‘stop whining about what obama hasn’t said. look at what he’s actually done’

President Obama tours Johnson Controls Inc. in Holland, Mich., Aug. 11

Michael Grunwald (Time): I know President Obama is supposed to be an awful disappointment to environmentalists because he doesn’t talk enough about climate change, just like he’s an awful disappointment to progressives because he doesn’t say enough nasty things about bankers. But people who actually care about what Presidents do, as opposed to how they talk, might be interested in Obama’s trip to Michigan on Thursday. He’s visiting a factory that builds batteries for electric vehicles, a factory that exists for three reasons:

1. Because Obama saved the U.S. auto industry.

2. Because Obama has ratcheted up fuel-efficiency standards, boosting demand for green vehicles.

3. Because Obama created a U.S. advanced battery industry from scratch.

…. the Johnson Controls lithium-ion battery factory that Obama is visiting was financed by his 2009 stimulus bill …. that included an unprecedented $90 billion for clean-energy investments …. The most radical investment was probably a $2.4 billion grant program that helped finance 30 factories building advanced batteries and components, including $300 million for Johnson Controls, which had to match the government dollars with private dollars.

Before 2009, the U.S. was supplying less than 2% of a tiny global market in advanced batteries. When the stimulus-funded factories are all complete, they’ll have the capacity to supply 40% of a rapidly growing global market, about 500,000 batteries a year.

The stimulus will also boost our supply of electric-vehicle charging stations by more than 3,000%. And the Obama administration has provided loans to help Tesla, Fisker and Nissan build electric-car factories in the U.S., all part of Obama’s pledge to put 1 million plug-ins on the road by 2015.

That is what change looks like, even if the President doesn’t beat his chest and call for mass beheadings on Wall Street while it happens.

… the liberals who keep whining that Obama isn’t telling them what they want to hear ought to open their eyes and look at what he’s trying to do. Whining enviros should be especially grateful to Obama …. those standards represent the biggest step the country has ever taken to reduce our dependence on foreign oil … the biggest step the country has ever taken to reduce our carbon emissions.

…..  would you rather have a President who talks about climate change, or a President who does something about it?

I wish we could line up all the complainers and stamp Chipsticks’ title onto their foreheads. PBO walks the walk and talks the talk. He doesn’t do empty gestures and theatrics. PL and PUMAS better recognize.

Well, that would involve NOT whining and NOT playing victim

PBO is exactly the man I thought he would be when he won in 2008. He is just getting on with the job of improving the lives of everyday people, trying to ‘heal the planet’ by enabling places like Johnson Controls Inc. through the stimulus bill. He isn’t standing in front of tv cameras all the time trying to be the big ‘I am’ he is just doing the best job any president has in my lifetime. Thank you President Obama for having a big heart matched by an extraordinary intellect and the patience of a saint! President Barack Obama – the perfect package!!!

I wish the Obama’s a restful and enjoyable vacation – they all deserve it ESPECIALLY Barack and if those bloviating a$$hats want to whinge and whine about it like the overgrown babies that they are well to **** with them, they aren’t even worth listening to.

Way OT now but I want to thank all of you who were supporting me the other night during the riots here in the UK. Thankfully we have had two nights free of violence and things are much calmer in London now. Your kindness, thoughts and prayers meant so much to me and I am feeling so much better now.
    God bless you all.

This is the kind of news and articles our so called media should be reporting 100% of the time. Not the fact that Sarah Palin is in Iowa. Do I give a fuck about Palin. Hell no. That manipulative media whore could take a long walk off short pier for all I care. This President is working his fingers to the bone. TO THE BONE!!! But you never hear a peep from the msm. He went to Logan, Michigan and pointed out the amazing, astounding work his administration is doing to take this country past the 21st century in the environment, technology, automobile industry and all other genres. But does he get credit? No. Instead they whine, bitch, and moan about his taking a vacation. If they did fair and credible reporting all citizens who for whatever reason aren’t fully clued in on how to obtain information would see that this President works hard and is not detached or disconnected.

Anything that President Obama says he’s for the GOP is automatically against and the MSM will give them all the time they desire to attack the President on it. So President Obama does his most progressive work under the radar and through regulations. I guess he expected the nutroots to be smart enough to find out themselves what he was doing rather than thumping his chest about it and getting GOP and MSM pushback.

They cannot cope with the idea of four more years of being out of power. By “them” I mean Reps&MSM. It’s a fight for their survival now. Reptilian brain time. What they SHOULD report, what Reps SHOULD do is not anywhere on their radar. Reelect Obama and get him a House he can work with. I’m going out, but have time for a trip to Donate.

Woohoo!!! Great article!!!!! I decided awhile ago to write letters of praise to the big three US automakers because I can see they are supporting the President. Now I’m really fired up about it!

And related to the Grunwald article…take a gander at this!!!

Ford & SunPower team up to bundle solar, electric car
By Katie Fehrenbacher Aug. 10, 2011, 6:30am PT

If you buy an electric car, will you be more likely to buy solar panels to charge the EV with clean power? That’s what solar panel maker SunPower and Ford are hoping, and have launched a new initiative to bundle a deal for a Ford Focus Electric vehicle and a SunPower solar rooftop system.
Ford and SunPower are calling their special “Drive Green for Life,” and are pitching the deal as a way for Ford Focus Electric owners to reduce their costs of ownership by enabling them to produce their own electricity, and essentially fuel. A 2.5 kilowatt SunPower rooftop panel system, which can produce 3,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, is supposed to be designed to pay for enough fuel for a car-owner that drives 1,000 miles per month.
Along with the solar panels and the electric car, the group has thrown in an energy monitoring system and an iPhone app, to help you connect with your new system. SunPower says the panels will cost at the base less than $10,000, and SunPower will also offer financing options. Within the deal, the group is also bundling electric car charging options…..

