      Hi ya, BWD!

Sasha has really grown…she is so much taller than the last time I saw her in public. By the end of the year or inaugural day Malia will be the same height has FLOTUS. So glad the Prez is with the girls and Flotus relaxing.

All of the pictures I have ever seen of the President with people they are all smiling, laughing and so happy to see him. I haven’t seen a unhappy face. This man is loved no matter what the media says.

Love following you on twitter BWD. We miss TOAITR. Take care.

I wonder what the CBC will have to say about this:

Free meals for all Detroit schoolchildren in fall

All Detroit Public Schools students will receive free breakfast, lunch and snacks in an effort to remove the stigma of being from a low-income family.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture program chose Michigan as one of three states to participate in the pilot program. Charter schools and districts in Michigan can participate if at least 40% of students are eligible for public assistance.

โ€œOne of the primary goals of this program is to eliminate the stigma that students feel when they get a free lunch, as opposed to paying cash,โ€ said DPS Chief Operating Officer Mark Schrupp. โ€œSome students would skip important meals to avoid being identified as low-income. Now, all students will walk through a lunch line and not have to pay. Low-income students will not be easily identifiable and will be less likely to skip meals.โ€

Although not required to participate, parents are still being asked to fill out a survey that includes income analysis to ensure that children, schools and the district will continue to receive millions of dollars in benefits and resources from the state and federal governments, as well as private grants. Program funding dependent on the surveys includes tutoring, after-school programs, field trips, technology and equipment, DDOT bus cards, free college testing, enrichment activities and others.

The Community Eligibility Option is among the early reforms enacted under President Obamaโ€™s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, which authorized the USDA to select up to three states to test the option in School Year 2011-12. A main factor in choosing the finalists was the prevalence of high-poverty areas. The option will be offered to more states in successive years, and will be available to all states beginning School Year 2014-15.

    • August 19, 2011 at 3:28 pm

      I wondered the same thing.

I also heard Rep Cleaver declared that Blacks will not turn out for PBO in 2012. These people are really freaking out.

      • August 19, 2011 at 3:33 pm

They’re really more stupid than I thought, if they think PBO is going to get hurt by losing next year. PBO is the only one who will probably be happier. The rest of us will suffer.

          August 19, 2011 at 3:58 pm

Agreed, PBO can take his family back home to Chicago or Hawaii and live the wonderful life of a former President and the Poor will only suffer more under repug/millionaire rule.

That’s exactly right, BWD! These CBC people, like PL, have not seriously thought about the consequences of a Republican presidency and a Republican congress, both dominated by the teabaggers, who would also be selecting judges, including Supreme Court justices.

Sounds like desparation to me! Carrying T-Repub water can make your fearful if you’re getting too much pushback from the community you represent. Let’s see what happens when they decide they want to ride the wave of PBO’s 2012 victory. Will not be pretty.

      • August 19, 2011 at 4:05 pm

I can’t stand that guy but in the primaries he was heavily for Senator Clinton; I don’t know if he ever got over that and got on board with President Obama. Sadly, as long as he’s been a member of congress from the state of MO, my state. I’ve never heard much about him as I have with is opposition to this president.

Hahahaha. Good one Fred. They can try to deny it, but President Obama and his administration have done and keep doing good things for the black community and only ignorant people who aren’t paying attention end up opening their loud mouths to spew nonsense.

PBO looks really good in the pictures. Glad he’s getting some downtime. He’s a really slim guy. It’s nice to see the girls out and about and gasp! they’re actually buying books to read. Don’t tell the GOP. ๐Ÿ™„ The girls are growing up before our very eyes. Hope they too have a great vacation.

That’s the problem with many of the CBC members. Most of them were for Clinton and only a few were for Obama. I think they are hoping he fail for the “I told you so” factor. I have a feeling that President Obama is ignoring some of them and their complaining and that goes for Maxine too.

I wish Bill and Hillary Clinton would do the right thing for the party and ask all of their friends and allies to stop trashing the President. They surely still have a lot of clout within the party and they could tone down this nonsense. The ONLY way that the democratic party will retain the WH is with Barack Obama as a nominee AND with some UNITY behind him.

        • August 19, 2011 at 4:56 pm

Hi all. If I can jump in and add my 2 cents. Yes, Cleaver is nothing but a Clinton PUMA. He and the CBC never supported PBO. They didn’t help anyone turn out for him. He did it on his own with our help. So he doesn’t need the CBC now. And from what I read everywhere the CBC’s antics this week (led by Troubled Waters) has done nothing but turn people off and make them vow to work that much harder for the president. So Cleaver, he of the nothing but a preacher fame, needs to go sit down.

