Hey gobrooklyn. I don’t plan on paying any attention to the Internets (except for Chipsticks). I plan on trying to catch glimpses of the Prez and his family enjoying themselves and relaxing. I hope they all have a wonderful time and are refreshed and renewed. I especially like to think of the two girls catching up on “daddy” time. They must really be missing him by now and they all deserve some uninterrupted family time together. The complainers would complain no matter what so it’s best to just ignore.
No cable news – no Sunday talk shows – for me. I’m taking a 10-day vacation, too, with my President. (Well, he didn’t ask me to go with, but … ) Yee-haw!
Mr. President, I pray that God calms the financial and political waters of the world so you can have a few days of rest and relaxation for your mind and your body.
WordPress can be weird sometimes. Only tip I can think of is to always check to make sure you’re signed in before you post. Sometimes I have to sign in every time I make a comment and sometimes WordPress remembers me. I haven’t figured it out yet.
The government doesn’t stop working because the President takes a vacation. That’s why we have Cabinet Secretaries for and a Vice President. The President still will get daily briefings.
The President likes to write on vacation, I suspect he’ll largely write his jobs/economy address while away.
I wonder what attacks the GOP/MSM have in store over the next week+, probably a vid or two asking unemployed folks about the last time they took a 10 day vacation and the like.
A little OT. I am looking at a lot the people at PBO’s townhalls and a lot of senior citizens were at each town hall. I think this was .They could hear what PBO says about medicare, SS and medicaid out of his own mouth. I heard Rachel say that the people in Florida, say that they are turned off by all republicans. I have a feeling that 2012 is going to surprise folks who thinks people will only be voting on the economy. I also believe that PBO is going to take a hard line against the republicans re his jobs bills and dare them to vote against it. If they vote against it, he is going take it the people and call them out. I am loving his new strategy.
Also saw Melissa H. Perry sitting in for LOD and she was great today. I love the long analogy she gave comparing what FLOTUS said about being proud of her country, to Bachmann saying essentially the same thing Saturday and not a peep out of the media.
Hope he and his delightful family have a safe trip and a wonderful relaxation filled with food, fun, music, movies, good books, laughter, getting out and about and lots of R&R. Hopefully the domestic and financial markets will stabilize and the domestic and global front will be calm.
UTaustinliberal, I read your last post on the previous thread and you had me dying lauging. I said to myself, tell us how you really feel about these folks criticizing PBO’s vacation. 🙂
This man seriously needs a good vacation. I cannot imagine how he keeps his head above water with nothing but criticism and disrespect and no acknowledgment for all he accomplishes all the time.
Have a great time on Martha’s Vineyard, Mr. President! You deserve every minute of it!
He surrounds himself with trusted friends and family to remind him what is important. I worry about him too, but not as much as I used to. I block out the negativity and go to sites like this that help me keep things in perspective.
Does anyone think that given the unemployment situation, that maybe the administration should have tried to pass a jobs bill back when they had more democrats in the house and waited on healthcare? (Don’t get me wrong I am thrilled he passed the health care bill, but I am worried now that it may hurt him politically.)
Or would it have mattered? I know absolutley nothing about the machinations of congress so any incite would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Chgo Trib did a little expose’ about my horrible tea party rep., disgusting Joe Walsh, “the tip of the spear” as he proudly called himself in the standoff in the debt ceiling debate. His life has been full of irresponsibility, the worst being his deadbeat dad status, having been sued by ex-wife for $117,000 in unpaid child support. He’s also in troubs for not disclosing this info on his financial disclosure forms, as required by law and Congressional Ethics Committee. This article contains the new news that he lost his license again this year, since his election, for letting his high risk insurance lapse, the 2nd time in 3 years he’s lost his license. He has 17 traffic offenses on his record, paid hundreds of dollars in fines. His life has been messy at every turn, dozens of different jobs, couldn’t have lasted very long at any of them. And he gets on TV and says Obama lies and yells false insanities. He’s just a real piece of work, an embarrassment and should never have been elected and wouldn’t have been except for the idiotic, hateful tea party. If you can stand it: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-joe-walsh-profile-20110817,0,1872985.story
If Melissa Bean hadn’t run from the President, Walsh wouldn’t be in Congress.
Just imagine if the Dem’s had embraced ACA, GM and all of Obama’s accomplishments, educated their constituents instead of letting their lack of facts run the narrative.
This iis the tragedy of it all…why weren’t they (THE DEMOCARATS) proud of their accomplishments…they ran scared….i agree…they allowed the media and the TP/Repubs to control the message….
The President…has learned that…you have to be in control of the message…..his message is Jobs…he has defined the battle of taxes…that the wealthy should pay their fair share…every one …esp the middle class knows that the tax rate is not fair….ask anyone on the street….
this is one of the narratives that the presiident has defined….
another is to set the stage for what gets cut …and that providing jobs and growing the economy and investing in our future does not have to be sacrificed in the name of deficit reduction…and he said that we cannot turn our backs on those who are struggling
when he spoke to that college student at the town hall meeting yesterday…he talked about education and having our children being prepared for the future…
the democrats need to echo these talking points….
to embrace this…to talk about the bills that are ready to be passed….the bills that the president has spoken about in this bus tour….
it will be interesting to see how many democrats support the president…instead of bashing or remaining quiet…..
i love that video…in which the folks are taking it to their reps…just as the President asked….
more of us need to do the same…
Agree with you. I received another call from a DNC office asking for my generous donation of $100.00. I said, yeah, right. Went on to explain, again, that until these dems get in concert with the President on his/their achievements, begin to echo the concerns he has for saving this country from the slaughter emminent if rethugs take over, they will get absolutely nothing from me. I mentioned that I had already told this to atleast 2 callers previously. I said the only person who will get my money is PBO. This caller told me he has been hearing a lot of this sentiment lately, so we are making our voices heard. Let’s keep up the fight, which actually will save their behinds in the process.
*This caller told me he has been hearing a lot of this sentiment lately*
That’s what I like to hear! That and to see the great video posted by Chipsticks about the crashing of Scott Brown’s stupid party. Great move. I may actually get back on MoveOn’s mailing list.
So glad to see that the DNC is hearing us, I wish the DCCC would start listening since it is the house Dems who are hell bent on taking down this President. They are also the ones who ran away from PBO in the last election and lost so many seats to the TPers.
I get calls daily. I said if there was a chance Maxine Waters was going to get a dime of my money, they couldn’t have any: She’s been in Congress for 30 years and doesn’t understand that it isn’t Obama ‘choosing” to hurt black people? Seriously? Turning off the black voter, instead of focusing like a laser on our real enemies? If there ever was a time when voting was most important, it’s 2012. How effing dare she.
A strong Democratic, filibuster-proof majority is what’s needed to help all people of all colors. How the hell does she not understand that?
The thing is she loved Obama. She was at every Obama meet-up, every campaign event I attended and gave impassioned little speeches praising him to the nth degree. She got to know him well as they both arrived in D.C. the same year and both from Illinois. She was a huge supporter at heart. But she also represented a very wealthy area, a more conservative area, very bsns. friendly, which was her background by the way, and she tried to play it down the middle, representing the interests of all of her constituents. And the only Dem that could be elected here is a moderate to conservative Dem. It’s what it is, sadly. That election was a fluke, it was at the heat of the tea party hysteria, they showed up to vote, the common sense people didn’t, and before anyone realized what could happen, it was too late. I never heard this race mentioned as a possible loss. And crazy Walsh eked out a win. It’s what happens when normal people don’t bother to vote. And that is why those on the far left and those in the AA community who are constantly criticizing can do as much damage as anyone in the Republican Party.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the GOP unveiled a Jobs/Cuts bill of their very own on Monday so they can control the narrative for the week, highlight the President being on a long vacation and President Obama would look like he’s playing catch-up. Part of their strategy has been to grind him down, to give no rest – so this week+ will be no different.
Even if they came out with a “jobs” plan, the fact that Obama’s announcement came before theirs would make them seem petty and reactionary (which they are). Voters would know instantly that this “jobs plan” was simply a reaction to the President’s announcement and as you said, it’s highly likely that their “plan” will be heavy on tax cuts for the wealthy and short on any substantive or specific measures to actually create jobs for the middle- and working class.
Bottom line: I have no worry about the possibility of the GOP unveiling a “jobs plan” while the President is on vacation.
Plus, remember that some people in our country (Democrats, included) have the attention span of a gnat. So, if the Republicans put out a one- or two-page jobs plan now and the President puts out a masterful jobs plan in September (if that’s his intent – can’t recall if that’s been confirmed by the White House, the only source I believe), that’ll give us a couple of weeks to laugh at the R plan and then appreciate the President’s more.
Dotster and family above, I feel that the President has a very substantive plan as well. President Barack Obama does not do sloppy work. He has thought this thing out very well, and his team is working along with him at this very moment to get ready to have it rolled out just like he said he would. It is the non- informational low use of brains on the cables and the jealous jackasses in the Dems party who are talking smack and looking like fools. Play golf, eat ice cream, laugh and enjoy your beautiful daughters and friends, and work like hell(which is not new to you, Mr. President) and come out swinging in Sept. God be with you all the way, and enjoy your vacation with your friends and family. You deserve every minute of it. Enjoy yourself, Mr. President. We are with you.
Chipsticks, I appreciate the fact that I can visit this site and see pictures of Democrats and what they are doing. The other sites, some of which we all visit and respect, seem to want to tell the story of this President and his party solely from the point of view of showing the GOP telling the lie of the moment. While it continues to expose them, it means that every day I get a steady diet of images of GOP leaders from HuffPo, Talking Points, Balloon Juice and others. It is so very important to give us a venue to see OUR people doing their jobs.
Anonymous- agree wholeheartedly! That is why TOD,TOAITR,The People’s View, and Wee See You are my go to blogs to start the day. All the others blogs, that I flip through quickly I might add, seem to fill you up with what the GOP are saying and doing, barely giving the dems a shout out. P.S – ditched, the negative ones like kos, huffpo a while now …and never looked back
