WOW. Everyone is whipping out their camera. No wonder Mitt Romney wants to follow the President when he goes on his usual vacation to Martha’s Vineyard to access some of that popularity 🙂 🙂 🙂

This is getting a bit creepy.
Mitt’s been MIA the past two weeks, scared to talk about the debt crisis but crawls out now so he can travel wherever Obama is.

Someone’s looking for media attention. Maybe he can send the Obama family some leftover pizza.

I’m listening to Randi Rhodes right now http://www.ktlkam1150.com/mediaplayer/ and not only is she hilarious. She knows the facts of the debt deal inside out. She is brilliant, knowledgeable on every freaking political topic, on point, 100% in for President Obama, calls out GOP and PL alike for their lies about the Obama Adminisration policies. I just finished printing out a copy of the Budget Control Act of 2011 and gave it to my mother. She’s a retired HS history teacher and complained about the misinformation going around about the bill. She wanted to get her hands on a copy. She’s used to reading and analyzing primary sources.

I’ve skimmed the bill and saved the PDF, but it will probably take me a week to slowly go through and figure out the whole thing. 🙄 But at least I have someone here to help. 🙂

It’s getting real old, but I continue to be disgusted with our news media, who seem singularly focused on promoting controversy. Instead of showing the 1500 enthusiastic and excited supporters waiting to get into the Aragon Ballroom for the bday bash, which would make sense and would be the decent thing to do for the hometown Pres., the local news reporter had to give her report tonight in front of about a dozen shouting immigration reform protesters. It’s so infuriating, always showcasing the negative.

Rev Al is calling out the Teapugs for the FAA nonsense.

    • August 3, 2011 at 9:31 pm

Did you listen to Rev. Al? We have the Progressives out there ranting and raving about President Obama, but these people haven’t said a dam word about the Republicans, and the mess that they are doing. After putting this country through that debt ceiling B.S. Now these Republicans goes out of town for a month leaving this FAA situation unresolved. Costing Americas 30 million dollars a day. With 74,000 people out of work. And all this is done so they can go after the unions. But where is the Progressives going after the Tea-Republicans? Who is there enemy? Have they made President Obama their enemy? It seem to me all the Democrats ought to be getting together to go after the Tea-Republicans. But all I hear is I’m so disappointed of Obama, Obama has let me down. But do these Progressives think the Tea-Republicans, do they think Romney, Bachmann, Gingrinch, Pawlenty, Huntsman, Perry, or any other of those Republicans will do what they want.

I thought this was a sweet gesture and it is so like President Obama to do it without fanfare. In one of the pictures of the lunch outing, while PBO was line, an African-American woman was in front of him in the line and after he and his team placed their orders, PBO paid for his team and also paid for the woman’s lunch. That is CLASS you just can’t buy. 😀

So I just saw Chris Matthews ranting about Obama’s upcoming bus tour. He pronounced that people in the Midwest will be yelling out from the crowd that Obama should be in DC working on creating jobs! I have watched Chris long enough to know that if Obama were to stay in DC the entire month of August, while Congress is in recess, Chris would be asking why POTUS wasn’t out there with the people, he spends too much time in DC, people don’t know who he is, Congresspeople are holding town halls during August, Obama should be out there too!!!

So if you take Chris Matthews’ comments at face value you would have to assume that he believes the President himself comes up with all the ideas about job creation (not his economic team) and he does all the work himself, therefor could not possibly get anything done while on a bus tour. It is just repeating the same tired old meme from Republicans about how he couldn’t leave DC while the oil spill was going on…..for months, or that he couldn’t possibly monitor situations at home while abroad.

Chris Matthews is of course not the sharpest tool in the shed, his insight is never all that sharp as demonstrated by this segment, but it is this same sort of stuff that is repeated by many in the mainstream media that makes it so hard for our President to gain any traction on so many things. My take is that basically the truly spectacular laziness of our Media is partially responsible for where we find ourselves regarding the insane politics of DC right now.

It would appear that Tweety has been in bed with HuffnPuff Hack Howard Fineman these last two weeks. So I dare say, his talking points will reflect the anti-Obama punditry of Hack Fineman.

    • August 3, 2011 at 6:59 pm

And if President Obama was holed up in the oval office the whole month, Tweety would be bitching about him not using the bully pulpit.

    • August 3, 2011 at 7:08 pm

Ah, Chris Matthews, our resident expert on White people. What he said is not going to happen. those people will be excited and happy to hear that someone in DC is thinking of them.

    • 91 lamh34
      August 3, 2011 at 7:09 pm

Tweety already has a problem with the admin possible strategy of making up for is possible loss of white voters by encouraging and rallying other non-white working Americans, i.e. Latinos. When a reporter on his show, Ben Smith I think, made said that part of the strategy might be to balance the defection of whites with an increase in Latino voters, tweety said he didn’t like the President “ignoring” these voters and replacing them with others …you can hear the inherent “those people” in his voice. The other reporter seeing where Tweety was trying to go corrected him an told he that the admin is NOT trying to throw away white voters for latino ones, they of course wanted to keep white voters, but they no they are going to lose some regardless and so by increasing latino votes they can “broaden their map to victory”. Tweety, was like well that makes more sense.

