let’s call it what it is

‘Obama’ sneaks up on unsuspecting babies and tries to indoctrinate them with his brand of Hitlerism

After entering seriously ugly Firedogfake/Glenn GreenBeck cyberspace territory today to read up on a bunch of stuff, including Firedogfake’s threats to Eclectablog (see here), what struck me most was the seething hatred of Barack Obama the man, never mind Barack Obama the President.

I sometimes enter Teabagger territory just to entertain myself with their spectacular stupidity, but honestly, even there you’d struggle to find the same levels of hatred that you get from Firedogfake, Glenn GreenBeck and the like.

We are talking foaming-at-the-mouth hatred here.

Here’s an example.

On May 18 of this year this was posted at Jane Hamsher’s Firedogfake:

It’s now July 18th and that post – about the need for “Afro-Americans” to enter an “education program” – is still on FDL.

Hamsher owns FDL, so she owns this post – so spare us all the excuse that it was only written by one of FDL’s diarists. If Hamsher found an entry on the site that was critical of her, she’d have it deleted in a blink of an eye.

But a post about the need for “Afro-Americans” to enter an “education program” is, evidently, perfectly fine.

Truly, this is as ugly as it can get.

Let’s cut the crap and call it for what it is: Hamsher and her FDL sheeple are race-baiting scum.

If they weren’t, an FDL post calling for “Afro-Americans” to be entered in an “education program” would have been deleted.

But it’s still there.

Unlike Hamsher, I don’t – and never, ever will – ask for or accept donations.

If anyone has a few dollars to spare, I will ask them to contribute to Obama/Biden 2012.

Some of us aren’t in it for the money or attention – truly, we’re just not that desperate.

    Ok, I am about to make a statement here that may not be popular, but it’s the truth. If the unemployment rate stays above 8.5% by the election, there is a very real possibility that Barack Obama may not be re-elected. Yesterday, I watched the President’s press conference in which he discussed the debt ceiling, and the Republicans’ unwillingness to work out a compromise.
    Honestly, I did not listen, the sound faded away as I actually LOOKED at President Obama. I could not get over the way he looked, physically. Solemn, graying, and very deliberate, gone was the electric smile and bubbling energy, replaced by a man who is seemingly beginning to realize that the opposition is willing to drive the country into the ground to insure the defeat of the first Black President, even at their own peril.
    I have not been the most ardent Barack Obama supporter. I have always been wary of his commitment to Black people; however, I never share this with outsiders who would only seek to use them as validation of their viewpoints. “Even you, a Black man does not think he is doing a good job!” It would be the same way the Republicans will use Dr. Cornel West and Tavis Smiley’s comments to tank Obama with Blacks, or at least temper our enthusiasm for him in the 2012 election.
    Combine that with another seemingly legitimate Black candidate, Herman Cain, that will give frustrated Black voters (with whom the unemployment rate is at 16.2%), a place to deposit their votes, and this thing is looking more challenging by the day. Tank the economy, and they can get a do over with the Recession.
    Obama’s election demonstrated that in dire times, Americans are willing to give anything a try, hence the first Black President. Now the Tea Party is willing to recreate the Recession in an all out attempt to defeat him. A kamikaze mission, and frankly with the stakes involved, I think it has moved beyond politics to blatant racism. They are going to get that n_ _ _a out of there, to quote Malcolm X, “By Any Means Necessary.”
    Make no mistake about it; I have my own personal grievances against OUR President. I really think he could have done more for Blacks, but I know “he’s trying not to be the angry Black man,” as Jay – Z was recently quoted in Rolling Stone. I think if he would have been the angry Black man, capable of properly articulating his thoughts, they would not be trying to punk him right now, publicly and humiliatingly, like Jimmy Carter, with his head on a stake.
    But he’s still family, and when someone attacks your family, no matter what the circumstances, you defend home. We can take Obama to the woodshed for ignoring us these past three years AFTER we get him re-elected. But he better get it right or he’ll be the LAST BLACK PRESIDENT.