I so agree with your comment. Those are the blogs that start my day. Now that BWD is on hiatus this is the only one I comment on. I am also learning more about twitter. I have not gone to huff n puff since it was sold. Kos I will go to if someone I know has a diary. There are afew still fighting the good fight there. We need to know what really is happening and we get all that here.
Good Night my TOD Family and our wonderful Chips. Thank you for all of the beautiful photos of our President. What a delightful time to be here in this family. Chips, please get some rest and relaxation. We love you so very much. HZ
I’ve been trying to post for the last 2 weeks. pressed log in and everything appears to be in order. If this appears hello TOD family and hope the president gets some much needed rest and family time.
Best to the TOD family. I so hope the president gets the rest and family time he deserves. Also hope this posts cuz wordpress says I’m logged in but none of my comments ever post.
Sorry Jackie, UT, and Chips. I am just SO Obama Obsessed I guess any negativity brought from his enemies SCARES me. I have found the ROOT of my problem. I get scared when this stuff is mentioned. I have to understand that we don’t live in a Utopian society and PBO has many enemies. I will refrain from confronting anyone else when they report what is being done or said to PBO and asking for our PUSHBACK.
That being said love you Chips. I am really a fun loving and compassionate guy and very PASSIONATE about PBO’s re-election. Please don’t be afraid to meet in my birthplace of D.C. at PBO’s next inauguration. Hope a large group of us TODers and TOAITRers can get together that glorious weekend in January of 2013!! KEEP HOPE ALIVE!! Obama/Biden 2012!!
Apology accepted Keith. For next time, whenever you feel panicky about the news or the negativity by PBO’s enemies; just let us know and we’ll calm you down and reassure you. We’re a family here and we’re all working to spread information that will help us in the battle to get President Obama re-elected. We all have to know the good news that is out there and also what false news the other side and the media is peddling. So once again, don’t get overly panicky and attack anyone with news; just let us know how you’re feeling and we’ll ALL be there for you. 😀
Kasai, I can’t see the video of the song, but I know that you always post very thoughtful and beautiful information to keep us going. Keith, we are a family here,, and you are part of that family. We all have our days, but that is what a strong family is about. Chips has given us such a beautiful and trusted haven here, so accept the love, the concern, the power of all of our voices in harmongy with doing the best and great things to help re-elect this great President. That is our focus, so be encrouage within this beautiful family. You all keep me going each and everyday. You help me get through a medical procedure that was difficult for me, but I called out to my TOD Family and you all came to my side with kind words, good information, prayers, thoughts in your mediatations, and just pure and loving kindness. So we are a united, well informed, fact base, fighting family here who will not allow the ugly people to get us off message. Take heart and know that we care. We can all each other out, but I have only seen it done with respect and love. Chips gives us so much to be grateful for on this site to make it a workable, intelligent, and sound voices of information and conversations. All we need to remember is to respect the hard work that she puts into this beautiful site with the same love and respect. We built our family on respect, factual information, and complete focus on positive news and ways to help our President daiy. so I send you love, a a big hug. Love you, HZ
I can’t believe..that he didn’t have one single town hall meeting since 2010 He got a little comfortable…I believe the reason is out there fundraising is, that he a bit nervous about Elizabeth Warren?..getting in the race.
Love the fact our side is getting energized….YES WE CAN!!! and YES WE WILL 🙂
Yes, the President being out and about and WI victories this week. Let’s not forget the debt ceiling debacle and good old Paul Ryan’s vouchers, folks have just had enough. Republicans are going to reap what they have sown. What goes around comes around. I’m loving every bit of it. I ignore the media and watch the President’s every move. He’s brilliant.
Love the TOD family. This is a great place to learn the facts.
This video is priceless. You mean Scott Brown is not riding around in that pickup holding townhalls? He should have been embarrased. I sure hope Elizabeth run.
Thanks kasai for sharing. I see regular every day people, young, old, etc, etc, that are active about having their voices heard. They listened to their President and are responding.
Hear us and hear us good – we voted you in…we can vote you OUT!
Chipsticks, this video posted by Kasai is wonderful because it brings all types of people together with the same message and its fun at the same time.. Please think about posting it on the Diary’s youtube channel..
The funniest damn thing is that Brown is trying to ignore the protesters, they’re like 10 feet away and chanting and he’s pretending that he can’t see them and is having a conversation like they are not there.
August 18, 2011
Los Angeles, which recently saw its $7-billion investment portfolio downgraded by Standard & Poor’s, has decided to no longer hire the rating company to rate the soundness of the city’s investments.
“We have really lost faith in S&P’s judgment,” Interim Treasurer Steve Ongele said.
Well Mr. President, I wish you a very enjoyable and restful vacation! You have more than earned a break and I trust that it will be a real break with no catastrophe or interruption whatsoever. As you recharge, may you find whatever you most need in the company of family and friends, and may you get the opportunity to not think about the rest of us, at least for one 24 hour stretch. We’ll be here when you get back.
Happy Thursday to all TOD-ers!
[I’m seizing this opportunity to get in an early morning commentary, something that has been removed from my reach for a while now. ;)]
Special thanks to Ms Chips for the lovely pics and her warm hospitality, to UTALib for her summaries and to everyone who adds a little piece to the dialogue. It’s nice to have a caring place to go to when you can find the time to hang out. Warm thoughts also go out to those who are struggling with health issues, or work issues. By the time I arrive ‘home’ at the thread each day I may not physically add to the encouraging wishes shared but I often add my two cents mentally/virtually. Have a great day, y’all! 😆 ps: Sue in M, did you complete the chair, and Tally, did you investigate the offer for a Vancouverite? 😉 Does he have an eligible brother?
I’m pissed off at the media getting their panties in a wad over Mr. Obama taking a vacation, as if he needs to continue being their slave boy. The media said NOTHING about President Bush taking more vacation time than ANY POTUS, even more vacation time than Ronald Reagan, but here they are whining about President Obama going on vacation, as if that’s all he has done his Presidency.
And guess who else is going to be at Martha’s Vinyard? Mittens!
Mittens is soooooooooooooooooo desperate for attention that he’s attempting to steal it away from the President. He’s a creepy and strange little man, and to think that people would vote for him and support him, which is a damned shame.
That rant aside, I hope POTUS and his family enjoy their vacation. Lord knows they need it and have earned it.
nintendowii10, it’ just another way for them to try to bring him down. Common sense tells you Congress is on vacation, have been since early August, where is the media outrage about that? I want to ask these guys why are they making such a big deal about the President taking off a week with his family? The President is never really on vacation, because he has to keep up with what is going on daily, around the world and here. These idiots know that, right now it’s just the in thing to go after Obama. I hope the First Family have a wonderful vacation.
one thing i noticed…the questions that were asked by the people at the Town Hall Meetings….how different they were from the Press Corps questions….simply amazing
I noticed that too. I thought the questions people at the town hall asked were more thoughtful, and some were even tough, compared with the vacuous, often stupid questions the Press Corps have. Oh how I wish we could have people like Fareed Zakaria, Charlie Rose, those types of intelligent, thinking journalist types in the Press corps today instead of idiots like Chuck Todd, etc.
People at town hall mtgs always ask good questions compared to the media clowns. I remember when PBO went to China and did multiple media interviews. He complained that the only thing the media cared about asking was if he had read Sarah Palin’s book.
I continue to be mystified by the media obsession with President Obama taking a well deserved vacation with his family. Anyone looking at his schedule and what he has had to contend with in the last seven months should be able to see that he needs a break from the madness. After all, CONGRESS IS ON A MONTH LONG RECESS.
Why is the leader of the free world not entitled to have time to relax and recharge with his family? Maybe someone in the media can tell us exactly when it would be acceptable for PBO to take some time off. Because no matter when he takes time off there is always a problem with the timing and the optics according to them.
Meanwhile, the policies of President George W. Bush and many of the Republicans in congress right now is why we are in this mess. President Obama has been working tirelessly to clean up the wreckage of the Bush administration. During his time in office, President Bush was at Camp David and his make believe ranch for more than 900 days. The article below needs to be tweeted to the networks who have conveniently gotten amnesia about the amount of time when GWB was not at the White House.
============================
487 Days At Camp David For Bush
490 Days At Crawford, Texas Ranch
George W. Bush is today making his final visit to Camp David as president.
He will likely miss the place: According to CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller, today’s trip marks Mr. Bush’s 149th visit to the presidential retreat. The planned three-day stay, during which the president is being joined by family and former and current aides, will bring his total time spent at Camp David to all or part of 487 days.
Yes, that’s 487 days. And Camp David is not even where the president has spent the most time when not at the White House: Knoller reports that Mr. Bush has made 77 visits to his ranch in Crawford during his presidency, and spent all or part of 490 days there.
Thanks for all the AWESOME and AMAZING information you bring here LadyHawke. I’ve been tweeting all the wonderful linky goodness. (meta’s cool phrase) It’s good to have all this information so I can tweet it to the lying media and it can also get re-tweeted and spread far and wide. Once again, thank you sooooo much for the hardwork and time that it takes to research these pieces of genius information. You absolutely ROCK! 🙂
Fox News Claims that Obama is on Vacation More than George W. Bush
=======================================================
Crowley is lying. Bush spent 1,020 days of his presidency on vacation. To put this into context, John F. Kennedy spent fewer days in office, 1000, than George W. Bush spent on vacation. Bush spent 487 days at Camp David, 490 days at his Crawford ranch, and 43 days in Kennebunkport. George W. Bush spent 69 days in Crawford during his first year in office. In contrast, according to FactCheck.org, Obama spent all, or part of, 26 days of his first year in office on vacation. This was less than all three previous Republican presidents, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush, but more than the two previous Democratic presidents, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.
.
.
No president has ever been as lazy as the man who spent 1/3 of his time in the White House on vacation, George W. Bush, and it is laughable that Crowley would even try to float such a ridiculous lie.
Thanks for all the information and news you obtain for us Fred. It makes correcting misinformation about President Obama and our side much easier. I love tweeting this to the media and pointing out the shoddy work they do. And with twitter, it can get retweeted and spread far and wide so that people begin waking up and realizing that we’re very lucky to have President Obama. So once again, thank you sooo much Fred. 🙂
