‘the most incredible thing fox news has ever done’

James Fallows (The Atlantic): …. via Erik Wemple of the Washington Post, the simply unbelievable Fox and Friends segment. It’s about the News of the World hacking scandal.

…. they present their (now closed) UK sister publication News of the World as a victim of the hacking problem, rather than as a perpetrator …. They roll out Bob Dilenschneider to say how hacking is a big problem. It’s happened at the Pentagon. It’s happened at Citibank. It’s happened at the News of the World. When are we going to get serious about it?

HEY, WAIT A MINUTE!!! Citibank and the Pentagon were the hackees – the objects of hacking, by criminals or spies. Murdoch’s News of the World was the hacker – the perpetrator, the criminal-or-spy counterpart.

I submit that this could not happen at any other news organization. Rather, it could not happen at a news organization. It happened at the agitprop operation known as Fox News.

Update: As several readers have suggested, I should have pointed out the way the segment ends. Steve Doocy of Fox and his expert agree that it’s terrible that the mainstream media are wasting so much time on this old-news London hacking story rather than paying attention to what really matters. Which is the segue to … Casey Anthony.

While we suppoters keep being surprised at the OUTRAGES antics of the enemy I continue to be un amazed. We are fighting a CULTURAL war on so many levels everyone. Expect all this disinformation, deceit, distration, and hate filled rhetoric only to intensify as the LEADER of the FREE WORLD embarks on his re-election journey. That being said…….Yes, TOD family. We have our work cut out for us. All this HATE directed toward PBO and his followers is not surpising to the President. He anticipated this. He warned us in 2008 that we would meet great resistance and not necessarily just from the RIGTWING. After all we do live in America where just a few decades ago lynchings were still popular in our country. We will PERSEVERE and TRIUMPH over EVIL. I trully believe this.

I was out today registering new voters at major parks and Dowtown with local OFA supporters here in Columbus, Ohio. Today was a National Day of Action for Obama for America. We know what we are up against. These very same new voters and supporters are the ones the enemy will try to keep from voting in 2012. Even with all the new voting laws being passed to supress Democratic turnout we are not allowing that to stop us from doing what is right and lawful. WE WILL PREVAIL….YES WE WILL!!!! Obama/Biden 2012!!

Keith, I love reading your comments. I feel even more enthusiasm and excitement for President Obama’s campaign this time. The President is a brilliant strategist with a compassionate heart who keeps coming up with new and unique solutions for problems. I always had so much appreciation for him, but he just keeps getting better. I stand with him and with all of you. Together we will prevail. Yes we can!!

As a glass half full person I see a silver lining in this ridiculous situation. Apologies for mixing my metaphors.

This isn’t about President Obama or something fuzzy to Fox viewers like climate change, the economy or the debt ceiling. This is factual. Rational Fox viewers can’t help but hear the truth about this from other television programs, co-workers, newspapers or in other ways. It’s all over the place.

I see this as a way for them to begin to question other things they’ve heard on Fox that have been contradictory to what others have been saying or that was contradicted supposedly “liberal” media sources.

I have a nephew who is 50. He’s a religious right, rapture bound, Fox watching, Republican loving man. He’s intelligent with an excellent, professional job and I think once there is a crack in that fantasy world he lives in then he might question the rest of it or at least begin to look for information from other sources. We live in Indiana so his co-workers may be Republican, too, but this is just too factual for Fox to spin it that way and have anyone believe it that gets any other information whatsoever.

You make a good point, Suzanne; Fox News is gradually exposing itself. In the words of the old saying, ‘You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the poeple all of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.’ It has taken longer than sane folks would like, but I believe that FOX News will get its come-uppance, especially with the kind of revelations coming out of the UK.

Great comment Suzanne. I acknowledge what the CRIMINAL CABLE STATION FOXNEWS is all about. My post was concerning the Jane Hamshire thread downstream and I was just re-posting and updating. Guess I didn’t make that clear. BTW whatever FOX does these days all comes back around to President Obama. Believe me. Everything they do today is GEARED toward making him a one term president even if they have to use their Parent Parasite company crumbling as a vehicle. Stay Tuned……KEEP HOPE ALIVE!! Obama/Biden 2012!!

‘The proof of the pudding is in the eating!’ Despite all the complaints I’ve heard about FAUX News (I’ve never watched them, not even the snippets included on favourite sites), this vivid example really brings it home. I started watching this thinking it would be incredible truth re debt ceiling or some such, then continued just to see where they would go. It seems incredible to me that they are allowed to call themselves a news station.

Surprise, surprise! This pretzel logic will not continue to work forever…people hear other news, read newspapers and articles. When the MSM as a whole doesn’t mesh with the obvious lies of FOX>..a few of those folks should start to scratch their heads and wonder….one tv station and a million print news sights…which one is saying something TOTALLY DIFFERENT? What morons. really, how the hell do they get up in the morning and look in the mirror?

WOW, the WSJ is suffering a twitter meltdown after their horrific defensive disgusting editorial:

Meta, I didn’t see that WSJ editorial, I avoid that vile right-wing rag, so thanks a million for the link – just read it, and seriously, I laughed out loud. Utterly pathetic and deceitful, I’d give anything for that rag to go the same way as the scummy News of the World. May the Murdoch ’empire’ rot in hell.

