More funding for Violence Against Women Act

– Beginning the lift on the Cuba embargo

– Getting banks out of the college loan business

– 10% more funding for National Parks (til the GOP killed it and insisted on Program [aka JOB] cuts)

– Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act

– Creating the nation’s first Chief Technology Officer

– Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

– Financial Reform Law

– Closing the Medicare D gap

– More funding for Individuals With Disabilities Education Act

– Extending Benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees

– Appointing more openly gay officials than any POTUS

– American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (which we now need on steroids)

– Creating more private sector jobs in 2010 (IN THE USA) than during entire Bush years

– First Latina on the SCOTUS

– Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (FDA regulation of Tobacco – you mean it wasn’t before??? WTF???)

– Increasing average fuel economy standards

– Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act

– Getting families to DOVER

recovery.gov

– Children’s Health Insurance Reauthorization Act

– Killed Bin Laden (instead of making deals with him)

– Taking down Gaddafi (instead of making deals with him)

There’s more, but there are only so many hours in a day, and I’ve got other things to DO.

And all in the face of RECORD OBSTRUCTION & FILIBUSTERING because ****WE FAILED**** TO SEND A PROGRESSIVE ARMY to DC to STAND BY THE POTUS, and HAVE HIS BACK.

Of course, everything above AND MORE will be overturned the second that President Perry or Bachmann gets into office, INCLUDING AT LEAST THREE MORE SCOTUS APPOINTMENTS – but by all means, stay home and whine 24/7 about how Obama isn’t President Superfly, because GETTING MAD worked for GHANDI, MLK, and NELSON MANDELA. NONE of whom were President of the United States, weren’t faced with a dishonest media, a certifiably insane opposition who complain when their children are taught science instead of creationism, and e-voting fraud on an epic scale.

Now if we could only be like Canada and outlaw newscasters lying.

I sure hope that Clarence Thomas is gone before he can rule the healthcare law, Obama Cares, unconstitutional, Tally. I really, really do not like that guy. Read an article about him by Jeffrey Toobin today that scared the shit out of me.

And Kennedy. Can you imagine how we could change the direction of the Court if we could replace Kennedy?

And as a sobering thought — what evils will be unleashed on this country over the next two generations if any of these Justices are replaced with the right wing hacks in the Bush mold? Truly — God help this great nation.

No bleed of the fingers, but I promise to wear comfortable shoes for my sake and my cardiologist’s approval. • August 22, 2011 at 9:10 pm

Whining (emo/emotional) Progressives, who complain that they did not elect President John Shaft, and didn’t receive a perfect progressive unicorn that shits rainbows on Jan 21st, 2009.

        • 33 utaustinliberal
          August 22, 2011 at 9:16 pm

Emoprogs means Emoprogressives. In the rock/punk world, emo people are normally teenagers(or some young adults) who dress in all black or mix it up with colors like neon red, neon pink ,neon green, act all depressed, wear heavy goth like makeup with dark eyeliner and have a constant woe is me attitude even when their life is 100% perfect. They’re overly emotional, never satisfied with ANYTHING, wishy washy, and irritating. So the same concept was applied to a certain group of progressives who are NEVER satisfied with anything President Obama does. One minute they support him, next minute they bash him. They’re always woe is me. I voted for President Obama but he’s not an extreme lefty. He hasn’t done this and that and this and that and this and that. You get my drift: Emoprogs.

OT: In one of my online subscriptions which I just opened this evening, there was an article stating that a high Republican operative in Iowa has stated that Sarah Palin will enter the presidential race by the end of September. He also stated that she will win. I’m sorry that I can’t give you a link because I deleted it. In the article, it is stated that when Palin was leaving the fair, she told her audience, “I’ll see you in September.”

I figure Palin wants to get in as late as possible sort of like in the VP run so she doesn’t have to do too many debates and can dodge the press for hardline questions. She wants the others to be examined and fail so she can step in as the saving candidate. Remember when she would hide from the press after making the mistakes with Katie Curick?

…any other ‘a’ words we can insert to trash her acronym?

