What’s not to love here!? Thank you, Chips:)
Tulips, know that we had a little kerfluffe the other day, and what you said has stuck in my head. It may not be perfect, it may not be in your neighborhood, but it IS going on, and I hope that knowing this gives you hope.

Hi Chips. Speaking of hatred. I just found out that a close relative of mine thinks the Obama’s are cultists because of a hand sign which I’ve never paid attention to before. It’s in the rounds that this sign is of satan worship. Needless to say, I am through with this nutjob of a relative, with no regrets, trust me. Anytime one is that weak-minded and hateful, there’s nothing I can do to help her. She and her ilk are on their own. The evil is being spread in insidious places about PBO, and it pays to know where it is even in our own families. This revelation just makes me more dedicated to his political survival, with God’s blessings. Just had to share. Trust you are having a relaxing time, out there somewhere in the universe 😀

(It’s in the rounds that this sign is of satan worship) this going on in some of the blacks intercity churches. The Republican will do any thing to make this Man a one term President. and some people will believe anything if it comes from the church. God help us all.

Really, dun? I was not aware of this. I know of that sicko on You Tube who calls himself a minister. Well, one can be a minister of hate as well as love. It’s a shame as they in no way exemplify the Christ they claim to serve.

Thanks for sharing Edp4bho. I severed ties with a longtime friend for similar thing. I hadn’t seen her for a quite a while. One day I stopped by her health food store. We started a conversation which led to me telling her that I had been laid off from my job. She immediately told me that PBO was responsible. Mind you, I had lost my job just one month after he won the election, he had been in office for only six months when I visited her. I tried to explain to her but she would not hear me. She decided we better not talk politics. I agreed. We moved on to another subject, but she just wouldn’t let go. That’s when she told me that PBO was the anti-christ.

In my red district here, people had been spewing that garbage. At the time I worked at a newspaper, one of the contributing free-lance columnists was let go because she wrote a column stating the president was the anti-christ. When the editor challenged her and told her it was her opinion with no bases in fact, she dug her heels in. They refused to run her column. To my mind, most of the people referring to him as the anti-christ did so because of his skin color.

I told my friend I believed that she was doing the same thing, that I was surprised and sorry she felt this way about the president. I told her not to call me her friend again, and walked out of her store. Never been back since.

Thank you Chipsticks for these lovely tributes to our President! You continue to do great work in support of this President, and it is truly appreciated!

Hi TODers, I trust you are all enjoying your PBO birthday celebrations, whether in a group or on your own with a personal toast to the best world leader currently in office! While you may not have noticed my absence for the last five days, I’ve been going through major withdrawal on my traditional ‘no electronics’ three-families-together summer vacation. This was the very first really painful year for me (a longtime media hater) as our pre-arranged reservations fell in the middle of the debt ceiling fracas. [Don’t tell the other two family matriarchs, but on Monday I sneaked into the cottage camp’s reception area and peaked online just to see if a deal was struck. That settled, I was able to sweat through the rest of our stay until now when I can (TRY to) bring myself up to date.] Now I’m off down thread to try and capture some of the information, and the feelings, shared here over this GOP manufactured, but very real near-crisis

Welcome back! It’s hard staying out of touch – but glad you survived the withdrawal.

      • August 5, 2011 at 7:56 pm

Thanks, T! Now I’m struggling to catch up on the past and keep tabs on the current ‘stuff’ knowing I have less time to be online. 😉 These days my real life is a drag that keeps getting in the way of my PBO life. 🙄

I’m giving myself a treat tonight just watching and listening to this music and immersing myself in this beautiful family, this wonderful president, and leaving myself wide open to the wonderful nickname of Obamabot. There’s nothing better as far as I’m concerned. Thanks Chipsticks!

You know what I notice. The kids. the kids. They just seem to gravitate toward Barack and Michelle. Of course, their girls do it, but I mean, kids in general. Whenever there are little kids around, the children just seem SO comfortable with Barack and Michelle, even as perfect strangers. The kids just drape themselves all over them. It’s amazing to watch.

Thought this was semi-amusing, in its innocence anyway. A 75 yr. old woman was flying solo yesterday in Chgo area and wandered into restricted air space with Obama in town. She had no radio on board and was intercepted by 2 fighter jets who brought her down. She’s from an area near me, I’m familiar with her well-known family. She of course had no idea she had wandered where she wasn’t allowed, just find it interesting that a 75 yr. old gal was buzzing around by herself last night.

That was the most amazing part of the story, for me. Knowing the Air Force is keeping the President safe, I wanted to know more about this woman who’s flying solo at 75. She must have led a remarkable life! Now, she’s got one more story to add to many others, I’m sure.

I was almost as happy for him as he was 😀 He deserves this and more for all the hard work he puts in each and every waking day. He lets no grass grow under his feet. Funny how some have said he would have made a fine Supreme Court Justice, sitting on the bench. Thing is, I could never imagine him “sitting” anywhere for long. He’s too antsy, and a position like that would have bored the hell out of him after a short while, I believe. I’m gonna say good nite to all of you and peace “-D

I agree – he always looks like he’s struggling when he’s in those long bi-partisan meetings. I think the Supreme Court might be a nice challenge for him for a while, but he really needed to be firing on all cylinders, like he’s doing now. I can’t wait to see what he does next.