      IMO, this would have been the WRONG strategy to pursue because it would have confirmed the stereotype of “the angry black man” and would have damaged any chances PBO would have had to accomplish anything at all. I also don’t know how aware this person is, but PBO has never had any problem articulating his goals for the country. The angry black president would have provided perpetual fodder for the right to attack PBO without ceasing. I’m black, and I think PBO has played it just right. He has given the right no ammo to put “the angry black man” stereotype into play, and his ability to demonstrate his maturity in the face of the republicans’ immaturity makes him seem reasonable, which has the ability to transcend race and politics more easily than being seen as angry. PBO isn’t weak. In fact, he’s the opposite. It takes a person of strong character to find smart ways to fight one’s opponents without resorting to emotional outrage. My money is on PBO because I have rightly figured out that the chances for a better nation for all of us reside with him. For me, voting for Herman Cain is NOT an option, and Cain is not a viable alternative to PBO. I’d be a straight fool to vote for anyone who is willing to violate the tenets of the Constitution for personal gain and is also a corporate w*ore and is not trying to hide it.

        Agreeing with you, Majii. My take would also be that ‘the angry black man’ would have been the WRONG strategy for the President to pursue because it is really not PBHO, and it is in no way as effective a strategy as its proponents seem to believe. PART of the President’s success IMO is due to his obvious sincerity, and though I don’t doubt there’s been times he’s been ‘angry’ with the clowns he has to deal with on both sides, I don’t see him delivering ‘the angry black man’ sincerely. Maze Jackson needs to wake up to the fact that if (s)he’s an American the President has not ignored her/him. He has been ‘fighting’ for ALL Americans, black, brown, yellow, or white in a way that will ensure more lasting results, AND that’s why s/he needs to help re-elect him.

I am angry because I do not trust this kind of situation. Hell for all I know it could be Maze could be someone working for Jane the Shame or Adam the Ass?

            Do any of you know who this person is or where the letter came from? I am sorry. I cannot believe this is reality. This is another ploy to turn people away from Obama.

            prettyfoot, The depth of hatred towards PBO by Shamster and the evil Green could very likely be behind this. What makes me really angry is the fact that PBO inherited a financial collapse. I am sick to death of those who choose to blame him for the condition of the country.
            Of course people are hurting. PBO i s doing everything he can to help everyone. I am getting sick and tired of Obama has done nothing for me.

      Kasai, Who is Maze Jackson? I see here that it says “contributing correspondent – Maze Jackson.” But when I googled Maze Jackson, the only thing I came up with is a Wikipedia entry for a deceased baptist minister/preacher who is not even Black!. I have reason to believe that this “letter” is being circulated by GOP operatives. And the person who wrote it is probably not black either.

      We have to be very careful about these attempts by Republicans & PL to erode Black/minority support from our President. They will stop at NOTHING. Do you have a return address for the letter? If so, what is it?

Those of us who follow the president know that the electricity and smile are still there..just ask those folks in Iowa at Ross restaurant. As far as what PBO has done for the AA community..if he would stop listening to Corney and Travesty and the rest of the PL and actually research what Obama has done then maybe he wouldnt be sending out stupid a$$ letters like this.

      Also, it’s so odd, he looked at that press conference and saw a week man…a “Jimmy Carter”…smh sometimes “family” are our worst enemies because there he is feeding into the worst stereotypes…its a shame…after all that PBO has accomplished, even for AA community as listed above, he makes it sound like he’s set the race back…a$$$…wouldn’t be surprised if he were in that group in the ’90s calling Clinton our first black president. If anyone else had done all that PBO has done, they would be getting praise not condescension.

They are trying to get readers confused about the distinction between a stump speech when the President is all hyped up, and a press conference on a serious issue. This is nothing more than a propaganda letter from a Republican supporter, disguised as a disappointed Obama supporter.

      Couple Jackson’s assumptin that Blacks ONLY voted for Pres. Obama because he’s Black, and Hamsher’s plan to send Blacks to get reeducated, and you can see a pattern here of trying to turn the Black community against the President.

      It won’t work. First of all, Blacks DON’T vote for ANY Black. Otherwise they would have campaigned for Sharpton, and other Black presidential candidates in the past. They voted for Pres. Obama because he hasd a winning agenda, and they felt he could be elected. They will NEVER rally around a bomb thrower like Can because he is unelectable at the national level.

      Blacks KNOW what they are doing. And the suggestions that they don’t is highly insulting and in some cases racist. (Again sorry about the typos, I still can’t see what I’m posting.)

    This “Black President” has done more for blacks than any President.
    Just because he doesn’t advertise it….It doesn’t mean that he’s neglecting the Urban communities.
    In the the most hostile environmental from both sides, plus the hatred, it is amazing what he was able to achieve.

    MLK…preached about justice for ALL “Black, White, Browns” All coming together…So why is President Obama any different??