Good Morning Fred, good to see the information you posted. Thanks so much. Also thanks for your upbeat tone in your comments. You are such a blessing. Have a great day, and Fred, I am drinking my water. Thanks. Love you back very much, HZ
WOW……………Bachmann goinng to any lengths to get the nomination. I hope the public is not that gullible to fall for that. You used to appropriate name to describe her Fred.
I can’t wait to read UT recap of MJ. A lot of people on Twitter are not happy with Maxine Waters this morning. I can just imagine what she said on the show.
Exactly. She will be hearing from me as soon as UTaustinliberal give us her daily MJ report. I don’t have the stomach for Morning joke. I am glad that she reports on it so that we know how to respond. What really upsets me is that she would go on a show like that clwn to complain. She should have been on Rev. Al’s show so that he could set her straight.
Doster, all I will say is I wasn’t happy with these CBC folks yesterday who just want attention.. Conyers seat may be re-districted and Maxine is still fighting that ethics probe.
As Randi Rhodes says all the time if the baby doesn’t get attention it seeks out attention. I betcha no one will ask Maxine her about the ethics investigation but they will ask her is the President losing support in the Black community. My answer of course would be hell no.
Lastly, unemployment has always been double the national rate in the Black community, this is nothing new. But now that we have a Black President the media is focused on this number and why. The answer again is to have faux outrage.
Let me start by saying…many members of the black community never ever thought that there would be a black man in the white house…and if there would be one …that it would not be in their lifetime…they have taken ownership of the President…but not even President Barack Obama could erase centuries of racism, poverty, unemployment, disenfranchisement of the Black community…although some of the programs that he instituted helped…more help is needed…many people thought however though that with a black man in the white house that we had a chance to move forward…but the recession wiped out many gains of middle class Black America…my community which was already at the bottom …has sunk lower…the stats bear this out…and this is not a new discovery….
This brings me to Maxine Waters and others like her who want to take a swing at the President…for what they say he has not done….
Maxine Waters has been a long time advocate for justice in the black community…and she has been in Congress for quite a while …so she is well aware of the politics…
The President’s choice of going thru rural America was not an accident….this is the area that the Repubs just wrapped up in their most recent straw vote…this was his chance to counterpunch the TP/Repubs…to bring his message to this crucial area as well as the rest of America…
It would be hard for me to believe that Maxine would not know or understand this…
For her to come out publicly to ask why didn’t the President didn’t come to the Black Community is interesting…it is like she does not know strategy…hard to believe
Ms Waters knows what the President has been up against…not just from TP/Repubs…but from members of their own party…who choose not to stand with the President…
So you have to ask the question…WHY…
Well I know that Maxine Waters will be involved in an ethics investigation….and that Rangel was sanctioned as well….does this have something to do with why she is deciding to bash the president I do not know..
The President got 95% of the Black vote…there seems to be a strategy by the powers that be… to chip away at that vote and use icons…like Waters to throw mud at the President…
For the most part…. ordinary folks in the Black community see thru the smoke screen…they know that racism is at the heart of the TP movement…that the President has been obstructed since he has been in office…. but when the President takes his show on the road thru the communities of color…. his support will be stronger than ever…
Fox really has so lost the plot they really should be taken off the air as it has been proven time and time again that their ‘version of the news’ is just blatant asinine propaganda. If I not mistaken the same dumb blond woman as per the ‘PBO copying Falin’s bus tour’
Hope the Prez and the 1st Fam have a lovely holiday and hope we get to see loads of pictures of them enjoying themselves just to pizz these people off – get them vexing so bad they’re having a nervous breakdown. ‘sucks teeth’
This is such a great post from PoliticusUSA – Another accomplishment that the media will ignore.
Wonder Woman Explains ObamaCares Unprecedented Focus On Women
How do you like this?! That bum in the White House who does nothing for nobody ever and is obviously, as I’ve been warned repeatedly by concerned commenters, someone who needs to be investigated for his Passport to Pakistan, has gone and done something for women never done before – he has ordered the first ever set of preventive health care regulations focused exclusively on women.
“Previously, preventive services for women had been recommended one-by-one or as part of guidelines targeted at men as well. As such, the HHS directed the independent Institute of Medicine to, for the first time ever, conduct a scientific review and provide recommendations on specific preventive measures that meet women’s unique health needs and help keep women healthy.”
Gee, if I didn’t know better from Fox News, I might think the President had family values by proving he cared for women. But no, let me assure you that he does not care for women as only vessels of children, because the evil Socialist has also mandated that contraception be covered without a copay.
Truthfully, all the President’s campaign has to do is hand out a list of his accomplishments. Then if potential voters would actually read the list, we could all just vote for him now and save some schedule time.
This article about the Tea Party’s unhinged anti-government vision for America is just horrifying. Reading this article should be enough to convince any American to never vote for a Republican candidate again. This is the kind of reporting we need to see more of to educate and inform the public for the 2012 elections.
House bills give a glimpse into the tea party’s vision for America
This is scary stuff Ladyhawke, new dynamic is right.
I read this yesterday, from someone who spent 2 years in the T-party
What I Learned in Two Years at the Tea Party:
The Tea Party is no longer about economics, not that it ever solely was. At the larger rallies and for the cameras (CNN or laptop), they hold forth about founding fathers, liberty, spending, deficits, TARP, kicking cans down roads, taxes, living within means and fiscal responsibility. But when the lights are off, it’s all about Jesus, with “God” thrown in, on occasion for Israel.
I’m still reading the article, ChristiMtl, but this part hit me: “… the Tea Party ‘is not a group of listen and respond; this is a group of respond and respond.'”
Remember when the big bulbous Iowa tea party jerk approached President Obama this week, and (I think I recall) before walking away, President Obama said something like, “You’re not interested in listening.”
Thinking people talk and listen. It’s Using Your Brain 101.
Sorry, but another good excerpt: “The Tea Party movement was crafted for yahoos just like Simac, a small fry local leader who wants to jump the painstaking and character-testing traditional steps of campaigning to instead surf a wave of anger to fame and renown.”
I believe Holperin beat out Simac in the Wisconsin recall election on Tuesday.
Kasai, thanks for the Scott Brown protest video. That was fantastic to watch. Power of the people, by the people, and of the people; I love seeing democracy at work. How dare he not hold a townhall or a Q&A session since being elected into office in 2010? Now he holds a fundraiser with his uber wealthy pals and ignores the working people. He seems to forget MA is a blue state and he will be kicked out in 2012. Teddy’s seat needs to be re-claimed by a real democrat who fights for the people as he did. At moments like these in politics, the intrasigence of the republicans, and the blame Obama democrats in congress and elsewhere, I really really really miss Teddy. He would have straightened his colleagues out on the double.
UT, I don’t live in MA but if Elizabeth Warren runs, I will donate at least $100 dollars to her campaign fund. She is a scrappy fighter and I think the people understand who interests scott is concerned about.
Also, guys remember scott brown begging for donations from a koch brother.
I liked the one with the little girl holding on to his finger and the one where he is reading a statement. The tall slender figure of our president. Sometimes when I look at him, the way he stands sometimes, reminds me of Jimmy Stewart’s “Mr Smith goes to Washington”.
WOW!!! He’s so great! I like that statement he makes at the end of the video. It says volumes about his approach to most things. “I’m not gonna throw it I was just want to catch it!”
as a person who has Uganda in her very core, i can tell you that Luzira Prison to which this guy was taken is the nation’s only Maximum Security prison where the worst of the worst is imprisoned.
I try to wave off Coburn since he had a good relationship with then-Senator Obama. But his “frail elderly” quote is absolutely appalling. That’s something I can’t forgive. These people need to get out of our faces, big time.
Wonder if Coburn took care of his own mother or father at home.
Just sent Coburn’s comment to the AARP. Maybe they’ll address it, in an op-ed or something. I (thankfully) was able to take care of my Mother at home, but some medical conditions – and the resources of families – make that prohibitive. But – that’s okay – according to Coburn, “frail elderly” don’t need Medicare or Medicaid.
Good idea. I called his DC office and registered complaint re his irresponsible rhetoric. The gun comment I was told he apologized for. I asked his staff person to repeat the apology to me as I had not seen record of it. Total non-apology and I asked her to pass on my negative response. I also brought up his racially charged comments about the President and the programs that provided him with advantage. I asked for references and documentation that supported his remarks. Not available…so I asked her to pass on my disgust
for his commentary, and the character flaws that he has illuminated in himself. She was nice, and I thought I articulated my feelings very well….but man I was pissed when I got off the phone…my little gut was churning, and I was pacing. I am glad I don’t anger easily….for others as well as myself 😯
Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer responds to the disingenuous op-ed in USA Today by Speaker In Name Only John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Fair warning, you will want to take a shower after reading their op-ed. It is just astonishing that they were able to write such pure dreck. The op-ed is insulting to the intelligence of the American people. These guys need to be run out of office on a rail. Unbelievable.
That Scott Brown video was indeed a thing of beauty! I loved the contrast between the real people in the protest group and the people at his function. They were all the same…..white, rich, bored…..what a contrast to the involved, mixed group of protesters. Power to the people!
In yet another example of disturbing rhetoric from the GOP, yesterday Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) intimated that he’d like to threaten physical violence against his Senate colleagues, saying, “It’s just a good thing I can’t pack a gun on the Senate floor.
Nice, the kind of rhetoric people expect from elected officials.
They are bullies, they love to act tough because they have nothing, no wonder Perry is already ahead in the latest poll.
Thanks for his twitter acct. Here’s my tweet : @TomCoburn says “It’s just a good thing I can’t pack a gun on the Senate floor.” You’re a Dr. Can you still say the words Hippocratic Oath?
The President now has over 22.5 million Facebook supporters, that’s half a million in a month. Granted, it includes non-Americans and people too young to vote. But still shows how important social media is going to be in this election cycle.
I’m feeling encouraged about people finally realizing how dangerous the Republicans have become. The President has been adding supporters at an increased rate since the debt ceiling issue. Also, there was a gentleman at the Minnesota town hall who thanked the President for all he has done and pointed out the extroadinarily difficult circumstances he faces (huge applause from the crowd). Finally, the Teabaggers and all their craziness are being brought to national attention.