I’m with you all the way, Chips. They are obviously digging their own grave, handily. It’s pathetic and only serves to make the case. DISGUSTING and I hope they go DOWN with the whole mess. They deserve our wrath, just like FOX.

We are all witnesses to the unravelling and implosion of the Murdoch empire. We will also watch as all those he’s used over the years as mouth pieces to deceive and misinform start to run helter-skelter as the roof caves over them.
Keep up the good work Chips.

The destruction of rupert and FAUX news will be because of the 911 families and first responders.. There is a secret room in NYC that roger ailles developed to investigate people for faux news. Please google Dan Cooper author of the Naked Truth..

Rupert Murdoch hired Roger Ailes to brainwash America into thinking right-wing ideology is actually the political center. And he did. And, I’m ashamed to tell you, I helped him.

Now, every channel is saying: why doesn’t the president put his proposal down on paper?

    Hello?

Bc they would eat that proposal for lunch! What do you think where stupid?

      July 17, 2011 at 9:45 pm

He did. Said there has to be revenue increase in there and can’t burden the poor and middle class. What? They want someone ELSE to do their jobs for them? Asswipes.

      • July 17, 2011 at 9:57 pm

Indeed! The GOP sent out all their big guns today to talk about that catch phrase: cap, cut snd balance.

Old frank Luntz must be happy with that phrase?

This balanced bs amendment requires 67 votes in the senate.

        67!!!!

    • July 17, 2011 at 10:10 pm

Why would he when the GOP already said no to any new revenues. Basically the GOP is trying to get President Obama to spell out his cuts, so even when the GOP says “no way” they’ll be able to attack the Administration. Also the GOP want it in paper so they can then say “no deals” but since Obama already offered these cuts and changes to entitlements – they would still be good, so we’ll just do that without the revenues.

Maybe if the GOP would say they were open to the $4T deal including revenues but would need to see it spelled out – but then they’re teabagger wing would blow up with the idea that they’re giving into tax raises and Norquist would have a conniption fit.

Those folk at Fox are all probably looking for jobs and, many of them hiring lawyers, just about now, if they have even the slightest clue as to what is going to happen as the FBI, DoJ and FCC start digging into Murdoch’s newsmafia syndicate.

Wonder if Roger Ailes has already left the country …

    Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!

I began watching the video but had to quit half-way, like Sarah Palin 😉 These people are pathetic sick creatures. News of the World, Rebekah Brooks, the Murdoch family, the honchos in London and America are not the vicitms. The families and people they hacked are the real vicitims. A girl is dead. Her family suffered for a long time, keeping up hope while the disgusting slime that is the Murdoch corporation deleted her voicemails so that it would project the image she was alive. They didn’t do anything to assist the investigation, instead like parasites they sensationalized the story and listened to the voicemails so they could be the only “newspaper” with the so called scoop. They alledgedly hacked into 9/11 victims families phones and parapharnelia for sensationalism. And we’re supposed to feel sorry for the mega corporation just because poor old Rupert said I’m sorry and took out ad space to reiterate that hypocritical lie. What arrant nonsense! What utter rubbish! I sincerely hope they all go down in this convoluted mess because enough is enough.

I watched the entire video and laughed and laughed and laughed. The Fox & Friend guy looked and sounded horrible! He was stumbling over, across and through his words. Fumbling, stumbling and hacking his way through his report. He looked so uncomfortable and so nervous, I laughed my ass off. Every time he opened his mouth it reminded me of when I was little and I wasn’t supposed to snack right before Sunday dinner cause we ate a 3:30 and I’d get into the jelly and steal some bread when my mom wasn’t looking. Then my mom would confront me and I would try to tap dance my way out of the fire with the remains of my sandwich clutched behind my back and grape jelly stuck in my teeth and smeared on the corner of my lips as I tried to deny what my mom was seeing and swallow my most recent bite at the same time. My mom would give me this blank stare for a few minutes, then her head would tilt to side as though I was some alien she’d never seen before, like she was studying some new life force under a microscope and then she’d shake her head. Then after that look, when she asked me again what I’d been doing, if I still lied, she’d give me a whooping. Not for the snack, but for the lies. If I ‘d just told her about the snack she would have said: “how many times have I told you not to eat before dinner. What is that? What do you think is on the stove? Food for the dogs? After you eat that are you gonna be able to eat your dinner, blah, blah, blah……..” I tell you what, nobody should evah experience my mom’s whoop ass, you will never know how many times I wished I’d just told the truth and taken her haranguing rather than her beating. Yikes! 😯

    Uh, yeah.
Rebekkah Brooks resigned and was arrested because someone hacked News of the World.

Unbelievable how these people can just lie and twist shit. I can’t believe the press corps here banded together to defend these clowns against the White House when they pointed out how this is not a legitimate news agency.
    Fuck ’em all.

Faux ‘News’ and their talking heads have lost all sense of propriety….lying their brains off on live national TV, just to deceive and maintain their low-information audience. It couldn’t get any lower than this. I guess, when one is drowning, he’s got to clutch on any straw he finds.
Rebekka Brooks has been arrested; Scotland Yard boss resigns…..this thing has only just begun – and already stinking to high heavens!.
