Boehner threw in the towel. Unbelievable. Wouldn’t even return the President’s phone call today. Pres. Obama said he has been “left at the altar” a couple of times after he believed they had an agreement. The tea party freshmen are idiots and are willing to wreck the country and “will not say yes to anything”. Obama ordered the leadership to the WH tomorrow at 11:00 to tell him how to proceed, what they want to do to avoid a huge crisis.

Wasn’t that during the whole Donald Chump/birth certificate nonsense? Who wouldn’t be mad about the media obsession over the Chump and his “investigation” into where Obama was born?

I know if I were in his shoes, at tomorrow’s 11 AM meeting, I’d be chewing all of them out and putting my feet up their asses! I’ve had enough of the political games being played by Bonehead and McTurtle. But of course, McTurtle cares more about making Obama a one termer than about getting anything done for the people.

        July 22, 2011 at 6:37 pm

I have no clue africa. The only thing I can gather is that they’ll (Pelosi, Reid, Boehner and McConnell) meet at 11AM tomorrow and hash out all sorts of proposals. If worst comes to worst, they’ll pass a bill that’ll hand the responsibilty of raising the debt ceiling to POTUS.

PBO is mad as hell. He never raised his voice but this press conference reminded me of the day he held a press conference to release his long form birth certificate. The gloves are off. This was a no holds barred speech. Boehner and the GOP just dug their graves.

The message he received was that Boner was walking away. He has no influence over the tea party contingent and can’t move them. He threw in the towel. He’s ineffective, a weenie. He’s a failure as a leader and he’s failed his country.

I cannot believe Boehner just walked away like a petulant child. WTF????? I am loving this press conference. The gloves are off now. POTUS offered $1 trillion in domestic and discretionary cuts, $650 billion in SS, Medicare and Medicaid cuts to strengthen the programs for the next 10 years and all he wanted in return was $1.2 trillion in cuts. That’s all. He asked for less tax revenue than the gang of 6 proposal and Boehner still walked out? What an ass-hat. I’m glad that POTUS is calling each and everyone of them out. I’m glad he said they signed a pledge with some fringe activist (Norquist) and they’ve emphatically said they aren’t willing to compromise on anything or say yes to anything. He even gave Boehner some leeway so he wouldn’t get heat from Norquist and still Boehner walked out? I’m also glad POTUS is letting everyone know that Hary Reid and Nancy Pelosi were willing to negotiate but Boehner wouldn’t budge. What kind of fucktards do we have in congress?

      July 22, 2011 at 6:40 pm

Wow, you’re actually agreeing with Bonehead walking away like a pussy?

    • 40 hopefruit2
      July 22, 2011 at 6:46 pm

StR, you are missing the point completely. If John Boner was as serious as they claimed to be about debt and deficits – they would have accepted this deal. They couldn’t accept 70% cuts in domestic spending because they were unwilling to give up 25% in revenues from wealthy individuals and rich corporations. And furthermore, they do NOT want to simply raise the debt ceiling – which brought this whole thing about in the first place.

So you are sidetracking the issue here to pin this on the President when it’s the Republicans who have revealed their true disgusting selves.

      • July 22, 2011 at 7:03 pm

I’m not pinning it on the President. He tried, Boehner didn’t and very likely never planned to. However looking at the last offer that Boehner walked from rather than agreeing to the revenues was not a deal I think many folks would have been able to stomach.

        Agree completely.

    • July 22, 2011 at 6:50 pm

President Obama gave a reason for this at the press conference. Probably it’s worth listening to a second time.

Bottom line… Hard things are hard. And this is what being a leader means. It’s as plane as that.

      • July 22, 2011 at 7:05 pm

Things are hard, and I understand cuts have to be made, but when you have 2/3rds of Washington given you have the White House and the Senate majority there is no way there should be an 80-20 bill favoring the GOP. The President himself said it was an ugly deal that gave way too much from our end.