My goodness. Maxine Waters and the rest of the CBC, especially Cleaver ( of the satan sandwich) and Conyers are just getting on my nerves. Waters was on Morning Joe this morning and it was all calling out and blaming the President. First they played a clip of Waters in Detroit where she was saying that the President hadn’t done anything for the black community – As an African-American, this highly offends me – that the CBC has been the one pushing the black community’s agenda and they still “love” the President but he’s taking the CBC and black people for granted but they’re still “sticking” with him; if black people tell them to abandon the President, then they’ll abandon him in a jiffy. Then people began screaming “abandon him, abandon him! We’ve had enough!” and Maxine began smiling. It was sickening the way she was riling up those poor, frustrated people who were out of work and turning their frustration on the one person who is valiantly fighting tooth and nail for them. For the CBC to throw PBO under the bus like this? Disgusting. Willie Geist with a smirk on his face, because he just looved the fact that black people were angry with President Obama and Maxine was on to really stick it to PBO, asked her if she felt the President had abandoned the black community. She said she felt that he was treating the CBC unfairly. That whenever he has discussions about jobs, he never invites them or talks to them so he can get their opinions on the best jobs for black people. This is a categorical lie. PBO has had many discussions and forums with the CBC talking to them about the economy, jobs, housing, healthcare and a whole host of other issues. His Housing and Urban (HUD) Director Shaun Donovan has been going into black and hispanic communities, talking with local councils to make sure minorities have affordable housing and safe communities. Wes Moore asked Waters how she felt that President Obama on his 3 day economic tour only visited white midwestern communities and not places like Detroit. What? He visited rural farming communities. Those people are suffering also. The purpose of the tour was to highlight the rural council he created, so that agriculture and farming communities are highlighted and commended for the value they bring to our tables. He didn’t go galivanting around to to uber wealthy communities. He answered questions, joined forums where they talked about how they could improve the jobs outlook and the economy overall. Waters said she was disappointed that he didn’t come into any black communities. She then held up a WSJ article with the title “Obama Courts White Voters and Disregards Black People.” or something like that. Mind you, WSJ is a conservative newspaper. Of course they’re going to print a salacious headline that makes it seem like PBO has abandoned the black community. Waters then pointed at the article and said even the WSJ sees that PBO is taking the black community for granted. She said they weren’t complaining or slamming the President or looking for media attention, but that they’re the ones going to various cities, holding job fairs and listening to people. Well Duh, you’re the CBC, this is what you people do. Now you want a pat on the back for doing your job? Your congressmembers. You’re all supposed to go out, hold meetings, townhalls, and talk to your collective constituents. She made it sound like PBO was sitting on his behind, doing nothing. Alex Wagner then asked her what kind of jobs does she think PBO can talk about that are specific to black people? Wagner said that PBO has been championing green jobs, technology, and innovation. Waters then countered that those ideas haven’t gone anywhere. That they haven’t left the drawing board. What utter nonsense. What crock! PBO has championed and put money into renewable energy, green jobs and technology that have yielded fruitful results. We only had 2% of advanced battery production, now with PBO’s investment we’re on track to produce over 40% of the world’s advanced battery production. We’re already seeing jobs in the green sectior. Retrofitting farm equipments so they are more environmentally friendly. Building solar panels. Increasing fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks. Automobile companies like GM and Chrysler are already increasing their production of hybrid and environmentally friendly automobiles and exports have vastly increased. If I know these facts at the tip of my fingers, why the hell does a congressional member not know this? Last I checked black people are more than qualified for these jobs. All people are more than qualified for these jobs. Waters solution for jobs that are specific to black people are that banks and big companies should stop using call centers in India and bring those call centers back to America and hire black people. Really? That’s what she thinks black people are qualified for? Working at call centers? At least President Obama envisions better for us. He envisions 21st century jobs that can better all people, put more money in their pockets and lift them from one socioeconomic level to a higher one.
Maxine Waters and the CBC are rightfully getting a backlash from people on twitter. You don’t throw your guy under the bus. If you had a problem with the job the President is doing, you could have emailed him or called to set up an appointment to sit down and discuss your concerns with him, instead of going to the salacious media and treating him like your whipping boy. Now all media will be playing this exchange and all the other exchanges on the CBC tour where they bash President Obama. Just bloody great. Jerks.
Thanks so much Ut! and WOW, this is so disgusting, there’s no words. Did she mentioned the teabaggers in Congress at all? the do nothing GOP who block and block any initiative for job growth??? Or all the bills that died in the Senate when they had the majority in the house. Did she or she only blamed the President?
Isn’t this broad under some sort of investigation? Please. At the end of the day- these mofos have in been in their safe districts (Rangel, etc) for decades- and they DO NOTHING to advance the cause of black people- never have and never will. She was the one who directed TARP money to a bank owner she knew (I think it was her husbands). so basically she can fuck off:)
It’s one thing for Smiley and West to act like d**ks, it’s particularly awful when a member of Congress acts the same way.
Speaking of d**ks — Mitch Danels on c-span this morning. Wow. Just wow.
You freeloading Social Security recipients — you’re being ‘coddled’ by the government.
I had to leave to take my senior husband to the doctor, to get the health care he paid for his entire life so I didn’t see Daniels’ whole sorry display of hate.
they need to shut down the CBC for good. They don’t do chyt and haven’t done chyt compared to the President;all the do is bytch and moan and whine and accuse the President. What a bunch of traitors. When was the last time a Republican President did chyt for black folks?
these idiots aren’t getting a minute of the President’s busy day much like “brothers” Corny and Tavis so they are getting out of pocket!
amen fred! That so called caucus does absolutely nothing! I guess they, like Tavis and his lover West, thought that with a black president, we would be having a black revolution with Tavis and West and the CBC in constant contact with PBO and the WH and pushing nothing but the so called ‘black agenda’— what the fuck is that anyway?– but instead, PBO is governing everybody and trying to make the economy right for everybody instead of just black folks. I think they are just opportunist. They expected that with PBO as leader of the free world, they would be taken into the fold and be close to the WH and have higher profiles, but since they aren’t (cause they are useless opportunists who have done nothing for the supposed black Americans they say they represent) they are now taking their anger and jealousy out on him. You would think with all the things that bind us, petty little things like jealousy and envy wouldn’t tear us apart, but apparently, not. The few black folks that the CBC and those idiots Tavis and West manage to turn will not crater the majority of votes PBO will get from the AA community. PBO will also have the Hispanics, Whites, the elderly, young voters and the rest of us who have been working for him and supporting him these last 2.5 years. In terms of the black community, when push comes to shove, i honestly believe, even if they aren’t entirely pleased with his record on jobs for blacks, they will still vote for him over anyone else. Waters and her nasty ilk can go fuck themselves.
I forgot to add ingrates as well and thieves too.Every year they take millions of $ from Haitians to do “work” for them and these folks see nothing.
How do I know? I was sent to Haiti by the U.N a few years ago in my late teens during the Embargo imposed by Bill Clinton (black folks best friend and first “black” President 🙄 ) and since I speak French amongst other languages I was there for 6 months.
I can’t find 1 school;1 small clinic much less a hospital or 1 fucking water well to show all the “work” they’ve done with all that $ .Fuck them 🙄
Standing ovation for you, Lisa. I’ve been tweeting all morning about these grifters. I even called my Rep Andre Carson who is a member of CBC and told his office I want this issue addressed and I want a follow up call. I will call his office again to make sure.
Pres Obama got elected because of his skills and what he wanted to do for the country. He worked hard, something the CBC knows nothing about. He didn’t get any help from them. They supported Hillary. They have been around for 40 years and what have they done to help AAs? Not a damn thing.
Now we have a smart, caring President who wants to lift up everyone, and they try to undermine him. I’ve had it with this. I’ve had it with the racism from folks like Coburn.
I know we are working on a plan for how to deal with the media and such starting in Sept. Please, please people lets work on this while PBO is on his much needed vacation so we can be ready to go into action.
Was it on Donna’s facebook page?
Oh, and someone on WEE SEE You said Maxine Waters needs a new wig. Ha!
I shouldn’t write this, I’m old enough to know better, but Maxine Troubled Waters needs to watch the Steve Harvey video where he tells Tavis and Cornell that the President is too busy running the country to sit with their ___ ___ for three days and chat!
The president can only sign what Congress brings to his desk. Instead of blowing all the hot air, the CBC needs to shut up and get to work writing a jobs bill that will pass both houses and that President Obama can sign.
The president can only sign what Congress brings to his desk. Maxine and the rest of the blowhard CBC need to SHUT UP and get to work writing a jobs bill that will pass both houses and that Pres. Obama can sign.
Thank you isonprize. From the EXECUTIVE BRANCH, President Obama is doing all that he can to help create jobs for the American people. Look at all of the public/private partnerships he has arranged. The jobs council that he set up. It’s amazing what the administration has done WITHOUT THE HELP OF CONGRESS. The best thing about these public/private partnership deals is that they can not be filibustered.
I have lost all respect for the CBC, Maxine Waters, John Conyers and their ilk. They have perfected the art of the circular firing squad. Exactly what is supposed to be accomplished by backstabbing the most amazing advocate the American people have ever had. How is this helpful? Quite simply, it is catnip for the media. And of course, it’s a gift to the GOP and the haters. This is just unforgivable.
Anyone else notice that soon she is going to be facing her ethics probe in Congress? She’s trying to draw attention from herself. But know this, those same people she went to talk to on Morning Joe, will be the same one picking her apart.
My grandmom used to say careful how you treat others. When you point one finger at somebody, you have three more pointing at yourself.
Good luck to Maxine Waters. She will need it when her own name is puddled through the press soon.
Thanks for the summary, UT. Maxine Waters has always seemed to be more interested in her camera time than actually doing something for her constituents. Well, she’s just thrown herself off of the President’s coat-tails. I can’t stand what she’s doing – and she should know better.
My question to her is what can she point to as advances under the previous Presidents, especially Clinton, but also any Republican President? And what does she think black people will get from a President Romney, Bachmann, Perry (things will be MUCH worse under a President Perry, if what he’s done to Texas is anything to go by), or any of the others.
