That fool Jake Tapper is braying that “House Republicans have already won the argument” because taxes are totally off the table, and now it’s only cuts that are being discussed. PUHLEASE, Tapper…shut your flytrap and for once in your life and be a journalist and REPORT the facts, instead of spinning for the GOP.

And tell your other ABC tools to stop the both sides “don’t know what to do” and put the blame fairly and squarely on the GOP who started this crap in the first place.

Jake Tapper is such a nincompoop. He fools himself on his importance and relevance. I have no clue how Jay Carney deals with them patiently and in a strategically sound manner. He’s a great Press Secretary for sure. More power to him.

Bravo UT! It’s really amazing that idiots like Jake Tapper and Chuck Todd are taken seriously by any one. Of course the Press Secretary has to answer their tebag-Republican talking points the best way he can. But the fact that these are the people our country depends on for news and information is a sad commentary about the state of the MSM.

Although tax hikes are off the table…what is important to me…is that in the Reid bill there are no spending cuts to entitlement programs…which i think is not getting enough play

There are no spending cuts to entitlement programs, which is why the Repugs haven’t won ANYTHING, legislatively or otherwise.

Hopefruit, the fact is that taxes ARE off the table. The Reid plan has zero taxes. Zero revenues. House Republicans have won the legislative battle unless Obama pulls something dramatic like a veto. Obama has won the PR war though.

what would happen if he shut down govt until these idiots got their acts together? bet things would be more “compromising” then.

Halo, the Repugs biggest concern is NOT taxes per se. Their biggest concern is forcing the President to make substantial cuts in BENEFITS to social programs like SS and Medicare – which will result in voters punishing him in 2012. The Repugs STILL haven’t gotten what they really want – which is why the Teabaggers are MAD at the Reid plan.

If the repugs thought that hiking taxes would result in Obama’s losing in 2012 – they would be ALL for it. That’s their bottom line right now – anything that puts PBO in serious danger of losing in 2012.

“the Repugs biggest concern is NOT taxes per se. Their biggest concern is forcing the President to make substantial cuts in BENEFITS to social programs like SS and Medicare”

exactly and that will never happen. No way PO is going to make the middle class and lower income brackets carry the load of balancing the budget without revenues.

Although I hoped they would pass a balanced budget now, at this point I have no problem with them increasing the debt ceiling and balancing the budget after the elections when we kick the Repugs out of office. Will probably end up with a better deal anyway that has more impact and is based on shared sacrifice.

It is true, they have won that one. But there’re two wins for the Dems: We defended entitlements, and we took this debt ceiling fight off the radar until after the election. If the focus on the reporting is the “revenues” then yes they got that off the table for better or for worse.

Mitch McConnell was very clear: The #1 goal of the Republican party is to make sure that PRESIDENT Obama is a one term president. This whole theatrical exercise has absolutely nothing to do with debt, taxes or the debt ceiling. It’s all about making the government dysfunctional so that American people will blame President Obama. This is the lesson Republicans learned when they said “NO” to everything that President Obama proposed, and were rewarded with major electoral victories in the 2010 Congressional elections.

I don’t know why we are all missing the teabag-Republican MO! I am absolutely certain that the tebag-Republicans believe that plunging the country into economic chaos, which, they think, will be blamed on President Obama and the Democratic party, is their ticket to regaining total power in America. Although our dire economic situation is primarily a result of Republican policies, Republicans know that Americans have very short attention span. It is because of that short attention span that enabled Republicans to take over the House of Representative and elect right wing governors and legislatures in major states, in 2010. For right wing Republicans, the most important weapons to be unleashed against President Obama and the Democrats are: lies and fear! Sadly, the PL seems to sahre many of the tactics used in attacking and demonizing President Obama.

Everything you said is true. I wish PBO could share these facts with the American public, but he can’t cause it would make him appear to be seeking sympathy and validation. He will prevail………….KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!!

