Michelle is not is this picture. This photo was taken earlier yesterday when PBO went to the bookstore with Malia and Sasha. The young lady with the shades is older daughter Malia.
Hey Mary, I believe that picture from Politico is misleading — it is not from Date Night as the photo cutline implies, and it is not a picture of PBO and First Lady Michelle. It is a photo of President Obama and their DAUGHTER, Malia, taken earlier in the day on Friday. I think most of us have seen how fast Malia has grown in beauty and in phyisque, but surely she does NOT look like a 47 year old woman. š
You have to be careful when reading Politico. The article that follows the photo makes snide remarks about the ‘dad jeans” the President was wearing earlier. I have no problem with his jeans. He looks as nice in them as ever. You have to take EVERYTHING you read at politico with a grain of salt. I never link to that website. It is always off factually, and the articles are always written in a negatively biased fashion when it comes to this President. š¦
Politico is obsessed with the “dad jeans” description—its the 3rd reference I’ve seen to his jeans on that site. They, like the rest of the media, is so extremely jealous of Obama because he looks adorable in anything he wears and because they are petty and small-minded and he is not.
Not only are they jealous of how he looks, they are upset at how he clearly defies the stereotype of the typical Black male who neglects his wife and/or kids and while running around with multiple women. Meanwhile, their “family values” GOP politicians are the ones engaging in that kind of behavior.
All this nonsense from the PL, MSM and Teathug media about Obama being weak and “girly” and wearing “mom/dad jeans” is to harass him about his masculinity in order to tempt him to behave like a thug/gangsta to prove how “man” he is. Thankfully, our President is secure in his masculinity and is content to be a loving father and husband without engaging in self-destructive “masculine” behavior.
Hopefruit2, I believe with every fiber in my being that is one of the main reasons so much of this bashing, hateful thoughts being slung at President Obama. The sad thing about it all is that he will never be that because that is not who he is. Yes, thankfully it is so woven into his core being that his secure presentations of all that he does will always be about truth, goodness to others, firmness, fairness, calmness, diginity, comfort in who he is, and the precious love for the women who nurtured that core in him gone and the present one, our First Lady and his lovely two daughter that he allows us to see those beautiful moments with them. They will never behold anything else in this great President. So we will enjoy him and appreciate him every moment that we are given the grace to do so.
Where’s Michelle? I miss her. Haven’t seen her in a while.

On another note, a telling sign: I live in a traditionally Republican district in Illinois (Actually Denny Hastert’s old district). My current worthless representative voted against Boehner’s debt ceiling bill because it wasn’t draconian enough in its cuts. He’s insisting on a balanced budget amendment.
Well, he’s back home and has scheduled 3 townhalls. Of course, he is avoiding the largest city in the district (where he would encounter more opposition) and instead picked more traditionally Republican strongholds. So far, he has encountered strong pushback from people insisting that he support tax hikes for the wealthy and corporations. At the first meeting, only one person there supported his point of view. I think he is in a state of shock.
Do I think he will change his position? No. But I am taking comfort in the fact that even the Republican base is starting to realize that their representative honors his pledge to Grover Norquist more than his commitment to the very people who elected him. I am hoping this will swell into a Great Awakening.
Good. I am noticing the same thing happening in other Repub town halls. Same thing happened at my deadbeat dad Rep. Joe Walsh’s town hall here the other day. Hope they all get an ear full. That’s the plan.
My favorite was the flash mob that showed up at Sen. Scott Brown’s fundraiser.
Are these townhalls getting air time in the MSM? Didn’t think so. Perhaps pressure should be applied to the MSM to give coverage equal to that given to the disruptive town halls during the health care debate. I thought they loved drama and conflict, seems they are ignoring their normal focus. Why now MSM? Because it doesn’t serve your Republican script! The fouth estate is rundown, delapidated, and should be declared condemned.
They loved to show the town halls when the TPers were harassing the Dems about health care. It didn’t matter that most of those were arranged by outside groups. What we are seeing at these Rep town halls are the real voters of those districts really ticked off. Of course, there is plenty of blame to share as to why they got in, but lots of buyer’s remorse. Hopefully it will still be there next fall.
And thank you for being there.
Brian, I am sorry you are stuck with a bagger. I am totally shocked that the repubs continue to fight against raising taxes when a huge majority of American’s are for getting rid of the tax cuts that occurred under the shrub. I think it is great that he continues on this path to destruction, because his voters are going to be very angry by the time 2012 rolls around.