She needs to stop lying, and start doing some homework to tell people the truth about what the President has done.
Calling the CBC today in Mass @ 12:15 1-202-22502201 Please join us. The bashing of the President must stop or will advocate for better AA Dem challengers.
I can’t believe these people. they are so disgusting! I called and told her I’d be advocating for a challenger to her and that I’d be donating a lot of money to said challenger because of her hit piece against the president this morning on Jokes show.
I guess they (Boehner and Cantor) don’t realize that they themselves have been on vacation for two weeks now, and have been taking a week off every three weeks for the entire year. These people make me sick. They see this as a game, an adolescent game. Well, given that they’ve passed less than 20 bills this year, most of which were naming post offices, it’s a really pathetic display of “leadership”.
Exactly theo. There is no seriousness of purpose and no leadership with these clowns. And thanks for making the point again about the diminished schedule in the House of Representatives since the Republicans took the majority. We have divided government, but the Republican majority in the House gets a pass and the media blames President Obama for everything.
The 112th DO NOTHING CONGRESS
Two weeks on, one week off in shorter 2011 House schedule
Great, any network or cable station that finds it necessary to report on the Republican Party and media obsession with PBO taking some time off needs to explain to the public that at this same time in their presidency Pres. GW Bush had taken 180 days vacation and Pres. Reagan had taken 112.
So President Obama has taken about 60 days vacation in a little over two and a half years. Meanwhile, he has been working harder than Pres. Bush or Pres Reagan to improve the economy and help create jobs. No president has had to have this much scrutiny of his every move. No matter what PBO does the GOP and the MSM will find fault with it.
He is the leader of the free world and he is carrying the world on his shoulders. The very nature of his job takes him away from his family. He is entitled to relax and recharge with his wife and daughters. This manufactured controversy is just silly and embarrassing.
It is such a ridiculous argument from every angle. The President never stops working as he like a Doctor is on call 24/7. Like any well functioning person, balance is essential to your well being, Why the hell do we eat, sleep, and exercise..to recharge our batteries. Vacation falls into that category. The President is a master juggler, his family is still a priority and a responsiblity…Americans have no right to interfere with that aspect of his life…in fact if some would shut up and pay attention to the Obama family the might learn a thing or two that they can apply to their own familial relationships. And they need to put this vacation in context….and then they need to STFU.
This video is good way to start you day. So happy to see the Texas Democrats release it. If you are in Texas, feeling powerless and discouraged, get in touch with OFA today, he Dems are fighting back.
these are the people criticizing the president? Oh, thank you god, hallelujah! I’m so glad PBO has managed to steer clear of these corrupt, morally bankrupted opportunists! Can’t wait to here what Rev. Al will have to say about Waters and the sellout hit job she did this morning! I hope people are hammering her on twitter.
First the media intentionally ignored the video of Obama supporters in Detroit telling Tavis Smiley and Cornel West to take their traveling road show and leave. Even though Maxine Waters has always had a big mouth, this whole thing looks staged to me by MSNBC, like the Town Hall President Obama did with CNBC, that brought us Velma Hart. Racist NBC has a thing for the stereotypical angry black woman, and they have a thing for wanting President Obama to be be the stereotypical angry black man by always questioning his lack of emotion.
The way the CBC, Democrats in general, allow themselves to be used by the media to attack President Obama as the only way they can get attention for themselves are a disgrace.
This is both sickening and very sad. PO and Coburn entered the Senate together and both have talked many times about their differences, but how they became good friends and worked together on some very important bi-partisan things. I am making a prediction right now today–August 18–that before the campaign is over, PO will HAVE to give another major speech on race/racism. I’ve been saying that privately for months, but now it’s “out in the open.”
I think Tom Coburn should prepare himself for an ass whipping……what a F’in jackass. I am calling, not a tweeter, will write his office as well.
I have to say despite the imbalance in the MSM, and the hair on fire approaches by every attention seeking special interest group….President Obama’s change is creeping across the nation. People are standing up, and pushing back and they are pushing back on the political machinations and routine strategies of yesterday’s politics. People are recognizing that the wasy President Obama conducts himself, approaches problems and addresses conflicts is the new and better way of doing business. I think perceptive people recognize this, and are increasingly eager to embrace it. President Obama is change and brought change even before stepping foot in the WH.
What Americans struggle with is their own fear of change, resistance to new approaches, and an inability to recognize it as we are in transition. They will know it in hindsight, as they currently can not see the forrest through the trees.
We should continue to reinforce his style of politics, through our voices, our donations, and our actions….don’t rest on fears, we all have them from time to time, don’t let yourself be overwhelmed, which we all do from time to time. Accept reality, look for the ooportunities in the obstacles, allow your emotions to flow, and always find the positive to focus on. Today I am struck by how incredibly amazing this period in history is, and what opportunities exist for us to be a stronger, more united and prosperous country. President Obama is owed most of the credit, but we and the likes of us all across America are going to be an important and intregal element to that success. I’m in, all the way, and know that we can get this done.
Somebody should send this to the crooked Black Caucus and Maxine Waters. But she’s too busy attacking the President – she and Coburn make a helluva pair.
I wrote Maxine Waters a letter yesterday about her mean spirited words that I heard on a program yesterday. She sport with bitterness in her spirit and voice. I expressed to her the shameless manner in which she was speaking about the President, and I did not appreeciate it. I also told her that I will continue to put those in this Black Caucus on notice just as she put the President of the United States on notice. I also told here that her mean and disripted spirited would accomplish nothing to move the President, but she could get up off of her lazy behind and maybe get a bus ot two and ride through LA and do some good work beside running off with the mouth disease that she and Tavis Smiley and Dr. West seem to very good at doing while we need to come together with a more gentle and workable spirit to solve the problems that so many families are going through at this time. Shut the loud screaming at the President, Mrs. Water, because this citizen will not tolerate it anymore. HZ
HZ …I needed some guidance, you provided it…I will join in the calls to the CBC office, I now feel better able to articulate what needs to be said.
I was not surprised to hear that you were an educator….you continue to broaden and enhance our perspectives here, everyday. Bless you for all the lives you have impacted in such a positive way…and that includes mine.
Waters, Tavis,Corny etal are suffering from the same disease that caused some members of our family to alert “ole Massa” when they got wind of other family members planning to bolt for freedom.
I am at home today and just getting started. I will get on twitter and do my RT. This really makes me mad. Thanks everyone for all the news. It’s a beautiful day here in MT.
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi responds to the PURE DRECK in the Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Cantor op-ed in USA Today.
Lost in Translation: The Boehner-Cantor Op-Ed
====================================
In today’s USA Today, Speaker Boehner and Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor co-author an op-ed which misses the mark completely – ignoring jobs and defending the GOP’s ideological agenda to end Medicare and cut Social Security for our working families while protecting tax breaks and loopholes for Big Oil and companies that ship American jobs overseas.
.
.
Bottom line: No amount of newspaper ink can change the GOP’s No Jobs record.
In case you missed it, check out Leader Pelosi’s August 4th op-ed in USA Today on House Democrats’ commitment to job creation. No translation necessary.
Since the unemployment rate is horrendous for the Black community at large and budget cuts are hurting many of the same Americans, I decided to look up where the CBC was represented in certain committees that are most crucial now. You know the committees were most legislation starts.
First stop, the Education and Workforce committee:
The committee has hardly any Black representation….. 40 members in this committee total and 2 Black members Rep. Donald Payne NJ and Rep Bobby Scott VA:
And yet somehow 40 jobs bills touted by the CBC have been blocked by Republicans, with hardly any CBC representation on the Education/Workforce committee to begin with and yet it is the President’s fault.
so then I look up the Budget committee. Much uproar has been made up about cuts, caving in, etc.
So I go check out the Budget Committee. 38 members, 2 Black members, Rep Gwen Moore WI and Rep. Karen Bass CA. **Ms. Bass is a freshman House lawmaker btw, was just elected in 2010.
So I pose a question to Rep. Maxine Waters and others. Just like your. “why isn’t the President going to Black communities?”, why aren’t CBC members staking up deep in those committees that are most crucial to our communities now. I see quite a bit of PBO’s critics are stacked up in the Financial services committee though,
I just called that witch’s office in DC., and this little jerk told me to wait, and I said heck no. Then he said ,”Will you wait, because we have been getting a lot of phone calls today..” I told him heck no, but I will continue to get my message out to her. And you can count on that, young man. He was not happy. Putting somebody on hold, on hell no. Not this morning. I have had enough of her anyway. Will not sit back and allow these fools to continue to bash and at every stop still trying to stop this President instead of getting off of there behinds and doing some work like he is working his behind off for these sorry ass Dems. Sick of their arses. Apologize TOD family. I will call again up to my dinner date.
“The time when a black man worked without rest and vacation are long gone. President Obama is NOT your slave you haters”
Exactly. Notice, also, last time there was “full employment” of black folk was during slavery as well. Today we have black folk hollering about PBO not doing enough for them, that unemployment is higher now under PBO. Duh, like it is for everybody now. And black folks have always had twice the unemployment as the country on a whole. Also, we make the least amount of money. So how is now any different? I tell you, folks voted for him because he was black and they thought he would be their saviour. Some whites did so because they thought it cool. Many others were tired of Bush and his ilk. So that just leaves the rest of us who actually heard him and realized we would all have to work long and hard to change things around; we understand process; we know atleast a working knowledge of political history. This all just proves the infantile mindset present in America, which even foreigners are flummoxed to understand..
edp4bho – Agree with your post. For those of us who voted for Barack Obama because of his personal characteristics and skills set, turns out we got what the others thought they wanted (from your post): he is the rescuer of all people of good will who wanted to vote for a person who could actually lead our country; he is cool; we remain tired of Bush and his ilk; we have his back and he’s someone we can work with; if we don’t know the process, he shows us, and – finally – we now all have a greatly enhanced knowledge of political history and history-in-the-making!