        • 45 nintendowii10
          July 22, 2011 at 7:12 pm

Dude, you are really sounding more and more like a PL. President Obama needs the support of the Republicans to get ANY deal passed to raise the debt ceiling because they control the House.

But you are missing the bigger point, which is that yes Obama and the Dems have been compromising, and the Republicans have not, that was and has been the point. The Republicans haven’t been willing to budge, heck POTUS said “The GOP are unwilling to say YES to anything.”

      July 22, 2011 at 6:57 pm

yes, SR, I am relieved. PBO was either thinking what Lawrence O’Donnell has been saying (SAY but not meet all demands; theater). My gut tells me PBO really wants reform of the entire system, but after meeting with the Democratic leadership yesterday AFTER an obvious tactical leak from the DEM side (3 trillion/triggered tax reform, no immediate tax hikes), the die was cast.

      No Grand Bargain.

PBO now must shift to the blame game. Lawrence will say that was the plan all along. I disagree.

But in this game of cards, Boehner folded after saying, “call”, and will reap the consequences.

BUT, beware. America does not want only the Bernie Sanders’s declaration of victory; they want results.

PBO has a big task next week keeping public opinion on his side.

And didn’t President Obama tell the reporters that a step by step, minute by minute detailing of all the ups and downs of the negotiations will be made available to them? All the brutal, honest truth of what has been going on. And for anyone on our side to be willing to condemn President Obama with this deal that never happened, none of us know the final details, and I have a feeling they are not as rumored, well, that is very premature and very unattractive and shameful of you.

    What a masterful performance.

Lawrence O’Donnell saw it all. I mean if it’s not clear to see now, I don’t know if it can ever be seen.

The Big 3 were never on the table. “Nothing is agreed to until it’s agreed to.” POTUS knew that the guy with his head on the vice was Speaker Boehner.

One one hand Boehner had his real bosses, Big Businesses, telling him to RAISE THE DAMN DEBT CEILING. Boehner is no moron. He’s been in Washington for a long time. He knows what a Default means.

On the other hand Boehner has his Teabagger Caucus, who are literally too stupid and new to understand what a Default means. So they just want to raise it come hell or high water.

Obama looks like he played them all, the Left and the Right. He knew any plan he put on the table, let alone a plan with the Big 3, would be accepted by the Speaker. He also knew that by putting the Big 3 on the table, he’d get a lot of heat from the PL, which would make Obama look like he was willing to sell out his own Party in order to get a deal passed.

Well lo-and-behold, no big deal is happening now. There was never any risk to the Big 3, and now there’s NO MORE TIME. The deadline isn’t August 2nd. A deal needs to be reached by MONDAY in order for America’s rating not fall and catastrophe to happen. So now what’s likely is a clean or nearly-clean raise of the debt ceiling by any means necessary.

But that was just one goal of this whole thing. The other goal for Obama was to show America just how batshit insane the GOP is. He even “put the Big 3” on the table, gave 3-1 spending cuts, and they STILL didn’t go for it. And at the same time Obama looks like “the most reasonable man in the WORLD.” when it comes to the deficit and the debt throughout this whole ordeal.

It all became clear through that Presser. Unbelievable. I don’t know of LOD was the only other man outside the WH to see it happening, but it looks like he was right. POTUS played both the PL and the Teahadists.

If it all comes to pass, and there’s a clean or nearly clean debt-ceiling raise throught 2013, this might go down as one of the greatest political moves in modern history.

Keith I agree. I also disagree with this presser as a “performance”. Seems we are so attuned to being enfotained that we actually miss it when a politician is true to his/her word. PBO in my mind was not being political this evening. He was down-right livid at the audacity of such miscreants and ingrates to figuratively throw cold water in his face, and by extension, leave the American people hanging by a thread. All for the sake of their rich masters. I don’t mind saying it….I HATE REPUBLICANS.