I’m still looking for the right contact info for GM, but their site is very interesting and very positive. I ran into this electric battery related info. A123 Systems is a Massachusetts’ company.

GM Awards A123 Systems Contract for Future Batteries
Nanophosphate® lithium ion will power future electric vehicles
      08-11-2011

DETROIT – General Motors has awarded a production contract to A123 Systems, a developer and manufacturer of advanced Nanophosphate® lithium ion batteries and systems, for batteries to be used in future GM electric vehicles to be sold in select global markets.

The contract includes advanced Nanophosphate cells and fully integrated electronic components. The specific vehicles and brands will be announced at a later date….

Today’s announcement is the latest milestone in the partnership between GM and A123, and it showcases the type of collaboration between U.S. companies necessary to build a long-term domestic battery and electric vehicle industry….

Something that gets ignored in the discussion of Obama’s role in the American auto industry: this industry kept its head in the sand for decades, refusing to enter the market for energy efficient cars in a meaningful way. It was Barack Obama, and Obama alone, who gave them conditions in exchange for loans in order to join the 21st century.

And gee, guess what? GM saw that there was a market for these cars. So when Obama set out to raise fuel standards it was nowhere near the impotent struggle it had been in the past.

Now if the looney left would get behind this President, imagine how progressive he could be.

    So damned stupid.

    • August 12, 2011 at 4:26 pm

Absolutely. This will be another Obama Legacy. President Obama used not only the bailout as leverage, but the purchasing power of the US Government to guarantee to manufacturers that there will be a market to mass produce green cars. Once that mass market is created, then prices plummet, and new technologies will explode in the sector.

This is what continues to give me hope for the future. We just do not have a very intelligent President in the Whitehouse, but we have a President who is very intelligent and he uses his intelligent every minutes to work fairly for the people of this country and even the world. He does not just sit and use people, he is working day and night to get things done for a better America. Those of us who appreciate this awesome gift in this man, understands it and see it everyday he is there in that Oval Office. He takes care of the American business.
But the media will NEVER report that. Why? Let me be plain and to the point. The majority of the media hates the fact that Barack Obama is the President of the United States. They hate it that their ugly, nasty, hateful, ole white man mentality is really showing its ugly face and they just can’t help themselves. It is shaming them really badly. It finally caught up with them and the world really sees it now. They do not have to speculate or read it in some book, it is in plain view each and everyday. Let’s be honest people. They NEVER expected a man like President Barack Obama to be sitting in the sacred office of the Oval. No, maybe 100 years from not, but not now. I have an eighty 84 year of neighbor(2) and they said it to my face. I looked and sait to them’ Why not?” Do you not think that the God you say that we believe in could not have given Barack Obama (that was before the final day of the election) the intelligent, the moral compass, the compassion, the hope, the leadership to sit in the Oval Office just like Bush(their favorites) did?” He just looked at me, and he really could not believe it. This is the sad old thinking that my dear younger people cannot and should not tolerate ANYMORE. Stand up and believe in this great leader and tell these farts(excuse) to to to hell where they will end up on thi earth or wherever hell is for them. Now I am going to get me another candle box holder for my study. I am sick of these haterful media types, and hateful people. We are going to shut their loud mouths up because by the time we re-elect him for four more years, they will have another farting fit. GTH is my thought. Sorry TOD Family. I will showcase the Good of this President. We do not need them. We can come together and do the heavy lifting. Some of them wuld not even have jobs, if it was not President Obama as ur President. See where they go after 2017. Because those wien any common decency ( and I have hones and fair with POTUS Presidency) will be writing books, and following President Barack Obama aall around the globe. He will be going around th globe, believe me. Now, I am out of here for awhile. Forgive me Chipsticks and family. But I am tired of these hateful people. I need to go and dowhat I know how to do when this comes on. I am not crazy. I am very sane. I have lived through too much of this hate, I can see a a mile away. Love you all HZ

No need to apologize for saying what needs to be said, HZ. The way the MSM, republicans, some dem politicians, the PL, the frustrati crew, and the firebaggers are treating PBO is bringing their racism and jealousy to the fore for the whole world to see. It makes them look bad because these same people are always preaching to leaders and people in other nations about how exceptional America is. With the election of PBO, the haters have proven that those words were only lies. What they didn’t tell those living in other nations is that America is an exceptional country–but only for some. They have always known that men like PBO existed. My dad was one. They’ve worked hard to keep men like them in their “place.” What they’ve been doing since his inauguration is intended to make him a failure and remove him from the WH ASAP, even if they have to destroy the nation to do it. PBO outsmarted and outworked them to win in 2008, and this has been an insult to them ever since because, in their minds, America is not only a “Christian nation,” it’s an only whites get to be POTUS here nation, too.”

HZ there is NOTHING to forgive. You are speaking your mind elequently and calling out biggots and hateful people. I have some family members who I love with all my heart who have villified me for supporting President Obama and who told me during the campaign that America would never elect a black man. When he won I was told that he would never make inauguration, that he would not be accepted to which I replied that he WAS president, he WOULD make it to the Oval Office and that he had the potential to be GREAT and that the Americans had made a great choice. I refuse to raise my voice to these people but I will ferociously defend PBO to them. The other day when we were discussing the downgrading of the USA’s credit rating the most critical of my family actually said that President Obama had been put in an impossible position and that he was ‘behaving like an adult among the kindergarten congress’ well I could have fainted with shock. He is still not a supporter but at least he has acknowledged that he is a good man.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I will be standing strong with you all in support of PBO and no matter what c**p is thrown we will fight to keep this grat man in the presidency.
Take care of yourself HZ, I hope you can get some rest and relaxation. Love you loads!!