Oh that’s my favorite part too! Tears of joy just flowed on me seeing how spontaneously ALL those kids rushed to help him get up. I wonder if we can make that part of the video go viral, like the baby one. How about it Chips? You’re the master at this.
It’s another one that the world needs to see. I find it symbolic of how people without malice or hatred, just like innocent children, react to a good, kindhearted man like our President.
And proof that Tweety can quit blabbing on about Obama’s disconnect with “regular folks” in the heartland. “Regular folks” who are smart, sane and reasonable like him just fine, respect and love him in fact.
I love this ad—–would like to see it in every market across the country. It’s just beautiful in every way. And Iowa is where I was born and raised, and I know those kind of people well. Good common sense people, not hateful.

The only thing I do in my kitchen that’s organized! I have a rhythm to it and it works great. There is NOTHING like taking a jar of ‘summer’ off the shelf on a cold, blustery January day.
I used to put together baskets for the holidays for our clients, friends and to donate — canned jams, pickles, relishes or chutney from the summer farmer’s markets, home baked goods, needlepoint or quilted Christmas ornaments. I do not know where I found the time and energy.

Thank you Chipsticks for informing us of the good things about PBO and all that he is doing. It is folks like you, BWD, and all the others that makes me so proud of all of you. You are doing a great service. You ARE now the fourth estate and the only real news I get these days. The CBC is complaining about PBO not being physically in the AA community but he is doing so much for this community and all poor communities behind the scenes because it is not “politically correct” now days to help those that are disadvanraged. Thanks to you we know better. The President and first lady spend a lot of time supporting the AA community in D.C. and nearby communities. He’s traveled to all the areas that have been devastated through natural and man-made disasters which included many AA communities. I was watching some greedy Heritage Foundation guy talking about the poor in America are like middle class in europe (WTF?. He was spouting so many lies about the poor here rarely go hungry and have all the material things the middle class and rich have like Xboxes, cell phones, and flat screen tv’s (most people had to get them due to the transition from analog to digital and those that could not were able to get those over-priced government funded converter boxes). This guy probably never met a poor person in his life. I am hoping that most people see through these greedy Republicans who care only for the rich and making them richer. These nasty people are trying to spread the meme that 50% of the people pay no federal income taxes but won’t say these people are seniors and a family of four who earn $20K and the GOP wants them to start paying federal income taxes.
I started watching C-Span this morning until they had on this guy from the Heritage Foundation. Had to shut it off, my stomach couldn’t handle the crap coming out of his mouth about the poor. (food stamps not counted as income??? Say What?) Thanks for watching.

Jon Stewart, who is on my most irritating and mad list lately, did have a great segment the other night on this. He showed all the Repubs crabbing about the poor who don’t pay taxes and wanting them to bear the burden while defending millionaires and billionaires from any tax increase. He made so much fun of Repubs pointing to the fact that 96% of poor people have refridgerators!!! The nerve of them!!! Well, make them pay some taxes then! The utter absurdity—-mind-boggling!
Hi guys, I just saw on Twitter that Rove says Sarah Palin is going to run. Still gaping in disbelief.
They are scrambling because their current field of candidates simply does not attract any kind of enthusiasm whatsoever. They are DESPERATE and Palin is indeed their last resort. Like Perry, Romney, Hunstman, Sanctorum, etc., she will implode shortly after she announces, if she does decide to run.
The last news I saw about her was her stated agreement with Perry about treasonous Bernanke. She and Bachmann and Perry can be in some sort of dumb contest. Who can say the most idiotic thing to attract the most teabaggers——and scare away everyone with a brain in the process.
Whatever intellectual capacity she has(my thought is below average)is overwhelmed by her psychological and emotional imbalances.
Should President Obama ever meet her in a debate…I say it’s gloves off baby…mop the freakin floor with her.
I’m not sure what I think about this. On the one hand, it will highlight just how crazy the Republicans have become where Bachmann, Perry and now possibly Palin are considered major candidates for the nomination. It might split the crazy vote Whig means Romney will probably be the nominee and he’s the only one close to the President in the polls. But if one of the crazies win, there is a chance they might get elected. Some days I just want to put my head in my hands. How stupid can people be?
Bachman, Palin or Perry will NOT get elected President unless there is some illegal rigging of the election going on. Americans may have short memories, but they aren’t stupid. The Democratic base will be riled up to vote if any of these three candidates are on the ballot. No amount of marketing by Rove, MSM or Koch brothers will help these candidates on a national scale, even though they may excite selected factions of the GOP voter base.
That’s why my guess is that the GOP nominee will be Romney or Huntsman – regardless of what the current straw polls say.
I agree. Fortunately Bush, and his incompetence are still fresh in our minds, we are still living through the devastion his administration wrought. America may not have recognized his incompetence before electing him, but surely they have learned their lessons since. I can’t see any of the far right candidates being allowed access to the oval office, not with the permission of the majority of Americans, no matter their political stipes.
Everytime I see Rick Perry I see Bush, only worse. When I see Bachmann and Palin I see certifiable cray.
Esmerelda – Every time I think no one would be stupid enough to put these people in the White House, I remember they put W in there. Twice. So, it is scary and revolting, and we have to stick together to keep our sanity and get the President re-elected in a landslide!
The conditions that allowed W to be elected twice no longer exist. The public relied on the cable news/print media to tell them how to think about Presidential candidates. That is no longer the case. The blogosphere is increasingly prolific as more people get internet access. Younger people and minorities are more engaged in presidential politics than they were in the 2000-2007. People are more mindful of the lies and deception by the Repubs, as well as the MSM and PL being an extended arm of the Repub party. There was no Twitter or Facebook in 2000, and these sites were still non-existent or rudimentary in 2004. As a result, there is even more international involvement in American politics than ever before.
So unless the elections are seriously rigged (as in illegal activity), the American people will not vote for a Bachman or a Palin – regardless of how much marketing they receive from the MSM.