We have a decent President dealing with an impossible opposition, dunderheads who don’t have the sense they were born with. The Repuibs are willing to greatly damage this country because they are being held hostage by the most idiotic people ever to serve in our government, these tea party House freshmen. “Effective” is the adjective I’m hearing from all sides, describing President Obama relating this impossible situation, laying it all on the line for the American people.

Actually Chipsticks allows for conversations across the spectrum and that is what is great about this site. There is nothing wrong with being aware of all sides of a conversation. In fact it is imperative that we are aware of the discussions otherwise you end up in an echo chamber . . . talking out loud and signifying nothing.

That is what I love about TOD, that balance. Chips leads by example in a way that discussions can happen in a respectful way. Obviously she filters out much of the garbage but she does not restrict a conversation just because it makes us uncomfortable.

That is how we grow. Keep up the fight Keith.

This post is a reminder of how valuable this blog is on so many levels. Thank you Chipsticks for all you do and to the participants. I may not post regularly but I read and learn from you daily.

        Enjoy your vacation Chips.

I have no doubt that the concessions that POTUS, Pelosi and Reid presented regarding Medi & SS were not gonna hurt the average American receiving these benefits – they had already stated that there would be slight adjustments to the higher tier recipients who could afford gradual increases. All our leaders were asking for was some concessions in loop-holes or tax adjustments from the Repugs and they REFUSED!

Exactly. This deal was more than fair on the side of spending cuts. The cuts were tough but needed and I believe the way POTUS framed the cuts, they would strengthen the programs for the next 10 years. The tax revenue was no big deal, it wasn’t a huge revenue increase and still these jackasses acted like kids.

Gosh that press conference was intense. POTUS never raised his voice, but was anyone else as on the edge of their seats as I was? He was pissed off. The subtle, quiet but lethal kind of pissed off. Boy did he call them out!

The President is talking about raising the debt ceiling through 2013. He means to take it off the table for 2012 election. The GOP wants to use this as a tool to drag him down in 2012 because they have NOTHING of substance to offer. Their candidates are all a bunch of weak, moronic, vile, racist phony, flip-floppers.

dotster (if you are still around) I think that a VERY important part of what has just happened is longer term strategy that you have not mentioned. what do the American people know that they didn’t know before the debate started getting intense?
        1. The GOP is ruled by a bunch of special interests that pay for their elections and make them sign pledges. Norquist is distasteful to most Americans. We got to see a lot of him.
        2. We have seen the media pander to these clowns. Americans aren’t that stupid. The GOP is bought. So is the media.
        3. We have seen the extremism in the GOP: That thing with West? DW Shultz mentioning him on the floor of the house was intentional. He couldn’t leave it alone and she know it. He showed himself to be a total as..hole, and america got to see it.
        4. Despite Boehner’s “jello” statements they have NOT negotiated in good faith. We get that. How many times did they walk out?
        4. Now we still have to get the debt ceiling raised til after the election. C\all your representatives.

Not to worry Donna. Our President has got this. Strange, that this thing seems to be playing out exactly as Lawrence O’Donnell predicted….And Obama is looking like the only adult in the room, once again.

I know some of you are focused on the President being upset, but this was a masterful press conference. The President effectively called out the media for doing the false equivalency of “both sides are equally unwilling to compromise” and showed them very clearly that it’s the Republicans who are too COWARD to go against their corporate overlords. He has weathered the anger and disapproval from his own party, and Pelosi and Reid have also been willing to negotiate despite being unhappy about the cuts. Yet the Democratic leaders were the adults in the room. The Republicans are now exposed as being not serious about debt and deficit UNLESS it involves cutting necessary safety nets for the poor, elderly and middleclass.

It’s beyond the scope of what this government should have to deal with no matter who’s president. Time is definitely running out. There’s a reason he held this presser after the markets closed.

