crashing out

“…..and then Rusty Boehner’s site went down, and then McConnell’s, and then DeMint’s, and then…..”

Numerous websites for House and Senate members experienced downtime Monday night following a speech from President Barack Obama on ongoing talks to raise the debt ceiling.

The following websites were among those affected:

-Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)
-House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio)
-Rep. Elliot Engel (D-N.Y.)
-Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho)
-Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.)
-Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.)
-Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.)
-Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.)
-Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa)

…. UPDATE (10:53 p.m. ET): Some of the sites above are now experiencing intermittent issues. They seem to return briefly and go back down. Some say “Server too busy,” others say “Server error,” and some do not load at all.

UPDATE (11:10 p.m. ET): All the above sites seem to be back now except for Boehner’s, however most are loading slowly.

UPDATE (11:17 p.m. ET): The website of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is down at this time, as is the site of Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.). (HuffyPost)

I’m having the same thoughts as you Donna! I believe everyone thinks that way when they look at this pic.

Believe me alot more than what HP have listed were down. I had sent one N. Carolina Republican Congressman an email early afternoon. Around about 6pm. My sister also sent him a email. We had no trouble at all sending that email, but after the President ‘s speech, everytime I went to his website all l got was “Server too busy”. So I think there were alot other politicians who were hearing from the people last night. Of course with these crazy ass Tea-Republicans it won’t make any difference, and Boehner need to go see the wizard of oz, to get some courage. The cowardly speaker. But the people listen to our President last night.

And SUE D. SMITH, you are right, we have just begun to fight. I have always said that we who support this President and believe in him, are going to fight , till we can’t fight anymore. It’s just the beginning.

That’s the spirit, anniebella! The GOP Modus Operandi is to lie, cheat, steal, distort, distract, supress, depress, obstruct, wash, rinse, repeat. They’re goal is to try and wear out the masses by any means necessary.

I just e-mailed my representatives in the house, and the senate. This is another hot mess the GOP have gotten us into, and then they have the nerve to want us to go through this $H!t all over again with their Cut, Carry and Crash bill. I’ll be calling my reps as soon as the lines are open, and tell them not to even think about passing Bohener’s POS.

If you’re thinking of sending an email to your congress critter, just remember that a letter is much better than an email. Emails are not credible at all because of astroturfing. So please send a fax, hand written letter or call. Tim F. at Balloon Juice has the info about the how for anyone new to calling their congressperson: http://www.balloon-juice.com/2011/07/26/like-the-man-said/

Add Senator Toomey (R-PA) to that list. His was out all last night. HHHhhhmmm, wonder how I might know that??

I wonder if all were in fact down – assuming they’re all hosted on the same server. Rep. Camp’s was down until about 11:30ish – I tried to contact him because I remember reading that he was telling Wall Street folks that there would be a deal and the clean bill vote that was defeated a month or so ago was just for show, and that he was somewhat leading a faction of moderates that were getting fed up with Boehner catering to the teabaggers all the time.

Happy days are here! Hahaha what great news to wake up to this morning. Serves them right for discarding the people who sent them there. President Obama has a huge bully pulpit and when it comes to using it, he does so effectively. People woke up yesterday and more people have to keep waking up and let their voices be heard.

I had heard that the Gov of VA had gone along with the Teaparty lingo of no problem if the debt ceiling was not passed until he saw his state listed in the top five that would be most heavily affected. At that time he publically announced how important it was to pass the debt ceiling. I wonder if he spoke to Cantor about it and if not why not?

gobrooklyn, thanks for this link. I’ve checked it out and it is very helpful for someone to send a free fax. It has a sample letter, a link to representative’s fax numbers and a link w/instructions on how to fax your letter. We should go this route – it’s crash free and results in a hard copy of our demand.

I just sent faxes to Alexander, Corker, Duncan & Blackburn.

I had trouble with Boxer’s & Feinstein’s sites during the President’s speech, but finally got through around 10pm. No problem with My Rep Berman’s site – which I also called this morning.

The sites of Senator Hatch of Utah and Representative Rob Bishop of Utah are both down. So is the site of the certifiably insane representative Mike Lee, R, Utah who claims he’s going to force the country into default if there isn’t a no-taxes amendment to the US Constitution., BlahBlahBlah…http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/07/gop-lawmaker-admits-he-extorting-congress-to-rewrite-constitution/

I remember well when he was elected; I sent a letter to the editor to the Herald Journal here in Logan, Utah, congratulating those who had voted a madman to the US House to further enforce the nutcase-reputation Utah had for some time with thinking people in this state.

He looks as crazy now as he sounded then.

    Alas.