Palin is not electable. If she runs, America best not tolerate any end runs on her part, which is her MO.
Frankly I believe she should be required to submit to psychological testing….IMO she is mentally ill. I personally don’t believe she will, her closet is overflowing with skeletons, she does not have the stamina or the organization to support a serious campaign. I think this is her ongoing grift. Several very negative projects are soon to be released that will put this cockroach into the light of truth, and in part I think this is an attempt to distract attention from them.
If she does,I will be very unhappy. The divisiveness and hatred she injects into America’s conscience is damaging and quite possibly dangerous. She is the only person that I have ever been compelled to hate, even though I try not to. Someone here once called her a waste of human skin….I concur and have referred to her as such ever since.

I am in total agreement with you on the poison personality that Palin injects into the American beautiful fabric of goodness in so many people. I will always think why did Sen. Mccain and his staff bring this person intto our lives. She brings so much negative energy into the conversation that we are trying to have and need to carry on in this time of our history, and it is just shameful. I noticed Palin was much calmer than she’s been but it was just a one-day thing. Maybe if they put her meds and limit her speaking engagements, they can trot her out at the GOP convention. She still has to Debate the President and I am sorry, you can’t undo stupid in 15 months.

Recent polling had Romney third in Wisconsin. Getting Palin in means splitting the tea party vote three ways. Remember that after the first 5-6 primaries, the GOP contests go winner take all. Romney only needs to win the state by 1% to take all delegates. Say Romney’s ceiling is 30-35% in deep red states, it means there is 65-70% up for grabs and if Perry and Bachmann are battling for that it means that one could get 36+ and take the State, but if that 65-70% is being split three ways competitively it means Romney is likely winning the State.

I think Michelle really relishes her time away from the camera. It’s been reported that she just likes to hang out, not worry about hair and makeup etc., just relax and be on vacation. You can just imagine how vexing that must be, every move you make recorded, always on display. You would really look forward to these getaways where you can do whatever you want for a bit. Heard they like to play a lot of scrabble with friends and just chill. They need this kind of break—-and deserve it.
You’re right Jacqueline. I believe that FLOTUS is spending as much time at home with the girls now because the upcoming year is going to be extra tough on the entire family. It’s an election year and the girls are much more aware than they were four years ago. In addition, their schoolwork (5th/8th grades) is going to be more demanding than it was in 2007-08 when they were in 1st/4th grades. With mom and dad on the campaign trail, Sasha and Malia will have to take up some extra slack in the coming year. That’s the sacrifice our First Family is making for this country.
So true hopefruit2. My neice is the same age as Sasha and as an only child, she would miss her Mom very much if she were gone as much as FLOTUS would be on the campaign trail. The subject Malia must be learning have to be pretty tough although she’s smart as whip like her parents. Still, it’s gonna be tough for the whole family.
Thanks for posting this video. It brought tears to my eyes. This President is so real — kind, thoughtful, sensitive and a fabulous President. I don’t care what others say about him, I trust him to do what is right for all of us.
Very touching White House video. The heartland tour was a success, and a great preview of the campaign. These are serious times and that was reflected by the substantive, serious questions asked by those at the townhalls. Because PBO is so intelligent and caring, he connects on a personal level unlike any politician in my lifetime (even more than President Clinton). If enough voters can experience these up close connections with a leaderwho is trying his best to make their lives just a little bit better, then I have no doubt he will be rewarded at the ballot box.
I just got a nice surprise in my mailbox this morning, a letter from FLOTUS via the DNC….a letter from her with a lovely photo of her. She states the importance of this election, and of course there is a fundraising card, but that doesn’t bother me at all. DWS is smart, and supports the president, and I will send money. The picture of FLOTUS is beautiful and a keeper.
I’ve noticed that the first time we’ve seen a picture of the girls in several months was yesterday at the bookstore, and that was only a quick glimpse. I know Michelle spent quantity and quality time with her daughters this summer. I’m so glad she did. She builds a real bulwark against the crazies for her girls. I’m also glad that their grandmother lives with them. Having grandchildren, I know there is a special bond in that relationship, and I remember that with my mother and my children. That multi-generational cohesion is so important!