Don’t forget – the Bush tax cuts are still expiring in December and the President seems intent on letting them expire. I think if the entire middle class rose up and said they wanted to give up their tax cuts, it would completely cut the legs out from under the Republicans and leave them with nothing to hold hostage – giving the President more leverage. But, those tax cuts for the top 2% are going to expire this time – I’m pretty sure of it.

Remember – people thought the President wouldn’t get a second stimulus, but he snuck one in there with the December tax cut deal, which the PL are still complaining about. He’s a smart one, “that one”.

I enjoyed Jay on Hardball but he was way off when he said: ”In the end, we all root for American”…….no way the teabaggers care about the country, they want to destroy the economy, destroy the President, destroy all social programs …..they care about power, that’s it, nothing else.

So Ed Henry gets Fox a seat in the front row, quits CNN, moves to Fox and gets the seat in the front rowl. How convenient. What a jerk.

I think Ed is still chairman of the WHPC – and that’s why he gets to sit in the front row. Once Murdoch’ empire comes down, hopefully, FOX will be chased out of the briefing room, as they are just a gossip rag and so divisive.Nothing to do with journalism.

That’s just the lazy MSM talking point. The script as dictated by Koch brothers et al. No matter what happens – the Repugs “won.” Like when John McCain always “won” the presidential debates no matter how badly he did compared to then Senator Obama.

        who wins here?????…..

Lets be clear…..we are dealing with an IRRATIONAL group of legislators who WANT the government to go into default…they believe that this is the way to bring the government to its knees…Rep Walsh said today…that it is ok to go a day or two past the Aug 2nd deadline…he said that today on the Martin Bashir program….i am amazed when i hear such talk from a legislator….and he is not alone….

        if you remember…

INITIALLY all the President wanted was to raise the debt ceiling…..now some pundits think that the BIG deal that the President tried to do with Speaker Boehner was all a hoax…maybe it was…. maybe it wasn’t…i don’t know…

but what i do know is that the American people got a chance to see the TP/Republicans…UPCLOSE AND PERSONAL….and as you can see by the polls………. they do NOT like what they see…poll after poll show that the vast majority of Americans side with the President….that even Republicans do not want cuts in Medicare or Social Security….that they want a balanced approach to deficit reduction….a combo of spending cuts and tax revenues….these polls also show that most Americans do believe that the rich and the super rich should pay their fair share of taxes….be made to increase theirr contribution…esp since they have made out like fat rats…

This ideological battle between the President/Dems and the TP/Repubs have made it so CRYSTAL CLEAR who is on the side of the American People…..the Middle Class and the working poor…..

so yes the Reid bill….does not include tax hikes…..

but it does achieve 2 things….raises the debt ceiling beyond 2012….and makes no cuts to entitlement programs….which the President wanted all along….

        so you have to ask…..

who are the winners…..in this Battle….

***Alert*** From the Rittenberg Report via twitter: Boehner plan dealt setback by CBO. Plan will save only about $840B not the $1.2 trillion he advertised http://t.co/0Er5Lk8

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) scored Boehner’s two part extension debt ceiling plan and said it only saves/cuts $840 billion not $1.2 trillion as was purported by Boehner and Cantor. So the word out is that Boehner is scrambling to make up numbers that support his fucked up two part extension plan. Ain’t karma a bitch.

    • July 26, 2011 at 7:06 pm

Well, now Boehner is working on amending that bill so it has more cuts and will send it back to CBO to score again. OMG, this is just ridiculous. Time is of the essence and he’s still writing a bill. Cannot believe the gall.

in other news “THE UNDEFEATED”scored a lot less than expected…LOL grossed a whipping $24,000.00

The movie played in 14 Tea Party-friendly locations this weekend — up from the 10 in which it opened last week — but grossed just $24,00.

I am still @ laughing that even the teapartiers are starting to see the light.

  10. July 26, 2011 at 7:46 pm

LOL….too funny Desert….”Undefeated” was “Defeated” by it’s own star. simple math tells me that $1714.00/per theater wasn’t even enough to open the place….let alone pay the staff.
