President Obama helps spell out “Ohio” with the Weithman family, Rachel, 9, Josh, 11, and mom Rhonda, in their home in Columbus, Ohio, Aug. 18, 2010

TPM: As any political pundit worth his or her salt will tell you, you can’t win the presidency as a Republican, Democratic, Whig or Bull Moose party member without winning the state of Ohio. Right now, President Barack Obama leads all GOP challengers there.

… In 2008, President Obama took the state by well over 200,000 votes. But in 2010 Republican John Kasich beat then Gov. Ted Strickland as the GOP wave swept the country. And as we approach 2012, the GOP may have once again be poisoning the well of public opinion, and the possible electoral results are starting to show.

In a new Quinnipiac poll President Obama leads head-to-head match ups against former MA Gov. Mitt Romney 45 – 41, Rep. Michele Bachman 49 – 36, undeclared maybe-candidate TX Gov. Rick Perry 47 – 35, and former AK Gov. Sarah Palin 51 – 35….

Additionally, Sen. Sherrod Brown, who had registered negative job approval ratings in early 2010, has skyrocketed in the wake of Gov. John Kasich’s push against organized labor and subsequent fall in the polls. Voters now think that Brown deserves reelection by at 47 – 33 margin, and his job approval stands at 49 – 30….

Thanks Lisa

Things are happening everywhere. This President is rock solid. He works for everyone. That’s also why he is so hated. I love that picture. His smile just warms my heart.

Chips, I am worried about BWD. I believe there are people trying to take her blog down. If they win we all have lost. I hope you are in touch with her and tell her we love her.

MT, I agree with BWD – it happens here and it makes me back away from commenting. It’s oppressive and I don’t think BWD or Chipsticks designed these blogs to be whining, hand wringing, bitching blogs. IMO.

“All the whining and bitching and non-stop angst, and worst of all: Way too much use of PL, RW and MSM spins and talking points.
Yesterday we had PBO supporting DOMA repeal, we had a couple of good economic news, good health care news and even more polls saying that the president is beating the Republicans in this deficit fight – Yet here, a blog that its entire purpose is to highlight the enormous good stuff being done by this man – It was 90% bitching over the gang plan which PBO DID NOT ENDORSE, and one bad poll.”

What is up with BWD? Are you worried that she hasn’t posted today? I know she’s had some probs with one commenter and others with ulterior motives trying to post anti-Obama trash. Wondered if you knew any more than that. I hope she can persevere and does not get discouraged. It’s too important to have sites like hers and this one, oases of truths.

dotster, BWD posted yesterday and again today – you should read both blogs, they both are wonderful and enlightening. I support both BWD and Chipsticks in their efforts to bring us information, facts, and pleasure and not have the blog weighed down with oppressive comments that, like the midwest/east coast humid, heat wave just wipes a person’s spirits out. We can make a pleasant comment, without adding a slam. Or read something without taking it to the outer limits of “what if”.

I can’t even imagine the trash that BWD and Chips have to wade thru everyday. I so worry about both of them. They are a lifeline for all of us and we lose if the haters take them down. I wish I knew what to do. These things are so out of our control. Why do afew always ruin it for the masses. That is what is going on right now everywhere. We will win I do believe. We must keep fighting and do what we can to support all of us.

        Chips we do love you!!!!!!!

Infiltration, deception, manipulation, divide and conquer.

I hope Chips and BWD realize how much support they have. We love them and the work they do is crucial. We need them.

I don’t know how many times I found information in here or on BWD that I didn’t see anywhere.

We have their backs, that’s for sure.

Hi MTmarilyn, I just left BWD and left a message of support. She is trying to keep our site there positive and keep the trash talking out, which I completely agree. Without Chipsticks and BWD, we would have no place to go and be supportive of our President and these two well put together sites. So I feel that we need to lift BWD and Chipsticks daily with our postive posts and keep them in our beautiful times of quietness, meditations, prayers and inspirational time in our homes. I know that this works for so many of us when we lift each other up . I have a saying in my home, “When you are consistently lifting up your friends, family, and loved ones before a positive power and God, then the blows to them with have to fall somewhere else.” So let’s start practicing “Lifting Up” daily for Chipsticks and BWD. It can just be a powerful one phrase, or one powerful word. Just a thought. I love you all back also, HZ

The joy, the happiness that emanates from PBO is so infectious. He is truly a model for health and well-being.