I wish I could find the video. That was it for me and Tweety.

Tweet has been talking about Obama’s problem with “regular people”—-he actually said that—-again just the other day—–since before the ’08 election. Regular people means white people in Pa. and Ohio, I guess. Or as he now describes it “from Scranton to Warsaw”. Warsaw, Wi.? I keep waiting for someone to question his “regular people” reference, and why aren’t people with varied skin tones “regular people”—–but no one does. Also, he spent a good portion of today promoting Rick Perry. When one of his guests said Perry would have problems in a general election, Tweet told him to shut up, he wanted him in the race. It’s all a game to these media creeps.

Seems he does a bit of race-baiting himself with these constant praises of white-wingers, and “regular” folk. I really have to get tweeting because his “regular” folk to me reminds me of watching TV (see the re-runs on TVLand) of 1950’s -1960’s sitcoms. I can view those today and see no one who looks like me, my son, my parents. This is the “regular” America that Matthews is referring to. He does not impress me with his faux-liberalism. He is a fraud who plays both angles just to keep shit in the game, and to stay relevant. He has no loyalty to anyone but his long-time associates.

Agree about the media’s responsibility in much of the current state of affairs. They promoted and gave credence to the tea party which has taken the country on a disastrous path. They only seem interested in promoting controversy and negativity. I think they’ve really done a number on President Obama, seemingly anxious to bring him down, trying to set up a real horse race for the election, or extreme jealousy, or I don’t know what, but I have never seen anything like it. My husband just commented about the negative flavor of every news story tonight, spreading doom and gloom, which spreads doom and gloom. It’s a tough go, having to break through the entire news media.
In more positive news, I just saw President Obama bounce down the stairs of Air Force One, looking great and energetic, met by Mayor Rahm, both of them looking happy to see each other, striding lively off to board Marine One.

See I have to disagree about Rachel. While she has at time criticized Obama she never engages in ridiculous “beltway” criticisms like the one I mentioned with Chris M. It’s a very rare occasion that I find her going over the top with hyperbole and when she does criticize the administration she usually backs it up with some pretty good facts and also weighs in on why something may not be going the right way, namely she will show that while Obama didn’t maybe achieve what he said he wanted to, it was in larger part because of the obstruction he faced. I find her quite fair almost always. It doesn’t hurt that she’a about a million times smarter than Chris.

I honestly don’t have a problem with criticism of Obama for one decision or another and actually think it can be a good thing if it’s constructive, but I want to hear the back up info for that criticism and they “why” behind it.

What I want is a media that is not obsessed with trying to balance everything like they must create a Democratic equivalence to the tea party threatening to ruin the country.

Rachel in fact does a lot of going after the beltway media for doing things like that.

This is the problem with the “media”. They aren’t actually upset, they are just repeating the Republican manufactured “outrage” as if it is widespread and truly a concern for Americans, which it of course is not. Because most Americans know that he is running for a second term and has to do fundraisers and that the republicans running against him are doing it as well. Only the dumbest of the dumb would actually fault the president for celebrating his Birthday.

Did anyone just see the verbal smackdown Joe Madison gave that sick bitch of conservative talk radio Heidi Harris on the Rev’s show?

Heidi was whining and complaining that it’s unfair for dems and others in the media to refer to the GOPTeabaggers as terrorists, hostage takers and jihadists and they should apologize and blah blah blah. Joe pointed out that no one had called them jihadists and that the GOP Tea Party caucus said that they were happy with being called hostage takers and embraced the terminology. Heidi kept yelling saying that was a lie. Rev Al asked her what her response was to Palin saying on Hannity that if Americans were terrorists, President Obama would pal around with them. Lo and behold Heidi was uncharacteristically quiet and didn’t rebuke Palin. She then tried to redirect the conversation and kept yelling that dems should stop referring to the teabaggers as terrorists and Joe Madison let ‘er rip! He told Heidi point blank that until her side of the aisle stops referring to President Obama in racially tinged slurs such as “Tar Baby” and “Boy” they have NO leg to stand on. They may not like PBO, but they should damn well afford him the respect of calling him President Barack Obama. Whooooo!!!! I’m glad Joe called out Pat Buchanan’s use of the word “boy” when referring to PBO thereby also indirectly calling out MSNBC for their allowance of such a despicable creature on their newtwork.

Well, my husband and I are off to our party. I am so excited, wearing my Obama/Biden Tshirt I got from the campaign. Talk to you all afterwards. Can’t wait to hear from all who attended.

Rahm is still on the job defending PBO. Love it. 🙂

    Snip///

Emanuel, who spent 18 months as Obama’s White House chief-of-staff, considers Romney’s video taunt the height of hypocrisy and an insult to both Chicago and its presidential resident.