These CBC folks have been around since PBO was a teen and they have accomplished absolutely nothing. Along comes this bright man who doesn’t ask for their help or wait his turn and wins the presidency and they cannot stand it.

Tough. We will work hard, donate hard and make sure people get out to vote. Didn’t need CBC in 2008, will not need them now.

i cannot say that they have done nothing…what i can say is that like any politiician…you can get comfortable…esp when your keep getting re-elected over and over again…because the voters do not hold you accountable for what you have not done…

i hesitate to condemn them all…but unless your speak out in defense of the President then we will paint you with the same brush…

Rep. Cleaver better hope they do turn out for President Obama, because if they don’t, do Rep. Cleaver think Bachmann, Perry, Romney, will give a dam about the Black community? That is so wonderful. These are the kind of things which are so important and where government can make a difference. I love that all will be getting this opportunity so no children are singled out for the free lunch. Super great! Imagine this kind of thing would be high on the list of Mitt Romney or Rick Perry—–ha! Not a chance. And the CBC should rethink their anti-Obama campaign because all they’re doing is the same thing that the PL did to foul up the 2010 election—- making the huge mistake of making people angry at the President and less likely to be motivated to vote—- and we’ve seen those horrific results. It changed everything.

What we need to do is get this news to the masses (including Waters and the rest of the CBC- although I am sure they are aware of it)I am confident blacks will vote PBO in 2012 even though they may not agree with him 100% as stated before the other options are 1000 times worst. Lastly thank you Mr President for this and all the other wonderful work you are doing.

I know a lot of people here don’t particularly like Rachel Maddow (I personally think she’s very good, even if she does criticize Obama on occasion) but even you don’t care for her show, she did have a great segment on this whole Presidential Vacation ridiculousness. The best part is when she calls out the media for perpetuating it.

    • 63 busbus
      August 19, 2011 at 5:59 pm

I’m with you, chiara. Often, I become annoyed with some of her segments, as well as others on msnbc; but for the most part, she is willing to shine the light on the GOP/TP hypocrisy, propaganda, lies and double-standards rhetoric. If I remember correctly, she was one of the first, if not the first, to lay out all of the legislative accomplishments of President Obama when the GOP/TP, pundits and MSM were running on “President Obama hasn’t accomplished anything in two and a half years.”

      • 64 chiara
        August 19, 2011 at 6:24 pm

Yes I believe she may have been. I just really appreciate her intelligence and that she lays the issues out very well on her show. She seems to dig deeper than many others (which isn’t all that hard anymore) and tries to get to the core issue. Plus I like that she adds humor to her show, I find it helps to digest all the “crazy” and negativity that goes on out there. I don’t find her critiques of Obama to be too strident and usually she lays them out well and backs them up, I may not agree with them but I can definitely appreciate where she’s coming from all the same. I just don’t put her in the same category as Marcus M, Jane Hamsher, Adam Green and the like and I know many people lump them all together. She is far more intelligent and earnest in her desire to educate people on the issues, the others I find to be more self serving than anything.

      • August 19, 2011 at 6:37 pm

Well, she did do that..I’ll give her credit for that.

Yes I found that’ve I’ve stopped watching Keith. I find his rants to be far too hyperbolic and in a sense that makes them less useful. He is incredibly smart and I do like his sharp mind but admit I can only take him in small doses. For me Rachel has never been as screechy as Keith and to be frank I really like it that she can act with civility even when someone she disagrees with comes on her show. I learn a lot from her and when she bugs me I just turn the channel ๐Ÿ˜‰

6’0″ – 6’2″ she will probably be done growing in the next year, and maybe as tall or slightly taller than her Dad. Michelle’s family is supplying the height genes. From practical experience and tall family genes our girls reached their full height by 8th adn 9th grade.

It is ALWAYS heartwarming to me to see how ‘real’ people react to President Obama, AND to note that the response is not restricted to any specific age group. Young and old alike get a charge out of his presence! I love to get pictorial glimpses of the Obamas while they are on vacation, but I also wish the girls in particular could get some ‘alone’ time with their dad. This presidency really does pull be in conflicting directions. I want it to go slowly so I can enjoy having an intelligent man in charge, but I want it to hurry up so that PBO can put the election behind him. I want to know what the family is up to every day, but sometimes I see the girls and can’t help feeling that THEY feel hounded every time they leave home with their parents. Such a sacrifice for the girls and such a dilemma for me!