I abhor her, I don’t want Americans to be subjected to her for even a nano second…I ‘ld like to see her whisked away in a straight jacket, to a secure but remote mental facility where they can attempt to locate her humanity. Brain transplant?, maybe a heart transplant while they are at it….because if she has one, it is rotten. I’m thinking she doesn’t, just an empty dark hole.

he may or may not have been arrested. But taking my cues from the President’s two statements, the details of the sons do not seem to be of particular importance in the grand scheme of things. If you notice, Obama never mentioned them in any of his statements, so I think the media made a much bigger deal of this issue.

Weii I read the full Ryan Lizza article that Smartypants’ piece was based on. it was an attempted at a sophisticated hitpiece. These are the comments I posted at Smartypants’ site:

It is ironic that Ryan Lizza published that piece on May 2, the day after bin Laden’s killing. The entire piece reads as a hit piece on President Obama’s leadership style. He truly sucked up to Hillary Clinton. In this entire lengthy piece he could not find a single person who firmly argued the President’s position on anything?

First it was Bill Clinton’s snide comment re Holbrooke, then it was the latter’s widow’s negative comments, then it was Wisner, then, the State Dept aide who resigned, then Brzezinski’s disappointment. So why did Lizza bother writing about a President’s whose foreign policy reasoning he was uninterested in discovering?

Well as Karma would have it, much of Lizza’s griping became moot the day the article came out. And it is even more damning that the paper and article went to bed before the bin Laden bombshell, so no chance to revise anything in this hit piece. And here we have it; a beltway shallow name-dropping diatribe masquerading as analysis!

      • 105 Chi
        August 23, 2011 at 5:01 am

        Absolutely spot on zizi…

I read Ryan Lizza’s very muddled-up attempt at a hit piece which failed miserably…

Contradictions abound in this very holey and incoherent piece by Lizza…

Ryan sure seems to have what is suspiciously unfettered access to hostile, anti-President Obama anonymous State Department sources and to Hillary Clinton too…

Try as he may, he fails to make any sense even as he dismisses and trivializes every action, thought, word, deed of President Obama’s from childhood to Presidency…

He ascribes political motives to every single waking moment in President Obama’s life and every action from birth…

He is condescending and demeaning and dismissive sprinkling the article with key words like ‘part-time’, ‘forgettable’, ‘coasted’, ‘lacking’, ‘provincial’…

In the same breath, he enthuses as he embellishes and exaggerates the every trivial and inconsequential piece of minutiae he can get his hands on where everyone else is concerned…

He does this in particular with Hillary…

But it is indeed rather amusing how he twists himself in a pretzel contradicting himself…

In one breath, the very accomplished Pulitzer prize winning Samantha Power leaves her Harvard job for some strange reason to go work in the office of this very unimpressive/inconsequential fledgling Senator Lizza writes about…

“…After reading “A Problem from Hell,” Obama invited Power to dinner. He said he wanted to talk about foreign policy. The meal lasted four hours. As a fledgling member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and an ambitious politician with his sights set on higher office, Obama agreed to have Power spend a year in his office as a foreign-policy fellow…”

Obama the ‘fledgling’ Senator ‘agreed’ to have her in his office as foreign-policy fellow…? Really…a fledgling Senator pulled that off simply by being ‘politically ambitious’…

If only that is what it takes Mr. Lizza…

The most telling part of this extremely poor attempt to diminish President Obama…? The glaringly contradictory story lines on the late Richard Holbrooke…

“…Holbrooke had been a devoted supporter of Hillary Clinton during the Presidential campaign, and she protected him from Obama aides who viewed with suspicion his sizable ego and stream of positive press clippings. When a top official at the White House tried to push Holbrooke out, in early 2010, Clinton intervened on his behalf. But Holbrooke still could not get a one-on-one meeting with the President…

“… And at the crucial national-security meetings on Afghanistan Clinton did not adopt Holbrooke’s views. She sided with Gates and the generals in calling for the maximum number of soldiers to surge into Afghanistan. Obama agreed to send thirty thousand more troops, although he insisted that they would start coming home in July, 2011. Holbrooke’s widow, the writer Kati Marton, who has been reviewing her husband’s memos and archives, told me that they “tell a dramatic story of a fractured relationship between the State Department and White House…”