“Because of the tough decisions the president made, discarding all the conventional wisdom that was then spewed around, 1.2 million people today have a job. He didn’t listen to conventional wisdom … drafted by … Mitt Romney, who suggested that … the auto industry and all the related industrial base of America should just go bankrupt,” Emanuel said.

“President Obama doubled down on America. Mitt Romney wanted to see ‘em go bankrupt. And also, I’d just like to note to the [former] governor in case he needs a rendezvous with his record, when he was governor, Massachusetts was 47th out of 50 in job production. In case he forgot that, I’d like to remind him of that.”

Hey lady! Missed u yesterday. Donna is on vacation, and very active on Facebook. Are you on there? Miss the old days…the blog has good days and bad days. Lately has been pretty good. And don’t worry, I’m still in it and working hard for our president, despite having some concerns. As you can imagine, the lack of focus on jobs and the greater economy has been difficult for me to see, but we’ve got some room now, so I’m excited to see the president make a clean pivot toward jobs and investing, something I’ve been wanting all year. But I get it…the GOP has been forcing the subject to debt and spending cuts, so he had to deal with that given their control of the House. Anyway, excited to hear him speak soon! Glad you’re well!

      • August 3, 2011 at 8:18 pm

Hey! So glad to see you. Definitely miss the old days. Every time I drop by the blog, it just depresses my royally because all I see are trolls and more Brad. UGH!

Left Facebook and not back yet. I should get around to that, I know.

I hear ya on the JOBs focus. I have high hopes PBO will pivot swiftly.

    THE FAA SHUTDOWN:

WHO IS CONGRESSMAN JOHN MICA (R) OF FLORIDA AND WHAT DOES HE WANT? Think Progress provides the answer to that question. The media and every American should know that Representative John Mica is …………….

THE MAN WHO WANTS TO KILL MORE THAN 560,000 AMERICAN JOBS:

You’ve probably never heard of Rep. John Mica (R-FL), but he’s someone every American should know about because if he get his way, thousands of people in your home state will lose their jobs in the next year. There’s even a good chance some already have.

    =====================================================

Sen. Reid Calls It Right: FAA Shutdown Is About The GOP And Delta’s ‘Non-Union’ Stance

Much of the media coverage of the shutdown has framed it as simply another example of “Capitol Hill gridlock,” or has focused on cuts to rural airports that the House GOP included in the bill. But the crux of the matter is that House Republicans refused to reauthorize the FAA without the inclusion of a union-busting provision that would make it harder for workers at airlines and railways to organize. The cuts to rural airports — as House Transportation Committee Chairman John Mica (R-FL) freely admitted — were simply meant to stick it to Democratic senators (as they’re concentrated in states those senators represent).

The anti-union provision upon which the GOP is insisting has been desperately sought by big airlines, including Delta. Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) correctly summed up the story during an interview yesterday with NPR:

Great great EPIC fundraiser. The speech was wonderful. The AARP joke was funny. “I’m turning 50 tomorrow and I bet I’ll wake up with an email telling me to tell President Obama to protect Medicare.” 😆 Good one Mr. President. He knows how these lobby groups work. The winding down of his speech was SUPERB. He galvanized that crowd something wonderful. The pundits can scream their heads off that he’s losing youths, whites, blacks, liberals, women and older folks but it’s all lies, lies LIES!!! We on the ground know the true story and he reminded us that WE ARE AMERICA; WE HAVE A VOICE AND WE WILL NOT BE STOPPED. And boy! did the crowd roar!!!!!

Does anyone know if CNN or ustream or any other outlet is showing his other fundraiser which begins live at 9:25PM EDT/ 8:25PMCDT/ 6:25PMPDT?

Amen UT, you replayed it beautifully. That was a speech his supporters or followers needed at this time. Peace and human rights, that’s all I needed to hear.

    • August 3, 2011 at 9:02 pm

He was F A B U L O U S 🙂 had me jumping outta my seat all alone at home applauding like a crazy lady. Loved the AARP joke- because I actually received one of their knucklehead emails.. and unsubscribed! God he is something special.

      • August 3, 2011 at 9:19 pm

My mind is totally in the gutter right now. I was just thinking about the President loosening his tie during the speech.

        Fans self. Phew!!!

        • August 3, 2011 at 9:21 pm

hehe. Saw that too. Was hoping he’d take off his tie and throw it into the audience. 😳 At the end of the speech when he wiped his face with his handkerchief, I thought he’d throw that into the crowd too. So sexy. SS would have had a stampede if he’d done either. hehehehehehhehehe 😆

I just watched the video with the burger stop. So according to Peggy Noonan, no one loves this President? Well, if I was deaf, maybe I would’ve thought those people were throwing barbs at him and he was just funning for the cameras to save face. Some people really need a good f–k!

Praying that HZ’s surgery was a success and she comes back stronger than ever. 🙂

Praying that Fred’s kidney and back problems abate; and possible surgery is a success and she comes back stronger than ever with her special brand of cussin 😉

Praying that Joan recovers quicker from her bronchitis and comes back stronger than ever. 🙂