For if he was on sure footing, when he made that decision today, and alerted the press, as Sherijr noted above before calling the president, that’s when he should have had his press conference.

They still have much to learn from this president.

Boehner did not plan for what happened when PBO turned the tables on him and the republicans. They issued a challenge, PBO responded in a way that meant they’d HAVE to demonstrate that they meant what they said about cutting spending and attacking the deficit. They were playing games, but PBO was dead serious. PBO exposed them for the liars and hypocrites they are, and he showed America that when the time comes to make difficult decisions and fulfill promises, the republicans can do neither of these.

Now, find yourself some wine, coffe, put some music on, say some great words and shout your words to Boehner, and then relax. President Obama did not show us anything that was new about his personality. He just knows when to use it and for what purposes. He used the right thing for the right time. We are in great hands. All I’ve heard from republicans and the PL for the past 2 years is “PBO is weak.” I hope these azzzhats are paying attention and are realizing that PBO is the one who has NOT walked away from the responsibility of having to make difficult decisions about how to reduce the deficit and on budget issues.

Well, knock me over with a feather, but PBO is ALWAYS talking about jobs, the rethugs talked about jobs during mid-terms. The turds covered up the jobs issue with the deficit and debt ceiling, concealing their unconcern about jobs. When the media starts to get the story right, I will patronize them. I absolutely loathe Andrea Mitchell. I didn’t see the interview, but I can just imagine it was “a pox on both their houses” lazy analysis. I guess she doesn’t want to make any of her GOP sources angry. It reminded me of this post from Steve Benen…..

WHEN ONLY ONE HOUSE DESERVES THE POX:

        ——–excerpt———–

Let me put this as plainly as I know how: if you’re watching this debt-ceiling fiasco, and you think both parties are equally responsible for the mess, then you’re simply not paying close enough attention.

Forget subjective questions and consider the basics. GOP leaders are saying they want a deal that’s 100% in their favor. If they don’t get what they want, many Republicans are at least open to crashing the economy on purpose. As the process unfolds and the deadline draws closer, the GOP line is hardening and becoming more extreme.

In contrast, we have the Obama White House and congressional Democratic leaders, who are prepared to accept all kinds of concessions to make Republicans happy. This includes a series of compromise offers that lean heavily in the GOP’s favor.

There’s no question here which side of the political divide is open to compromise. There’s also no question which side has rejected any and all attempts at finding common ground.

And there’s also no question that tired media assumptions lead to coverage and analysis like this — blaming both sides equally because it’s easier than thinking about the facts.

This is a moment of BEAUTY. Please enjoy every second of it.

You are witnessing a once in a life-time experience of leadership.

The only comparable event in my entire life was watching Pres Kennedy handle the Cuban missile crisis.

The difference is that this President has handled an order of magnitude more challenges and has done the Nation enormous good in the face of near total obstruction from the Republicans.

Anyone with at least two neurons synapsing realizes that President Obama is the real deal. And, you don’t want to be in town, let alone in the room with him when he’s pissed.

Dear makesense, lmrj, Gc, EDP and aguagranny,

        Appreciate your comments.

We have a leader – we all knew that well before the election in 2008.

Much of the world has realized it well before many Americans were willing to admit it.

As it happens, these treasonous Republicans and the very, very, very few avaricious individuals who fund their attack on the Republic, are day after day being exposed for just what they are.

And, day by day by day, President Obama, not by attacking them but by being the President of the United States of America, not the President of the Democratic Party, is winning the support of the vast majority of Americans.

That’s Leadership you can believe in.

        Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!

Everyone, this is the number for Speaker Boehner. 202-225-6205. Call him. Even if you get a voicemail, leave a message because they listen to messages. His twitter handle is @SpeakerBoehner and @johnboehner. I tweeted his number to all my twitter followers. He didn’t answer the President’s multiple calls instead he went and told the media he was walking out on the talks and immediately set up a press conference. But our masterful POTUS kicked his ass aside, held a press conference before him and creamed him. The fightback has begun on twitter with people tweeting, calling, and emailing. His website has crashed. Enough is enough. We’re taking 2012 back and handing both chambers to adults.