When you stop and think about the demeanor of W, he just projected a truly strange combination of arrogance and terrible demons. So disturbing.

I have written to the Judicial Committee Chairman, Sen. Leahy to inquire why it has taken so long to get President Obama’s nominations through the committee and on to the Senate for the vote. He was so responsive to me in his letter. I also write to one of my state senators who is very supportive and always has someone in her office to respond to my specific concerns. I think maybe for those who are interested in the judicial system of our country might want to do something like this. They need to know that we are aware of the nominations being held up and we will continue to support the President in this area. Another reason for this type of group participation or individual participation would be this: This Administration is getting so many great judicial issues through, and because of the many laws that we even now trying to be overthrown or will end up in some circuit court, we need to have good judges on the bench to help keep the good laws in place. The laws are changing and these governors who are in now are raging havoc with our laws. We need great judges in these courts. So let’s support the President where we can in this situation. Love all of you back,HZ

OT…the Republicans in the house have decided that this debt ceiling issue is not enough reason to stay in Washington this weekend. They will NOT be in session! As the Senate is staying, waiting for a bill to come to them, Republicans in the house think they should be able to come home.I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW IGNORANT THESE PEOPLE ARE! Guys, call them, fax them, Tweet them, email them!!!! Boner has NO leash on the idiots…he should TELL THEM>>”You’re not going anywhere until this is done.” End of conversation. WTF is WRONG with these guys?? That was a rhetorical question.

    • July 21, 2011 at 12:25 pm

It has been Cantor’s plan from the get-go. He knows nothing will be passed and they’ll have nothing to run on, so he’s giving them a lot more time at home with the mission to kiss as many babies, shake as many hands, attend as many ribbon cutting events and march in as many parades as possible to make enough personal connections in hopes that will help you win in 2012.

Not understanding that SR. Read the comment I posted below from Smartypants….and do you think that the house republicans will join with the house dems to just pass a clean bill leaving the TP hung out to dry?

        • July 21, 2011 at 12:46 pm

I guess the idea is is you’ve met somebody personally you’re more likely to think positively of them and thus more likely to vote for them. Outside of about a dozen firebrands most congresscritters are unknowns outside of their districts and the national stink doesn’t stick on them as much if they’re seen to be nice folks out in the community (their votes in congress be damned).

I definitely think the debt ceiling will be raised. A clean bill would only need 30 GOP reps, but if there is some cuts with no revenues than Pelosi won’t be able to deliver her whole caucus, maybe half at most to Boehner will have to deliver half of his.

Right now Boehner is trying to come up with an idea that will appease the teabaggers because they don’t want all out war with them because they need them for 2012.

Ok…though the mere thought of them “needing” these reckless TP people, even after all this, is dismaying to me. Kick the lousy bunch to the curb and start governing like they should. Will ANYONE trust their sorry assed judgement again? I wouldn’t.

As an Ohioan I can tell you that John Kasic and his policies really suck. The idiots that voted for him are really having buyers remourse. I voted for Ted Strickland and I bet the Ohio idiots wish they had too!

I sincerely hope that Ohio never forgets the anti-union anti-labor, anti-middleclass policies that John Kasich has been passing. Come 2012 they need to hand Ohio to President Obama and make sure democrats have a majority in the state legislature and when it comes time for Kasich to run for re-election, they’d better kick him out and put a real leader in his place; a democrat who isn’t all about kissing up to the uber wealthy.

Well as you all know I hail from the Buckeye state folks. Right smack dab in the heart of Buckeye Nation in the state capitol of Columbus. We have done a lot of work since our devastating defeat last fall in the midterms. John Kasich with his FASCIST rule has made our road a little easier as far as voters having buyers remorse like in Wisconsin. We are working on GOTV for this November to overturn the Senate Bill no. 5 law that terminates all public collective bargaining in the state. As you can remember we marched 1.3mil signatures on petitions to the Secretary of State last month. Unheard of in state politics anywhere. 🙂 Kasich is a Teapbagger endorsed by Sarah Palin last year. He is as insane as those other Teagovs in Florida, Texas, and Wisconsin. We will turn this state BLUE again you can bank on it. God help us Buckeyes. Hard work and PERSEVERANCE baby. Obama/Biden 2012!!