It’s all good. Well, for those of us who get it. I have no idea what the naysayers are getting out of any of their BS.
OMG globalcitizen! You spoke the words right out of my mouth! I’ve been saying this to people for the last several days! These RACISTS are SUICIDAL over the fact that a Black man is President and their comments harken back to when slaves worked from “can’t seen in the morning to can’t see at night.” They’re doing their usual of ignoring the facts in regard Bush’s “vacations,” though in my opinion his ass was on vacation for eight years, spouting their racist rhetoric even further by vomiting about not only when he should vacation, but where and how dare he take vacations at all! These racist attitudes are DEEP SEEDED and have never left us. When a politician uses a centuries old racist term like “Tar Baby” when referring to the President, you know that these ugly attitudes have never left us.
It feels so good just to type out “you haters,” doesn’t it! Yeah!
Rather than the awful (dangerous) sign held up during the President’s bus tour which read, “Debt Man Walking,” I’m virtually holding up a sign today that says:
U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles) called on President Obama on Thursday to pay more attention to black Americans, saying she and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus are “not just frustrated with the president -– communities are hurting.”
“The economy, the loss of jobs, the pain is real. We’re talking about indisputable facts,” she said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
The comments piggybacked on remarks Waters made at a Detroit town-hall meeting on jobs two days ago, when she said the CBC was “getting tired” of continuing to support Obama as the economy continued to struggle.
As a former Californian, I have grown to dislike Maxine Waters over the years. I didn’t live in the inner city so I had a ring side seat to her governance. I believe she keeps her seat because the party can’t find anyone to run against her.
So she is getting tired of supporting Obama; maybe Mitt is her kind of guy, how about Huntsman.
When California received stimulus money she was absent during the distribution. After the funds were gone she blamed the president for Compton not receiving funds.
So she thinks the president should have a Black Agenda while the whole country is suffering unemployment, foreclosures, and a republican run house. Black unemployment is always higher than the national average this is a shame, but don’t blame the president. The president is trying to pull the nation out of a ditch, what is she and the CBC doing to help him out!!
Maxine is a Clintonite who can’t get over Hillary isn’t president.
I don’t tweet but can the fact of her missing out on the funds for Compton be tweeted? Or atleast, can I repeat this on WeeSeeYou? They will really let her have it.
Also, someone at WSY suggested she is getting paid by someone to bash PBO in light of her being up on ethics charges. It seems strange to me as well that those charges are not being pursued as aggressively as when they were first revealed. Can we say pay-off?
10:15 am pacific time – I called Rep. Water’s office and told the guy who answered the phone that I don’t appreciate Waters going on national tv to spit unfounded unreasonable attacks and complaints against Pres. Obama, she wants publicity she can do it many other ways. I’ve had it with this woman.
Thanks for providing her and the others’ phone numbers also.
This is my first post here, so. Just want to say Hi to everybody. Have a great Thursday all.
What I wrote in my post previously “I’ve had it with this woman (Waters)” was expressed in the passion of the moment, I really shouldn’t have written them down here, but I was just so angry with how she was unfairly blasting the president. I did express my concerns forcefully but respectfully to the guy at her office. My role model in being reasonable and level-headed in any conversation is the president himself. I want to emulate his classy demeanor even, or especially in the midst of disagreement. agree to disagree without being disagreeable-these are his words.
I sent Waters an email, and I call her office and spoke to this young lady. We had a good talk, I told her that I was not please with Rep. Waters and what she said. I told the young lady, what didn’t Rep. Waters go to the President, or someone in the administration and talk to them, instead of going on Morning Joe running her mouth. I told her I have lost all respect I had for Rep. Walters. This President is working his butt off to trying get this economy going, to get jobs, but instead of going after the T-Republicans, who is blocking every darn thing, she sits on tv putting down the President. I didn’t like it, I don’t like it. I told the young lady, why don’t Waters go on Limbaugh and trash the President. Now if some Blacks don’t come out to vote in 2012, and it allow one of these crazy ass Republican to get the WH, Rep. Waters can thank herself.
So she thinks the president should have a Black Agenda while the whole country is suffering unemployment, foreclosures, and a republican run house. Black unemployment is always higher than the national average this is a shame
It is a shame….
but i think that President can deal with this criticism by pointng out how his policies impact onthe Black Community…
how his policies and plans dovetail with the Black Agend….
just like the health care debate…he has to be incontrol of the message…give folks talking points…just as he did on this jobs road trip
because 17% unemployment abmong black teens is not acceptable….
Yeah that’s him. He’s supposed to be PBO’s friend. They both came into the senate at the same time. Even though they were on opposite sides of the political aisle, they personally liked each other. Worked together on bi-partisan legislation. They basically became friends because they respected each other. So for him to make that inflammatory statement about PBO was disgusting.
It was very opportunistic, and I suspect for political advantage as he was directly addressing his constiuents. I think it is shameful….President Obama has provided all these politicians with a more effective and respectful model of how to engage, how to effectively exchange ideas and how to compromise. The wise will see it as an opportunity to make self assessments and self adjustments.
They will be the change.
Yes, you are correct. I talked about this in a post this morning. They entered the Senate at the same time and worked together on a number of things. I think one of the main ones being nuclear proliferation.
God Bless you, Mr. President, and your beautiful, loving family. May you all find the rest and solace you so truly deserve.
Amen to that!
YES.WE.CAN…DO.(Much)More, Together!
The next ten days on the Internets are going to be UNBEARABLE. Watch the Village turn the stupid to 11.
Amen Walking on Sunshine.
I will pray in agreement with you GGail. Amen.
Oh, that was my comment that came up as “anonymous”, maybe I don’t get this comment posting stuff yet? Any tips?
“…The President likes to write on vacation, I suspect he’ll largely write his jobs/economy address while away…”
And, I wonder what will he be readin’ on this “getaway?” 😉
YES.WE.CAN…DO.(Much)More, Together!
I agree with his strategy…you have to do that…let the people hear form him sirectely …not sifted thru the media and pundits
And if he didn’t take a vacation, they’d be saying he was cruel to his family and had no interest in his daughters.
Does this b.s. even work for them anymore? I mean, is some ‘independent (read: low information voter) even buy this stuff? I think not.
If you can stand it:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-joe-walsh-profile-20110817,0,1872985.story
If Walsh was my Congressman, I would be so shame to claim him. He ought to be kick out of Congress for not taking care of his kids.
Thanks for this dotster. Off to tweet it. 🙂
If Melissa Bean hadn’t run from the President, Walsh wouldn’t be in Congress.
Just imagine if the Dem’s had embraced ACA, GM and all of Obama’s accomplishments, educated their constituents instead of letting their lack of facts run the narrative.
Bean acted like an idiot and a weak one too ;that’s why she lost
This iis the tragedy of it all…why weren’t they (THE DEMOCARATS) proud of their accomplishments…they ran scared….i agree…they allowed the media and the TP/Repubs to control the message….
The President…has learned that…you have to be in control of the message…..his message is Jobs…he has defined the battle of taxes…that the wealthy should pay their fair share…every one …esp the middle class knows that the tax rate is not fair….ask anyone on the street….
this is one of the narratives that the presiident has defined….
another is to set the stage for what gets cut …and that providing jobs and growing the economy and investing in our future does not have to be sacrificed in the name of deficit reduction…and he said that we cannot turn our backs on those who are struggling
when he spoke to that college student at the town hall meeting yesterday…he talked about education and having our children being prepared for the future…
the democrats need to echo these talking points….
to embrace this…to talk about the bills that are ready to be passed….the bills that the president has spoken about in this bus tour….
it will be interesting to see how many democrats support the president…instead of bashing or remaining quiet…..
i love that video…in which the folks are taking it to their reps…just as the President asked….
more of us need to do the same…
FIREDDDDDDDDDD UP…..READY TO GO!!
To quote Maxine — ‘unconscionable’.
That’s been my suspicion. I would have preferred Obama announce it while on the bus tour.
The good news: all it will be is tax breaks for the wealthy anyway, from Repubs.
Bottom line: I have no worry about the possibility of the GOP unveiling a “jobs plan” while the President is on vacation.
in the time that the TP/Repubs have been in control of the house…they have not introduced one jobs bill….not one….
so as you say it would be rather surprising if they introduced a jobs bill…
Plus, remember that some people in our country (Democrats, included) have the attention span of a gnat. So, if the Republicans put out a one- or two-page jobs plan now and the President puts out a masterful jobs plan in September (if that’s his intent – can’t recall if that’s been confirmed by the White House, the only source I believe), that’ll give us a couple of weeks to laugh at the R plan and then appreciate the President’s more.
Hope you could follow that! 🙂
I’ve heard that it is a very substantive plan with a lot of things not yet discussed. So yes — it should be great.
It would also be an advantage if Obama reveals his plan in a prime time address, the bully pulpit and all that.
………………..meet me in D.C. that is. 😉
What UT said. Hang in there Keith. We’re in this together.
What UT and Doris said,
Thanks Ut that sounds like a plan. Gosh you folks are like therapy. 😀
Dedicated to Keith…and all my TOD Family with much love and gratitude for allowing me to be part of it.
Kasai, my comment went downthread or I hit the wrong reply button because I’m dancing.
AWESOME KASAI…WE ARE MOST CERTAINLY FAMILY! THANKS FOR THE AMAZING VIDEO!!!! GREAT WAY TO START A THURSDAY!
Kasai, thanks for posting this great song. I have always thought of this place as a family.
Thankyou HZ. Beautiful sentiments. Your prayers and engaging thoughts are always welcomed. Thanks again. 😉
LOL Scott Brown gets serenaded by 500+hecklers
Scott Brown gets heckled by bullhorned activists….A thing of Beauty to Watch….Democrats are starting to wake up!!!
Kasai, that was really something, as you say, a thing of beauty. He looked like a stupid fool. I’m glad they got in his face. YES.WE.CAN!!!!
I’ll bet he is nervous about Elizabeth. I am so looking forward to the shake-up that is coming.
Has Elizabeth Warren said she’d run? Oh I hope so!!!!
She’s exploring the possibility. She’s meeting with people and voters.
She’d be a fabulous senator, but I worry about her as a candidate. A whole different skill set.
You welcome Gail….We’re on the move…..This Country need PBO…more than He needs us…and people are starting to listen closely
Girl, this takes me back. Wow, dancing. 😀 Haha, love this. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol…they don’t make song with true meaning..and have you dancing at the same time anymore..glad I lifted those dancing feet of y…
ours…:-)
My neighbors downstairs probably think I’m having a party above their heads. Thanks.
FANTASTIC!
Fabulous and like Kasai said “a thing if beauty!”