“…On December 11, 2010, while meeting with Clinton at the State Department, Holbrooke suffered a split aorta, and he died forty-eight hours later. Bill Clinton spoke at Holbrooke’s memorial service, held on January 14th at the Kennedy Center. “I loved the guy—because he could do,” Clinton said. “Doing in diplomacy saves lives.” He went on, “And I never did understand how people would let a little rough edges, which to me was so obvious what he was doing, it was so obvious why he felt the way he did—I could never understand people who didn’t appreciate him.”

“… Several people told Marton they thought that Bill Clinton was sending a message to Obama…”

If anyone understands any of this, please do explain how President Obama gets blamed for Hillary Clinton siding *with* Bob Gates on a very crucial matter *against* the same sagely Holbrooke she tried to ‘protect’ from President Obama…

Ryan Lizza’s intentions in this weak, rambling screed are so obvious and his motives, glaring…

But to understand for whom he works and on whose behalf he attacks President Obama, one need not look further than his sources for this hit piece – which in true Karmic spirit, literally falls apart not only from its incoherence and many contradictions, but the subsequent unfolding of political events he incorrectly calls…

        How embarrassing for Ryan…

        Even more embarrassing…?

        Invoking and quoting Anne-Marie Slaughter…

Effusively wheezing on about and attempting to cast this dyed in the wool, self-aggrandizing, Iraq war cheer-leading PUMA as some conscious,high-minded, compassionate liberal humanitarian is simply laughable,.. to say the very least…

Thank you, your analysis is very intresting. Two things……1, Bill Clinton needs to take his fat ego and stay out of all of this. He seems to like to stir things up, and it seems to be motivated by his self-aggrandizing emotional needs. His stature continues to shrink in my eyes, and it is precisely because his ego can not seem to get out of the way. 2. It is interesting to observe all the oversized egos, competing for affirmation. President Obama seems to have the affect of making these “egos” come unglued. Which I am thinking is a very good thing , makes it easier to deconstruct the thinking and the power centers of the status quo, makes it easier to clear the way for new thinking, new energy and new direction. People continue to underestimate our President. Bad move.

I watched several interviews Rachel Maddow conducted with Richard Holbrook, I never saw any cracks in his working relationship with the President, or anything less than total support and cooperation with our CiC. If he had issues with PBO he kept them close to his vest.

Well done Tally!!! This needs to be spread far and wide!!! I am sick and tired of the nonsense form those who have infiltrated the Dem. party pretending to be our “progressive” voices but are only there to destroy the party from within!!!
When I hear the same people who keep screaming that President Obama is “not progressive enough” for them, but gush at how “moderate and reasonable” the Koch-sucking Jon Huntsman is, I want to break something!!!

That is all you need to know about these “progressives”!!! They are anything but and are wolf in wolf clothing!!! They are exactly what they have represented themselves to be, dishonest, underhanded, selfserving, opportunistic, childish, narcissistic anarchists!!! We will defeat them all!!!

    YES WE CAN!!! Obama/Biden 2012!!!

Every week day eve at 7pm PST, I turn to MSNBC online to catch Rev Al, but lately I’ve also been viewing and enjoying Melissa Harris-Perry on The Last Word. She has done a fantastic job during LOD’s period of bereavement and I hope we let MSNBC hear that she deserves a slot too. I sent them an email saying how much I enjoyed her and her guests.

I wish she would stop elevating the GOP and their fake candidates though!!! Yesterday, sarah Palin, today, Jon Huntsman!!!
It is so intellectually DISHONEST to pretend that a group of people who have cdriven our country to the brink and continue to obstruct progress are somehow necessary for a “healthy” 2 party system for our country!!! puleeezz!!!

      • August 23, 2011 at 12:53 am

i don’t know about that. Huntsman is the sanest of the bunch and is talking straight-up. We must be careful. Imho anybody but Huntsman otherwise the fight for the independent vote will be like jungle warfare.