Circling your, circling your, circling your head,
    Contemplating everything you ever said
Now I see the truth, I got doubt
A different motive in your eyes and now I’m out
    See you later
I see your fantasy, you want to make it a reality paved in gold
See inside, inside of our heads (yeah)
    Well now that’s over
I see your motives inside, decisions to hide

    [Chorus:]
    (Fuck!)
Back off I’ll take you on
    Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
    Headstrong we’re headstrong
Back off I’ll take you on
    Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong and this is not where you belong
    I can’t give everything away
    I won’t give everything away

    [Verse 2:]
Conclusions manifest, your first impressions got to be your very best
I see you’re full of shit, and that’s alright
That’s how you play, I guess you’ll get through every night
    Well now that’s over
I see your fantasy, you want to make it a reality paved in gold
See inside, inside of our heads (yeah)
    Well now that’s over
I see your motives inside, decisions to hide

    [Chorus]

    [Verse 3:]
    I know, I know all about [x3]
I know, I know all about your motives inside, and your decision to hide

    .Hi All,

    I do not know how the press sat there and allowed The Speaker to lie so many times;

1 He had a revenue deal with the President and then the President changed the figure. Didn’t the speaker say yesterday that there was no deal?

2 The first line of his letter to Congress says his problem was the President’s balking at cutting entitlements. Which is the right reason?

    3. He says the President never put anything on the table and gave his jello analogy. Did you have a deal with someone who put nothing on the table? Then you are more stupid than I thought.

    4. He says that bill they passed is his position on the Debt Ceiling. Then why were you still negotiating with the President?

Anyhow he has taken up his marbles and he is going to play with his other friends, like if they are all om the same page. The man is a joke.

        • July 22, 2011 at 10:47 pm

And besides this was too important for the president to be sitting there pretending with a blank piece of paper bluffing. LO just doesn’t want to be wrong about his take on this aspect that the president was just pulling a fast one on the Republicans.

As I said before, this analysis of his makes it seem as though the president had no actual plans, but instead he was just being a smart politician hoping that the Republican won’t accept the deal

We know PBO is smart, but we also know that he is not one for such political gimmickery.

The president said they other day in another press conference that they had spreedsheets sprawled across desks looking at the numbers. He is not one for posturing and political gamesmanship

LO needs to stop with this silly analysis. He’s barking up the wrong tree with that one. and it is getting old.

They can’t even listen to the man speak, how in hell can they read his mind. Shut them off. They will not spoil our joy. Our joy is not for them to dish out when they decide to do so. We bring our joy to the table with us. And tomorrow believe me, Boehner and McConnell better be ready for President Barack Obama because the President will be kicking some wide behinds all over that WH. Though I can be quietly stubborn about my ‘ feelings’, 😉 I somehow find it reassuring when others reveal that they too get nasty vibes from LO’s persistent and arrogant revelation of what is in PBO’s mind. I first felt the queasiness sometime last week when he repeatedly stated that the President was dishonest (lying), and I remember being reassured by several family members here (Africa, among them) that LO was out of line. That was the last LO segment I watched, as his perception of the President deviated so drastically from mine that I ‘lost faith’ in him. He just seemed too gleeful in his ‘knowledge’ of President Obama’s character to be credible any longer to me. I so agree with StR that he’s trying to undercut the President – one would think he’s not so stupid not to see that the repetition of his meme does nothing to help the process along. As GC says, sometimes first impressions don’t pan out. Last week in a continuation of the dialogue I suggested that maybe LO was trying to pull his own rope-a-dope on PBO’s supporters by his first rope-a-dope analysis of the President’s strategy, then once he had reeled us in, he could play with our support. However, my response flew into cyberspace when I tried to post it. Not having watched him since I can’t support this feeling, but the comments here suggest that he has continued in his unproductive/unhelpful vein. Sigh! Oh for MORE THAN ONE liberal pundit or journalist who will report with integrity on this president without trying to show off THEIR ‘smarts’!