None needed sweetie, have a good one too!!!!!!
No problem, kasai, because I’m turning in too. 🙂 Sweet dreams to all and to all a good night!
Have a wonderful relaxing vacation with your family Mr President!
============================

No problem ut, we family. It’s a labor of love.

Fox News Claims that Obama is on Vacation More than George W. Bush
=======================================================

my pleasure UT.Good morning 😉
Good Morning Fred, good to see the information you posted. Thanks so much. Also thanks for your upbeat tone in your comments. You are such a blessing. Have a great day, and Fred, I am drinking my water. Thanks. Love you back very much, HZ

Bachmann Promises $2 Gas Like We Had During Global Recession
http://thinkprogress.org/green/2011/08/17/298386/bachmann-promises-2-gas-like-we-had-during-global-recession/
Bachmann is an idiot!!!!!!!!!! What universe is she living in???
It’s okay, Fred. All President Obama has to do is promise health care reform. Oh, wait, he did that already. Next!
WOW……………Bachmann goinng to any lengths to get the nomination. I hope the public is not that gullible to fall for that. You used to appropriate name to describe her Fred.
Good morning TOD family,
I can’t wait to read UT recap of MJ. A lot of people on Twitter are not happy with Maxine Waters this morning. I can just imagine what she said on the show.
Good morning TOD friends. What did Maxine Waters do and say? She always find a way to bash PBO. I remember she was a big Hillary supporter.
I want to know what she had to say also, because if I do not like it she will be hearing from me. Before I go after her I will see what she said.
I notice it is the two who have ethics charges against them, Waters and Conyers, who are the most outspoken.
It appeard that Ms. Waters is complaining about PBO not coming to the black neighborhoods. Here’s a video.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/08/17/top_black_dem_were_supportive_of_the_president_but_were_getting_tired.html
Whose neighborhoods? Smiley’s and West’s?
Ludicrous.
Firedddddddddd UP….Ready to Go
MSNBC is having a field day with Maxine.
‘sucks teeth’