          August 23, 2011 at 3:30 am

Sane is a very relative term dear friend…

And the straight-up talk you reference is simply a wobbly strategy his handlers are test-driving to see if his single digit poll numbers can be improved…

In other words, this is simply a cynical attempt at standing out from the crowded field…

In the end however, truth is Huntsman is no different from the pack…

Difference is only in the newly-debuted stinky/rotten indiscernible thingy wrapped in left-over, fragrant, shiny wrapping-paper…

If you haven’t yet noticed, Huntsman says a whole lot of nothing, speaking very vaguely in broad general terms and offering absolutely no specifics or stand on anything…

Any Independent who falls for that, has other reasons besides policy, strength, results and character for not voting for President Obama…

And those Independents were never there to begin with…

To anyone who might be interested to see why Jack Layton was so loved in Canada.

Here a short 5 minutes tribute. State funeral on Saturday. It’s so incredibly sad, our hearts are heavy.

Oh damn. Didn’t know he was sick.

I always remember Layton since several years back, when I was working in Toronto for a bit, his official campaign literature around town had photos of him with prominent images of marijuana leaves in the background. He was proudly promoting the fact that he wanted it legalized.

My Canadian friends (extreme Liberals) have absolutely loved Layton and appreciated his pragmatism while remaining true to his Liberal ideals at the same time, like a certain someone we know here. Layton was a great admirer of President Barack Obama and had a very similar approach to politics. Very, very sad loss for all of humankind, but let’s all remember what this great Liberal’s last statement says:

“My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.”

Another letter writing campaign that HZ has reminded us of, and I hope people are engaging in….the back log of judicial appointments to our Federal courts, wasting tax payer dollars and creatiing unnecessary stress on the functioning of our judicial system. Please consider writing members of the Senate Judiary Committee, Chairman Patrick Leahy, Majority Leader Reid, and Minority Leader Turtle McConnell.
On the Republican side, some of our ‘favorites’ 😉 Jeff Sessions, Lindsey Graham, Chuck Grassley, Jon Kyl, Orrin Hatch, Tom Coburn..racist wimp, John Cornyn, et al. We
should not be tolerating these Republicans games of interference with the functioning of OUR Government. Enough!

With all that’s happened in Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Libya, the historic uprisings in Isreal, and so on, I just decided to re-read President Barack Hussein Obama’s “Cairo Speech” and I’m literally having trouble reading it through the tears in my eyes:

    Click to access obama_cairo_speech.pdf

The nuance, wisdom, and call-to-action within this Great Man is truly mind-boggling. American President Barack Hussein Obama delivered those words just about 2 years….2 YEARS AGO…and all this HAS happened, and CONTINUES to happen in a region that hasn’t seen much progress for the general people in several generations. That speech is directly connected to what’s happening now, and directly connected to the fact that Muslims are holding American flags and holding up signs right in the heat of their history-making moments.

I now feel President Barack Hussein Obama’s Cairo Speech now belongs in the pantheon of the WORLD’S great speeches. It directly helped these events get started, and I think we’re just seeing the beginning. Un. Believe. Able. We are watching history right before our eyes, people. Let’s appreciate this and get to work for the 2012 elections. We have got to get back the House and strengthen the Senate to help this incredible man achieve even more greatness in our short times on this Earth.

Praise God thatI was able to read this before retiring tonight — What a rationale Humkan being you are !! Thank you for assembling this inclusive TALLY of things accompliisihed — against those horrible odds. Perhaps some of those who simple don’t understand will begin to see through the fog created by the “republican boener bone-heads”.

Too tired to go any further but I thank you for bringing this list to the forefront for those that overlook the hard work and hear only “fow foolishness”.

I am 75 and holding; remembering that Prayer still changes things and with enough hard work and continued support to writers like you — it will also change the minds of some People.
    Thanks again !! MsYDB

Personal question…do you have a son named Bill. I owe my 27 year career to a Bill Baskerville, who interviewed and gave me my job back in 79. A very lovely, and drop dead gorgeous man. Everytime I see your posts I think of him.
