surprise, surprise!

HughBoyOhBoy (DK): I did some checking this afternoon on the Federal Election Commission’s database of financial contributors to political candidates. Within minutes I found that Harold W. McGraw III, the Chairman, President, and CEO of Standard & Poor’s parent company, is a big money contributor to lots of Republicans.

Repeat recipients of McGraw’s largess include Mitt Romney, George W. Bush, the National Republican Congressional Committee, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, something called the Bush-Cheney Compliance Committee, and many more Republicans …. He has never given any money to the Obama campaign nor any to the Democratic Party.

Gee, how convenient. Standard and Poor’s issues a politically biased rating with a $2 trillion error. Republicans wave that rating around like Moses just brought it down from the mountain as verification of their defamation about the Obama presidency. And the head of the company making those ratings happens to give money to the likes of Mitt Romney and the Republican Party…

Thanks Fred

Morning Chips. Hope your time off was well spent. Thanks for this place.

While some on the left spend their every waking moment eating their own, the other side robs us blind and position themselves to take over every aspect of our political and personal lives.

By the time some of them begin to open their eyes it would be too late.

    Go figure.

Something Nice from Sandra Bernhard. The Daily Beast: What do you think of how Obama is doing so far?

Bernhard: I think, in spite of the fact that he’s been squelched by the Tea Party element and all of these types of people, that he does what he does every day. He gets up, he’s the president. He’s a smart man, an intellectual and a thoughtful person. He doesn’t just go running on his emotional responses, and I think America is used to that. They’re used to people just reacting, and he isn’t that kind of a person. To a lot of people that means that he’s not doing what he should be doing or he hasn’t accomplished enough. But I think he very quietly goes about turning things over and unearthing things that need patience and a little bit of restraint. I think he’s doing a relatively good job at that.

When one has friends in high places, one is able to stretch ones corrupt tentacles far and wide. S&P has never downgraded the US ever before. Especially during the mess that was the Bush Admin. Then a democrat comes into power, regulates the financial market, exposes them for the recalcitrant and corrupt hacks they are, dems in congress hold their feet to the fire and what do they do? They conveniently downgrade us. It is all politics. When Romney was Gov. of Massachusetts, the state was 47th in job creation, he only created about one million jobs from 2003-2007, the state was in a mess budget wise and what did S&P do? They gave Romney a credit ratings upgrade. Are you freaking kidding me?

Yesterday in a thread entitled “the team” Hachiko wrote and warned us all about the Politico piece where they said that President Obama and his campaign team were going to swiftboat Romney by using dogwhistle tactics by pointing out his weirdness aka his Mormonism, his personal characteristics, his style of dressing and acting, etc etc. She was right to tell us to be vigilant, because with Romney looking like the eventual nominee, they’ve already begun reaching to the GOP run media and demonizing President Obama as an intolerant human being. People might try to brush it off, but it is already seeping its way into mainstream talk. Chris Matthews ran with it and no matter how much we might consider him and emotional flip flopper, his show is respected and he took the battle to the Today Show this morning and coninued on this meme. A lot of older folks watch these morning shows, they are the ones who mostly come out to vote in general and off year elections and then they hear that President Obama is going to use such despicable tactics? CNN, Morning Joe and other morning shows are already running with this politico hitpiece and presenting it as fact. They’re all reporting how Romney was angered and saddened by President Obama playing dogwhistle politics, how Romney released such a well thought out statement, how President Obama should be ashamed of himself and his campaign team. Also Hachiko was right when she said Romney would use this as a fundraising mechanism. It has already begun. Romney has already begun collecting money from lots of people who believed the politico hitpiece and he now has an ad running on every major station. The ad shows President Obama giving his speech at the Tucson memorial for the lives lost at the hands of Jared Loughner and he calls for civility in our public discourse and how we shouldn’t use inflammatory language, symbols and personal attacks on those on the other side of the aisle that we don’t agree with. The ad then shows clippings from the politico hitpiece citing dem sources stating that President Obama will indeed use ugly inflammatory language and personal attacks on Romney. The ad is disgusting especially Romney using the Tucson memorial for politics. But that’s politics for you. The only person who has come out against the politico hitpiece and shown it for the crap and BS that it is; is Lawrence O’Donnell. Only one person. The rest on basic tv and cable have been taking Romney’s side and heavily demonizing President Obama. So Hachiko was right to implore of us to fight back, fight back fight back because this attack paints President Obama in an ugly light and no matter how much he pushes back and he has God bless his heart, all stations I’ve watched today and all reporters are heavily pushing Romneys side. It sure is an ugly world we live in and President Obama is going to need us to continually push back hard against these outright lies and hatchet jobs.

Everything you said, Ut. Everything. We have to push back at these folks. This unconscionable.

    • August 10, 2011 at 11:13 am

thank you UT.. the whole thing is disgusting, but it is no surprise. The media and the money have picked their candidate and they’re already gearing up to ‘swiftboat’ POTUS.

Convenient memory loss they all have… being as Huntsman, hired by President Obama is also, Mormom, is he not? Not to mention Senator Reid. I know facts mean nothing to the media- because POLITICO made some shit up with the help of some lying slimeball.. it must be true. I want ya’ll to remember this: it was MSNBC who took this on and played it as factual- the “liberal” station.

      • August 10, 2011 at 11:16 am

..and fyi.. that is some very very quick commercial making.. didn’t that Politico article come out yesterday or the night before? How in hell did they run down/cut and create footage from POTUS’s speech and get an ad running by yesterday?

This is a GAME to the media- its all about dominating the air waves. And frankly EFF to Chris Matthews- never trust him.

They try to shut up any anticipated pointing out of glaring weaknesses!!!

Remember Sarah Palin screaming misogyny at the slightest hint of people pushing back at her one-sided vicious attacks!!! SHE was doing all the attacking but made everyone stick up for her at any slightest rebuke!!!

Just like I hear that Jon Stewart came to Michelle Bachmann’s “defense” from Newsweek!!! I thought that was quite amusing seeing that I have not heard either Jon Stewart or the National Organization of Women come to Mrs Obama’s defense in the many instances where she has been viciously attacked and for no reason at all!!!

Things that make you go hmmmmmm again and again!!!

          • August 11, 2011 at 11:15 am

exactly Eleroy- its all very convenient for them- theres an incestuousness to the media- all of it- they’re so intertwined with one another in unhealthy ways- all geared to fool/ play the public.

Truthfully our national media puts me in mind of wrestling.. how FAKE it all is.

Interesting. And Warren Buffett, who owns a stake in Moody’s has been slamming S&P and saying he thinks the U.S. should have a AAAA rating. Not to mention the fact that people who have been dumping stocks are buying — wait for this! — Treasuries. I’ll listen to the Oracle from Omaha, thank you.

Yourplackpresident.blogspot.com and the article is The Arrogance of being President while Black” it is awesome. If someone can re-post it I think there will be a lot of comments. And it is so true.