    The Last so called “Black President Clinton”….Gave us NAFTA and restructure almost got rid of Welfare Cut Medicare..

    If divide and conquer is your message…hope you have more FOR NOT ELECTING THE LAST BLACK PRESIDENT!!!!

    Here’s some accomplishments of President Obama that benefits, directly and indirectly Black Communities…just in the past 2.5years????

    Hate Crimes Prevention Act became law, and the President hosted a reception to celebrate a victory decades in the making and steeped in blood and pain.     Washington (CNN) — President Barack Obama on Wednesday signed a $1.15 billion measure to fund a settlement initially reached between the Agriculture Department and minority farmers more than a decade ago.
    The 1997 Pigford v. Glickman case against the U.S. Agriculture Department over claims of discrimination against black farmers was settled out of court 11 years ago. Under a federal judge’s terms dating to 1999, qualified farmers could receive $50,000 each to settle claims of racial bias.
    The legislation signed by Obama also funds a separate $3.4 billion settlement reached with the Department of Interior for mishandling Native American trust funds, along with four separate water rights lawsuits brought by Native American tribes.
    “It’s vindication and justice for black farmers,” said John Boyd, founder and president of the National Black Farmers Association, when the bill won congressional approval last month. “This is what I wanted. I wanted a final restitution from the government so the black farmers can move on.”
    Attorney General Eric Holder has called the settlements “historic” and said they “offer a new relationship between many deserving Americans and the federal agencies that play an important role in their lives,” while Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said last month the measure would help his department “move beyond this sad chapter in our history.”
    Boyd acknowledged that the $50,000 compensation for eligible farmers will far exceed the amounts of individual loans many were denied under discrimination cited in the case. However, he said, no amount of money could properly compensate for the discrimination experienced by black farmers.
    “I don’t think this is about the money. I think this is about justice,” Boyd said.
    He rejected claims by Republican critics of the settlement that the claims process was fraudulent.
    Vilsack’s statement when the bill won congressional approval also rejected the fraud claim, saying, “the bill that passed the Senate and House includes strong protections against waste, fraud, and abuse to ensure integrity of the claims process.”

      Kasai, do not be sorry about the truth that is what is wrong to many keep silent to much. Our President is doing the Best Job we have seen out of the White House in over 50 YEARS.The Black Community has always gotten the worst of the economy when things are bad. That is just a fact President Obama is fighting on all fronts for a greater America so these things do change for all not just a few. Look how long it took to get in the White House as the Main Resident . So all the changes are going to still take time. As a Vet I would fight through Hell and back again for this President because He has shown true leadership and caring for all America that I fought for. So we all should hang tough things will get better.

I believe they are even starting to HACK emails of Obama supporters and the OFA website itself.       Wow! Just Wow, Kasai. I am so glad you’ve brought this to dangerous matter to our attention. No, I have not yet received this chain letter, but I know of more than a few AA’s who share this same or similar prevailing attitude–even a couple of members of my own family.

      I believe the onslaught of negative media attacks since day one (starting the very day the President was inaugurated) is starting to take its toll. The very deliberate attempt to divide and conquer within the black community is a very real threat, IMO. The PLers’ 24-7 nonstop broadcasts combined with the growing amount of radio and TV air time given to certain “designated” black spokespersons has created this atmosphere of doubt and suspicion about our President among a growing number of AA’s—which I believe could potentially impact voter turnout in 2012.

      What is so sad is the fact that this growing skepticism among AA’s is taking place in spite of the craziness being spewed by the right wing fanatics whose hatred of blacks and other minorities is on full display. In the deep South where I reside, legislation is being passed every day that’ s taking our state back more than 50 years. Yet, many of my friends and extended family members seem to be either apathetic or have defeatist attitudes when it comes to fighting back or trying to get President Obama reelected.

      Sadly, I’m not sure if the President is totally aware of what may be happening within the black populous across this country. I am not sure if his advisers really have a good ear for what is happening, or if they are adequately informing him. I just know that overall the positive messaging about the amazing accomplishments of President Obama—and how those achievements are impacting AA’s—is just not getting through to the degree that it needs to . . .