              • July 23, 2011 at 12:04 pm

Oh great, I’ve lost another LO comment – I don’t like his meme – in cyberspace! This time because I didn’t notice that I was flying under the anonymous flag. Grrrrr! Grr! 😦

    Pray this prayer daily
This prayer , Our Father, is for President Barack Obama. Heavenly Father, I pray this prayer in the power of the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ to bind, rebuke, cast out and bring to no effect all spirits of division, discord, disunity, strife, anger, wrath, , criticism, condemnation, pride, envy, jealousy, gossip, slander, evil speaking, complaining, lying, false teaching, false gifts, false manifestations, lying signs and wonders, complaining spirits, hindering spirits, retaliatory spirits, deceiving spirits, occult spirits, witchcraft spirits. Lord bind and break all curses that have been spoken against Obama., bind all spoken judgments made against him, bind the power of negative words from others, and bind and render useless all prayers not inspired by the Holy Spirit; that have been prayed against him.
No weapon formed against Obama shall prosper. Lord I pray that the Holy Spirit guides him and lead him into victory. Lord take authority over Satan and all his demons, and those people who are influenced by him. I declare Satan is under Obama feet and shall remain there.
The Obamas are God’s property. Satan you are bound from his family, his mind, his body, his home, and the country finances.. Whatsoever Obama set his hands to do shall prosper for God supplies all his needs.
Anoint Obama God for all you have called him to do for you. I ask you God, in the name of Jesus, that you dispatch angels to surround Obama his spouse and children, In the name of Jesus I pray that you will send angels to protect the white house from any intrusion and to protect Obama and his family from any harmful demonic or other physical or mental attacks. I ask this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.

    This is inexcusable.

Earlier this evening, Republican Speaker John Boehner quit negotiations with President Obama, refusing to raise the debt ceiling to secure tax breaks for big oil companies and his billionaire jet-owning friends.

It’s now clearer than ever that Republicans won’t say yes to anything and would rather see our economy fall into catastrophic default than offend Grover Norquist and the Tea Party fringe by asking billionaires to pay their fair share.

Enough is enough. If Republicans would rather carry water for big oil companies and shadowy special interests than work on behalf of ordinary Americans, we are going to make sure their constituents know about it.

The DCCC is launching a hard-hitting advertising campaign starting this weekend and continuing through August to hold Republicans accountable.

He called it a night, went to his special family, prayed to and put his trust in his Maker, and is gathering strength and resolve to take the bull by the horns again, tomorrow. This man is straight about what he is fighting for, so I do not need to hear anything else from LOD and his co-horts rehash what they have already discussed…..just beat the heck out of this issue. Go home LOD and everyone else. Frum says he hasn’t negotiated successfully, has been thrown off, etc., etc., etc., blah, blah, blah, blankety blank. ……”click” …there, TV is off. Nite all and peaceful dreams and prayers for PBO and relief from the heat, and keep hope alive 😀

Obama Gets A Hickory Stick And Takes The GOP To The Woodshed

This was a masterful use of the bully pulpit, by a president who often gets criticized by those on the left and right for not showing enough emotion. At this press conference, Obama showed more than emotion. He revealed where his heart is. This president is trying to protect the most vulnerable members of our society, and those who are hurting in this recession.

The message was clear and powerful. Republicans want to cut the deficit by hurting those who are most in need of our help. Republicans are more interested in playing politics than reducing the debt. Republicans are cowards who refuse to make the tough decisions. Most importantly, his message to average Americans was I am here working for you. I am willing to make the tough decisions, and take the heat from my own party for uncomfortable compromises.

