as promised…..

MSNBC: The Pentagon will announce Friday that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and the Joint Chiefs have certified that the military is ready to end “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” the policy preventing gays from openly serving, senior defense officials tell NBC News.

Each member of the Joint Chiefs had to submit a recommendation to Panetta, indicating that they are far enough in their training to repeal DADT, and that it will not have an impact on military readiness.

The next step is for President Barack Obama to certify the repeal, which then begins a 60-day waiting period to implement the repeal — before “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” is officially a thing of the past.

The Pentagon has been in the process of writing rules for the new policy, and Friday’s announcement will clear another hurdle toward repeal…..

Good morning all. Another promise kept by our brilliant President. I’m posting a link to an awful article by Peggy Noonan, she who continues to weep on St. Ronnie’s grave. It’s a horrible attack and she needs to get a lot of twitter love from us over this.

Let’s slam her and don’t stop.

Proud of Obama, that article is dripping with H.A.T.E. It’s not even analysis – it’s all out personal attacks and insults in the guise of a “column.” The only thing left for her to say is the N-word…and she’s pretty much said the equivalent in the article. The WSJ should be ashamed to print this garbage.

I will take your advice and blast her on Twitter.

      • July 22, 2011 at 9:34 am

That’s why I’m so angry. I’m tired of the hate. These people hate him just because he’s black. Sorry but that’s the truth and we need to call it what it is. Would she dare tell Reagan not to speak out on something that involves the country he leads? Shameful.

        • July 22, 2011 at 10:05 am

I hope everyone with a twitter account takes it to her. As soon as I can get my hands on her e-mail, she will hear from me.

This piece of garbage wreaks with hate and nonesensical attacks. It is clear that a vast majority of these people have a huge problem with this man being president of this country.

One can only imagine the expletives directed at him when they think no one is listening. They hide behind these stupid colums to spew their pseudo-intellectual abuses toward this president.

And increasingly, it is not just the people on the right who use their glorified platforms to insult PBO. On the left, it is even worse. They take the liberties of slandering and maligning his character, because after all they wear that label around their necks — liberals and progressives. And by virtue of this fact, they claim they can say whatever they want.

This gives them the freedom to direct their nasty barbs at him that even they in their hypocrisy would condemn Repbulicans for uttering.

But hey, they are liberals and progressives. And in their self-egotistical minds, they are entitled.

That’s why we cannot allow them to simply get away with this kind of ugliness, whether it comes from the right or left.

          Not this time!!

Thanks for the link to the article and her twitter handle Proud. Everytime I see Peggy Noonan on Morning Joe, I just want to puke. She thinks the President has a grating voice, well her voice is like fingernails going down a chalkboard. She always has this mother of the earth know it all attitude and she will never admit that Ronald Reagan did some real damage to the middle and working class of this country and also made it his life’s mission to wreck labor unions of all stripes. Her attacks in the column are uncomfortably personal. I have no clue where the msm gets this idea that a President can only do one thing at a time. Heck, everyday citizens complete more than one task in a given work period. Just because the President wasn’t on the floor of Congress screaming his head off about the debt deal, doesn’t mean he wasn’t involved in the discussions from the get go. VP Biden was charged by POTUS to see if both sides could come to a compromise and provide a deal without him always having to hold their hands. POTUS was the first person about 4 months or so ago to call for serious talks on the debt ceiling. After he averted the govt shutdown he said congress needs to begin talks on the debt ceiling. But oh….. know it all Noonan will never mention that in her prejudiced column. She’s mad that finally the American people are seeing that POTUS is the adult and really has their best interests at heart and is not some nutjob who signed a pledge to the cult of Norquist and took an oath that is unconstitutional.

Noonan will never say anything about the way(s) St. Ronnie’s economic policies hurt America/Americans, utal, because she was in the class of people who reaped the greatest number of benefits from them! Noonan and many of the others in the Beltway Media Clusterf*ck Group, Inc., want the Obamas to be subservient to them, but the Obamas have refused to do it. The Obamas “failure” to suck up to BMCG, Inc., has angered them, made the Obamas their primary targets, and made them vow to do everything in their power to run them out of D.C. on a rail–the sooner, the better. As noted in your post, utal, the hatred and lack of respect BMCG, Inc. has for PBO and his family is out in the open for all to see. I am not the least bit concerned about the opinions/feelings of Noonan and the others in BMCG, Inc. because they helped to create this fiasco, and they did it with lies and huge smiles on their faces.

Its shows anger from her because President Obama has shown the republicans for what they are. She could say nothing more but insults. That whole article showed bitterness, and it made her look envious and amatuer. He just brought her down with er own article. like the champion that he is , just being himself, makes others who despise him irrelevant.

Even Fox’s poll has the President on top. Very poorly written story but here’s the main point:

Romney does best against the president and is the only GOP candidate to keep Obama’s edge to single digits. Obama tops Romney by 6 percentage points. In addition, Romney is the only Republican in these early matchups to top Obama among independents — by 6 points.