The president of the USA can not, make people get an education, and what we blacks need is an education to do better. My parent grow up in Alabama and they did not ask the president to give them a jobs, they went to school and learn how to fill out an application. Yes rasicm is real but Education is free, just go and learn. get a law degree and fight injustice, not wait for the President to give you justice.       So well said. I think that a lot of this kind of talk comes from being unemployed and feeling that they are not empowered in their own lives. It is NOT the fault of PBO, it is so many things, but not that.Maybe their own expectations of the election of this great black President,was to sprinkle fairy dust and make them all better again.Their anger and fault finding is misdirected.Like by 180 degrees…for the first time in so long, I have felt that this man has fought so hard, for everyone….no matter what their color or creed.While we see, daily, the RW demonizing the working and poor in this country in favor of corporations and the insanely wealthy….how do things even make sense? Fear is in play here, as well..that said, I believe that most folks do not think this way.I think they can see the way this President has tried so hard to make things better for people…while others fight tooth and nail to destroy the very fabric of this country.Maybe even starting by pitting one against the other.       Trust me, this letter wasn’t written by a frustrated Black Obama supporter. It was written by a GOP operative – the whole letter reeks of Republican talking points and stereotypical views of how a black person (Velma Hart) might feel. I don’t think any reasonable black person who supports our President truly believes that Herman Cain is a viable candidate. This letter sounds as though it was written by a Republican who extrapolated bits and pieces of “black grievance” material from West and Smiley’s rantings, and put together a thing sounding like what they imagined a frustrated black Obama supporter would write. Blacks have always have relatively high unemployment – even when the economy was booming, so the sudden stress on the unemployment rate and the willingness to blame Obama for it is largely a Republican strategy, bolstered by the likes of West and Smiley.

The Obama for Amrerica website gets these types of so called disaffected Obama supporters on a daily basis.         I agree with you hopefruit2. I have not shared this with the TOD family yet, but now seems to be a good time to do so. I am African American and I will tell you I don’t know any AA who would write a letter like that unless they are an operative of some kind. The language is so contrived and mixed with double speak. Most black people I know are very straight up and do not mix messages like that. Also most AA I know do not feel ignored by this President. We have watched from day one how he was handed a big mess! We also see how he as been taunted, smeared, hated, and obstructed. Many of us know what this looks like up close and personal and trust me, we know what it means. This is just another tactict to divide and conquer. We will NOT let this happen! Despite the few West’s and the Smiley’s (yes there are some out there) we know how hard our President has and is working on ALL of our behalves and a majority of 85% of us still have his back! Come November, we will get back the other 12. OBAMA 2012!!!!

    The thing that angers me the most is the presumption that all black people are homogeneous in their thinking, beliefs and attitudes. As an African-American and a human being, that insults me to the core of my person. How dare they think they can hoodwink all of us into thinking that President Obama hasn’t done any good for the black community. Yes, I’m sure it would be fantastic for their cause if he were to focus only on black people, but he is President of all Americans. Healthcare Reform, Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, repeal of DADT, strengthening the FDA’s powers, increased accesibility to affordable housing, race to the top, removing the banks as middle men in terms of student loans and other educational initiatives. Restoring monetary benefits to Native Americans and African American farmers whose lands were unjustly taken from them, Financial and credit card reform, housing and mortgage credit for homebuyers, tax cuts for all middle and working class families, payroll tax cuts and on and on and on. Every bill, law and policy he signs into existence is meant to help all Americans regardless of race and these no nothing pathetic bottom of the barrel bottom feeders have the nerve to unjustly criticize him and sneeringly refer to us as “Afro-Americans.” On a normal day, they treat us like we are second class citizens, inferior and uneducated but when they want to destroy a man, irrespective of his Presidency, they find the token scumbag of a “real” black man Cornel West to wield legitimacy to their false argument. They should be ashamed of themselves, Jane Hamsher should be ashamed of herself for selling her cold soul to the almighty dollar; but most of all Cornel West should be ashamed of himself for being a turncoat, for being the vehicle of destruction and for betraying the people he purports to hold near and dear to his heart.     First Kasai, you do not have to apologize to this family. First of all those who choose to e mail to this person do what you feel in your heart that will give you peace within. We all respond differently to every situation that comes to us each and every day. However, we know from the actions that President Barack Obama has done for this country are tremendously remarkable. First, he was not elected to be ‘The Black President of the United States’. He is The President of ALL Americans of the United States. That is not what the evil men and women who write this vile stuff want one to believe. There is no black person( thinking in his or her right mind_) about President Obama doing something for them because they are black. Mind you, I said if they are in their right frame of mind. I have never felt that President Obama has to do something for me because I am black. My parents taught me to get up and study, read, converse with others, and work my behind off at all times. My grandparents did it in their gerenation and they produced some intelligent and professional children, one being my precious mother. Then my parents did the same and they produced three professional hardworking children. And believe me, things were terrible then like nothing some people, I am sure have only read about. I lived in the mess. However, I never looked or was allowed to think or look to ANY President of the United States to educate me, find a job for me, feed me or dress me. I was told to go and get the best education and work like hell to get the best. If all of the blacks would have waited for President Barack Obama to be President, these great men and women would NOT be who or where they are today. That is the plain and simple response. Now it is President Barack Obama’s fault because blacks are not being educated, not being in the workplace, not being able to fill the boardrooms, not being able to purchase clothes to wear. Bullshit(excuse me). Do not allow the hope that has always been in the heart of so many young people who are black, white, yellow and brown who can see that some of this shit is being removed because young and old smart people heard the voice in this President’s voice that there is hope alive now.     Ruturd Murdoch raised A LOT of money for Hillary instead of eventual winner, in a landslide mind you, President Barack Hussein Obama.       Even some who claimed to be longtime Democrats all went on to work for the opposition instead of supporting and working with President Obama…