Not only did Obama position himself as working for the American people, but he painted the Republicans as Washington politicians who are beholden to their ideology and special interests.

Who the heck is Boehner not to take The President’s phone call…God forbid this was a security threat…or a natural disaster, and the President acted alone..then I dare this mofos ask anything to why, they weren’t informed….These folks are some sick sick puppies…and will be glad when they are voted off ASAP.
Sick and tired of being sick and tired.

    • July 22, 2011 at 10:22 pm

As I keep saying those who didn’t go vote, those who voted for Republicans to try to send the Dems a message, well you are responsible for their being a Speaker Boehner and those crazy racists Tea Party members of Congress.

      • July 22, 2011 at 10:25 pm

If these people had had faith in this President and stuck with him, not give up on him, President Obama would not be dealing with these crazy Tea-Republicans. And that gutless Speaker of the House.

        • July 22, 2011 at 10:37 pm

I always said America was going to pay for 2010. I just hope it doesn’t pay by destroying this country.

Anniebella you were right about 2010…PBO kept telling them not to give them the keys back…and they did…then we had the P/L Ed Shultz, telling dems not to vote, well they got what they deserved…Hopefully 2012 America will rise up and vote “D”

            • July 23, 2011 at 8:06 am

Kasai, all they had to do was give the man a little more time, at least the first four years. But no everybody got upset because they didn’t get what they wanted, the economy wasn’t recovering fast enough, so they foolishly went to the other side or they didn’t vote at all. WELL, I hope they are satisfied. Right now if Pelosi was still Speaker we would be focusing on getting this economy stronger, trying to help people fine work. The debt ceiling would have been raised and they still could be working on the deficit too. Instead we have that spineless Speaker Boehner being lead around by the nose by those racists crazy tea party. If the people have any dam sense and I’m talking about these Progressives too, they better wake up and realize we have a dam good President in office right now and we need him for four more years. And we need to do our best to get rid of those Tea-Republicans. First on the list John Boehner.

Wait a minute. Shouldn’t the President have Boehner’s cell phone number ?Why should he have to call his office? Who the hell does this pipsqueak Boner man think he is? Disrespect at its height!

Here’s the video where Pres. Obama does a masterful job of explaining his own temperament… (Smartypants posted it also)

What slays me every time I’ve watched it, is that megawatt smile of his. I never want to be on the wrong side of Barack Obama.

Hey TODers. Late commenting here because I was glued to my TV riveted by our President’s magnificent press conference. Damn, he’s even finer when he’s pissed. I was on my couch whooping and yelling and LMAO at Boehner and reading your comments on my iPhone. Boy Boehner and the repubs got a butt kicking tonight from the most brilliant President this country has ever had. Boehner’s press statement was pathetic. He’s depending on the media to spin this for him, but he can’t spin what the American people saw with their own eyes.

They saw a leader in PBO and a bumbler trying to act tough while following his tea party masters. I truly thought the man was going to cry.

Best of all, the repubs know they are screwed. I know because I flipped to Fox just for giggles and Chris Wallace had on a panel of Krauthammer and two other repubs and they all looked shell-shocked. Even crabby, bigoted ol Charles had to admit that PBO’s press conference was extraordinary.

My favorite lines of the night: “I’ve summoned the leadership to be here at the WH at 11 o’clock and they’re going to have to tell me how we’re going to keep the country from defaulting.”

And of course, “If you want to be a leader, you’re going to have to lead.”

Then he did that swagga from the podium and out of the press room.

I am so proud of our President.

Also got to say that Rev Al did a great job of covering such an important breaking news story. Better than Larry.

Brian, sleep well. Remember this is only the beginning of many more like this as we get closer to 2012. Remember 2008, and all of the shit they threw at him, well put your boots on because the President has been wearing his from the get go. Let’s move, it is time to kick some more sense into these fools. Good night TOD family.
