Wow. Fun and funny. Way too cool yet very natural.

I love the photos with all the kids and the one where he has three kids hugging him. He’s really enjoying that, too.

He always looks so good with children. I have a feeling these are some of his better times–out there with the “real people.”

    The kids know.

That little boy in the last photo has quite the grip on the President’s leg….wonder if they had trouble peeling him off.

Girls, I know your jealous 😉

I can’t remember another president who is so dignified, and yet can relax and have a great time with children, and adults for that matter. I have never seen a president enjoy getting into crowds of children like he does.

These photos are just delicious. I love to see President Obama with children. He looks like he is having a wonderful time with the whippersnappers.

Of course, this is going to outrage the MSM and the GOP. President Obama has some nerve frolicking and having fun with children in Iowa while the congress is on a month long recess. I mean really what about the OPTICS??

It would if they were paying attention. CNN is airing Decorah, but msnbc is ignoring the whole deal.

Except for Rev. Al; he showed some of what the President was saying and has been a staunch supporter of the Prez.

I love the kids love and respect for the President. He is so good around the kids and they are so loving around their President. It is refreshing to see how the little ones can teach the others so much about love, respect, and excellent manners.

Oh cute, cute, cute. The innocence and joy and love of children. They have to be taught to hate, don’t they? Loved all the hugs and President Obama laughing his head off and the little boy who grabbed onto Obama’s leg with all his heart.

I just noticed that, it made me tear up a little. Absolutely adorable. Kids love him.

Thank you for your comment. These pictures are marvelous. These little ones know goodness when they are around it. I couldn’t help thinking of the lyrics from South Pacific; “You’ve Got To Be Carefully Taught.” (c)

      You’ve got to be taught
      To hate and fear
      You’ve got to be taught
      From year to Year
      It’s got to be drummed
      in your dear little ear
You’ve got to be carefully taught

      You’ve got to be taught
      To be Afraid
      Of people whose eyes
      are oddly made
      And people whose skin
      Is a different shade
You’ve got to be carefully taught

      You’ve got to be taught
      Before it’s too late
Before you are 6 or 7 or 8
      To hate all the people
      your relatives hate
You’ve got to be carefully taught

Shame on the evil-doers who want to gut public education. How could they do that to children like these? Just evil!

These pictures are so delightfully sweet and warm. The warmth, happiness, and friendliness he projects just allows children to gravitate towards him in droves. They way they crowd around him, the smiles, the laughter, the funny faces he’s making; it’s all beautiful. Children can always tell a phony from a mile wide and they recognize honest people who are genuinely pleased to be around them. The pictures of him sitting on the ground, the children helping him up, and the little cute boy holding onto his leg is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. It’s magnificent to see a President who can be so dignified and yet act goofy with children. 🙂

This is one reason why I think so much of POTUS and FLOTUS, is the way they are with childrens. They love them and it seem the kids feel the same about them.

You are correct in saying children can spot a phony (even if I have forgotten how to spell it). Children and dogs have an inborn sense of who cares about them. I remember as a young child going on a kids’ tv show with a person that was dressed like a cowboy and hosted a kids show. I remember kids asking him for an autograph and his sneering and saying, “Get those kids out of here and away from me!” We all knew he didn’t like kids. I stopped watching that show immediately afterwards.
PBO is truly a child lover and enjoys being around kids. They know it too.

Romney, Bachmann, or Perry would or could never pull off such a beautiful spontanous scene. If nothing else they would worry too much about their hair.

Yep, remember Boehner trying that at the Congressional picnic? So phony, the little girl just gave him a very strange look .

Oh my god I’m dying over that last picture with the little boy in the yellow shirt with his arms wrapped around the President’s leg and the President just taking it all in stride. LOVE HIM!!

  15. August 15, 2011 at 6:06 pm

Wow I love these kids ease with POTUS- like he’s a favorite Uncle over to visit. I honestly have never seen kids react to a President the way they do with President Obama, I see this and it so warms my heart for our future as a nation.

Really wonderful photos of a young community in awe and respect of our good-natured President. They are ALL having fun together. Sweet and very revealing.

ok…I searched google for photos of Bush with Children and could only find this one

  20. August 15, 2011 at 6:16 pm

I SO noticed the little chap who was hanging on to the President’s leg as I have a little one here visiting who does that, and it drives me crazy because I can’t move when he latches on and he ALWAYS hangs on so tightly and at the most inconvenient times!) I noticed in particular the President’s relaxed and reassuring hand behind the little man. This man is ALWAYS teaching me and modelling the right approach for me. I’ll take a deep breath and give the calm reassuring hand on the back another try.

These pictures are the TRUTH…seriously. The little guy with the grip on the President’s leg reminds me of a cousin who used to wrap onto a favorite uncle’s leg with both arms and legs and would let go. Uncle would walk around with this kid on his leg for the longest, getting the biggest laugh about it. Too precious.

      • August 15, 2011 at 7:26 pm

My little one hangs on in happiness AND anger – which means that I pretty much have an almost permanent attachment on my leg. Oh well, I love the President’s natural, unthinking response. (And I mean ‘unthinking’ in a positive way.)

I’m not much of a gambler, but I bet we’ll see an ‘opposing’ politician pictured with kids in the very near future, trying to show how ‘natural’ they can be too. 😉

And I bet that opposing politician would first have the hand-picked kids scrubbed clean of any potentially infectious diseases like say poverty and commoner…

Allowing a child to hang onto your leg while you conduct a conversation is a natural position for most parents and it shows that the President is truly a parent who doesn’t mind a little one hanging on him. I bet it’s something that both of his girls did when they were younger.

I always say that “if a smile could kill,” I would be dead by now lol..He has such a warming smile, and I love to see him

President Obama just loves the children! It’s a fact that cannot be disputed by anyone! No wonder Malia and Sasha are always happy to be around him! May The Almighty bless him and keep him strong and safe! May The Almighty grant him peace, joy, and happiness! Obama 2012! Yes! Yes! Yes!