Independents were essential to Obama’s victory in 2008 — backing him 52 percent to Republican John McCain’s 44 percent (Fox News exit poll).

Obama has a 10-point advantage over both Pawlenty and Perry, and tops Bachmann by 11 points. The president’s widest gap — 13 points — is over Cain.

What about Hunstman and Ron Paul? They’re not in the running? Somehow I’m not surprised that Fox News has Cain with the widest lag. He would NEVER be the GOP Nominee even if he led Obama by double digits.

Huntsman just fired his campaign manager. Some woman; I forget her name. He said that she wasn’t providing an aggressive itinerary and he wants to move his campaign in an aggressive manner and let people know he’s still in the game. When I heard this on Morning Joe this morning, I burst out laughing because not only had I forgotten Huntsman was in the race, but everyone around the table began laughing after they read his statement. They were all like “oh, he’s still in the race?” It was hilarious.

Every time President Obama honors one of his promises which effects change, I think about this Margaret Mead poem. It is one of my favorite poems.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

I think the president inspires us all to be a part of the change, whether incrementally or on a large scale. I never bet against this president or doubt his efforts.

Yes, we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

    PBO continues to inspire me.

Great poem africa. I’m happy that more and more LGBT citizens are becoming more cognizant of the giant steps and reforms that this President has taken to bend the arc towards justice. In 60 days that reprehensible law will officially be a thing of the past. Hopefully POTUS will win in 2012, retain a democratic majority in the senate and once again have a democratic majority in the house so that DOMA can be repealed. Onward we march. Thank you meta. There is a lot of faux anger and poutrage by the PL and their operatives based on the President’s editorial in the NY Times as well as rumors about Reid and Democrats being “angry” with the President for “making deals with Boehner behind their backs.”

Next week at this time, all of this nonsense will be straightened out and the fauxgressive blogs will be silent on this issue with egg on their faces. We’ve seen this episode numerous times before, and it’s now in my archive of re-runs of re-runs.

I know right? No deal has been made and every talking head and major newspaper outlet has been talking about how POTUS has betrayed the dems. They’ve been outlining different sections of this so called deal that doesn’t exist. First they say one thing and then in the next minute they contradict what was just said. After a while I just tuned them out.

The MSM and the PL play Democrats like a fiddle. They’ve sown mistrust ever since PBO came on the scene and every single time there’s a an issue about progress or a vote in Congress they ignite that flame of anger with lies and self-serving rumors and all kinds of ugliness and generate even more mistrust. Lots of money involved and Dems play right along. It’s disgusting.

The PUMAs are desperate for someone (Hillary) to primary Obama. (Which will not happen.)

Every day that Obama’s poll numbers go up, the PUMAs go a little more insane.

Meta, I believe it’s the opposite. SOME jealous Democrats in congress are using the PL (who are part of the MSM) to attack this President and undermine his credibility, since poll after poll shows that Obama is the most trusted of all parties involved in these negotiations. Many of the Democrats in congress would NOT like to see their own tax cuts expire and are trying to trip up the President under the guise of outrage about so-called cuts to SS and Medicare.

It may very well be both!

      • July 22, 2011 at 9:41 am

        Hope, you are so right.

I know I sound like a broken record. But I have lived in this country for more than two decades and I have never seen a president treated this way, and more importantly, not by his own party. Never!!

I have been through Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush. Never seen anything like it. Even with the whole Clinton/Lewinsky affair, never seen such a thing.

This started way back in the primaries and during the general election campaign. I think some are still angry that the president did not have to kiss their rings to move past them and become president. During the campaign, my sister who lives in Maryland, would call me breathing fire about how president Obama (then Senator Obama) got no assist from people in his party, even when he was being called a Muslim (not that anything is wrong with being a Muslim). There were so many instances in which the president had to fend for himself. At that time, they were all silent.

Because we were very engaged in the Clinton/Gore campaign, we compared notes, and we were both appalled at the treatment of this president.

We see the same attitudes continued into PBO’s presidency. Only this time, they don’t pretend anymore. They can’t wait to get in front of microphone, not to bash Republicans, but to criticize him for one thing that he did not do or is about to do or is not doing fast enough. And notice also, even those who tend to say something nice, will follow it up with a “BUT” he needs to do, xyz, etc.

How a president can be castigated for trying to clean up the mess created by another president, who got no push back for his doing, is just as mind boggling. Bill Clinton was the one who instituted DADT. PBO came in saying he was going to make sure that it was wiped off the books. And despite doing it, he did not do it fast enough for some. Or oh, they made him do it. OK!!

We could go on and on listing the accomplishments, but why bother. After all some think he is Hoover, the devil incarnate, a one=termer, who killed their mom, their puppies and is about to bring the world to an end.

And all of this is coming from people just in his own party. With friends like these, he sure needs no enemies!!

        Whooooo, lordy.

I had the tv on yesterday when I got in the shower….when I got OUT of the shower the BREAKING NEWS banner said that a SR DEM senator says that there is an issue of trust with the President. WTH???? Really. I guess because of the health care debate/public option. These people ARE DELUSIONAL!