oops that was a reply to Ladyhawke
WELL HELLO…MR. BROWN…YOUR FLASH MOB IN YOUR MIRROR IS IN TOWN! THIS…IS A PIECE OF ART!!!!! NOW…IF THEY CAN FIND THE KOCH BOYS…THEY NEED SOME MUSIC!
Yes, you read that right.
http://www.politicususa.com/en/wonder-woman-obamacares-women
Obama Cares!
House bills give a glimpse into the tea party’s vision for America
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/how-the-tea-party-influence-is-creating-a-new-dynamic-in-the-house/2011/08/11/gIQAkvf0KJ_story.html
But when the lights are off, it’s all about Jesus, with “God” thrown in, on occasion for Israel.
http://www.theawl.com/2011/08/what-i-learned-in-two-years-at-the-tea-party
Character tested = Priceless.
Yahoo!
Pete Souza’s new July pictures 😀

Thank you Fred. I love that pic of our VP and our president.
there are several pictures that will simply melt you.4 with the President that includes children and with the First Lady 😉
Thanks, Fred!
There are some absolute gems in that set. The one with the little girl hugging PBO’s leg is priceless.
Everybody is always smiling and laughing around the Obamas — I’m sure it drives their haters mad!
I liked the one with the little girl holding on to his finger and the one where he is reading a statement. The tall slender figure of our president. Sometimes when I look at him, the way he stands sometimes, reminds me of Jimmy Stewart’s “Mr Smith goes to Washington”.
GORGEOUS new deck. Thank you for your awesome talent, Mr. Souza!!
LOVE, LOVE LOVE the pic with Pres. Obama shaking hands with an adult while the little one is hanging on to his finger!! AWWWWWWWW Just too precious….
Hey Guys VIDEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO- sorry I’m a tad bit happy- Here is the pres from the pep talk he had with the football team http://www.cnn.com/video/?/video/us/2011/08/17/obama.football.pool
nothing wrong with being happy LOL 😉
I love PBO’s inspirational speeches to kids. That was a nice video.
That was great. Is he adorable or what? I always get a chuckle when he says “I appreciate ya”. Too cute.
OMG that video brought tears to my eyes. This is what inspiration is.
WOW!!! He’s so great! I like that statement he makes at the end of the video. It says volumes about his approach to most things. “I’m not gonna throw it I was just want to catch it!”
I just want to say how much I like the video on Scott Browm. It was a nice little jam, with a very powerful message. YES! I like that 😀
HA! This is rich:) http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/2011/08/17/2006-flashback-bachmann-staffer-arrested-for-terrorism-in-uganda/
as a person who has Uganda in her very core, i can tell you that Luzira Prison to which this guy was taken is the nation’s only Maximum Security prison where the worst of the worst is imprisoned.
fool;please! 🙄

Bachmann Staffer’s Ties To Uganda’s ‘Kill-Gays’ Bill
http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2011/08/18/298662/bachmann-staffers-ties-to-ugandas-kill-gays-bill/
Sue – Well done!!!!!!!!! Brilliant on your part. Stupid on his to mess with you.
N___ please! Harriet would beat his self-hating ass. Crazy coot!
I know right? 🙄 😆
Right. And Republicans have addressed the needs of the black community for so long, they’re experts. 😦
The ’80s called. They want that high top fade back!! 😆 😆
Tell it Dan…….
Putting Country Before Party
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2011/08/17/putting-country-party
Thanks for this LadyHawke. Just read it and tweeted it.
That Scott Brown video was indeed a thing of beauty! I loved the contrast between the real people in the protest group and the people at his function. They were all the same…..white, rich, bored…..what a contrast to the involved, mixed group of protesters. Power to the people!
Great Picture- Faux news listen to the children…………… http://www.galesburg.com/multimedia/photos/x386665339/Waiting-for-Obama?foto=11&page=0
Now that is a beautiful image!
Chipsticks, you mey consider adding this to your line up of kids I would definitely vote for —– years from now.
as usual children show adults the decent way foward
In yet another example of disturbing rhetoric from the GOP, yesterday Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) intimated that he’d like to threaten physical violence against his Senate colleagues, saying, “It’s just a good thing I can’t pack a gun on the Senate floor.
Nice, the kind of rhetoric people expect from elected officials.
They are bullies, they love to act tough because they have nothing, no wonder Perry is already ahead in the latest poll.
This guy is a DOCTOR. AFter everything that has happened to GGiffords, this is beyond disgusting.
His twitter account is @TomCoburn
Truly, I think Coburn has lost it.
So: I think we’re going to win.
i hope that the President makes it a habit of getting out to see the people….he needs a it ans so do we…
My goodness.
Sorry I couldn’t watch, either. I was too busy just sitting here thinking how coddled I feel by my Social Security EARNINGS.
P.S. Feed me a grape, will ya?
Maybe Maxine Waters needs to check this out: http://www.dems.gov/blog/gop-no-job-clock
they need to shut down the CBC for good.
I’ld like to call her office…need advice as to how best to frame the complaint. Any suggestions?
The president can only sign what Congress brings to his desk. Instead of blowing all the hot air, the CBC needs to shut up and get to work writing a jobs bill that will pass both houses and that President Obama can sign.
The president can only sign what Congress brings to his desk. Maxine and the rest of the blowhard CBC need to SHUT UP and get to work writing a jobs bill that will pass both houses and that Pres. Obama can sign.
What a novel idea. Wonder if Maxine & Co. have thought of that.
Argghhh.
I called and told her I’d be advocating for a challenger to her and that I’d be donating a lot of money to said challenger because of her hit piece against the president this morning on Jokes show.
her LA office is closed so go with the washington one: 202-225-2201
I’m in and will call today with everyone else.

Boehner, Cantor: Mr. President, let’s get to work
By John Boehner and Eric Cantor
If someone has the stomach for it, in USA today. Lies lies lies and more lies,.
I love the timing – I knew this was coming.
WH put out a response against the tripe written by those idiots. Dan was on point in his negation of the crap written by those two who-haws.

Good Morning TOD family

these are the people criticizing the president? Oh, thank you god, hallelujah! I’m so glad PBO has managed to steer clear of these corrupt, morally bankrupted opportunists! Can’t wait to here what Rev. Al will have to say about Waters and the sellout hit job she did this morning! I hope people are hammering her on twitter.

These folks are really being hammered on twitter right now. They’re organizing the call today.
CNBC = Velma Hart (Plant)
MSNBC = Maxine Waters (Plant)

Coburn: Obama Wants To ‘Create Dependency’ Because He Benefited From Government Programs ‘As An African-American Male’

I did, Fred. So disgusting.
My goodness. This is who the GOP calls a moderate? Thank you all for the GREAT links today. I am tweeting all this like mad.
Yes.We.Can.

====================================

Bottom line: No amount of newspaper ink can change the GOP’s No Jobs record.

I’ve posted three times a link that I think is essential for us to look at, and it won’t post. Does anyone else have this problem?
Comment Posted by Monie at weeseeyou.com
Since the unemployment rate is horrendous for the Black community at large and budget cuts are hurting many of the same Americans, I decided to look up where the CBC was represented in certain committees that are most crucial now. You know the committees were most legislation starts.
First stop, the Education and Workforce committee:
The committee has hardly any Black representation….. 40 members in this committee total and 2 Black members Rep. Donald Payne NJ and Rep Bobby Scott VA:
http://edworkforce.house.gov/Committee/SubcommitteesJurisdictions.htm
And yet somehow 40 jobs bills touted by the CBC have been blocked by Republicans, with hardly any CBC representation on the Education/Workforce committee to begin with and yet it is the President’s fault.
so then I look up the Budget committee. Much uproar has been made up about cuts, caving in, etc.
So I go check out the Budget Committee. 38 members, 2 Black members, Rep Gwen Moore WI and Rep. Karen Bass CA. **Ms. Bass is a freshman House lawmaker btw, was just elected in 2010.
Click to access hbcmembers.pdf
So I pose a question to Rep. Maxine Waters and others. Just like your. “why isn’t the President going to Black communities?”, why aren’t CBC members staking up deep in those committees that are most crucial to our communities now. I see quite a bit of PBO’s critics are stacked up in the Financial services committee though,
http://financialservices.house.gov/About/Members.htm
including Waters, Cleaver, Gutierrez, etc. Which makes me wonder….are yall there for the quickest way to that lobbyist money, just asking.
Ouch, that’s going to leave a mark. I raise my glass to Monie at weeseeyoulcom – Nicely done!
I will call again up to my dinner date.
wrong word/ should be their. I am pissed with this cow for sure not. She started yesterday with me.
Per the saying last century…….”you go girl”….LOL 😀

“Black Man Resting”
You haters! (not you, globalcitizenlinda!)

I think maybe it’s more like Elizabeth for MA.
sorry for the double post. i thouh it had not loaded
Have a great Thursday all.
me again, I figured out how to post my name so I’m not Anonymous. Luv y’all
What I wrote in my post previously “I’ve had it with this woman (Waters)” was expressed in the passion of the moment, I really shouldn’t have written them down here, but I was just so angry with how she was unfairly blasting the president. I did express my concerns forcefully but respectfully to the guy at her office. My role model in being reasonable and level-headed in any conversation is the president himself. I want to emulate his classy demeanor even, or especially in the midst of disagreement. agree to disagree without being disagreeable-these are his words.
welcome Lambunao 🙂
we all vent on this site whenever these idiots get out of pocket so no need to apologize
Can anyone tell me if Tom Coburn is the Republican senator who suppose to be PBO’s friend, or is it someone else?
I think one of the main ones being nuclear proliferation.
yes he is but he is running for re-election.
I get what he is trying to do. I don’t agree with it, but I do understand it.