      I remember reading a year or two ago in the San Francisco chronicle Sunday magazine an interview done with Tavis Smiley; he had been shadowing and traveling with Hillary Clinton in her role as SoS…

      Even the awful Tavis Smiley could not understand the reasoning behind every television set in Hillary’s office, plane etc. being permanently tuned into Fox news…

      He told the interviewer that that was all Hillary and her staff – no CNN, no PBS nothing else- watched which was mighty interesting…

    Hey all, I’m just tuning in and I can’t believe me eyes. Chips, thank you for this post. I have got to dig in and read everything, but I am so sorry that you are going through so much behind the scenes to support this President and keep us informed and all together and looking down the road to the goal of 2012. Stay strong and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your love.

    Kasai, I’m so sorry that you have had to suffer through this. I’m glad you shared this letter with your TOD family. I have been going through something lately and I shared a part of it with you and Chips a couple of weeks ago. I’m trying to cope with all these haters and their unjust actions. We have so many enemies out there and I fear that it’s going to get worse, but we must hold together and we will hold together. Seeing that beautiful family on Sunday gave me the hope I needed to get through this week and the next week and I will.

    Dear Lord be with this President and this country and all of it’s people. We need you Lord more now than ever. Bless Chipsticks and this TOD community and every individual and family that are represented here in Jesus name. Amen.

    Interesting that “Afro-Americans” was used in the FDL post as well. Sounds like Maze Jackson just may be metamars and just may be hamsher (or one of her operatives) in disguise. Secondly, with Tom Joyner calling out west and smiley, it’s my understanding that the two sell-outs have already, to a certain extent, become pariah in the AA community.

    This is just the beginning. We as a family here at TOD stand together and will overcome whatever is out there to try to deter us. Bless you Chips for the hard ground work that you do to keep this site going and up to date. Whenever I receive a letter like that, I not only respond back to the sender but to ALL who are listed on that email. As I pray for our dear President and his family, I also pray for divine justice for those who try to destroy him. We need to continue to send out our message of support and call down anyone who tries to divide and conquer. We stand together and our President will serve another term.

I will leave the judgement to God for these people, but we have a job to accomplish in these next months, get out the truth.     Wow. Yesterday everning I was a sick puppy. Got up this morning to this. First, I want to say thank you to you Chips for what you are doing. Thank you for shining the light on these hateful people.

    We all have to have this mindset. That the more they get angry and get uglier, the more we will push back at them with the facts. Thank you again, Chips. President Obama is not getting the ugly from his so-called supporters, his opponents have not even started.

    –Kasai, thanks for sharing this letter with us. I smelled skunk when I first read the letter. I read it one more time before I went down into the comments, and sure in enough, Hopefruit nailed it. These people can’t win on their record, the facts, and so even if they have to enlist or create faux black people, they will to derail this president.

    I want to bring to your attention something I read a while back. I can’t remember the guy’s name. But he said that he was going to inflitrate OFA to try to help bring this president down. I think he is one of those loud mouth Teapartiers.

    Later, I will try to google and see if I can find this person. I think I read this a while back on TPM.

    The more Chips expose these people, the uglier they are going to get. Our role would be to have a hide as tough an elephant and push back with ever moral fiber in our bodies.