Thanks Chipsticks for posting Hey! My all-time favorite and so fitting to honor our president on his 50th! Glad you added the others. I am always struck by the love and joy and diversity of the crowds around him. I was on Gryffen’s blog, The Immoral Minority (he posted BWD’s birthday tribute and blocked all trolls from the comment page), and he had a clip from the new documentary on the real Palin (Sarah Palin, You Betcha) which will show at the Toronto Film Festival next month. Her audience is almost all white and mostly old; a far cry from the rainbow-hued faces of America who flock around our president.
Thanks for all you to do create such a positive community. Yes We Can, Again. (Despite all the media talking about the unemployment rate and election I find it hard to believe that we would let a Republican in. They have clearly shown their only interest is in protecting the top 1% and corporations and have no vision for realizing the American dream for all of us. The only comparable time I can think of is when FDR ran in the depression.

Good Nite Chipsticks and my beautiful TOD Family. Just so nice to be here on this beautiful site to share the love for the best President in my life time. I was thinking tonight, you all did this. You all elected this great man. Do you realize what you did in this great history of this nation and the world. You elected President Barack Obama to be our 44th President of the United States of America. Let’s go and do that one more time in 2012. Just think about the power of what we all did. What an honor to say, “Happy Birthday, Mr. President.” May we celebrate many more joyful birthdays with this President. I love you all so very much. I better get some rest, my doc will not like it. I just could not close with saying these words to you all. I am blessed. I am okay. See the doc for follow-up next week. It was rough, but I had complete peace. I love you all back, HZ

Hi Chipsticks and TOD Family. I am missing you all, but I do sit up in bed and read all of the wonderful conversations. Oh, Chips, I hope that you are getting some rest on your vacation. You know that I miss you, and our entire family miss you. I am going to be okay so far. I go in for a follow up with my doctor next week. I came through the procedure fine. Great doctor.(Plus, I am always a great patient) I do not like being down, so I get up and do everything that I need to do to get back on my feet. I have a severe call of Diverticulitis. I can’t figure it out because I am a very careful person with my diet. I eat lots of fiber, fish, lots of fruits and lots and lots of vegetables. I spend so much on my food monthly, that I can a pauper when I am done shopping. Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Henry’s. All organic.(Plus I have a rare heart condition.) However, I am elated that the procedure did not show any cancer. That was the one things that was on my mind the most. I am still trying to allow the colon to heal. I have so much faith, and so many prayers went out for me,and so many loving positive meditations from so many loving friends and family here that I know that is what got me through the first stage. Next Wed., doctor and I will discuss treatment and how I can keep it under control. I love you all so much, and I miss you so much. I had to take pain meds to write last night, but I was lying here reading, and everyone was enjoying our POTUS birthday as I was; so I had to join in. But I went on to bed like the doctor ordered. Felt fine this morning. Watered back pation plants and neighbor assisted me in shopping for a few food items that are a must. Thank you so much Chips for asking, and Sam Uk, Chi, Mtmarily, Tally. and everyone of my beautiful family here. I love you all so much. I spoke briefly to three people in Trader Joe’s and one at Whole Foods this morning about our President, and they spoke very highly of him and want to vote for him again in 2012. I told them to get involve by starting now ,because the young people are” fired up and ready to go.” One lady was so surprised, she said,”Really, the young people?” I replied, “Yes, they are ready and working already.” She was very pleased. So even in our illnesses, we can carry the message of our beautiful President. So keep me in your thoughts, and know that I love all of you so very much. I am hanging out, so be good. Thank you all, thank you all, and thank you all, my dear family. We Got This .. Okay?

With Love from Italy, Happy Birthday President Obama

Special bottle of wine for President’s 50th from Italy’s prime minister. Nice.

“He may not be a sommelier, but he’s certainly no simpleton regarding wine. Barack Obama – before being able to tap into the outstanding wine cellar at the White House – was proud of his collection at his house in Chicago, which included about a thousand bottles of mostly American but also Italian and French.”

How can a person be bullied into supporting someone. Most people are strong in their convictions. And if a person is between two opposing opinions they maybe convinced or persuaded of an idea which result in a compromise Bullying is forcing which is a negative. You can almost never trust these analysts on TV. They are paid for their similar opinions of the network. Now that is bullying, to try to get a person to buy into their nonsense most of the time.

Good to ‘see’ you again Dorothy, we missed your comments here. Those videos were wonderful and they sure reminded me that there have been SO many good times with this great president and even though things are not so good right now I am sure that there will be many more happy times very soon. Haters will hate no matter what, the opposition will oppose and the media will get their collective panties in a wad BUT President Obama will prove to be the great man that he is just by being his caring intelligent and brilliant self and his goodness will prevail. Don’t worry Dorothy, in the words of the speech which first showed me this man and his brilliance “…a brighter day will come.” (DNC keynote speech 2004).

Sending you loads of love from across the ocean.