I see that now even The Peoples’ View is showing off pictures of the Mid-West-In-Your-Face tour.
To me this is appropriate. Some people might proclaim the Mid-West “fly-over” country, but the President of the United States presides over all.
[ Not to mention that I passed close to all these villages on my ’86 coast-to-coast tour – lovable people, all of them. ]
They’re good people aren’t they. I think of my Grandfather a rural farmer, on the poor end of the stick, alsways working hard, politically active, always engaged in the community. Evidently politics were frequently discussed, vigorously and heatedly, but at the end of the conversations all remained respected and true friends. Today, for some, politics is an excuse to divide and demonize, a reason to create enemies. That was not the intent of our system of debate and compromise.
I feel like the tides are changing, slowly, I think we can thank President Obama for the shift in the currents.

I hope all of you are having a beautiful day wherever you may be. It is such a lovely day in Cali.(atleast in my part of Cali.) A slight breeze and what sun we are having . Lovely to sit on the patio or beach and just enjoy the goodness of the earth.
I had an early visit with one of my (adopted sons) who has several homes for wonderful people who are trying to get their lives back. I always provide lovely furniture, lovely clothes and beautiful items to help make the homes lovely and beautiful. I enjoy decorating and having them have some of my items to make their places beautiful and lovely. I am not rich or even near that, but I am very grateful to give to make others happy and feel lovely about themselves. So we had to move some items and I feel peace being release out into the open space of this lovely country that we have immediately as we were moving these items to those homes.
You know TOD Family, we are so blessed to have each other and Chips to present to each other the beauty of living a full and lovely life of positive space for others. I like that so much about our President. He and our beautiful First Lady encourages the good in all of us to reach out and continue to help others and share with others during these tough and difficult times. So thanks, Chipsticks for allowing us to converse, share, and find ways to exercise the good angels within us to the world of people who are hurting and starving for just a little love that each of us have within our heart to make this a better place to be in. That’s my task for the weekend, to be ready for the Donations truck coming on Wednesday. We have so much that is not being used or appreciated…and I think excess is like emotional baggage, it puts a strain on the energy in our home.
I also enjoy giving nice things to people that can use them, wish I was in your neighborhood, as I would love to contribute to your sons community efforts. He sounds like a very generous and kind person. Apples don’t fall far from their trees.
Sue, you are a beautiful soul. I love the quote. I met this young man when I was purchasing some furniture pieces for my music/library room and my office at the time when I was working. I did not have in mind who I wanted to give the already lovely pieces in those room, and the lovely salesperson told me about this home and the purpose of it. I was so open to the beautiful mission of the home that I called and asked if I could meet with the Founder. I was very moved and I immediately gave those items to his homes. I loved his gentle and firm spirit and his beautiful accent and manners, so I told him that I wished that I had a son like him. So the adoption was done. I have known him for nine years, and he is like the most wonderful human being one would love to meet and have as a son. So I am so grateful. You are so right, Sue, we have so much right before our eyes that could and would give so much happiness, joy, and fulfill so much need, especially now. I give expectecting nothing by more of the goodness that was planted in my heart by God and the wisdom of my parents and grandparents. If I can shine for these principles, so let the lightts shines. I love my country, the wonderful people here, and all of the wonderful one that I have met during this journey. I also feel that a Higher Power than we are have given us the opportunity to shown even more of that spirit within us to more of the country and the world. That is one reason why I love our President and all of you here. Let’s keep the sweet spirit moving along with hope and joy for a sweetness that is so refreshing.
